htc sense mms

I've been using aosp mms for the last couple of days and I mostly like it but it doesn't read my contact in the conversation thread and it doesn't seem to size right inside the messaging thread. So I'm hoping someone has a flashable zip of the original HTC sense mms apk ? I'm running freshes latest Rom if that matters .

just adb push the Mms.apk to system/app

I'm not sure if that'll work since it's tied to Rosie. However, I do recommend Handcent SMS. It has iPhone-style bubbles and other themes and has a quick reply popup that will come up in any app you're in. I too found the stock Messaging app lacking but this made it much better.
If you do decide to use this app, be sure to turn off notifications in the stock app or you'll get two notifications for each message you get.

Thanks for the advice. I used handcent for a long time on my g1 and it was alright except for a few bugs . I may consider it in the end

[REQUEST]A themed stock messaging app?

There are plenty of themes for the messaging widget, making it more transparent or changing the colors of the buttons to access it, but the inside of the app itself is still white and uninteresting.
So, can someone please theme one? Or, if it's been done, send me to where I can find a themed stock messaging app? Maybe a black background and green text? or hell a black background and many options as to the color of the text. Just something that isn't that drab white. It doesn't go with any rom I've flashed.
If anyone can do it, thank you!!!

I think this is why people use the alternative messaging apps. Theming in handcent and Chomp SMS is built in.

1. The widget is full screen, transparent and simple. Hancent you consistently have to click on the little picture, then menu, then "all threads"...it's annoying. Also, in most themed sense roms, the widget is themed but not the app itself. So in myn's rom, everything is dark and transparent...but when you open the app, it's boring and white. It's like you're only trying to make the home screens look better and nothing else. Also, you can't theme the widgets from chomp or handcent, so unless your theme happens to look like their widgets, it looks out of place and you're boned anyway.
2. Handcent and Chomp have ads. Ads are annoying and make the product look cheap. I even paid for chompsms ads to go away and they came back. I left a strongly worded e-mail...and review...and i tell people not to get it.
3. the stock app is faster and takes up less space than the 3rd party ones and can't be uninstalled. You HAVE to have it, so why can't someone spend some time and make an app you HAVE to have look a little better?
4. Gmail, menus, the drawer launcher, the drawer itself and various other stock programs are themed all the way through, why not the messaging app too?
I would ask for the stock sense mail app too but I don't use it enough to really care. The messaging app I use 200 times a day minimum.

also i just like stock wjhich is why i went to AOSP in the first place!!! I just wish the stock messaging icon displayed number of text and stuff like that... i miss that from sense... can enyone add that!

I love the look of the stock messaaging app in CM6 and would like to have the same thing on a sense rom. Im sure its possible some how.

devs, there's a call for a modded messaging app (not just the widget!).
Who is brave enough to heed the call? CM already has one but it's aosp, we need a sense one.

I've always wanted this also. I didn't think it was possible since no one has a themed mms.apk in their rom, so I never posted about it. I did use the cm6 version of AOSP but for some reason mms never worked. Hopefully some of the great developers on xda can get this done for us.

1) With LauncherPro plus you can have a messaging widget that displays messages from what ever messaging program you use. Its great, I love it!
2) I've never tried ChompSMS because I love Handcent and I've never once seen an advertisement except for an ad for one of their own services within the settings menu. Such a tiny infraction is something I cannot fault them for given how long I've been using their otherwise ad free app.
3) You're right on this one but its really not a concern. On my old MyTouch 3G, I worried about it, absolutely. However, given that Froyo offers the ability to install apps to the SDcard there is absolutely no reason to worry about space. Its just silly. Its akin to being worried about fitting a six pack of beer in a Suburban.
4) No clue, so I'm not going to address it.

SMS preference

I don't see too many poll threads on which sms client you use... I would love if you left a reason you chose the one you do.
I use GO SMS pro because of the simplicity of it and the way the pop up looks. I actually prefer CHOMP sms pop up UI, but it lags and just isn't close to running as smoothly as GO sms Pro.
Also, if you want to post a screen shot of the theme you're using if you're happy with your theme!

Handcent > Go sms. You can text without unlocking screen with handcent. You have to unlock the screen for go sms.

Idk how much I would use that, but I am interested in that. What theme do you use?

Handcent because of being able to reply from the lockscreen without unlocking the phone.

I use Handcent, probably because it offers so many more options over the stock Sense app but probably because of habit also. I don't like pop-ups because of privacy issues and the Handcent seems to work the best for me.

I use GoSMS Pro. I tried Handcent for a while but I found Go to be smoother. They're almost identical in terms of features. However, Go lets you backup your texts for free. Helpful when flashing different ROMs.

i use iphone theme on Handcent with modifications.

I used to use Handcent until it started acting stupid. It worked fine & then all of a sudden started resending texts on every reboot, not sending texts properly(showed a spinning icon next to every message), etc. Now I use GoSms & I love it. All the features of Handcent with none of the bugs. The only thing I miss is the Handcent ringtone picker.

I'm surprised on how many people use stock. It doesn't offer enough features for me. I agree that handcent use to be better, but GO SMS pro has surpassed it in my opinion on the mere fact that it isn't buggy and looks a lot cleaner.

Also, its interesting no one uses Chomp SMS. Especailly if you ever use the iphone theme, chomp sms looks just like it. I loved BITEsms on my jailbroken iphone I used to have.

Used to use Chomp, now go.

just prefer the look of the stock sms app, especially when themed.

Yeah i love GoSMS's built in SMS and settings backup, i used to use only handcent but stopped mainly for that reason.
I hate stock messaging app i try i use it but get sick of it and switch. I hate the lack of customization.
I do wish, however, that text messages would still pop up on the lockscreen when using any other messaging apps

I use handcent since i got this phone but from what u note i might give gosms a whirl and see if its any better

ICS compatible Messaging app?

I'm really sick of the inability to turn off the emoticons in the stock SMS app. Are there any good messaging apps on the market that DON'T pop up the dumb "menu" softkey? That is really annoying.
I've tried Android 4 ICS Messaging but it just seems really buggy, it crashes while using MMS and last time I tried it, it kept duplicating incoming SMS.
Any suggestions?

our first OTA update should fix the menu softkey just like the One S received. do you hate the emoticons because they look extremely goofy? you're not alone there. as soon as we attain root, i'll be throwing in the new ICS Android ones to replace them. not sure why they thought these looked appealing. we just all have to be a little patient.

I don't want to replace them, I want to get rid of them. Hopefully that will be an option

Need modded mms.apk

Hi all,
I need an MMS.apk for my G3 which has the following features.
1. With an option to "Select All" when sending messages to a group rather than manually selecting all members in that group.
2. Sent time shown instead of received time even if the mobile was switched off.
3. Option to send scheduled sms
4. Scroll bar to move up to the start/desired place faster in a thread.

try go sms pro
it even has themes and its fluid.
also it has many more option to play with

I agree, I am also using GO SMS Pro now.
My idea is to minimize memory usage as much as possible by installing an extra application for the same use.
I use Kisadworx custom rom now. I can un-install MMS.apk and use GO SMS as default one however if we do factory settings the phone hangs.
Hence I asked for a modded MMS.apk so I do not need to install and play with other applications.

u can also try chompsms
it has a ios look and is simple to use
i once remember using a mms.apk of joyos which was extracted by someone
it too is simple and straight
