I had camera problems this week-end. I will try and take some later on with my Captivate. I'll do a fake "unboxing" set....

By the way, I have an iPad also. Compared to it, the Streak is a weird animal: too small to be a tablet, too big to be a phone (I mean it! It's huge!).
I guess it's a super portable tablet on which you can make and receive phone calls; Bluetooth earphone recommended if you don't want to look odd with a huge black shiny plastickey slab on your ear

To everyone who says the GPS sucks

It doesn't. My car was stolen last night out of a gas station while I ran in to get cigarettes. Long story short, my phone was also in the car and on. I pushed an app called Plan B by Lookout at jcase's recommendation. Lo and behold, 45 seconds later, I was emailed and EXACT location of the phone. I notified the officer I filed my report with that I have an address from my phone and within 3-4 hours of my car being stolen, it was found and towed and intact! The GPS was dead on. I think it's fair to say that the GPS doesn't get the credit it deserves on the Thunderbolt!

Great story. I think I'll be buying that application.

Glad you got your car back dude! I actually think gps on the tb is pretty good. I always get a lock outdoors and tracking is awesome. Better than the Inspire and Captivate before that.

I agree. Other than the issues that it had before the new radios, it is almost always spot on once it does get a good fix.

gps is fine for me too on my tbolt with mr2.5.

My gps would take 5+ mins to lock until i installed MR2, now its instantaneous!

My issues aren't with the gps after getting lock, it's the lenth of time it takes to get lock. Using GPS status it usually takes about 400+ seconds. 8 minutes when you are trying to find something is like an eternity. My d2 would lock in about 1 min or less.

Then you got other probs with one of the two ne radios it locks in seconds

Well, just got my car back. $2k in audio equipment is still intact. Only ended up with a broken driver side mirror. Can I get any more lucky?

You don't know how to use it.
That is 100% certain to be cell location services, not GPS. Very different things.
Try using the app 'GPS Status' outdoors.

That isn't saying much. My 94 yr old grandmother with dementia & cataracts has a better sense of direction than my old Captivate.

Glad for your car. My speedometer cable broke and I use and app on my TB as my speedometer, It works great.

Dropped phone in poop water now?

So the other day I was taking a massive **** (it was green and large), and at this time I was also playing with my phone because thats what I always do....you know what i mean but anyways back to the story...so i dropped it in there and was able to recover it without any damage but now it smells like ****. and not like ok **** smell, but like reeally stinky **** smell. Has anyone found a way to fix this issue??

Dude that stinks lol. If you can find it there is a machine called an ozone machine that will get the smell out of anything. I used to work for a company called servpro, im sure there is one close to you they are all over the place, ask them to ozone it for you

Remember when i dropped my Nokia 3310 in the toilet before the poo poo got the chance to land in the dark and scary sea. I picked it up, (amputated my hands), tried to dry the phone as much as i could, and i sent it back hoping i would get a new one. And i did.
The story ain't over yet. I managed to drop the new one in the toilet - again. This time i showed my longest finger to the mighty god, and surrendered. Karma is very real guys.

I smashed my ****ing phone because....

It kept re-****ing-setting and it was pissing me off!! I knew there was a reason I switched from CM7. Those random awesome resets. Its funny too cuz i was taking a dump when I smashed it on the floor. Hey I should have wiped my *** with the $130 I am going to be giving the insurance company instead of the toilet paper I used lol. So when my replacement comes in the mail, I will be using the stock rom!!
Im so angry I want to rip a baby in ****ing half!!

Why did you switch back to it then? Does it really cost that much with insurance? There's some shady looking repair shop in the mall I live near and the guy in there replaced my busted screen for $80

I switched back because miui was being a pain! And I guess I forgot CM7 randomly Reset. If I were to replace the digitizer I would order it from eBay for $40 and replace it myself. Its not just the digitizer though. It's also the LCD as well. So if I were to order and replace both the digi and LCD myself, it would come to around $100 smackeroos. Why not just pay the extra $30 and get a brand spanking new G2x? I've thrown it quite a few times.
Insurance is rediculous on this phone! $130 every time I replace it.

I could never throw anything that I spent $200 of my own hard earned money on. I treat this phone like aa newborn baby. There's a couple scuffs and a tiny scratch on the screen which was caused by me being stupid and taking my phone to the beach (yeah SAND was the only thing able to scratch the screen) and I feel terrible about those tiny things. I don't understand how you could just throw it. So baffling to me.

and ive been running the newest baseband and cm7 rc3 since it first dropped and ive yet to have a random restart... even if it did restart im pretty sure im not going to throw a 200 dollar object around until it broke and then spend another 100 or so to fix it and create a 300 dollar glorified stress ball for myself... have some self-control

Wow! Seeing that smashed g2x makes me cringe! So sad! Well for me I've tried a ton of roms. Hellfires ics and gb roms and eagles blood. I'm supprised people are using even cm7 rc3 extra when Bluetooth calling doesn't even work correctly and speakerphone volume is so quiet. All roms except the stock rom 2.3.4 are broken since the March 2012 bb update. Kinda upset that no one has been able to fix this critical dealbreaker problem.

I has the old BB. Hopefully the new phone doesn't have the new BB!

You are lucky my friend. I wish I could find a way to revert to the old BB. It's keeping me from enjoying/wanting to install these awesome roms.

I bought it when it first came out that's probably why. When I ordered the replacement, it came with the old BB. You could call that luck!
Hopefully the new phone comes with the old BB. Now that would be what I would call lucky!

If you look in owains rom thread there is now a fix in the op so you can use the old rom's with the new bb all in one simple flashable fix

skyrocket no more =(

I just totaled my car about an hour ago and my skyrocket took off like a rocket into a creek so it is no more.....not sure if I'd get another one now im thinking note or wait for S3 thoughts ?

Get your car fixed first!
I'd stick with SR, note and S3 are too big for my liking.

S3 isnt really bigger, just longer and a little thinner but hey its a "new" phone and the community is huge on the other side as well so either one is good. Of course the S3 is newer and will have more features so with that aside its all about preference from that point as both phones are good.

First, go to a doctor if there is any nagging pain/issues after the accident
I'm assuming you are ok since you are posting on XDA but better to be on the safe side.
Second if the accident is not your fault (Or if you have comprehensive insurance) put pressure on the insurance company for the value of you car AND it's belongings including your $600+ phone
If the accident is your fault, or your insurance is minimum coverage, check kijiji or craigslist for a used one at a good price. There is always a (wannabe) isheep who cant handle the power of a droid.

thanks guys for all the kind words I'm fine just split my shin open on the steering wheel but I've had way worst injuries than that....my brother has never been in a car crash and the air bag did a number on his hand but we are both fine......but my baby there is no fixing her she is done! I feel so ''out of reach'' without my phone and it hasnt even been 2 hours.

As far as phones go, the note is borderline garbage. Had one and it was just a bigger slower SR that came with a pen. S3 is you need the latest release, but honestly I'm going with a Google phone next time. AOSP and timely updates are more important than new add on software to me. I always end up flashing AOSP anyway so why not just go straight there.
Just my couple of pennies worth.

Thought it was general. derp. Glad you're okay though. Oh and get a S3.

Im glad your ok. I had the note, I liked the pen part of it, but it is just ridiculously big. It hurt my hands after a while of holding it, it just looks silly when your talking on it, and it just felt awkward in my pocket. I exchanged it for the skyrocket and couldn't be happier.

Glad to hear you are alright man. I've had my fair share of crashes...mostly racing in the wrong place.
Get the sgs3 since the skyrocket was a loss. It's the logical decision at this point. It will be a nice little upgrade from the skyrocket but will still be familiar territory for you. Best of luck.

Agreed; if I were in your shoes I'd get the insurance replacement for $100 (or whatever it is now) and continue to wait for the next Nexus phone. That's what I've been planning to do anyway; no more phones on contract for me.
Seriously bro, the good news here is that you and your brother are largely unscathed. Car accidents can be pretty serious; I remember when I got rear-ended in my Dakota and the entire bed had to be replaced. The cab was largely okay, but I hurt for a day or two afterward. Can't imagine being in a wreck like yours.
