Porting dualcore to singlecore ?! - Android Software/Hacking General [Developers Only]

Just a small question
Do you think its possible to port a rom from e.g. galaxy s2 to hd2 ? Pr is it a difference that cant be solved? Thanks in advance

Afaik it should be possible. Maybe not very easy but it should work. i even think there's not much effort needed if the drivers are available. sgs2 rom to sgs port should be easy.

Hi, well, i dunno from wich phone the porting will better, but the firmware is this: cyanogenmod.com

Ill run it virtually soon, so I can see the interface. But first I must be able to extract the system files.. Which is a pain for the GT-S5570

Ps I gave my sgs4g to my sis in law which means I will blind port it but not until we found out who is working on it already and who is not. If you wana be testing rat, message me

I read in google posts that devices with hardware buttons running ICS will be using them and won't have their on screen replacements. That's good news, but i guess we'll need something official to support that.

Repartition?

HEAR ME OUT PLEASE! OK I have a Captivate, we have figured out the unbrickableness of our phone, and even have nexus s bootloaders working on there, fastboot, CWM, and even OEM unlock... Now to the real question, does the Nexus S ever get Repartitioned? I ask because the only reason we can't run your ROMs is because the Partition Table is whack compared to what it needs to be for Nexus S ROMs? Any help appreciated!

What exactly do you mean? Do you want to know if we've figured out a way to repartition the NAND to allocate more memory to the internal memory from the sdcard?
If that's your question then the answer is; no, not yet, but when I get free time I want to look into that more. There's a topic about this right here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1314146

No I'm Repartitioning so that the Nexus S ROM will work, so the ROM is installed to the directory that it is supposed to be... no need to reallocate memory! As I said we have gotten all the way to 'Nexus S bootloaders>fastboot>fastboot OEM unlock>installed CWM for the Nexus S!

There is currently no ROM porting ics to our phone. We do have plenty of great roms available, though, so feel free to spend some time digging around our forums and reading. This is how you become a not-newb.

Help PLEASE

Hello everyone,
I would like to start by saying I'm totally new to this world, so I ask that you hang in there with me. Ok
So I just rooted my Samsung sch-r820 (galaxy admire 4g) with metro pcs.
I want to update my software. I install clockworkmod but it seems not to be working.
I tried cyanmod but my device is unsupported. So my question is can i even update anything. Or am i stuck with gingerbread til i buy a new device.

By doing a quick Google search I couldn't find any development for this device here at XDA. So probably there won't be any CWM recovery/CyanogenMod ports for this model. Also don't try installing CWM recovery or CyanogenMod mentioned for other devices, as doing it so will brick your device.
I was wondering if I could use the Samsung admire info do you know?

Not sure what you meant by Samsung Admire Info?!
I know your device is Samsung Admire 4G, but what exactly do you want to modify in it? If you are looking for ICS ports, the chances for it will be quite less considering its not much popular device.

Samsung Admire, or Galaxy Admire ... both should be same.
Samsung Galaxy Admire has 800Mhz processor and Admire 4G has 1Ghz, so as there is a change in hardware most likely it won't work. You may need to port the ROM to Admire 4G in order for it to work.
I have no idea what port is or how to do it. Thank you for taking the time out and helping me.

Yeah, porting is something beyond the scope of what you've asked. Anyways if interested you can always have a look for Tutorials in XDA University, as there are tons of them. Good luck and have a nice day. :good:
