About to give up on my thunderbolt - Thunderbolt General

Don't seem like we ever gonna get the update I'm thinking bout rooting it today
Sent from my ADR6400L using XDA App

I'd root
I just moved from EVO 3D (Sprint) to Verizon. I rooted mine day one. After being on CM7 for so long with my OG Evo, I just couldn’t pass it up.
Now, I have ANY update I choose. Do it. You can always go back and UNroot.

But you won't... EVER!
Just root it, you'll never look back.

why did you leave the evo 3D for Verizon?

I had the EVO 3d and loved it. The Sprint coverage for me was horrible so I had to go big red. Started out with the LG revolution.... What a turd of a phone that was... Came to the thunderbolt and am very happy. It's no EVO 3d but its still the best choice on Verizon.

CM7's most recent version for thunderbolt with MR2/2.5 radio is really solid and sexy, would highly recommend.

4G Speeds of 1-2MBPS?

Running CM7 Test 4 on the new radio. Finally got 4G to switch on and stay on but my speeds are terribly low (0-2mbps). I believe im running REV A enabled per the advice of someone in the CM7 thread.. Any idea's? I was so happy to see that 4g icon light up but its still running like its on 3g.

It might be the network? I'm not saying it is but it's something to think about.

It would be helpful to know what area are you from. Could be network issue.
If you're in NYC the speeds should be normal.

I think it's something with cm7 and the recent 4g outage. Pretty sure slayher commented about it on his twitter. I'm sure it'll be fixed in an update soon.

For anyone interested it was the network. Rom works fine once its got a lock on 4g. Had it stable all day. Speeds shot back up without a reboot or anything

Eris on Cyanogenmod version 7

Ha! Even my last phone, the Droid Eris, has a signed Cyanogenmod version 7 install for it. It works and looks awesome. Gave this one to my nephew. He's very happy Wish Thunderbolt were there ...can't wait.
Interesting.

How long has the Eris been out for? How long has the Thunderbolt been out for?
Is it the 4g part that makes it difficult or is it taking about as long as any other phone? EVO, I think, got cyanogen pretty quickly when it came out...maybe I'm wrong.

Cyanogen had a good friend with an Evo that was readily available for testing. And when he released it WiMAX didn't work.

GB update?

Any word on when att will push out the GB update? I hear sometime this summer but didn't know if anyone has heard of a specific date.

Nope, nothing definite yet. You'll know it is getting close when you see a leaked ROM come up as a story on the tech sites, as you see with most other phones who get their updated ROMs leaked.

+1. Usually you'll see an article on Android Central or Phandroid when one leaks.

I don't care what day it gets released anymore. It's probably going to take a long while knowing AT&T. I just want it to hurry up and get leaked.

I hear ya on that! A leaked ROM would tell me that it is in the pipeline and would be released in a couple, or a few months afterwards. After seeing all the other HTC phones get leaks of gingerbread, (Evo, Evo Shift, Desire, Desire HD, and Thunderbolt), getting official announcements, or actually receiving the updates, I'm wondering where our leak is. I'm not complaining, just would like to see a leak soon to know it is coming. I just would like us to get word of a leaked ROM, preferably before they officially announce the rumored Holiday. Especially since the Holiday is gonna be my next phone after I hit my upgrade.

There was a leaked ROM for the unbranded DHD a weeks or so ago. Surprised I haven't seen any ROMs based on it yet. I've been running it for a week or so and it seems super stable.

Man, that white battery cover is sexy as hell. I so want it and can't seem to find it anywhere online.

I also got the white one for AT&T.
One thing you'll learn quickly is that with the official radio on the i9020a, the data speeds are capped in the ROM. You should probably read this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1116884
You will need to unlock the bootloader and root the device in order to apply the fix but after that you will love the speeds you can get on your NS.
What radios are working well for you all? I haven't had a chance to read up on them yet.

I've got the white one on ATT as well...
i have it and love it! Although, I am considering getting the Galaxy S2 unlocked

From what i've read so far, the KB3 radio is the best for the AT&T version (i9020a)
One month later.
Do you guys regret paying full price now that the nexus s is officially on at&t. I did for a minute but then I was reminded that it have the white one so I don't regret.

Works well, a little to basic for me. Personally I enjoy the options to fully customize. Does have great potential.

Things like this will not be tolerated. Calling something garbage is rude and insulting, Not allowed.
Swearing in the forums will get you a one way ticket to bansville.
This is my only warning.
Looks like z beat me to it but I'm going reiterate what he said.
Cut the crap or get banned. Your choice.
