Broken LCD - Samsung Infuse 4G

Looking to fix a broken LCD screen on my Infuse 4G. The screen still works just has a crack. I know I don't need a full assembly, digitizer or LCD backlite, all I need is the top glass. I can't find anyone who sells just the glass everyone wants to sell the assembly for $200+. Is there glass part available or am I screwed? I've replaced iphone 3gs screens b4 anyone have experience with the infuse?

How'd you break the screen? Also if the glass is broken its not the lcd presumably? Although if it is the lcd I'd think $200 is about what it would cost to replace. The phone is supposed to have gorilla glass that like won't break, right?

Gorilla glass can and will break, just not as easily as normal glass.

its just the glass I'm hoping I can find the part and not have to buy the whole top half with (glass, digitizer & lcd) anyone got a part number?

its not an lcd, its an amoled.

does that mean i can only buy it like in an Assembly, No top glass part. is it all just on part?

it might be like a digitizer and then the screen below that...

Just spoke with Samsung at 1-888-987-4357.
They will repair for $155.
Seems like the way to go if needing repair.

As far as I know, samoled screens are fused with the glass over it. thats why you can only buy the entire screen/glass/digitizer as one part.
Good thing about this design is better sunlight viewability and no dust under the glass

Generic Chinese Screen Protector comparison

Reading the terrible Zagg reviews I thought I'd look at the generic screen protectors that come at 1/20th the cost.
I didn't buy an HTC one but had a couple of iPod ones that came with a case years ago. I cut it into a square and fitted it to half the screen.
It was very easy to fit, clean the screen with your glasses cloth or any such thing, use something solid and dust free to fan away any dust that lands, E.g. a credit card, peel off the bottom tab and place on. It was simple enough pushing the bubles to the edge with the card or fingernails.
I saw people were worried about the guard changing the colour slightly or making it fuzzy and even making it more greasy than normal so I took some photos to show you. They feel like plastic, not like the screen but they're not sticky and they come clean off. Obviously the guard is on the top of the screen and the edges are rough because it's hard to cut.
Let me know what you think, I rekon I'll get a couple and see how it goes as they're only 50p and work great.
Its a very big spam i have latest zagg full body protector and its purfect...

Nice, never liked the back cover though

Gorilla Glass? No.

I now have first-hand confirmation that the 4G Slide does not have Gorilla Glass.
As a side note, anybody know if the glass is bonded to the LCD screen?
afaik no its not

so bad news... i knew it wasn't gorilla glass but hoped it was another kind of reinforced glass...
how did it happen?
It was in my shirt pocket wrong, and I bent over to get my dropped keys, it fell out and hit the sidewalk just right.
so not even a fall from too high, sad
I dropped mine from about 5' onto a marble subway platform without a scratch. Maybe I was just very lucky. The back flew off and battery fell out, but put them back on and no problems.

i've never personally had a phone with gorilla glass, but everybody tells me that they have had horrible experiences with it and it seems to be less durable. any thoughts?
I own a galaxy s2 und I have nothing wrong to say about the gorilla glass.
I dropped mine (as others it seems) from my pocket while bending down to grab something.
I got scratches on the frame but Nothing happened to the glass.
I am everything BUT disappointed.

gorilla glass is not as horrible as everyone says it is very duarble and great it does not scratch and ive never had a problem with it but no the mt4gs does not have gorilla glass and is bonded bye a few wires and special glue around the sides

<---- what was i thinking lol
Not sure.
I got a replacement OEM digitizer from China. I havent installed it yet. Can you tell me about the adhesive which bonds the LCD to the digitizer? Was this a real pain to remove and did your new digitizer have some adhesive on it?
Im not sure about your colors, although I know there are factory LCD tests that can be performed, etc. They can be dangerous though so be careful... I would double check your connector, if thats not it.. Ask for refund and try another place.
Did the seller say it was OEM? And for your exact model?
I had a laptop screen a while back that did that, and it was because the connector was not pushed all the way in. It would periodically come loose, and I would have to disassemble the screen and push the connector back it. Maybe see if you can push it in farther or secure it better?

My digitizer is from china to. The adhesive is on the digitizer and glue to the frame in the first pic. LCD is not glue just trapped in between frame & digitizer. I used a a hairdryer to free the digitizer. I should of heated it more very hard to remove the glue my razor blade got to close to the LCD that why I replaced it & I ordered the LCD by mistake so I used the new LCD from china.
I check the connector the Green Gone! I can use my Tab plus again. But I think the LCD from china is not as good as the samsung. That what I get for being cheap $40 w/shipping
Thanks for the help!

Tempered Glass question.. (continuing usage of slightly damaged protector)

Hey guys, just a general question about tempered glass protectors, is it generally okay to keep a slightly cracked tempered glass protector on a device? There are layers above and below the actual glass correct?
In the picture is a Zerolemon Tempered Glass protector on my tablet, however I also have tempered glass on my nexus 5, so I'd like to know for possible future reference. Thanks!

I'm just slightly concerned about the slightly cracked protector coming in contact with the actual screen. I checked the other side and the bottom layer where the adhesive is and it seems normal and not damaged, same with the top most layer.

It could scratch if it was loose and rubbing up against the screen, but I can't see any other issues myself. That said, I'm hardly an authority on this
i had a MIME tempered glass screen protector that cracked from the ear piece hole... used it for months, the cracks grew bigger, eventually i got a new one from them. when i removed it, it was perfect underneath
The new one i have also cracked it from a small drop, and i am sure it will be fine underneath

Tempered glass screen protector not fitting properly

Hey all,
I tried installing a tempered glass screen protector but it simply won't stick on one corner of the phone. If you try to fit it again and start sticking it from the other end, then the other side won't stick.
It is like the screen is not even.
Went to a local store today to fit another brand but they encountered the same problem.
Anyone faced this issue before? Maybe I'm not using a good enough brand? Kinda frustrating.
Thanks all

I'm using the Spartan tempered glass protector from extreme guard. Works great for me and it was super cheap.

Never had an issue with Spartan Tempered Glass.
As above. Just put mine on. It was only a few pounds from eBay and went on super easy. Much better than the film type protectors you get. Sorry you're having trouble with yours. Could very well be an issue with your screen.
Thanks guys,
I went to another store and just got a generic tempered glass one and it actually fitted great! Not sure what went wrong with the first two.

glad to hear it. At least you know now it was the protectors with the issue and not your phone enjoy!
I have been running with HTC One (M9) - Flexible Glass from PureGear and I have loved it. To put in on, you put it in the holder and just roll it on. Has not peeled at all, and is great quality. Went with this one because my store carried it and i wanted something to protect it as soon as i got it

i like the Glass-M screen protector. hight quality in glass and industrial design. http://glass4m.com/product/glass-m-premium-tempered-glass-screen-protector-for-htc-m9
