Hey guys I've been looking to try another rom.
I've had gingerbeast, leedroid, miui, and now I'm on inspired ace.
I want a Rom the focuses on speed and stability. I want sense and I don't want force close issues. I've been looking at maybe trying virtuous unity, dilligafs sense Rom, or maybe ninja.
I want a Rom that has very few bugs and doesn't necessarily need to be updated all the time.
I should note that I'm very happy with inspired ace but I need more speed and hoping to find a Rom with stronger WiFi.
Eye candy is not a primary focus.
Which do you think should be my next Rom?

Give leedroid a good great ROM.

um, i already tried leedroid...
worked pretty good, but i want to try more roms before i can say that that is the best one for me...
CoreDroid hands down has the most/best features and you can always expermient with the kernels (unity and Lee's) to see which you prefer. Both are great kernels.

Virtuous. Do it.

I loved virtuous but I'm trying cleardroid for a while see how this goes. So far the battery life has been amazing.

Try Ingersoll.
Fast, stable, near stock experience...performance with no bells and whistles.
Still one of my fav ROM's even though I'm running with the Beast currently.
I love virtuous unity 1.25. Auto CPU dameon, tweaked sense 3.0, stable fast and good battery life to boot.

I've most recently tried Virtuous and it looked good, but the audio (phone calls) sounded terrible. I'm not sure if I missed something, because I only flashed it to get a quick look at it. Maybe there was a fix in the OP or something specific to my device. Either way, I haven't heard other people with the issue and if I wanted Sense, that's what I'd want to run. Sense 3.0 is nice.
yea, i would like to try sense 3.0, so i think ill give virtuous a try
thanks for the feedback guys, ill revive my thread if i find it missing things i really want
I didn't see anyone recommend Android revolution. It's an optimized stock Rom. Very stable and doesn't update as often as others. Give it a try.

Ingersoll is pretty legit, I bounce from that to cm7, currently using Unity and It's pretty great except for battery drain and seems laggy at times and that could also be operator error

I installed it last night. Loving it so far, but I had to install the audio fix; as you said, the sound was crappy, but the audio fix took care of it. So far it's great. Best data speeds I've seen since Inspired Ace.

Virtuous
Sent from my Inspire 4G
I've run most every ROM, multiple times, for Sense, Virtuous Unity is the most trouble free. Lee, Core, Clear, AR, all had some issues for me.
For non-GB, Ingersoll is very, very good.
If you are having audio trouble on Virtuous Unity, it's most likely a kernel issue, not a Virtuous problem. Clear data, cach, dalvik and reflash. The audio is perfect on that ROM.
Might i ask where the audio fix is thanks

Cm7 with faux 0.4.3 kernel. Everything works. Bluetooth and apns are fixed. And its 2.3.7 gingerbread
Sent from my LG-P999 using xda premium
You can download an app called getril from the market it will check
you're ril(radio interface layer) to see if it matches you're baseband and if not will also allow you to change it, its not custom ril's but will insure you have the right one.

CM7 stable with the morfic kernel is awesome! Ver. 2.3.7 and all components work fine except for small apn fallout but a hard reboot fixes that issue.
Sent from my LG-P999 using XDA App
I have tried CM7 and Weapon. With CM7 I encountered problems with WiFi calling not working reliably (a hard reboot would fix this but I found myself having to do this often) and losing apns (I hear that this may be fixed now), so I finally gave up and tried Weapon G2x.
For me Weapon G2x has been rock solid and everything I need works. I have heard that some people have trouble with HDMI out at 1080p, but I have not used the HDMI port on the phone yet so cannot comment.
I have not tried EB.
I like Euroskanks CM7 kanged cherry pickings. Good stuff.
Are there any ROMS biult upon 2.3.7 yet? I'm currently running GSInfuse, and I like the ROM, but I would prefer running the latest version of Android. (I always like having the latest and greatest kernel, OS, and modem on my phone).
Cm7 runs 2.3.7

Can I O/C CM7, or run my own Kernel? I personally like to keep up to date with the latest modems, and I'm running Kernel Infusion-GB-CoreA. If I can't OC it to at least 1.6 GHz, I won't run it.
cm7 has a built in oc kernel which does go to 1.6ghz. you can not run other gingerbread kernels on it that arent meant for cm7.
Cool on the Kernel, but can I install new modems to the ROM? I'm currently running KK3, and the speed is great.

Yes, I'm running KK3 on CM7 -- working flawlessly.
One caution though if you're considering CM7 -- bluetooth doesn't work, and won't work any time soon...
If that's a deal-breaker for you, then don't bother with CM7.
I've learned to live without my BT headset, because I cannot live without CM7
U can overclock to 1.6 on cm7 but it'll crash or at least mine did. 1.4 works tho.

Wish they could fix it. $250+ tickets for not using BT makes me have to have it. Loved CM7 on my captivate.
CM7 Bluetooth works, just not with all devices (headsets in particular). Wiimotes work perfectly and it also pairs with my computers.
bluetooth data works, bluetooth audio doesnt.
Cm7 says 2.3.7 but its actually 2.3.4....2.3.6 is the highest unofficial firmware we have

MIUI is 2.3.7 and there is now one built with ICS framework. It still has the same issues with Bluetooth audio though.

where are you getting that information from?
I recommend miui. It performs magnificently, but allows you to change your theme daily if you so choose. I'm running miui @ 1.4ghz and it has no problem with it.
Sent from my SGH-I997 using xda premium
the miui build is based off the cm7 build. you will still run into issues like bluetooth audio. so keep that in mind.
My "information" is i have compiled it and taken it completely apart and examied all the firmware and libs....i study....alot...check the forum
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I997 using xda premium
No offense intended, but you don't study hard enough then. You are completely and utterly incorrect. CM7 is indeed 2.3.7. Period.
I stand corrected then ...thanks

If I switch over to CM7, will I be able to restore from Titanium Backup?
Let me try this simpler as no one replied.
What ROM and Kernel is your favorite combination for Gingerbread and/or ICS?
Any major bugs with a workaround?
And at one point I had an ICS ROM that let MX Player play with no choppiness but absolutely cannot remember which ROM I had flashed! Is anyone running ICS and able to playback videos? I keep reading and reading and not finding an answer on that one. I understand that it won't capture video, but that is ok. Anyone?
I'm currently using MIUI 204130 with the stock kernel underclocked to 816 to save battery but this ROM worked well with Faux's 052 also. So far this has been the best set up I've tried as far as stability, performance, and battery life.
I was also using TonyP's Paranoid Android (versions 6-10, haven't tried 11 yet) and was able to play video just fine using MX player without issues.
My favorite setup is what's in my Sig. Can't tell you about mx player, though, haven't tried it

Thank you guys! I'll give those flavors a shot!

I tried your setup, and it ran smooth. But I am dependant on Wifi Calling APP and it seems when I activate it I get "process com.android.phone has stopped, every 20-30 secs. I tried setting up with stock CM9 kernel, as well as older Harsh kernerls. Still same issue so swapped back to Hellfire Phenoix 2.3 w/ Fauxs 052.
Any suggestions on the com.android.phone crash? I can't find a definite fix on the Development forums. I had this issue with Hellfire Sandwhich as well.
Think there is an issue with Tmo Wifi calling app and ICS.

Yeah, Wi-Fi calling is unreliable. Some people have no problem with it working, some people (myself included) can't get it to work

You really don't need super charger with that combination. I have the same and I find no lag when multi tasking.
At OP, if interested in ics. Try paranoid Android. It's a hybrid phone/tablet ROM.it's default kernel is good enough but you can try harsh kernel with it as well.

Well before I reinstalled v6 it was pretty laggy. Once I reinstalled it ran perfect

I got simple mobile running on my g2x for my wife. And data seems slow it wasn't before I had to mess with apns a lot to get it to work. And the web wouldn't work unless I checked request desktop version. And the Facebook app won't load gives me unstable server or some weird ish there. I'm running eb ics 4.0.3 I believe and I tried a few other ics rom. Any help is good

Go to a Gingerbread rom until the G2X gets a fully working ICS/Jellybean port. I'd recommend CM7 Nightlies.

Any flaws with cm7? Not too fond with it. And if you can what are some pros about cm7?
Sent from my LG-P999 using xda app-developers app
Simple mobile runs perfect on my phone, just got with them a week ago and everything works. On temasek(?)'s latest ROM.
Benefits of cm7? Lol too many to list.
cm7 or a cm7 based variant is definitely the most operable option for the g2x at the moment in terms of every day usability and stability. I don't really know why you would be particularly against using it so if you care to detail why you don't like it aside from the fact that its gingerbread based perhaps we could help you to consider juny. eb ics may well be the reason you're having the problems you're having, a lot of the ics/jb variant roms have data drop issues. if you haven't and are deadset on using an ics/jb rom, try paranoid android, kashmalaga, or the hackfest roms.
