Mms user agent help - HTC Desire S

Hi all
Got a desire s for the wife. It's stock. Need to change the user agent so her mms comes through properly. I have heard it can be changed in handcent but can not find the option in the app anywhere.
Any help out there??
Thanks in advance.

Tried Go SMS and same thing, no option to change user agent even though many sites etc say it can?
Is it possible the phone doesn't support this so the option simple doesnt show in the app?

I havent installed GO sms right now on phone. But, if I have good memory, go to settings, then mms? and then on the end of page that is. Or look at item "sendig messages"? There is you looking for.

[Q] SMS Issues

I have recently got the X10i after yrs of a N95 ( sorry ), am doing my best to like the phone and am giving it every chance. I have lurked on this site and last week I rooted the phone and made it more personnal for me, thanks to the developers and those who provide the info for rooting.
I quickly removed the moxier stuff and also the messaging app but I am having issues with handcent sms, I wanted it for group/bulk texting tbh but it seems I have to restart the phone to get it to send a text to a group which has got 18 recipients.
Once the phone has started up I can send a group text no probs but the second group text will send to 1 or 2 of my contacts but the rest then fail, so I then restart the phone and resend the text and they get delivered, I have tried chompsms, grouptext and groupui, but each one gives me the same problem.
Has anybody got any ideas or another app I could try to resolve this issue ?
maybe it could be that the sms apps you use need (or work thanks) the main messaging app which were installed on the phone, the one you uninstalled.

I dont think it is that to be honest, I think it is more to do with the amount of contacts in the list, so I am hopeful that somebody confirms this and also gives me a better option.

Actually this could be true, as you should not remove core system applications, such as messaging.
so, you can try resetting your phone using Update Service software on your pc. I tried searching for an SMS app in my mobile folder to share with you, but there are several files that may be connected togheter, about messaging, and I am not able to choose the right one (or ones) to share.

[Q] Names in messages? How do I get rid of them?

So I just purchased a brand new Vibrant 4g for the amazing deal of only $250 after I sold my captivate for the same price the other night. I have a question that hopefully can be answered.
1. I have names in my messages? For example. My message might say "Me: How are you doing?" with the incoming being "*name here*: I am so awesome. Nothing can touch my awesomeness". This to me, is a complete waste of my messaging space since I can just look up top to see the name of who it is. My Captivate did not have this same "problem". I glanced through the settings but didn't notice a way to switch it off.
Thanks to anyone who could answer this for me, I really appreciate it. I may think of more questions eventually, but these are it for now.
So do you guys have this happen also? Do I need to post a picture?
That is just the way the default text messaging app displays messages. If you don't like it, I would recommend downloading another SMS app like Handcent which is fully customizable and doesn't add names.

Why didn't my Captivate do this then? It was basically the same phone just without the 4g...

SMS changed to MMS when sending to multiple recipients??

Whenever I send an SMS to multiple recipients in Hangouts, it says in the text field "Send an MMS message". Is this a lie? Surely it's still an SMS... There's no picture or any other attachement...
Go in messaging settings and uncheck "Send multiple messages as mms".

Thanks but I cannot find this option, where is it? I've looked in Hangouts and everywhere else...
ive searched also and cannot find that option?
£1.17 this has cost me....thanks for pointing this out before it's cost me more.
A quick Google seems to indicate the option to not do this was removed in the new version of Hangouts that we all have.

It seems that there is no option for this in the Nexus 5 version of hangouts...
Yes, the option seems to be missing from the Hangout app. It is there in the Nexus 4 Messaging app.
The option to do so is currently missing,
Your best bet, would be to use an alternative sms app, i can suggest Textra. However, there are plenty sms apps that can grant that.

Extensive discussion of this issue here.
Seems like 'the team' considers this normal behavior.....
The increasing tendency towards reducing options in all Google products worries me. "We Know Best" was always the reason I stayed away from Apple, but Google seems to have caught that disease now.
the lack of an option is annoying, but it's admittedly the cleanest way to handle group messages so that you aren't getting individual replies.
i also hate group texts though, it's like an awful mailing list you can't get off of.

4.4.2 using messaging when it's not default sms app

Pretty much title. I am using Textsecure but my wife's phone has issues accepting picture messages through textsecure while it's encrypted so I was going to send pictures via messaging but even adjusting the app ops settings messaging is still saying it's not allowed because it's not the default sms app. Anyway around this?

Thanks, but what I was looking for is a way to send messages with Messaging when it's NOT the Default SMS app. I want all of my texts going in to Textsecure and be able to send pictures with Messaging. But when Messaging isn't the Default SMS app, it doesn't allow you to send messages. Even if I give it permission in App Ops. :\

Nope. You can only use 1 at a time.

SMS can't be read.

Hello dear friends. I recently got a HTC u 11. It has no provider branding.
So I got the latest update and notice I can't read SMS in HTCs app. I see the thumbnail text but when I click on it I can't see nothing. Same goes for writing. Can't see text but thumbnail. I already installed AOSP SMS app but I want to use HTCs one.
Thanks
Rene from UK
go into app settings and clear data for messages. should fix it. if not, no idea
