Who said you can't root?
Ginger break v1.2 after alpharevx s-off

Settings> Audio> pocket mode off, vibration feedback off, other stuff that might use the proximity and the G sensor off.
Also check your installed apps some of them tend to stay active even after you "quit" them (you can't actualy quit). Download "system panel" for that, and you will see in te left of an app if it uses the cpu Even if an app is there is not actualy draining battery, only if it uses the cpu.
So don't use task killers, they will only drain you more battery.
I keep my screen on auto brightness, and i still get 2 days.
Hope i helped you.
Though I just S-off and rooted but will still try out what you guys say

I don't have a problem with my Desire S regarding the battery, i mainly use it for sms and few calls disabled wifi, bluetooth, brightness very low, disabled key tones, and vibrate. For 12hrs i still have 94% batt life left..

Leedroid ROM, and unity kernel = awesome combination.
I get really really good battery life
At least much better than stock!
I'm using LBC mod, the newest released version works wonders for the battery!

I used to have this problem constantly. I'm not lucky when it comes to battery life.
Could be the battery. Try LBC v0.6 and get setcpu. See if that helps if you haven't done so already.
Unity kernel sucked my battery dry.

Have you tried the tiamat kernel? Also, I recommend investing in Tasker to squeeze the most out of your battery. Simply having it automatically go into airplane mode when you sleep helps. Get it (like me) turning auto-sync on for 2 minutes every 15 minutes aswell, and you get over 24 hours battery with heavy use.

On second inspection. Yes LBC is still draining my battery dry. You're not alone. It's beautiful when screen off, but as soon as the screen is on, and its like 1% per minute. Scary.

I had this problem when still on stock ROM and had a few widgets collecting data in the background. It wasn't all that severe though; I had to charge the phone once a day. Since I installed LBC mod, I only have to charge the phone every two days
Use this to track down the battery drain...
https://market.android.com/details?id=com.asksven.betterbatterystats
And/or this...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1031124
If it's data traffic related this'll point you at which specific app is using it...
https://market.android.com/details?id=com.radioopt.widget&feature=search_result
Then either un-install the culprit, or try different kernel, or freeze the sucka using Titanium Backup. See if that helps. Either way, would be interested to know what you discover.
1% per minute is scary drain I agree. Something not quite right there. You're not OC to silly levels are you?
Yes, the new lbc ROM gas a drainage problem... Mine was dropping very fast. Switched back to leedroid, great battery life again! (Stock kernel) I also use setcpu
I reckon it could last me 2 days moderate usage, and 3 light usage!

Hi all.
Looking for some serious help. Coming from a Samsung vibrant. I need help with how to save battery life on the sensation. I have been off charger for 5 hours and 51 minutes and am down to 41%. Is this normal? I have been only texting really. I got my data from battery monitor.
Thanks in advance. Anyway to make this better?

It all depends on what you're using the phone for. I'm at 55% after 12 hours. yesterday I got 17 hours. if all you're doing us texting then no,thats not normal. but I suspect you're probably doing more with it than you realize since its a new toy.

He prolly has running wifi as well?

Stop Android from phoning home and you'll save greatly on battery life.
Best way I've found to prevent battery drain, is to stop Android from phoning home.
Once you use an app like Autostarts to stop unnecessary things from starting up all the time on their own and also block a couple ports that are not always needed via an app like DroidWall, you'll see great battery life. Also see other details in that link of things I turned off to increase battery life amoung other benefits.
For now, I can only speak for seeing the difference while using a Nexus One ROM on my HD2, but I have way better battery life, GPS lock times and faster device boot ups than ever before.
This is yet another one of the reasons I must wait till the Sensation is rooted and unlocked. Because I'm not using it while it's running things I can't better manage, so they don't drain my battery.

Well to be honest for the 8 hours I'm at work, I use it light. texting, a few calls and about 30 minutes of reading pulse and playing games. However the next 8-9 hours I would consider moderate to heavy use. I have no monitors or anything running, just running straight out of the box.
I'm at 34% after 14.5 hours today.
I charged it fully the first day, ran it to 0, then charged it fully again last night.

Did draining it out help? It is really killing my battery. When my phone idles it loses about 7 percent an hour. Is this normal?
Sent from my HTC Sensation 4G using XDA Premium App
Mine is at most 3% per hour so I would say check if you have any running apps that aren't supposed to be.
I suppose draining could have helped but I have no way of knowing for sure

Sent from my HTC Sensation Z710e using XDA App
I think mine's even worse. Phone was off charger at 100% at 11am, by 1:30PM it's already down to 80%ish. By 4PM it was down to 40%ish, got it charged up to about 70%ish around 6PM, by midnight I was around 6% again.
So I think I'm losing around 10%/hr. That's gotta be abnormal, and the battery gets really hot too. At the moment, I have several speculations:
1. Death grip causing the phone to work harder to find signal, and tmo's coverage kinda sucks in my town
2. I have defective unit/battery
3. Some apps behind the scene are killing it. But I've checked what's running behind, even turned off unnecessary stuff using autorun manager. Auto sync is turned of only for gmails. Weather, IMAP mails, pulse, facebook etc are set to pull in couple hrs instead hourly. The battery life cannot be worse than my 2-yr old HD2.
Hey guys. Have you considered bump charging. HTC advised the idea for the HTC desire battery and it in most cases doubles the battery.
Sorry I can't be more specific bit I'm on my phone. I have found the relevant link. Read the 1st post. I'm gonna do it when I get in from my gig.

Bump charging kills the battery in long run.
If you have to do it to a brand new handset it can't be good news.

I'd suggest uninstalling battery monitor. I had installed it on my g2x and immediately saw my battery percentage drajning more quickly. Probably because its always running in the background.
The best tip I can give for better battery life is to minimize what you allow to run in the background. Get rid of any task killers, set Facebook/Twitter/Email/etc to sync less frequently, turn off wifi if you're not using it so its not scanning for networks, and so on.
Also install juice defender from the Market. Its free. It has greatly increased my battery life.

I installed the Plus version because it allows wifi control. I just use the default settings except I change so it doesn't disable wifi. I do that because I use wifi calling at home so I dont want Juice Defender turning off my wifi. I always turn it off manually when I leave the house anyway.

Yea Balanced Settings is good if you don't mind it managing your wifi too. In the Plus version I selected Customize instead of Balanced. The only thing I changed was the wifi setting. Not sure what I could have done but since yesterday my battery life has been nuts. I installed and am using a livewallpaper but that's it. Phone has been on for 5 days and it just got better yesterday. Is it even possible that lwp could help battery life?

It simply looks like you've been on wifi a lot. It's known that being on wifi puts A LOT LESS strain on your battery than does using the network.
Same here battery life is not as good as expected but I guess there's not much we can do, either buy a much bigger capacity battery or be contended with what the stock could offer.

From what I can tell, all the normal startup apps (mesages, facebook, widgets), are using full amount of CPU. All of them. The blue bars were full. That's for the few minutes after startup being 100% usage. Still investigating the random spikes that occurs while using my phone. I used Inspiration 1.0.1 for a log time and i had the best battery life on this rom. it works fine with lower CPU/GPU frequency. Vipers 5.0.0 also seems to have nice battery life (i'm on it now).

My battery life is 5 hours when I was using ViperS 3.1.2
Now I update it to ViperS 5.0, battery can use 6~7 hours, so cool !!
Etc. Where it's 5.0? This always happens to me with vipers Rom. I always find at that there is a new thread for a newer version from someone else

Did you ever try greenify? It is an awesome battery saver
Hey guys ,
As you can tell from the subject of the thread .. I'm problems with my battery .. I'm running stock Rom ! And the phone can only live for 7-8 hours at its best .. is this something normal ? Cause the battery status is good .. I don't understand what's wrong ... I rested the phone to factory settings .. and nothing its the same performance .. 7-8 hours .. with not that excessive use ... Anyone has an idea ? Would really appreciate some help .. cause this f***** up .. 7 hours ... Specially that I wake up at 7-8 am .. so by 3-4 pm the phone is dead .. HELP ME !

Try different charger eg connect micro usb on laptop and leave it charge. From time to time it's good you leave battery to "sinchronize" and leave it charging for 7-8 hours.
Maybe it's rom dependent to. Check which apps are running in background, close unneeded, disable wifi, BT and so on. Which ROM do you use?
If you have root access then try greenify. First see what exactly is consuming you battery unnecessarily and then greenify those apps.
You can also try one power guard. It actually saves battery in my opinion.

Then you can try snapdragon batteryguru. I used to use this app before I rooted my one s. I don't think it has much effect but no harm in trying. It basically reduces the app refresh time based on your usage so that much battery is saved. It will learn your usage habits for 2 days.
You may also consider rooting your device.

What do you think about this maximus hd rom ??
Sent from my HTC One S using xda app-developers app
I suggest switching to an AOSP ROM, preferably CyanogenMod 11 since it's pretty stable. I was extremely unimpressed with the battery life on the stock ROM and decided to try a custom ROM. I'd never go back now. The battery life alone has proved to me that AOSP is better than Sense. Sense is bloated.
If you didn't try yet then try to empty the battery 3 times fully and always full recharge (make sure that the phone dies by itself).
For it was happening that the the battery was emptying down to few percent very fast (e.g. normal use 16hours) but when it was at 1 percent I could watch YouTube for 20min before the phone died.

I haven't used it, so I can't comment on it. I'm not really a fan of Sense though and Maximus is a Sense-based ROM.

It lasts me through a day with about 30% remaining after 9 hours of moderate usage. Not terrible but not great either, but the battery life just isn't very good in general on this phone.
Standby battery life is excellent though.

My tip that you need are to buy a new battery. I had almost 2 years old battery and the phone died after just 8 hours with minimal usage! So I decided to change the battery, now i've a 2100 mah. The phone is alive after 1,5 day with minimal usage!

also you can try BetterBatteryStats and you can see which app is draining your battery.
Catch it before it runs away from home!!
Just a joke. On a serious note..consider replacing battery
install an app called Wakelock Detector.
it's possible that you have an app installed that keeps waking up the device when not in use.
Wakelock Detector will tell you what app is doing that.

I ordered it from eBay. Just search for Original Genuine HTC BM35100 2100 mAh Battery for HTC One X+ Pluse S728e X+ Ltd. There is a topic in accessories forum that concerns batteries.
