my3G for android / wifi simulator for android - Android Software/Hacking General [Developers Only]

Hi,
I am a previous Iphone user. I've just switch over to android! Being an Iphone user, I know that there is a certain wifi simulator app called my3G in the Iphone community. It allows the phone to think that it is on wifi but in actuality it is on 3G. So for all apps that needs wifi, (E.g. facetime, downloading of apps more than a certain size in itunes appstore and certain other apps) my3G can simulate that the phone is on wifi and enable whatever features that is being locked to "wifi only".
Order and chaos will need the phone to be hooked up on wifi to be able to play online. But if there is an app that simulates wifi on an android phone, then we will be able to play the game on the streets rather then in the workplace or at home. Of course this wifi simulator's application will be more then what I've suggested! All wifi-only features will be unlocked on any program!
So is there an app for the Android community which does what I've described???

I also have the same problem. In the area where I live there and then WIFI ADSL connection. The only way to connect is through the mobile network 3g hsdpa. All Gameloft games need instead of a wifi connection. It 'possible that with all programs there is no one like Android My3G?
thanks

BUMP
10 characters

This should be bumped daily!! The only app I miss from my iphone is My3g and not being able to skype over 3g just isn't cool. Anyone?!

Buuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuump

Another bump, as I have yet to find a way to do this. I just want to use my 4G connection to play Gameloft games, and none of the workarounds allow that.

another bump, is that app so complicated that it can't be run on the stupidroid
my3g app is very famous on IOS so why no one want to make something similar for android platform ?!!!!

[Request] GPS/Location Spoofer

This could be very useful on a number of levels. Most notably, NBA League Pass so you can watch games that are blacked out in your area.
Here's how they hacked the League Pass app on the iPhone.
http://www.coderetard.com/2010/01/19/how-to-remove-nba-league-pass-restrictions-on-iphone/
I would be down for a similar hack of the app, or a different app that would fake your GPS location. I have the League Pass APK for those interested.
Certainly possible, android has support for "mock locations". You can find it in the development settings under settings->applications
There is some info here: http://developer.android.com/guide/topics/location/index.html
I looked on a rooted G1 and the "geo" program isn't included. Might be as easy as copying it from an emulator to a rooted phone, i'm not sure.
An actual android app might also be able to do it using the permissions
ACCESS_LOCATION_EXTRA_COMMANDS and ACCESS_MOCK_LOCATION.
It is possible to get the name of the location provider when requesting a provider, however, so the app might have taken this trick into account and only allow it to use the true network location provider.
I'm also really interested in this
This would be great, I was about to try to access through the terminal on the phone and try the android.location method, still a little confusing but it just kills the use of the mobile app.
The whole point of the mobile NBA app is so you can view your local team because you are not by a t.v.. Especially my Lakers.
I would also be interested in something like this for the NBA league pass too...
GO CAVS! hahh...
This would be awesome for the android. I can never watch the games because there always blackout in cleveland. GO CAVS!1
Coded this in a few minutes, let me know if it works (I tried to open Maps and it said I was in L.A. )
You have to enable mock locations in Settings -> Development.
It seems to work, thank you very much!!
If you have a Paypal account, I'll happily donate so you can have a couple of beers
Now, does anybody if is there a NBA League Pass application I can buy to watch the playoff games?
Thanks a lot! I have a donation button on my Android apps website

Done, thank you again.
I guess I'll be also able to use this for TV.com app and several others
By the way, would it be possible to keep a list of locations stored? You know, Alaska to avoid NBA blackouts, London to get some English content...
Thank you in advance.
Is this working? I'm trying to watch the Laker game right now. I put in the coordinates and set the location. It seems to be spoofing Maps but League pass is telling me to make sure my location service is on and turn off airplane mode.
Damn, i was hopeful. But pandora still knows I'm not in the US.
Here I am
First of all, I published the app on the Market, so if you want to stay updated download it here.
@reycat: Good idea, I'm gonna add a list of the last locations used.
@CaliLove310: I'm not from the US, could you enlighten me on the blackout rules for playoff games? I read somewhere that they are broadcasted on national TV, so they aren't available on League Pass in any part of the States.
@liam.lah: I installed Pandora, it seems to know your location even if you disable both wireless networks and GPS. I suppose it uses the IP address for geolocation, so you'll need a US proxy to make it work...
Thank you very much, ajejee.
Just updated to the market version, I really like choosing the location in the map, much easier than remembering latitudes and longitudes
By the way, we cannot try NBA League Pass now because of the playoffs, but... can anybody give TV.com app a try? It force closes in my Nexus One every time, but maybe somebody else can try it and check if he/she can watch US TV shows
"Last locations" option added, there should be an update on the Market
Ajejee. Thanks for this app .
Im wondering if there is a reason gps spoofing works but why wifi wont load the videos on nhl and nba apps? The videos load good with 3g connection though.
Stock droid x unrooted.
Thanks for your response.
You can use location spoofer on the market works with center ice

i'm using the one from the market. it works great with 3g but not with wifi. I get the message "this video cannot be played"
I set the time to spoof for like 5 mins and then load the app when the game starts. Set the spoofed for like Australia or something. Mine works on both wifi and 3g.

[Q] Downloading from the market on a PC

A friend of mine wants to buy a Desire S. He won't have 3G in his subscription for the mobile phone. In other words: the phone could only have an internet-connection by using WiFi.
Unfortunately, he doesn't have a WiFi access point in his house, because his father can not stand the radiation. All the internet-connections in his house are wired, and none of the neighbours have an unsecured WiFi access point.
So, this would mean he can't use the market, because the phone can't be connected to internet at his house. Ofcourse, he could download apps at school or at one of his friend's houses, but this is a bit unpractical.
In other words; I am looking for a certain app on the PC or a website, which can browse through the Market, and download the APKs, so he can install them manually (only the free ones ofcourse).
I already checked AndroLib and Cyrket, but none of them provides a downloadlink, only a QR-code.
Is there any alternative, or is the only way of downloading apps at his house searching APKs manually by using Google?
Thanks in advance.
That's a tough one. You can browse the market from any browser. You just need to go to https://market.android.com/.
However, when you "purchase" an app, it will only send via cellular, not internet.
I wish you luck on this.
Well, you could do that on Nokia phones by accessing the 'ovi' site and using some parameters to make the site "think" you were accessing using a mobile phone. In Android Market I don't think you can do that... But there's a way to get the programs needed: with YOUR help !!!
If you have an Android phone, you can download the apps he needs and then backup them using Titanium Backup or App Backup and Reinstall. The 'apk' files will be saved in a directory and you can send them to your friend by bluetooth, or put then on a usb pen...
But... let me tell you this: the Android phone relies SO MUCH in internet data that not having wifi nor 3g subscription is almost a crime, specially having a Desire S !!!
Thanks for the help guys!
Guess I'll have to help him whenever he wants new apps, but that isn't a big deal.
At least there is another one who switched to Android
just google the file and youll get the app.

how to play games offline?

I like to take my shield on car trips, so WiFi isn't something that's on the freeway around here.
I buy a game at the play store (asphalt 8 and worms) and they won't boot up unless they have WiFi to do checks of authenticity... Sigh... Making me wish I just pirated the games in the first place to avoid this kind of crap.
How do I play games with these kind of start up checks when I have no WiFi at all?
Note: I have never done any form of hacking on an android before.
Most games do not do any authentication. Those that do, you would have to disable it on a per case basis as each app would authenticate in its own way, I think asphalt relies on an internet connection for more than authentication though so will probably not work offline.
Best would be to tether your internet connection from your phone. If you do not have one maybe get someone else to setup a mobile hotspot for u.. No other way unless u have an illegal copy which plays offline.
I think lucky patcher may halp you...u can remove authentication from game...and after that may be it will work..its very good android app ....

[Q] NEtwork games without network

Well, The question is, how can i play games that require network, without a network connection.
For e.g. i recently installed DEAD TRIGGER 2 and it requires active internet connection, is there a way to play this game without the active internet connection??
So far as I know, Dead Trigger is only an online game for the fact to minimize the rang of lamers that can play it in a bad way.
Man, so far, it's impossible!
Luck!
Sent from my C2105 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
I played fifa 12 that requires connection but played it without. I just googled a custom apk with instructions on how to and yeah..
damn!
Impossible??
there must be something, like we have virtual CD roms..there must some Virtual Network too to fool the device

possible cause of it might be configuration with LTE settings. Another thing possible is the restriction posed by AV with configuration not to allow mobile data communication and prevent unwanted data charges

there is a solution, just find the app that blocks it, as example is AV. Sometimes other apps installed used to optimize phone has that kind of restriction also.
