I have a play list I use for listening to music via youtube. Is there anyway to have my screen turn off while playing said music either automatically after a set period of time or manually?
I am willing to use another app if it could provide this feature I just don't want to extract the entire playlist if I don't need to as it would be quite time consuming ripping each one manually

Question: Hi there
the stock video app on my tab plays videos partially then stops and goes back to the video list. Is this a known bug and if it is does anyone know how to fix it? If i access videos via the file explorer it plays fine!
Also is there any way to play all videos continuously and randomly or a player that does this?
Thanks

Hmm. Playing the video partially is weird. What if you keep tapping the screen? will it finish playing?
If you click on the menu button, there is a option that says "Auto Play Next".
Hi there
the video stops suddenly so i am unable to tap the screen. It then returns to video app screen. The same video will play fully if accessed via the file explorer, that's the weird thing. This means i can not use the auto play next feature within the video app although the video app is what plays the video when opened via explorer.

Does this happen on all video's?
Hi there yes it does?

Have you tried any other video players just to see if it also happens outside of the stock player?
Yes, i jave tried numerous apps such as qq, zimly and mixzing and they all work fine. They just do not have what i need, which is the ability to arrange videos in various orders such as date or size as well as auto play next or random play. The stock player is perfect for this need. As above, if i open.the videos via the my files folder it uses the stock app to play the videos and the problem is gone. This would be fine but this way you lose the ability to auto play video. Its extremely frustrating! The video app seems to play about 2 mins of videos then audio goes slightly jerky and it stops and returns to app. Is there a way to re install the video app? Thanks

Reinstalling the video app would require Root. Have you done that or considered it?
By advised rooting does invalidate your warranty. Samsung issued a newsletter to all service centres advising them if they received any phones that had been rooted they were not to carry out repairs under warranty.
Anyway, has it happened all the time since owning the Tab or has it only started playing up recently?
If it has been playing up all the time it may be something to do with the codecs of the video where when you select direct from the player it picks up the problem but misses when you select the video using a third-party selector (My Files you mentioned).
If that is the case there is nothing you can do about it other than ensure your movie files don't have the same codecs.
If it has been playing up only recently it will be some form of corruption that has crept in.
The only way you are going to get around this is either root your Tab and reinstall the Player.app (providing you can get hold of one that is).... or carry out a Factory Reset that should clear the problem.
Hi thanks the advice. I will try a factory reset abd hopefully that will work as i do not want to root the device.

Android pauses music playback to play notifications. Is there a fix?
CyanogenMod 7 has the option to change that but I'm not sure how to do that otherwise.
I've read about a app called Tasker and that will prioritize your processes. It costs 6-something on the Market if I recall correctly.

Tasker is more like Locale. It doesn't do that - From what I know.
BTW, having this same issue on my HTC DHD.
It have to do with the Audio Focus in Android.
Is the Cyogen information accurate?
Does anyone have any more information?
I think you might be able to download the music player app called "double twist" from the market, and i dont think it will cut off. also, you can make all of the notifications vibrations if you dont mind

I use Doubletwist, it does not do that. It also messes up some of my album art and flat out doesn't play one of my few songs on my phone.
And I do not want to turn off notifications. I wish Google would fix such a horrible oversight.
this isn't really specific to the DX, but it's what i have so i'm asking here:
i'm looking for an app that will play really long mp3's (like hours long... like a podcast) and, more specifically, will remember where you are in the podcast when you quit the program and start back up at that point when you want to start listening again.
currently i'm just using the native music app and i have to try and remember myself where i left off in a podcast and manually skip ahead to that point every time i need to stop and then come back to a particular file.
thanks for the info!!
I've been using Google Listen for audio podcasts

I like .podkast. I download and listen to them with it.
Carcast. You can search for, download, and listen to podcasts in it. It remembers where you are in the podcast and restarts it from where you left off. It's also free...
Stitcher is the best podcast app it seems to have everything

Check out PodTrapper. I used this app all the time when I had a Blackberry. When the dev came out with the Android version, I made the switch over to Android.
It's a powerful app that I use on a daily basis.

Beyond Pod works great
Doggcatcher. best podcast app there is. and it's temp on sale with funds going to support Japan.
Listen....
Ive used pretty much all of them (except for DoggCatcher, because it aint free...)... Heres my humble opinion:
For almost one year, i used aCast, in my rooted HTC G1 (CyanogenMod 6.1), worked fine, until out of the blue, stopped catching...
I have to say, i ONLY use it to download and listen to TWiT casts... ive also been looking for an entertaining podcast featuring alternative punk rock music, but havent been sucessfull (suggestions are appreciated).
After aCast, i went on trying mostly every single podcast catcher i could...
Hapi Podcast worked awesome on my Droid X for maybe 4 months, i actually rated it 4 stars and an inspiring comment, and then.. poof... no synching..
Ive been happy now with Google Listen... Its the most simple of them all, plus, it syncs well with google reader on your pc. It remembers where you left on all your casts.. (well i usually sync down oly 5 or 6, and it does remember the part where im at, every time)
Google Listen seems to be my the app for the job.
Hello there,
After my 16 Gb SD card decided that after I removed my phone from the PC in USB Hard Drive mode to become corrupted in some way, I decided that I'd check out HTC Sync to see what I could do to make sure that I kept my collection of photos as up to dat as possible.
Picture synchronisation is great. Works fine and takes mere seconds to hook up.
My problem comes down to music... and it's probably because I'm an awkward so-and-so.
I use FLAC for all of my music, with the exception of any iTunes and Amazon MP3 music I buy. It might be bulkier on the capacity requirements but I prefer it over MP3. HTC Sync won't sync up .flac files it seems and it would mean switching to MP3 or finding another way of doing this.
Anyone got any suggestions on how to sync flac files? The best I can think of is renaming .flac to .mp3. AFAIK, it should not change the file content or quality and should play normally through an app (PowerAMP in my case)
I use a very handy app called Syncness. It automatically copies all new files (regardless of format) in nominated folders to a specified spot on my pc each time it sees my home wifi ssid, or when I manually hit the 'sync now' button within the app.
It's a bit tricky to set up at first, but the developer is without doubt the best I've encountered on android marketplace and responds to questions extremely quickly.

Thanks for the tip!
App costs and is 4 stars, but a lot of negative reviews lately. It does not inspire me.

Hey. WinAMP can manage and sync your music library to Android device (even without WinAMP mobile app) and you can use default music player.

Syncness seems to work flawlessly on Wifi. I've only run a test sync so far but I'm confident that it will work just as I need it to.
I was thinking that on tablets you can listen to any song you want for free but on phone you have to listen to a playlist on shuffle so has anybody ever tried using a tablet apk and sending to their phone and being able to listen to any song with the phone, if so could you provide a download to the apk, if it doesn't well it was a thought

when a app is installed it will know if its being installed on a phone or tablet etc. even if you could mess around with it somehow, the screen would be too small to fit the tablet UI.
