Can't get recovery to stick..every time I wanna go into recovery I gotta go into rom manager and flash it can someone help ...thx..

You need to rename a script in the /etc folder, i think it's called install-recovery.sh

Rename install-recovery.sh to something else. It's in /system/etc
Need a rooted phone for that and a read/write capable file explorer, eg SuperManager. After renaming flash the recovery one last time.

what is your problem? flashing clockwork or removing the install-recovery.sh?
im confused because the content of your thread and thread title are two different things.
Removing the install-recovery.sh. cause i cant find them. I use the root Explorer.

When you first load root explorer, the script is in the /etc folder. If its not in that folder then you're golden. If it is, then rename or delete.

[Q] Boot Animation in CyberGR-MOD|NS.NGN ICS v.8 HYBRID

Hi,
Can anyone help me changing the boot animation of subject ROM, I have already downloaded the zip file but unable to flash it by any mean
Regards,
Shoby
Try with a file manager with root permissions (such as root explorer) to move the bootanimation.zip file at /system/media and after that set permissions to rw-r--r--r
Reboot and the bootanimation should be the one you selected.

will astro file manager work?
I don't know but I can't make it with Astro. Try with the File expert. Firstly you have to enable root explorer from the settings menu.

..
One question. Which CyberGR bootanimation you are using?
Sent from my Nexus S using Tapatalk
the easiest way is to get the file from this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1159311
then flash directly with Rom manager( just select the check option: wipe dalvik cache) and you're donw - Nexus s sotck boot animation.
cheers
Hit Thankx button
just put in your bootanimation.zip in this zip file /system/media
and then flash it via recovery

[BOOT ANIM] New Boot Animation for hTC Explorer aka hTC Pico

Hi,
I am Proud to present a new boot animation Specially for HTC Explorer for both stock (rooted) as well as Custom Rom's
Many of us wonder how much time our phone takes to boot, right??
Don't Worry Now this boot animation of mine, will be able to provide you exact time your phone takes to boot.
You can Download the attached zip file and can push it to system/customize/resource Using adb or Root Explorer or similar.
To Push using adb connect your Phone with usb to your computer, then go to command prompt and navigate to android-sdk\platform-tools, then type this code
Code:
adb remount
adb push hTC_bootanimation.zip /system/customize/resource
Do remember to copy the hTC_bootanimation.zip file in platform-tools folder before using above code.
And to push it using Root explorer :
Copy the hTC_bootanimation.zip in your sd card then open root explorer go to sd card and then copy the same and then navigate to system/customize/resource. But before pasting the file press Mount R/W button on the top and then paste the file and you are done.
Note : Try this at your own risk i'll not be held responsible for any damage to your device, There wont be any damage though

Can i Install this zip from the recovery.
In my experience with my HTC explorer, I doubt the timer would get past about 5 seconds. Maybe after a battery removal, but other than that, the boot is ridiculously fast.
Trying to replace the existing bootanimation file but cant overwrite it nor delete it, has the same name. Doesnt even let me change its name. Doing something wrong i guess.

Ah, it'll only show after removing the battery, and not when the phone "fast boots"? I guess that makes more sense.

Fast boot is totally different thing, Phone skips the boot animation during fast boot..
But if you remove your battery or simply restarts your phone boot animation do show up

I use ES Explorer, it's free, and if you give it root access via settings, you can easily swap out any ssytem folder including the ones you're talking about, just back them up first
edit: to do that just give it root access, then R/W access, navigate to your /system folder, copy the ones you want to replace, paste them on your SD card, then replace them using the same method with the ones you have elsewhere, should work fine.
I use root explorer. have for awhile and normally dont have issues manually adding apks and suchbin system but on my note 10.1 i backed up system/app and system/framework and then copied over new folders and fixed permissions and rebooted and got stuck at samsung splash screen ?

Then one of your "new" files is bad, restore your old ones and try one folder at a time.

I didnt think system app or framework would effect boot?
Sent from my GT-N7000 using Tapatalk 2
Seems like maybe system app folder is causing it. I fixed permissions and cleared caches and still just splash? Cant see why an app would cause this. ..
Sent from my GT-N7000 using Tapatalk 2
i think stuck in logo / splash screen doesn't mean it stuck in boot or boot-loop.
it could be entered to the system but can't display the home screen. if only it can connect to adb and run adb logcat you will able to see whether the loop is after the sytem actually run or not.

build.prop

I have edited my build.prop with an app from the market (luckily I made a backup) but when I rebooted my phone wont boot up again..
Now I am in recovery and try to copy the backup to its place, but I dont know where the file is..
could someone point me the path of the build.prop file?
Sorry I know its a noob question..
Edit: its in the /System folder, but if I copy the backup still my phone wont boot..
Pick door 1,2 or 3
1. Reflash the ROM
2. Pull the build.prop from the nameofrom.zip, and replace existing
3. Make sure you delete the modified build.prop, when putting the backup file in /system, make sure you change name from build.prop.back to build.prop
