i think i flashed from mr1 to mr2 to mr2.5 too much times is there way to reset having network connectivity issues.
There's no such thing as "flashing too many times." Network connectivity issues can lie within different factors such as distance from cell towers down to network maintanence and the software in between. If you feel that you are having network connectivity issues due to software, like the radio or ROM, then I suggest flashing the stock radio back and trying a known good ROM. Other than that, not much you can do besides calling Verizon and asking if there are any known network issues in your area.
Also, as always, backup before flashing!

Hi all,
First time poster, long time lurker I'd just like to say thanks to everyone in the community. You guys rock.
That said, I am having a minor issue with my G1. I have T-Mobile & my phone is SIM unlocked (I don't know if that would make a difference) and currently running JFv1.5 with the latest radio (2.22.19.26I). The problem is that when I disconnect from a wireless network, my data connection to T-Mobile doesn't pick back up. When I go into Call Settings / Network Operators I let it search for networks and sometimes my phone will have to Re-Register on T-Mobile and other times it will say that its already registered to T-Mobile but the data connection still won't work. The only thing I've found to solve that is a reboot of the phone.
This has happened a few random times when I was on RC33 and one of the Haykuro builds but it has become more frequent since I've updated to JFv1.5. Also, I dunno if it helps to mention but I went to a T-Mobile store earlier this week & swapped out the SIM card with a new one and have gotten the same results.
Is anyone else having this problem? I've searched to no avail and was curious. Thanks.
dissconnect
That's just typical crappy T Mobile service have the same prob here since I'm not close to a T Mobile tower when it loses web access it dumps the connection to reconnect
So that's it? I should chock this up to my carrier's signal being ****ty in random places? No one else has had this issue at all?

I am having this issue. Never had a problem until I updated the radio to the latest version
I have had the new radio since the JF build with cupcake. My signal was great until yesterday. It will go from the lowest to highest in the case of the bar. When I reboot my phone it takes much longer to connect to the network. BUT I think my issue is with the fact my market (Columbus, Ohio) was rumored to get 3G by this june. So I am guessing its just TMobile doing the upgrades and whatever they need to do to impliment the 3G rollout.
lately ive been having horrible service. dont know if it has to do with the new LX being released.
Hi,
I am on 5.02h and was having random disconnects on .26 radio.
I went back to .22 saffaire radio and my connection is more stable now.
I am not sure if others have experienced this as well.
I have flashed my phone yesterday with latest from Haykuro with CUPCAKE. (NO SD APPS)
Phone is running a little slower and I started having the issues with the DATA connection.
In the middle of the Web page loading, the phone looses data connection and I am only left with ability to use voice. The data connection comes back in a few minutes and same thing happens as soon as start using the data connection again.
I do not know if previously stable connection at my location all of a sudden became bad or the new build is causing this.......
just to add
Not to dissenlighten people here but t mob has crappy serivce to rural areas. I myself live in brunswick md usa. I have had. 2 bars since I first got this phone with rc30 with constant dumps to no signal all the time when it upgraded to rc33 still the same thing. Then I rooted my to jf rc33 still the same thing. After that I used jf 1.5 and it still craps out. When I go 20 mins to the north to frederick,md I get full bars and no dissconnects so if it where a radio issue there would have been some kinda difference between radio updates. I myself am a ham operator so I should know how radio signal works so when I chock it up to t mobs crappy service I do not do this lightly since the nearest tower is 20 mins either way from me. People need to stop blaming other peoples builds for this issue since the radio update is from google. If I pop a att sim I get full bar and no dissconnects cause the tower they use is closer that's how I know it's a t mob problem not an issue with the radio. Remember troubleshooting is the best way to see where the problem is. Till t mob puts up more towers and fixxes the packet loss to the phone to remedey this then we will all have crappy service which does not seem to be in the near future for anyone.
I had a similar problem when I was on stock RC30. I called in to tech support and they set up a new APN on the phone so it would switch back to EDGE faster if I lose the wifi connection. I would suggest if you're not around stable wifi, just turn it off.
Anyone having issues with network auto roaming switching on WM 6.5. I have recently installed one of the Kaiser Roms v21232.5.0.1 by "Chinhe"; Everything works great except the auto roaming feature. By that I mean that usually in areas where T-mobile (USA) don't have coverage my phone used to switch to ATT, but not any more. I have all the network settings to Automatic. Personally in my case I have to manually go to phone settings and switch to ATT as a roaming provider. Is there something you guys can suggest I should do.
Anyone else having same problems?
Appreciate your time. Thank you
Try another radio. Maybe that helps. Please check the ultimate radio thread for more info.
Cheers
Hmmm did your network change anything? I know I had chinhe before, and the place where i work there is not signals in buildings, and it was roaming! But i downloaded data and stuff even with that ROM!
My Radio Rom was at 1.71 by Emo and may be that was causing the problem. Chinhe recommends version 1.70.19.09. I have recently updated my phone but I have not got a chance to fully test it.
I will post some additional comments later on. Thanks for your prompt replies.
Radio
I had almost the reverse issue on a WM6.5 ROM. My provider is T-mobile USA and it would rollover to AT&T too often. Then would have trouble "rolling" back to the T-mobile network. (leaving me unable to make or take calls for 5 minutes or so as it connected and disconnected) It was so bothersome that I switched it to manual network connectivity. While the problem was limited to when coverage was weak(one or two bars) it had never happened on previous ROMs. I've been using the EmO 1.71.09.01 for probably a year now on various ROMs and this was the first time I had experience Radio issues. Long story short, I switched to another WM6.5 cooked ROM and the problem was resolved.
I live in the US west coast. What radio would you guys recommend for this area?
Flashing a radio does not wipe your data, and is fairly safe if done correctly.
As to finding out the best radio, it depends on your carrier as well as location.
Since it takes under 5 min to flash a radio, why dont you just flash a radio, test drive it for a couple days then try another one. Thats the only way your gonna find the right radio.
Or just when reading through threads and take a look at user's signatures and you will recognize popular radios (and roms).
I'm on the latest at&t radio in central texas on At&t network and it works a treat for me.
Long story short, I think most people are debating between the .19 and the .35 radio. I'm in So Cal and go up to Sacramento/Bay area, Portland, and Seattle fairly often and the .19 radio seems to be the best thus far. Granted I haven't tried the .35 but there have been many posts about battery drain with the .35.
In sum, I love the .19 and it seems to be one of the most, if not the, most popular radio for West Coast ATT'ers...
And as fone_fanataic mentioned, you can flash many radios because you don't HAVE to hard reset but the general rumor is hard resetting may benefit and I generally hard reset after flashing a radio as well as ROM's but I can't say that it actually matters.
My stock radio was 1.02.25.32 GPS was slow, I had bars but my reception wasn't the greatest.
I flashed to 1.12.25.19 GPS was way quicker in my house, I show less bars but the reception seems clearer. BTW I needed to hard reset after flashing this radio because I wasn't getting any cell service for some reason. I did change the dll file.
I am going try this out for awhile then switch to the new radio 1.14.25.35
I flashed 1.14.25.35, now i don't drop calls in the elevator at work. But the gps seems slower.
i was wondering if anyone knows whats a good radio and/or ril combination to optimize my reception here in the philippines. just moved out here to finish my education since california is getting pretty damn expensive. i'm using the current recommended radio for the rom i'm using but reception for wifi and 3g are all over the place. sometimes 3 bars on network but 1 bar on wifi and vice versa. i cant keep a constant network connection and my wifi signal is really weak regardless of how close i am to the router. i considered flashing all the radios to find out but i dont want to continually risk bricking my phone but if i have no other option, i'll have to do just that. any suggestions/tips? thanks guys.
This started on the eternity rom, then I switched back to CM7 by thundershed 1.4, then 1.5 and tried various radios on all roms. 4G signal will not stay and once it is lost it will not come back even after switching radios. I have checked the network mode settings. I am leaning toward believing this is hardware related or network related as those are thoe only variables I cannot experiment with. This is happening in Utah.
EDIT: installed stock .9 rom and still no 4G.
having the same issue except it happens in 2g/3g also...
Anyone have any idea cause this is annoying... rebooting the phone temporarily fixes it for me.
