Case-Mate Tough Case Best Out There! Read my review!

I will start this review by saying that I have owned a variety of different phones ( i get a new phone every 5-6 months) and with each of these phones i buy an expensive case (roughly 20-30 dollars)
The Case-Mate Tough Case beats them all.
I read every review on this board and decided to go with the Blue and Black Case-Mate Tough Case and it has been great.
The included screen protector is a great touch and the hard plastic and soft silicon allows for a great feel and great protection.
The case is easy to take off and looks great (the colors really make the phone unique because you do not see a high quality case that comes in different colors for any phone, many people were impressed when i pulled out my phone asking to feel it and hold it)
Three of my buddies all have Nexus Ones and they all ordered the Tough Case in different colors, two of my buddies were using Otterbox and they both agreed that the Case-Mate was not only more ergonomic it just looked and felt better and did not add the extra bulk the Otter did. Even tho I have never used an Otter extensively I do agree with their impressions just from holding their phones and holding mine and comparing them.

I'm going to agree that it is an awesome case and I'm glad I decided to purchase it, especially over the otter box. I am going to disagree with the supplied screen protector. It was crap. I love the clarivue ultra clear protector, Its reusable, washable, no adhesive (static based) and You can't even tell I have it on. Ultra smooth, ultra clear, no glue.... awesome.

I have one ordered and it should be here next week. I need a holster for mine. Do you all know of one that will fit this case? Will the Seidio holster work for it? Thanks.

I have the black/black case mate tough case. The only and i mean only problem i sometimes have is that when I put the phone back into the hard shell, sometimes its hard to get the volume down button to work. That can be fixed by doing a little adjusting. I love this case and I wouldn't own anything else...

you guys got me interested in this case. how bulky does it make the nexus looks? the black/red looks pretty hot.....

I want it, but its cheap shipping option says it will take 3-4 weeks to Canada
even the $20 shipping says 8-14 days and with fedex... I pay brokerage..... why can't they do usps expedited?

It does add a little bulk, i'm not going to lie to you. However, in return your getting a sexy case plus a ****load of protection. You just simply can't go wrong with buying one of these cases. You definitely get what you pay for.

In the UK, prices were best from eBay/Amazon market place... I paid £16.90 shipped for mine.

I bought black/blue on Friday. Tracking says it will be here today. I was going to write a review, but you beat me to it!
I report back to say if I like it or not.

To those who ask about bulk. Its adds a little bulk, but not as much as the otter box. Not even close if you ask me. And personally I feel the phone fits better in my hand with the case on. It doesn't feel like it will slip out.
Oh and the tough case gets double props for being able to buy the colored rubber inner sleeves separately without buying a whole new outer hard case with it.

i honestly like the otterbox a lot better. its probably type of protection but i like that the ports are covered. u never know when something might get in there

My only gripe with the Case-Mate tough case and this is extremely minor is that because the hard case does not entirely cover the soft case, any lint that you might have in your pocket is attracted to the soft case.
Whenever I put my case in my pocket, it always attracts a little dust. Not enough to warrant getting a new case, but something that you should be aware of.
I used to use the Seidio Innocase II Surface, but it would keep cutting into my invisibleshield which ended up getting scratched off on the sides.
I definitely do love the case-mate though.

I took a look at the cases after your linked that and im very impressed!
being an elevator mechanic i snag my phone case on just about everything and have spent far too much money on holster. Does the medium size work well for you? i find that since the nexus one is a little longer then most bbs some cases the flap will not fold over at the top.

That case would suck for a nexus

you guys got me sold on this case. jus ordered it on friday. i'm currently using the seidio innocase 2 w/ holster. i like the fit of it, but it really is tight on there. i literally have to use a knife to split it from the back just to take it off...

These remain out of stock. Some of the skins can be bought separately, but the shells aren't back yet.

I was considering giving it a try.

Just spoke with a Case-Mate representative over the phone and was told that the Nexus One Tough Case is now discontinued and they do not have any more in stock. All they have left are the soft silicone inner skins that pair with the outer shell.
Kind of sad that a great phone that really isn't that old at all is already pretty tough to find good accessories for.

I think about using a case like that for my N1. at the moment i am using the original nexus one case. but of course, it is not very safe compared to this case.

I broke down and bought one of these cases on Amazon because I was unable to find one elsewhere. No one carries them and as my last post stated, they're discontinued by the manufacturer. Received the case yesterday and all I can say is that if you're on the fence about getting one, DO IT. The case fits PERFECTLY and feels very high quality. It doesn't gather an excessive amount of lint, and even comes with a nice microfiber cloth and clear screen protector. I already dropped the phone once today and the case did an absolutely beautiful job protecting the phone. Really too bad these aren't being made anymore.

My only complaint about this case is the soft silicon skin under the trackball gets loose quickly. It still stays on, but doesn't look or feel as good.

Well just placed my order with amazon, problem is they wont ship to NZ so have a mate over in the US that comes back in a week or so, getting it sent to him and then he will bring it back

Well damn, looks like I got one just in time at the beginning of January! And it's a really great case. I sure feel like my Nexus One is safe in there.

It also comes with 1 screen protector but I have never been impressed with the one's Otterbox supplies. I didn't apply it anyway because the screen on this phone can take a pretty good beating. Enjoy the case! I know I am!

Good to know it fits. I think I might upgrade to the 4G this week.

I'm glad I stumbled on this thread. I just ordered mine today, should be coming in tomorrow afternoon, perfect since I'll be heading into PAX east, and this baby was paid full price x.x; shouldn't ever go to a convention without a case..

it's a good case. the rubber has a tendency to be a lint magnet. but it will def protect your phone.

Got mine from TheCellGuru.com for 23.39 with shipping. I got the otterbox commuter for the 'Vibrant' though. Should be essentially the same since the only differences physically is the forward facing camera.
Not a bad pick up for a solid case to protect; as I am one clumsy SOB!

Order the i9000 version. Thats the one I got.

I saw a friend with an Otterbox and liked the grip, so I grabbed one.
I was disappointed to find out they dont make a "Defender" version for the Vibrant/S4G. That was the version my friend had on his Captivate which I liked more then the "Commuter". But the Commuter will suffice for now. Hopefully they release a defender series for ours.
I also didn't care for the screen protector that came with the Otterbox, so I didn't use it and just used the second realook protector I had from my Vibrant which works great.

My best friend ended up with the otter box, I ended up with the case mate touch case. He likes his more, I like mine more. So I think it's opinion also, but they are both good options.

Comparing the two, which one tends to attract dust more? (refering to the soft silicone part).

Case mate only does on the silicone part, which isnt really much once the "hard" part covers the back.. mainly on on the top part where the headphone jack is, a quick milisecond wipe when it comes out of my pocket and no dust on the entire phone. Hopefully that description helps.
Otherwise none at all. Refering to the case mate of course.

Yeah, I looked everywhere for the Defender version but settled for the Commuter.
I haven't had many problems with dust on my Otterbox but for those that are, Just wipe it with any microfiber cloth (even old jogging pants refashioned as a dust rag works) and it wipes it clean in seconds.

The only thing is the dust/lint gets in the cut outs for the ffc and ear piece. If your going to use the ffc, which isn't that often, you have to clean that out.
Is anyone else noticing that it seems like the soft part is getting a little loose after awhile? I've had this one since they first released them for the vibrant. It seems like, especially at the top, you can squeeze the edge's in and it buckles up.
That being said, this is the best case I've ever owned. I like how it has the soft rubber touching the phone so you don't get any wear spots on it. Then the hard plastic protects and keeps it from getting stuck in your pocket.

Whats up world of XDA, I need your help choosing between these four cases. I usually buy them cheapy ones but this time I decided to buy a good one. I'm not sure whether to go with the Seidio Active, the Trident Aegis, the Case-Mate Tough Case, or the Case-Mate Pop! Case. Hmmm.... Based on the examples you listed, it seems like you're looking for a tank-like case. Considering how 'new' the Sensation is, you could always wait for more tanky cases to come out. If you don't mind getting something a little less tank-like, take a look at Incipio NGP case. I bought mine for 19.99 with free shipping from the official Incipio site. Also, you might want to look at the NGP incipio case thread under Sensation Accessories. Good luck finding the perfect case.

Yeah, I saw the NGP Incipio case. It looks durable but I need something more as you said "tank like". I got it a month ago and its in perfect condition however I tend to drop my phone a lot. I used to have the Samsung Vibrant and I literally destroyed the chrome sides. I'd rather buy the case than buying a OEM battery cover. So you think I should wait for better ones?

Unless you're willing to wait for other xda peeps to post up their experience with any of the cases you listed, you might be better off ordering all of them & personally test each one until you find one that suits 'your needs'. I dunno if you'd be up for such a hassle. Besides, what would you define as "better" in comparison to you're current list?

The Body Glove case with optional kickstand got bad reviews in the beginning because it was the wrong fit(left marks on phone). They've restocked now and it fits much better(they sent me a replacement). Its not too big of a case and not too small. Has good grip.

+1 the new BG case is also working out well for me.

Galaxy Tab 8.9 Trident Case

For those that like the protection of something like an otterbox or seidio. I highly recommend this case as I had one on my Nook Color and it took a beating like a champ. I'm likely picking up a used 8.9 LTE shortly and this will be the first thing I add to it.

Dude, I'm all about getting thing without spending a lot of money if I can. Found the trident I posted for $33 at mobile-stop so not as much as above. For my piece of mind I just have to have a case that can be dropped without worry. I have a tpu on my galaxy tab 2 7.0 right now cause that's just the best I could find. It was awesome that it was only a couple bucks but I don't feel like it's gonna protect it *when* an accident happens (cause they always do).

Yeah, the one I got has next to no shcok rating, I really got it to keep it from getting all scratched up and stuff. The Trident one looks alot more hardcore form a protection standpoint

Can anyone confirm that the trident case can also be used as a stand..... It seems like that is all the trident case is missing.

Nope, no stand. Just received my case today and really like it. The initial install is frustrating, aligning the ports and all, but overall feels really good in the hands. Don't bother with the included screen protector, to the touch, smooth. If you use a stylus, it grabs.
