Hello people,
I recently installed GalaxySense Rom (Search "oozeroo" on Google) for my Samsung Captivate AT&T, and it was working fine, until I changed a few settings, then it said it was going to Hot Boot, so the hot boot worked fine. Then, I turned off my phone and turned it back on, and it does not boot. I tried some stuff (check the Situations). My phone is stuck at "Galaxy S Cyanogen(Mod)" (Picture Included!!!)
Situation:
-No Download Mode
-No recovery mode
-Flashed this rom with rom manager (wiped dalvik cache only)
-TRIED installing Clockworkmod recovery, but wont work (not booting into recovery)
-Only an internal SD inside phone, 14 Gigs.
(Ask me for more info if needed please)
Thank you so much, and please help.

Alright, well, thanks, at least, for the response.
I still have the 30 day warranty, although not sure if it is a good idea if I should because it is rooted! Aye caramba...
Wrong freaking forum. That being said, take out battery, hold both volume buttons, plug in USB, then put in battery, all with both volume buttons held the whole time. May take a few tries but will get u in download mode for Odin.
If this doesn't resolve your problem (it will if done correctly), visit the Captivate forums.

aigh, did not work for me, and tried returning it, but they did'nt accept it, NOT because it had cyanogenmod on it, but because it was bot booting!
Thanks guys
Buy or make a jig to force download mode... its not bricked because its loading, probably something was messed up being that its a port and 1 change can send things into disarray seeing as the kernel has been reoriented and is very beta

can I cut off an old charger that fits the captivate, and use that?
There is an article somewhere on xda that shows you how to make it business 3 100k resistors and there must be other ways, you can if you want to waste a charger but look it up thoroughly before making any rash decisions

This is pretty bizarre.
I have been running CM7 nightly 180 with Trinity for about a month now. I woke up to my phone vibrating a bit - my K9 mail app got reset so it was redownloading old emails. I tried to open my Twitter app and that was reset as well. After that a bunch of force close dialogues popped up, so I rebooted my phone thinking it glitched up. Once I did that, it would show the Google logo, then the first Trinity logo, and just hang there. It did not get to the Trinity animation.
I can get into recovery, and from there I tried to restore to a backup, and it says E:Can't mount /sdcard. Do I have to Odin to fix this or is there another option? I remember the same error happening to my Vibrant, and that was the only solution.
Does anyone have any explanation as to why this happened? I didn't do anything unusual with the phone or install anything new/different at all. I plugged it in, went to bed, and woke up to this.
Strange :S. Did you try to mount SD card from recovery while you have your phone conected to PC? I hope it's not faulty storage memory problem...
Sent from my Nexus S using XDA App
I just tried, CWM says "Error mounting /sdcard!" This all happened with my Vibrant. It said all of the same things and I had to use Odin, and it worked, but my /sdcard was completely wiped. It just doesn't make sense since this time I didn't do anything differently; I think on my Vibrant I had installed a new ROM and then it messed up. This time it's like a phantom f**k up.
That doesn't sound so good . Seen few people with same problem, and most of them sent their devices for repairs. It was some hardware error where Odin couldn't help.
Can't be sure if that is the same problem, but it easily could be. I'm not expert, I'm just sharing what I've seen before. Let's hope I'm wrong about this one...
Ugh I really hope not. I bought this phone on eBay in August, I still owe money to Bill Me Later -_-

Get into recovery mode by turning phone off then hold volume up button then press the power button. It should go to recovery. In recovery go to advanced the mount SD card and mount data. Then try doing a restore

Have you tried flashing another recovery? Or even, lock and unlock the bootloader? It should format your sd card and that might fix it.

Try use other version of recovery. It is a bug from I dunno which version of recovery.

I'm on version 5.0.0.0 of CWM, is that the buggy one by chance?
I can't get the USB driver to install here at work (Windows), I am going to have to wait til I get home to flash an updated version of CWM from my Mac.
Flashing a new recovery didn't help. My /sdcard still says error for everything. I wish Odin worked on Macs.
Just used someone's PC to use Odin and my phone hangs at "verify image (ipbl)... success." I think I'm going to throw in the towel and cut my losses at this point. I don't really have any other options.
Amazing but working solution for the same problem!
There is a post in Google mobile support were many people had the same problem and one guy exposes the solution, because I am new user, I can't link outside xda so I tell you the fix:
It's said to be a common hardware problem in this device, for me it just works when I power on after heating up with a hot air gun (other people say a hair dryer is enough)
I hope that you find this information useful

Hi!
My i9000 don´t boot anymore. it has got a boot loop. i just can see the galaxys logo. i even can´t access the recovery mode.
after every app crashed since yesterday, i tryed to reboot. then i got a boot loop (boot animation). when i had it after i flashed ics 2 weeks ago too, i fixed it with deleting dalvik cache and flashed the rom again. so i wanted to do again. i deleted the dalvik cache. then i (stupid ) thought before i flash again i try to reboot. and now nothing is working anymore.
Any ideas? my data is gone, right?
please help.....need my phone!!! can´t even access download mode
Try taking the battery out and have power through USB. Sometimes fixes my download mode issues.

even battery animation is not working...
the phone isn´t recognized by the pc at all...
now i got something new oO a blue magenta pattern on the whole screen

You'll have to odin to stock. I don't have any links or files on hand right now. Maybe someone will pop in and drop it for you. If not I'll have it up in a few hours. Grats on getting into dl mode. It's a start.

Stock is stock. I'm having trouble viewing the webpage but if it is an odin image it should work. You'd just want to find the latest stock image. Let me see if I can "try" and dig up a link. Don't hold me to it though. I'm in a building that eats mobile signal.

Hi - I recently tried to upgrade my ROM from a GB ROM (Octane) to one of the newer ROM's - in this case I tried the CM-9 Unofficial.
I followed the steps - copied it to the SD etc - wiped/formatted etc - installed the ROM.
Then on boot I get the Team Acid logo and the right into a boot loader - no Android OS.
So I try a system format through that - and now I'm pretty much up the creek.
I can't get into any form of recovery - I get the Team Acid and then blank screen. I know the system is working as the buttons have lit up - but they stay lit up - with zero phone activity.
As I can't put the phone into download or recovery - I can't get it to show up in Odin.
Soooo....any suggestions?
MTD ROM means Google USB drivers and Heimdall
Check for the Heimdall one-click-to-stock in the stickies
Stickies and wiki on how to get into download mode.
Or just look in the thread opened just before yours..

Hi - thanks for the quick reply but I'm not tracking you - my phone won't even register in Odin - also I followed the links, particularly this one:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=21953878&postcount=2
Now I'm even more lost
So I tried the "Heimdall One Click" and the problem lies in the fact I can't even get the phone to go to download mode like I said in my initial post - when I plug the phone in the only Samsung related item that shows is:
"Galaxy S 4G (Interface 1)" - I don't get anything like the demo page says.
Then after "reinstalling" the drivers I get a warning telling me to reboot my PC??!
So I turn the phone off - back on - same thing - I plug it into the PC and still doesn't connect.
Any more suggestions?
Take out the battery from your phone place it back in...then connect USB cable to PC(not to phone yet) then hold volume buttons(both of them) and plug in USB in about 3-5 seconds you'll see download mode

Cheers for that - finally got the yellow guy to show!
I've run Heimdall One Click - now if I wanted to get that CM9 ROM on there, do I simply drop it on the SD card again and install on the phone or are there better alternatives?
Once you get a kernel with recovery of some sort flashed, if you haven't already, you should be able to flash CM9. The AntonX one-click kernel will get you to that point, if you aren't already.
I seem to remember something about having to flash some of the ROMs twice, or flash CM9 before flashing another ROM, but that AOKP installed just fine over GB, but...
Read the OPs for the ROM you want to flash. Lots of good choices out there.

Though I appreciate the humor - especially when you're looking at what you think is a dead phone.
I'm just trying to get some more life out of this thing before I decide to just get an S3 or maybe an S2...
since you formatted the system, why not just reinstall the cm9 then wipe cache and dav cache then fix permission? are you trying to use the right instructions for going to download mode? or recovery?

Nah, the only way to 'brick' this phone besides the famous "touch down dance" (throwing your phone at the ground), is messing up the primary(ibl/pbl) and/or secondary(sbl) bootloaders. If those are still in tact on this phone, you're just soft bricked. always solved by heimdall oneclick with bootloaders.
There is a neat tool AdamOutler made (on linux only ) to find out if you are in download mode: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1257434
I've seen a few different screens where the graphics are messed up - even black blank screens, but the download mode detector has correctly detected download mode. Most 'galaxy s' phones are like this.
I always come back to here whenever I forget how to goto download mode

Yeah - it was the whole "not pressing the power button" while holding the up down volume buttons that was doing me in.
Every time it'd boot up off the phone - till you blokes were nice enough to tell me to not press the power button and just plug in the USB cable!
Anyway, all good now - surprised how well the phone runs ICS now given it's age.
Good Morning Everyone, This is my first post. I try to never post just read. I have read and read but to no avail. I have a AT&T Samsung infuse 4g. it WAS running froyo. What I mean by WAS, is that I was trying to install the modded 3e recovery so I could install clockworkmod recovery. During this process I read that I need to mount the /system partition as read/write I did this using the tool box that was created by some of your developers. It is awsome by the way. Well I did that and put a new recovery file in the /bin but it did not work as the website claimed so I thought well I should delete the old one. Bad Idea when I did the reboot it stopped me at the samsung screen. I tried to hard reboot it pulled the battery talked to it with a really kind voice and nothing happend. So I decided to use GEG's Ultimate Unbrick because this has worked for me in the past when i have messed up. So I put my phone into download mode and started the process with Odin. And here is where it gets bad.... one of my children was talking with me during the process and he decided to unplug my phone.. AHH EFFFFFF! I thought. Well when I tried to fix it it was to late. My phone will no longer turn on or even pretend to start. I am broke and cannot afford a new phone plus my wife would kill me seeing we have 6 children and it is right before christmas if I came home with a new galaxy note 2 Please Please can any one help a desperate dad with a busted Samsung Infuse. Thank you all for this awesome website that has taught me alot.. Please dont kill me for posting something someone has already posted because I could not find anything that was helpful for this situation with my phone.

Okay now I have really done it this time. So I worked a 18 hour day and thought well instead of getting some rest i will install Gingerbread on my infuse. To make a long story short while I was using odin to install it paused for a long time at the format stage, so I thought well I will just turn it off even though it says not to and then.....well it did a rainbow colored screen I tried to figure it out last night with no luck. So I have been working on it all morning the rainbow screen is gone but now it just goes from black to all white screen. I have tried every possible way to get into download mode with no luck. Am I screwed or what? Does anyone have any suggestions. If I am out of luck does anyone know if bestbuy's warrenty covers rooted phones that are [email protected] bricked?

You're too kind, Merk.
I'm not sure what happened to your phone. The Infuse is pretty sturdy. Flashing should not cause much of an issue. The faulty power button and corrosion of the circuit board were the most I've seen reported.
This is what I use to force the phone into download mode:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Micro-USB-J...665854?pt=PDA_Accessories&hash=item3f201c4f3e
Once in DL mode, it's a matter of choosing Odin or Heimdall to bring it back to stock.
One other thought, try a different battery as well.
I had the same exact problem. If the only thing the phone will do is go into download mode, then Samsung will fix it (if your still under warranty). They fixed mine and sent it back to me. Then I tried to flash another ROM on there and while it was flashing, I went to the store, and when I came back it said failed. Then it would only go into the other download mode. The one that has this (phone...!...PC). It wouldnt show up on odin 1.7 anymore. So I ended up trying a USB cable for my HTC evo v, and the drivers installed, then it popped up on Odin. I used G2G's Ultimate Unbrick (dude is a f-ng genius, all credit goes to him) and instead of putting the pit, PDA, and phone file on there and flashing, I flashed one at a time......then....I went back and flashed all at once and everything worked perfect. If your still having trouble with it, I can tell you exactly how I did it, and maybe that will work for you. Sorry to but in on this post and sorry it was so long of a reply. I just no what its like when you half brick an infuse. Mine was like that for 6 months because I couldn't get any computer to recognize it. But anyway, I hope I was helpful.

okay I tried but that didnt work either. Can you go ahead and explain "exactly" what you did maybe it will work!
Thanks again for everyones help!
Ok first I downloaded the unbrick package from this website. I downloaded the drivers for the infuse (not sure exactly where I got them from). I would just Google them. Then I tried every USB port on the laptop. Then switched cables and it finally worked. Opened Odin 1.7 and clicked pit, then flashed. Then I unplugged it, took the battery out and put back in and tried to boot. Didn't work. Then flashed PDA. Did same steps as before and still didn't work. Then flashed phone file. Tried to boot and still didn't work. Then I flashed all 3 files at once. Also, not sure if you know or not but the only thing that should be checked in Odin is f: reset time. Then the phone booted up and it stayed on at&t screen for about 5 minutes then finally came on. Also, you could also try to flash this other PDA file on there. I have the link saved on my computer but I'm not at home right now so I'll have to post that later. In easier steps
1. Put phone in Download mode and plug into pc.
2. Run Odin as admin and only thing checked is f reset time.
3.Flash pit then try to boot
4. Flash PDA then try to boot
5. Flash phone then try to boot
6. Flash all three at once
7. After flash While in download mode, unplug USB cable, take battery out and put back in
8. Reboot phone.
Sorry everything is all jumbled, I just got back to my home state from a road trip and I'm running on about 6 hours of sleep in 3 days. I hope this works for you. Also, there is a video on YouTube of a unbrick service for the phone. Its $30. I personally would not try it but its just an idea if you would want to.

I had the issue where I had the phone, the exclamation mark, and the computer symbol (The Black Screen of Death: Imaged Attached), that is all it would show when I turned it on. I thought the phone was completely bricked until I did the following, which put it into a hidden download mode and allowed ODIN to recognize it. I DID NOT NEED TO BUY A USB JIG.
1. Make sure you have Odin already downloaded and ready to go.
2. Remove the SIM and SD Cards
3. Load up Odin and make sure it is up and running on the computer. DO NOT plug your phone into the computer yet.
4. Reinstall the Battery and plug the phone to the USB cable to the computer.
5. Hold down both Volume keys and then push and hold the power button
6. Keep holding the buttons until it goes to black, KEEP HOLDING A SECOND TIME until it goes to black and the icon comes back on.
7. Now when it goes Black the second time release the Power button only.
8. You should now be in Download mode. The key is holding the buttons, letting it go to black once, and then letting it go to black again, and then release only the power button while your fingers are still on the volume buttons.
9. Now Odin should recognize the phone on a Com port (turn yellow).
10. You are now ready to return it back to stock.
I hope this helps!
did you ever get your infuse fixed man?

Yes I tried to make my own jig but my fat shaky hands could get the end of the wires to hit the correct contacts so I ordered one online and that got me into download mode! Now I'm running jelly bean! Thanks to everyone that helped out I love you guys!!!! PS. Don't skip backing up your efs folder!! Unless you want a headache. But with all my problems it has taught me a lot. My number one tip is to read read read there is always an answer! Thanks again everyone! Always hit the thanks button its the least we can do for all of these brilliant hard working developers.

I have like many, played with my Android for 2 years now. I have a bricked Infuse GB (finally toyed with it to its death last week), so I pulled out my old Froyo unrooted backup. I rooted with SuperOneClick - easy. I made some kernel tweaks in Rom Toolbox Pro, and also changed a few status bar icons. I did several reboots and all was running well. I did need to adjust some more tweaks but I saved those for my next big change, when I decided to.
...look into more of what I could do and downloaded the zip file for Voodoo Sound. I read that this could do wonders on my Froyo stock rom and was compatible - actually, I read fairly safe. So I can't say if this caused this or not. It could have been my lack of booting after each simple change, font, notification icons..etc. But I didn't do much more before I flashed Voodoo Sound
I downloaded SGS Kernal Flasher from the market, and when I flashed and it booted, I got the SAMSUNG screen. Then followed by a new black screen with GALAXY S GT-I9000 in white with Samsung logo on bottom. And it stays frozen. I cannot enter recovery mode or download mode to my knowledge - or should I say, experience.
Since this was my backup and what I was doing seemed relatively harmless Im a bit shocked. I loved that my font and icons were changing, something I couldn't do with my gingerbread infuse using rom toolbox pro.
So now I am stuck on a bootscreen I've never seen before, nor intended to flash if that is what happened. Was this flashing Voodoo Sound or was it my negligence with other? I just rooted this yesterday after getting too frustrated to fix the GB. I don't think I had but 4 apps downloaded and really left most of the build.prop stuff alone beyond some minor adjustments for battery life.
So I'm stuck on a boot screen with a phone model I am not familiar with, cannot get into download mode or into recovery mode. I had a TWRP Recovery zip file I never set up yet, never got CWM recovery working - regardless, I just started playing with it so I'm lost as I thought I could just wipe, reinstall packages and reboot fresh. I hate this to be my first post, but I usually find all the answers I need from you guys and I appreciate all the efforts you put into this site to help noobs like myself from creating disasters. I just didn't know what to do and if I'm not hard bricked, I don't want to end up that way.
I thought unrooting would work, but I can't get into the phone so it won't connect to the computer. Also, when plugged in, it shows a battery frozen at zero. I know it's probably charging but that must mean I messed up something that starts at boot. Anyone willing to help me resolve this issue and get me back on so I can make phone calls again - something I should probably stick too, haha. But sometimes, mistakes are the best teachers...so maybe I'll learn something easy from the pros here.
Well u have the wrong kernel flashed some how
I would try a different computer and go for the heimdall package to take phone back to stock.
As soon as you do get to download mode and I know it sucks with bad kernel flash I did before my self. Gotta just keep trying ..... If you got power u can get download mode.
For more information go to qkster thread ...

Thank you, I'll search that out. Well, I thought bricking was more potential, but if I can do a recovery on both that'd be great. I backed all up to laptop and gdrive before - and actually thought about leaving it "new". As my first root and tweaking, or "modding" out the GB was great. And I never picked Froyo back up, but I just wiped it and rooted it yesterday, and I only used it for a month when I got it (long story with phone provider and a dent on the side (but I have two Infuses,Froy and GB)
But I am going to stay away from flashing. That got the GB...but since you brought up the power option. I thought they were toast. If it takes me a few days to learn, I'd do it in a heart beat - they both have power and that means I can get them both working. The GB has a PC on left, Phone on right and a triangle in middle. I didn't read into fixing that - which I thought would be tougher than grabbing my other. Maybe I can get both working and get some more insight.
I appreciate it, and anyone else who inputs. I'll start reading into that other thread after dinner, cross your fingers for me. :fingers-crossed:
I cannot find the specific thread you were directing me to. But I was successful after many attempts to enter download mode. It is being recognized but unable to access the insides of my phone. If I click reboot from download mode (volume down), it boots to the stuck Samsung logo. If I push up, it's in download mode, but I have nothing to send commands to it as it's not being recognized beyond the Samsung USB composite.
Can someone direct me to where the thread may be about the frozen/stuck Samsung boot logo? Also, frozen 0% battery level but charged all night.
I'm trying to find something specific on this but it's difficult being an Infuse Froyo and I'm stuck on the Galaxy S GTI900 which was never there before my last reboot - obviously whatever I flashed was probably for the Galaxy S. I get SAMSUNG, then the Galaxy S screen...can't seem to get into recovery because it's too fast before stuck again.
Take out the battery, put it back in do not turn it on hit volume up and volume down plug in USB that's the download mode you are looking for
