I've searched high and low and haven't found this question worded this way. I can't post to the development, so I am asking that someone in here helps me.
If I were to search through the coding and find where the phone directs its display to the screen, then find in the code where gingerbread sends the music to the A/V cable (3.5mm), use the two to write a code to send the display to the same location, and then add a setting to turn it on and off, what would happen?
I need time to go through some tutorials and figure out how exactly to start coding with android. I only have experience in C++, Visual Basic, and HTML. I was just wondering if this was one thing that has been attempted to get TV Out to work. I work around 80 hours a week so it would be very helpful to get input and save me the tutorial time.
ps. First post here ever, and I know I'm not even on a beginner level when it comes to programming android. So only productive responses please.
First post FAIL. There are ROM-specific stickies in the Q&A subforum and this should have gone in the CM7 one. Please do a search before starting a new thread and it is better to post to an existing thread rather than start a new one. Had you searched you would have discovered that TV Out works with Gingerbread.

Right off the bat, let me apologize for being such a noob. But for the life of me, I cant seem to find out how to actually dual boot WinMo and Android on my TMOUS htc hd2. I have searched using every term and phrase i can think of and nothing. Please keep in mind that I am not only new to this type of stuff, but to forums as well. So then I tried to find out how to flash a rom and radio, and come up empty there too. I couldn't even find if thats all the steps to change a phone. I am willing to learn, WANT to learn, but need a little boost to get started. I am supremely interested in figuring out how to use Ubuntu on my hd2 (thats what my main computer is), but i figure thats probably harder than the rest so i didn't even search it. Please no comments on how noobish I am please. I am already aware of this fact. And if i posted this in the wrong place, or this kind of question is not allowed, moderators feel free to delete or move it (not that you need MY permission). Thanks in advance for any help on this matter, and as I said at the beginning, please forgive my noobishness.
Another Question.....
Another question I wanted to ask that I haven't yet found an answer to was whether or not a computer has to be used for anything other than loading files onto the SD card, and if so, are the programs running on the computer compatible with linux? If not, are they able to run on wine? Again any help is greatly appreciated.
Used to be new too

Check out the stickies
Don't lurk on that phone so don't know if they have a wiki setup. Most likely do. Most phone's have wiki sections that if you read em will all the info you need. You said you're open and want to learn, keep that up.
For reference on searching, the search system is setup like a/the forum sub section, kinda like a file system.

Use the "search this forum" button here on this page to do a search on just that phone's forum. If you use the same button on the accessories main page, it will just search that phone's acc forum. Same goes if you search the xda main forum page, you'll be searching everything.
I did notice yesterday and today the search was acting up, giving me 0 results for topics I know are here, then just searched for general things like case and unlock, still nothing. That may have been the problem you were having, too.
Good Luck
Thank You
That was the problem I was having. I would search, but come up with no or very few results. Thank you for your help. I didn't read all the stickies or even check the wiki, like i said, I'm a noob. Well, far as I am concerned this thread can be closed.
Hey, I've been "googling" for a couple days now trying to find how to do this and even searching the forum but any posts I find say download this and flash. However, I'm developing for the LG Ally, so I know for a fact without even trying those services.jar files listed on those "how-to" threads will not work. I understand some of you dont like to help others when they have really low post counts, but I don't come here often because of there being no support for the LG Ally. All I am looking for is what files to modify and what modifications to make on how to do this. Please, just point me in the right direction if you can help, and don't say "use the search function". As I said, I have already used the aforementioned search function to no avail. If I missed something when i was searching, which is possible as I am only human, please point me to it.
Thanks.
And in case you were curious about my post history and all that, i usually post over at androidforums.com just search the user database for this username and you will find me.
Thanks again in advance.
If this is vague i apologize and will help clear it up if need be.
I am here and I was wondering where I was suppose to post tutorials in the Xoom Section. I was thinking about making some New Xoom User tutorials with screenshots, and if I am to find a good screen recorder app too, some videos, of basic questions as well as operation of the tablet. I would like to make sure I post it in the correct forum before I continue on with it as well as make sure someone has not already done an extensive overview of the actual operations like I am wanting to start here. I hope that I can start this up soon (well I am working on the posts now in word doc, but I am meaning by posting it up...)
Thank you for your time and thank you in advance for the help with this idea

Just a thought...you could post in general...if related to rooting it could be added to diablo2224's. Rooting thread, otherwise create your own. I hope you do some tutorials...do you know what you'd like to cover?
I was thinking about the little small things like "how to get to settings" and "explaining your questions for help" and so on. and then when i get a feel for how people react to them, maybe deeper into programming, rooting troubleshooting, and other stuff
Thanks for the encouragement okantomi! I will keep things updated on my sig and profile page!!

I think that "how to get to settings" is a little basic, but I definitely think we need more tutorials on how to make the most of the Xoom (and Honeycomb in general) so have at it.
If you make videos "how to"s, I would create a single post in General and post links to all of them there. If they are just written guides, I would make a new post in General for each one.

I was thinking about making on big tutorial in on general location for all the links, kind of like the index of a book, and then you click the link and it goes to the forum post about that said link. I might have to do this on another page like a personal website but i really do not want to do that so i am looking into alternative ways. I was thinking too about making the videos a playlist and use youtube and maybe add a few Here's why and commentaries to the list. I have a whole list of ideas and I am hoping to get started (as in posting it up) soon! cause i use google docs, I can write on my phone when away and have an idea... so this should be interesting Also looking into screen recording material for ON the Xoom cause i do not want to be doing DDMS all the time for ever single frame that i need... if i had a video recorder it would be nicer ... but i will get to that when i cross that bridge! I will keep everyone updated on the tutorials when they get posted... I will if it suits people, us this as a "to go" point and just change the title, or make a new thread for the index.... Here we GO!
also! thank you for the words of encouragement and advice rschenck!

If you wish to see an example of one approach to this sort of idea, we have been building a community wiki for CyanogenMod 7 on the SGS and created a How To section. Of course this is a group effort as opposed to a single member, but the idea is much the same.
http://sgscm7nightlies.pbworks.com/w/page/41716809/i9000 How-To´s
awesome to hear onn the cyanogen mod but I want to keep it as close to stock as possible... like right now I have super user but I have not changed the rom at all I'll look at the how to that you linked me to and I will study it and see what advice to writing a tutorial it will give me :-D
Keep you updated and thanks again!
I've been waiting for an idea and I think I finally have one. I am going to attempt to make a Android App using Web Scraping that will allow me to navigate and use the forums on Roblox (.com if you really want to look it up) better than I can now. Not only are the forums pretty bad in general but they are even worse on my Android Device (Samsung Galaxy Player). Can anyone give me an pointers or advice? I'm not sure what libraries I should use... This is my first big attempt at coding
Oh, Obviously I would want to give it a feature to reply to posts but I'm not sure how login for that type of thing would work...
Hello Nick64. If I were you, I will focus on builidng an app for getting the Roblox Hair Codes and Roblox Outfits IDs automatically. I think that this can be easily done using some program languages. I am saying this since most of the Roblox forums are not working anymore while on the other side, the players are still searching for these kind of codes. Just saying.
Edit: I just saw that you have posted this a long time ago. Anyway, someone might get an idea from my reply.
Hi guys!
I found a pretty decent midi controller app here:
thesundancekid.net/blog/fingerplay-midi/
It sends Midisignals thru wifi to your Daw/Instument.
Ive already made my own layout.xml but couldnt find a switch to change to color of the pads. I know nothing about java or programming, is it a lot of work to or just a little tiny piece of code?
It would be very nice if someone take a look at this.
Kind regards
gdm41
p.s.
i have less than 10 posts, thats why i post my coding request here.
