[Q] How to add SetCPU support to custom kernel? - Android Software/Hacking General [Developers Only]

Hi guys, first of all, I hope this is the right place to ask, if not then please move this thread
I want to compile a custom kernel for my device Spice Mi310. I want to know how I can add SetCPU support to my kernel (2.6.32.9)? I've seen many people here on xda enabling SetCPU support for their kernels, unfortunately my device isn't that popular so no one has an OC kernel for this device. I've compiled dozens of kernels for Linux PC's but I'm new to android kernel compiling
If any of the kernel hackers here on xda can help, it would be much appreciated

bump....no one?

Looking for cutoms kernel{help!!}

hey guys am new here and i just wanted to know is there a smartassv2 custom kernel for my lg gt540 cause my current kernel is a battery killer only has ondemand, powersave ande perfomance,so if u guys can guide me to where i could find this smartassv2 kernel which is compatable with my phone, thanks in advance.
Depends on your phone. Look for your model in this forum. If exists a flashable version you can easily apply it.

Kernel questions

Hello everybody,
I'm looking for a good kernel for an ICS rom (I'm still on stock 4.0.4).
I have been looking at [Kernel][S4 ICS][10 DEC][SENSE] Beastmode BRICKED Ville [Linaro -O3][3.0.56].
I have a few questions about that kernel:
1) does it support init.d scripts?
2) does it improve multitasking in any way? Other kernels use zRam for this purpose, but I don't understand if this kernel does that too. Has "Google Snappy Compression" (mentioned in the features) something to do with this?
3) will I need to use a 3rd party app (like kerneltuner) in order to undervolt? And will the undervolt stick when shutting down the phone?
4) will I be able to go back to the stock kernel by restoring a backup with TWRP?
Those features are implemented in Fusion kernel, although it's no longer mantained...
Thank you in advance, it's my first time studying the kernel subject, sorry for bothering.

[Q] Stock Kernel - Add frequencies and/or governors

Hi community:
I wanted to know if there's some way to edit frequency values on the stock kernel and hopefully to add new governors. I tried some custom kernels but right now I want to stick to the stock kernel because I read that it has a proprietary driver that manages CPU (MPdecision I think it is).
I would be willing to compile, test and stuff on my device but if someone knows an easier trick (build prop or stuff) I'll gladly appreciate it.
Also if there's a stock-based customized kernel out there with such capabilities (I searched but all are AOSP based) I would try it.

Click to collapse
i don't know if it works but try using engineering mode..
This app was mentioned on XDA news today - claims to let you tweak CPU: (no mention of it requiring a custom kernel)

[Completed] Modifying stock kernel

Good afternoon. I appoligise for the noob question but is there a way I can edit (I want to add overclock to a kernel) an already made (compiled?) kernel instead of having to completly build the kernel from source? For example, is there a way I can unpack a boot.img and modify the kernel, repack the boot image, and flash it instead of (in my case) going to Sony Developer World and compiling an AOSP kernel from source, I can just modify the frequencies of the CPU in the kernel the phone is currently running and reflash it? Sorry for the complicated and stupid question, i'm very new to kernel modifying... Thanks for any responses and/or help. ^^
Hi
Thank you for using XDA Assist.
There's an explanation in XDA University to have a few features like OC: http://xda-university.com/as-a-developer/adding-features-to-your-kernel
Good luck.

[REQ] Faux Sound supported kernel

I'm asking the godlike devs of this forum if they could find time to add FauxSound to an existing kernel or a new kernel , Preferably one compatible with CM 12.:cyclops: THANKS to the devs for all the hard work
