Knobody wants to give up there secrets.
Just hope every rom doesn't get updated before it can be proven that this update is actually better and not worse, than the problems already being dealt with.

Verizon?

I'm currently switching from sprint to Verizon I was just wondering if there was any way I can use my ns4g on Verizon's network? Its rooted and unlocked

Nope, sure isn't. Why did you buy a NS4G if you were going to Verizon?

I just switched to sprint from T-Mobile I didn't realize how horrible there data is around here and Verizon has great lte coverage around here. I definitely wasn't expecting T-Mobile to be faster then sprint

To answer you unsarcastically, no you cannot. Verizon will not activate a phone that is not theirs. If you're looking for a stock Android experience on Verizon, check out the Xperia Play, and if you're looking for a 4-inch smartphone, check out the HTC Incredible 2.
Incredible 2 is locked down. I don't think anyone has even rooted it yet. Thunderbolt has a decent CM7 alpha, but isn't a good phone. OG incredible is a great phone but very small. Bionic should be dropping shortly, it will also most likely be locked. Oh, there's always the Samsung Charge

Don't forget the Revolution and if HTC sticks to their word the DInc2 may see an unlocked bootloader. If that happens that phone will be a beast. I got one in trade really cheap so I'm hoping lol.

LOL, I agree. INC2 will be an amazing phone. I HOPE it gets unlocked, but I doubt they will unlock already released phones. It will be new phones that unlock "promise" will affect. I hope that isnt the case...

lol, im kind of fond of moto myself. i think locking the droid x and droid 2 was the biggest mistake they could have ever made. a moto nexus would be very cool. LG, I dont know that I would really go out of my way to get it.

Have you seen what theyve done with blur in the GB builds on the X? very cool now, even for blur I think if the X hadnt been locked and we colud get aosp on it, it would have gone down as a legend. It would still be relevant in another year or 2.

Yeah I played with it and actually ported a version of the GingerBlur UI theme to the Fascinate. Its an improvement no doubt. Hardware wise like I mentioned earlier moto is solid. Its actually still got some good specs (the DX2 refresh would have been a monster with an LTE radio). I agree aosp would have been a beast on it. CVPCS is still working on CM for it...the

Why does Google forget the first Nexus s?

just read an artical on androidcentral that the htc google nexus one got android 2.3.6.
In the meantime nexus s 4G got andorid 2.3.7 and the normal nexus s is still n 2.3.4
why do they forget this device where there are still lott of bugs with wifi and keeping connection with google.
Hopefully this will better with ics
Will the NS even get ICS? :/
Sent from my Desire HD using Tapatalk
if the nexus even got gingerbread and now 2.3.6 then the ns would get ics or i will never buy a nexus phone again
I'm really pissed at this too! If they were to give an explanation, fine, but there ain't nothing been said!
Sent from my Nexus S
I dont think the nexus one will not because google doses not want to but b/c of the hardware its too outdated it has little memory, ram etc so it will be buggy and laggy and goovle would prefer a much smoother experience I heard once it got gingerbread it was acting slow, nexus prime 4 me : D
Sent from my HTC Glacier using Tapatalk
2.3.6 was a bug fix for a bug the original Nexus S doesn't have, same with 2.3.5. 2.3.7 on the other hand brought Google Wallet which is Sprint Exclusive and since i9020t has GSM bands and not CDMA and can therefore not run on Sprint's network we don't get it.
The 2.3.6 update stared rolling out to Nexus S devices on September 2nd. From what I've read, it is mainly to fix the search button bug that has been affecting some NSs. So far I think only Canadian NSs have received the update, though.
I wouldn't be so upset that you're not receiving the update though because there are reports that it kills tethering and portable hotspot.
http://thisismynext.com/2011/09/02/...ate-confirmed-rolling-out-tethering-problems/
I wouldn't be too worried about ice cream sandwich. Google wants the open handset alliance to commit to 18 months of updates for all devices. (I suppose this would be 18 months from launch, rather than 18 months from whenever you happened to buy it.) I can't image them not updating a pure google phone for even 12 months. I wouldn't be surprised if the n1 got it, too.

Says the guy who is logical and not knee jerking. Why is everyone up in arms about not getting an update the targeted bug fixes NOT for their device? Outside of 2.3.7 you're not missing anything.
Wallet was always going to be a Sprint exclusive launch since it was announced.
If you want the latest build Google provides the binaries, source and instructions to build an AOSP rom. It's simple and you can easily always be as up to date as you would like.

N1 is mostly AT&T in the US right? And 2.3.6 kills built in tethering right? Mystery solved.

2.3.7 integrated Google wallet withe the NFC chip that's in the nexus s. The nexus 1 doesn't have NFC!

I don't see any problem here. My 2.3.4 running i9023 is working just fine, without any search/tethering/reception/other problems, so I guess those fixes don't apply to my device
Maybe device specific fixes should have some kind of unique name? Like 2.3.4a?
If anyone is here to be blamed, I would point out Samsung for making at least 4 different devices named Nexus S with their own issues i9023 is not even anywhere officially listed as SNS...
Oh, and stock GB on N1 was not even close to be as good as on SNS. 2 second wait before call answer anyone?
Good day gentlemen
For the people with the original nexus s complaining...I feel you cause I have it myself. Yes at first I was pissed of about not getting updates. But after doing some research I finally realized we have in all the nexus versions have the perfect built. Update 2.3.5 brings better 4G reception for sprint users. I also wanted 4G but not noticing my phone does run hsdpa even though it says 3G. Update 2.3.6 brought voice search fixes. That we don't need. And now 2.3.7 it is not googles fault they wanted google wallet to get pushed through but T-Mobile has a deal with ISIS another form of mobile payment. So yes I understand your frustrations. But know it is not googles fault its your carriers like myself T-Mobile. And which I think tmo is no longer running the show but at&t. So be happy with your original nexus s it is the perfect built among others.
And I'm a proud user of my nexus s running stock 2.3.4 rooted

Why is there such a lack of roms

I have an evo and my ns4g and I'm just curious as to why there is such a lack of roms for nexus s 4g. There's tons of roms for evo but very few for ns4g. Dev support Is great quick to fix issues but little variety. Or is there somewhere I'm not looking because I've searched endlessly here and on Google and androidforum but I only find a couple of roms
Sent from my Nexus S 4G using xda premium
People who make ROMs for other phones generally want an AOSP experience, which we as Nexus owners have out of the box.
What are you looking for in a ROM that your not finding exactly?
Also take a read here, as this was previously discussed:

Uh wut? Nexus ICS alphas have been floating around for weeks.
The evo is always going to have more roms available at any given time, since there's a ton of devs working on that phone... And more options because of Sense.
First of all the things we have are sdk ports so they don't count. Second I would rather have a rom with half busted stuff than nothing like we do now. Wahh it sucks.

I don't think that someone has a decent working ICS right now.
But come on, don't start a ton of new threads just to aks why there's no ics. I know it's exciting but after all it's just ICS xD
And it's just a max. of 1 month waiting time 'till the ota gets out. I would go so far to say that no one of us will die from waiting
Max one month is a huge overstatement. It will be a miracle on xda street if we get an ota in a month. Mark my words.

I don't know. I just went over to the Evo forum to see what was going on, and they were struggling just to get the sdk port to work.

[Q] Nexus Sense Rom?

Hey guys,
So I keep seeing this Nexus Sense Rom pop up all over the place, but it seems like it has disappeared and can't be downloaded anymore for flashing. I just got the Nexus on AT&T so go easy on me, as this may be old news...lol.
I remember seeing a video, not too long ago, showing off a sense rom on the ns but I'm not sure if that ever made it to prime time here on xda. Its possible that it did but alluded me if it was a non 4g build but the closest thing I recall to that is a port from the Droid x to the ns4g. I believe its called nexusblur or something to that effect.... it was a solid port btw- only missing a few things like 4g and maybe wifi. Also worth noting that I'm pretty sure it never made its way over to your device on the non 4g side of things. Hope that helps
