What do I save in TB in order to keep my text messages when wiping - Thunderbolt General

thanks for any help

you have a gmail account?
Consider running something like SMS Backup + by Jan Berkel
https://market.android.com/details?id=com.zegoggles.smssync&feature=search_result
it will back up your SMS messages to labels in your gmail account... You can also restore to phone after wipe if needed.
It has worked pretty well for me. i.e. I haven't noticed any issues with it, and I can view my backed up SMS messages up in my Gmail account on my PC if/when needed.
While it says it can backup (but not restore) MMS messages, I don't get enough Pix messages to know how that works. Nor do I have it backup call log entries.

Hey thanks for this. Now I'll just back up my SMS before flashing and then restore them after flashing.

Storing text messages

Is there an option on my phone to save text messages, MMS, to my storage card. I've looked through all the options on my phone, but I can't find anything on this. I would like to have all my text messages intact even when I have to master reset my phone for some reasons.
Back them up with PIM Backup. Search the forum for a download link. I'm afraid no MMS support yet, though
Yea I use spb backup to backup my PIM every night.

There is no option to save texts, but when you backup the PIM it automatically backs up your texts.

[Q] problem after restoring +30000 SMS

Hey guy's
I restored 33000 SMS with SMS Backup & Restore.
I selected it as the default SMS application, restored my SMS and get back to Handcent SMS as the default SMS application.
Everything seem's to be here but when i enter in a conversation (the biggest for example), blackScreen, nothing loads. I think kitkat doesn't like so many SMS.. but why? JB liked it
an idea? (I already cleared cache and data of each application)

[Q] How to restore group texts in Android?

My Device setup
Moto Droid Bionic running a nightly of cyanogenmod 10.1 which is based on android 4.2.2.
The problem - restoring group texts!
I cannot find a way to restore group texts. I have tried SMS backup & restore, SMS backup+, titanium backup, and Nandroid manager. none of those restore group texts. Most of those apps ignore the group texts all together or restore them as single texts with only me listed as the recipient and no one else. I would like my texts restored exactly as they were when I did my backup. I have my TWRP backup ready to go but no way to get the texts out exactly as they were.
If someone has SUCCESSFULLY restored group texts, I would love to know how and if I could do it. If anyone has a suggestion that's likely to work, I'll hear that too. Thanks in advance.

[Q] Google Notifications

My wife's Nexus 5 had recently stopped notifying her of Hangouts Messages and GMail messages. I have tried numerous things including complete wipe of data/cache and install of factory image 5.0.1 (LRX22C). Even after wipe and installation of the factory image using fastboot/adb, the phone still does not notify. Hangouts will notify when SMS messages come in, but actual Hangouts messages do not notify. GMail notifies for emails coming in on an Exchange account, but actual GMail messages do not notify. What can I possibly do if full wipe and reload without any sort of backup does not fix the issue?

Sent SMS sync issue

Hi, just bought a new ATT S7, running 6.01.
For years, i have run SMS Backup + to sync texts to my gmail account. Love it.
On my new S7, this app does not recognize/sync SMS texts sent from the phone. If i use Google now to dictate "send message to xxx saying yyy" ...that text composed that way gets sync'd. But one that is typed or dictated in the messaging app does NOT.
Sent SMS texts are NOT sync'd either using Exchange activesync. Recvd texts sync fine.
I also use MightyText and sent texts from the phone do not show up in the app. If i send a text from the MightyText web app, it usually will sync via SMS Backup +.
I have reached out to both vendors for assistance.
i have changed my keyboard from Samsung kybd to Google keyboard. no luck.
Anyone seeing anything like this?
I turned off "Advanced Messaging" and it seems to take longer to Send the SMS from the phone, and the message will intermittently sync with the various apps (Sms backup +, MightyText.) But not always.
make sure your apn info is correct for SMS / MMS

Click to collapse
Keeping ADV messaging disabled seems to do the trick.
