[Q] How can i make App access internet through proxy configured in proxy settings - Windows Phone 7 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

In the latest update Mango, we're very glad to see the proxy settings available for WIFI and mobile network (APN), but here comes another new issue, I can only make IE browser work with those proxy settings.
Let me make this clear.

I configured the server IP address, port, username and password after edit my WIFI proxy settings, then I succeeded to open mobile.twitter.com in the IE 9 browser on my Focus, however, when i was very excited to try it in Twitter windows phone app, it was failed.
Does the proxy only work with browser? I don't understand.
Is there anybody can help this?

Need WM mobile browser with SOCKS proxy support or workaround

Hello,
Im using a htc hd2 with WM6.5
Does anyone know of a mobile browser in which I can change SOCKS proxy settings - just like mozilla firefox? (ive tried minimo and fennec a3, but no good, unless I could use some addon in fennec).
I want to tell my browser to listen on port 1080 for a SOCKS connection (im port forwarding with pocketputty).
Alternatively, does a program like 'tsocks' exist for windows mobile, in which I can socksify for my mobile browser? I havent used tsocks before btw.
Or finally, is there a way to edit the registry in WM6.5 so that the browser does listen on port 1080 for SOCKS?
Thankyou,
Will
yeah...bro..i need sm workaround as well !! please read my thread if it relates !!!
Summary:
I am attempting to use a remote SSH server as a proxy for browsing the web on my htc hd2.
This is called a "Poor man's VPN" - If you have never heard of this, please read this: http ://wiki.freaks-unidos.net/ssh-port-forwarding
I'm currently using pocket putty with dynamic port forwarding to forward port 1080 on a remote SSH server back to my localhost on my device.
I cannot seem to find a mobile browser that has the ability to configure SOCKS proxy settings. I need to be able to tell the browser to use a SOCKS proxy, to listen to localhost on port 1080 which is being forwarded.
Since I havent found a browser to do this, I have tried to use proxycap to sockify a browser. I basically want to redirect the traffic coming from the ssh tunnel with proxycap to the browser even though the browser has no SOCKS support.
I dont have a technical background.
I dont know if this actually works
Is it possible to do the above? If so, how do I configure proxycap to act between the SSH tunnel and the mobile browser...
well I found a way to configure proxy settings on minimo
you type into the URL "about:config".
Then you change some entries
network.proxy.socks......
however, I ran into another problem...does wm6.5 have a problem with with localhost or 127.0.0.1???
Because i read that localhost doesnt work on wm past version 5...
how else can get a loopback address??
bumpwwwwwww

Using internet via proxy server and joining domain on Android

Hi
I had wifi in my office where we could use net without any problem, now proxy server has been set up. I know all the settings but cant figure out how to configure these on my HTC Legend (using stock Rom).
Kindly guide me how to configure my Legend to use internet through proxy
And how can I join a domain to access my folders on the network and use internet?
Any help will be highly appreciated
Sent from my HTC Legend using XDA App
Use a Proxy program
I am assuming you are on a windows domain. I suggest you download a program called Proxy Droid from the marketplace and setup the details on it. the reason being that windows domain requires NTLM authentication that very few program provide.
Cheers,
Vikram.
I'll try and hit back
proxy Droid works for me

Proxy and port

In my school we have Wifi only on hallway,so we can use it only at break and its bad . But teachers have seccured wifi, which is in class too. We have found password, but its need to setupp proxy and port to work. Fortunately its the same proxy and port like on the all school PCs, co i just write proxy from browser settings. But on Transformer i can set up proxy/port only for HTTP protocol, so its work only in browser. But i want to use this for some apps too. I have tried some apps to set up proxy but it didnt work. Does anyone of you know hot to set up proxy for the apps? If it posible.
Needs ROOT, couldn't find an unrooted method. -- https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.proxydroid&hl=en
I think you can set up proxy using AnyCut, but I have not tried it to know if it will work for what you need.
SSHTunnel will work, but you need a SSH proxy. [And obviously root, but who doesn't root?] It has the ability to use a global proxy or you can select individual apps.

Here is a page with a list of SSH proxies:

Btw, a SSH proxy is more secure, it encrypts your data. But of course, the proxy you connect to could save your web traffic, just like any other proxy.

Android authenticated proxy on data

Hi,
is there some app that would let me fill proxy url (with authentication) and then run traffic through that proxy? Or at least some add—on to some browser, something like switchy omega is for desktop chrome.
I have found https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.assets.androidproxy but this doesn't support authentication.
I know there should be some solutions for rooted phone, do I need to get root access for this to work?
I also know that I can setup proxy for the access point, but that means always fill username and password by hand.
Thanks
