Of all things to ***** about too! Ugh! I'd imagine that the douche poster could have tried advanced data restore in recovery... I mean, having to set everything up all over again can be a pain, but one can use titanium too.
Its gonna suck to not see his rom progress over here now.

On vacation so didn't get a chance to catch up before they were zapped. I highly doubt it was because of a single poster or comment. More like a culmination of *****ing about included features or lack of something, the same repeated questions answered literally 100s of times before (often on the same page as the question), etc, again and again and again after every single release.

That in combination of the dude not laying off him. It was something like 4 or 5 pages worth of *****ing back and forth between people defending chingy and a couple others.

Not sure what that meant. Anyways, this has been going on for a while. He was upset a while back because of something very similar - he sets up his roms to autowipe so that there are less bad flashover errors. While its a pain, there are ways around it for those who need to (i used advanced data restore) and the constant grumbling for features in freeware was unwarranted.
There have been 2 devs (chingy, gmichaelow) that i know of that gave up dev work on xda because of hounding by the people with the sense of entitlement. devs typically spend hours testing plus this does not pay their bills...and they have other lives.

It's funny how some people complain about something they get for free. I really wanted to try that 3D.

The sad thing is, if this person was so insistent that their data be intact, all they had to do was do an advanced nandroid restore and only do /data, I just did it and it works fine for me, going to gitis 1.1 from 1.0 (although this really isn't recommended since if something is broken because of this its your own fault and will not be supported)

why are people so concerned about Gingerbread? I bet at least half of the people who kept asking for Gingerbread does not even know why they wanted it. I'd like to see what is the main reason people need it. I understand it's the latest version and it got some cool features but does it really affect the phone that much? I'd rather ask LG to fix some of the issues they have now rather than the Gingerbread... just my 2 cents...
I thought the wordage (yes I did) of my tweet would display the humor in was going for. Now I did mean it don't let the smooth taste fool ya. But you guys are so he'll bent on making people feel stupid you didn't even notice it.
I didn't start this thread for scrubs to come in and flame. I want Gingerbread for the same reason I buy a new phone every 2-3 months. Because it's new. I know how to root my phone, I have every ROM stored on my phone so I can play with it in my spare time, but what's wrong with wanting an official update?
And don't you think an official update would come with bug fixes?
This forum has gone to ****, you ****ers need to get off your high horses and chill out. =D
But if you want a list.
Improved UI
Improved power management
Improved copy/paste
Those are the features I want. Keyboard seems nice too but I can download that now.
Anyways thanks for taking your time to try and ruin my day, but you failed.

I said this in the Inc forums, I don't know what's making him leave here to go to some dinky forum.
It's the new cool kid hang out, duh
Maybe he, like others, has grown tired of the attitudes here. Xda is not the end all be all of forums, nor is it the entire android community. Perhaps he felt it was more conductive to the development of his roms to move to a forum where they do not allow things to be named after drugs and heinous crimes while banning people over mentioning god.

I find it so ironic when ppl talked smack about one dev "taking his toys (roms) & leaving the playground" and then another dev left xda with a device that was obtained with the help of xda donations. Sure, once you buy something you can do what you want with it, but that is quite literally "taking your toys & leaving the playground". I would have been so pissed if I had contributed to that.

Just cause they left xda does not mean they stopped their work, is it oh so difficult to subscribe to their private forum? Or does it have to do with the fact most of the people here feel they are entitled to have it the way they want it or not at all, our are you just that lazy? Dam 1500 people havd followed them already, just like chingy had every right to do what he did, just because you want it your way doesn't mean you are gonna get it.

As I said, once you buy something it's yours to do what you want with. Yes, you can find the dev elsewhere, and one can only assume he will continue developing for a device that was at least partially funded with donation money. But it's the principle of it all. Donations to devs *after* a software project has been released is one thing. Donations to a dev with the stated purpose of obtaining a device -- and the implied expectation of developing for the donating user base -- is quite a different matter. Maybe I'm the only one who sees it this way, but if I had donated to help buy a phone for someone & they left that forum, I would feel used & abandoned, and proly a little resentful.
Just sayin'

This is a bit ridiculous. Where in the bounty thread did it say all ROMs/mods you develop for the Thunderbolt are to be exclusively released on XDA?
He is still working and if you are running a sense ROM right now then you are probably using at least one of his mods right now.
Just wait a bit and see what he has in store, and chill out about where the files will be released.

This isn't going to end well, so lets nip it in the bud now. As is probably on all the forums there is no most/best/awesomemest etc. Its all subjective on what a person likes or dislikes does or doesn't do. I can say black ice, but the next person says AR, then the next says something else until you essentially have all the roms listed from the Dev section.

You don't even have to read a lot of posts, you read maybe one or two pages at the most and you'll find out, for instance absolution(the only Rom I use on my inspire) is extremely stable for me and is perfect for my needs but it may not be the same for you it may not work for you, you may prefer sense, so really its all personal preference. Threads like these get closed all the time because they're unnecessary since most of the roms in this forumare plenty stable except the ones that say they are betas and have things that don't work. There is that a good enough answer for you? Because that's exactly what that picture says. A picture is worth a thousand words.

I guess maybe you guys have more going on here with your roms then the epic touch community has atm.. there are probably 3 or four roms that ppl would agree on being the more stable and bug free roms....that may not be the case here, but like I said im out on vacation and was just hoping for a way to find something to fix my nieces phone before I head out home tomorrow. Either way I looks I'll just have do some searching of my own when I get back from the beach....best regards and sorry for being that guy to post a subjective question

That Awesome Force Close Is Back!

Well, I finally did it - back to stock. Just had too many issues with the roms, although they were super fun.
I thought, "Well the stock Froyo didn't have any issues from what I remember..."
Except all the force closes. It's amazing. I remember now how bad it was.
And yes, I'm rooted.
What can I do to fix these? These random force closes are brutal. Other people must be dealing with this.
Thanks!

First of all, THANKS for the reply.
I'm wondering if this is a Titanium Backup issue. I get a TON of single vibrate than three-vibrate signals followed by a mobile manager close (or other force close). I always use TB to reinstall my apps after a rom flash. I only do app reinstall (not app + data)
But the one-vibrate followed by three-vibrate, that happens all the time.
Just like the first responder said, the lag is INSANE even on stock froyo and the force closes are frustrating.
Should I re-go back to stock and just never use TB and install all apps manually? Or is there a way to figure this out? Because if so, I can shoot back up to a nice ICS build.
THANK you!!!
I use TB regularly... best $$ for an app I spent...if your just gonna settle for stock why not go with qkster one clicker... to stock ?
I backup and restore regularly no prob...

Please don't assume anything. As someone who had a computer repair business, I can attest to the fact that sometimes hardware just doesn't play nice no matter what you do. Or are you one of those people that think hardware can never be at fault?
My phone had the same issues with any rom I tried. And no, I wasn't doing anything wrong. I tried installing from rooted stock, did all the wipes and formatting, but every time it eventually became glitchy. So far, stock works fine for me, so I'm sticking with it. There's obviously something about my hardware that doesn't agree with the updated kernel/software.
Samsung made millions of these phones. Do really believe that every single one will work perfectly with software that wasn't intended for it in the first place?

When someone goes around saying it's definitely this or definitely that, yeah, I have a problem with it. You're implying that there's no chance of it being hardware related. That right there shows how much you really know.
Btw genius, my phone never ran 100% perfect from the start. I suppose that was my fault because I took it out of the box wrong?

Hi guys - no, I would LOVE LOVE LOVE to be running GB or ICS without the force close issues.
Maybe my second post got lost among the, ahem, spirited debate but I would love some assistance.
I'm 99.9% sure I reflashed back to stock correctly. Then all I did was a recovery with TB (app only, no data). I've read elsewhere this could be the culprit.
Any ideas? This force close and lag thing is driving me nuts. Plus it hinders any roms I flash for GB or ICS.
Thank you in advance!

Mods Please Read This!

This is just out of curiosity, not hating or demanding anything
Is it really just a who cares lets not moderate this place? I go to Optimus 2X forums and there's the cleanest I've seen in a while (Since the G1/MyTouch 3G days at least), bunch of threads that get closed after they are obviously a duplicate. In the past 25 minutes I've read 2-3 different threads about "not being bale to receive texts on ICS" between that; Draw Something, Temple Run, kernel/ICS roms/ recommendations threads, I can go on and on. Just curious as to why our thread is not "taken care of"??? It would help all of the getting off topic posts, the hatred on this specific forum, the immaturity! If the thread gets closed or moved into a already made similar thread, the person wouldn't get flamed nor would there be so much scolding and making this sub-forum look like a bunch a jerks (myself included) cause we are kinda fed up seeing the same thing over and over...
Not so much demanding it obviously, just curious.
Thanks for reading this Mods, any input is appreciated from anyone especially if you agree, so I don't like a complaining prick, lol...

I agree, the g2x forums have become a boxing ring. Honestly, you can't say anything without a flame up your ass. It has changed me. I was never as hostile as this forum has made me. I had a guy that just told Doniqcc that he's blowing chunks because his rom is 403 not 404 call me the chump for calling him out. I'm gonna say it, I've been around XDA for almost 2 years. When the g2x first came out, there were a handful of a-holes. Then they disappeared for a year, now that CM9 is out, they're back. Then there's noobs that get promoted to beta testers and all of a sudden they are ruling EVERY THREAD. This here is talk, I've taken action and flame a certain someone every time they say something ignorant or blame the rom dev for their ignorance. It's kindergarten in our threads. Only we can clean up the mess. Have a weekly a-hole life banning. Even our devs are fighting, it's the climate in the threads. I don't have all the answers, nor do I claim to. I know one thing, something has to change. Thank you everyone, especially devs.

Cause I doubt it. I love this forum been here since I had the G1 in '08, just wish they would clean up and take care of our thread like they do over on the Optimus 2X...

Prime example of why i don't post any of my work here anymore. And why TeamKang posts their work elsewhere. Xda has gone way downhill as a whole and there are better more user friendly forums to base work from. The xda senior mods have already stated in other threads if your not a "recognized developer" they could care less about you or what you think.
Read through this and see what xda mods think of users.

im no dev nor do i pretend to be one. im a noob from cali who loves android and what it stands for. This forum does have the reputation for being harsh to the common folk but the same people getting put down have some to take some of the blame. I mean, someone posts "whats the best rom/kernel" when a thread was just made not 20 mins ago with some feedback. if that person had scrolled down the page one click he or she would have seen it and read all the suggestions. This does tire people out because this section is filled with dumb posts like these. i dont flame anyone nor do i put down people down but it gets annoying. I vote for mt3g to become a mod for the g2x forum. Lets make it happen.
I think the harshness is MOSTLY within reason. It does get a little out of hand but the main problem is that people just refuse to click through post after post to find an answer. I was a complete noob and I still am by many standards but everything I learned was from fishing and reading and reading again. Granted I learned the importance of that coming from a jailbroken and unlocked iPhone. But its still common sense in my opinion.

Totally agree, and you tend to find way less... er, noobs, at rootzwiki too.

Think the fame of xda has to do with that a bit.

People just need to learn to search and read... the more threads and forums you just read you start learning and picking up on stuff. Every forum you go in someone has an issue or a bug they think they just found and literally in most cases its a few posts above of the same issue and a fix over and over again. I remember the old days the win mobile days people actually read.. you didn't have this clutter and bloated threads of redundant non sense.. I'm not a dev by any means but I can see how annoying it must be for there rom thread to have 90 pages of which kernel and what they do better when they have there own thread for that very reason. Reading is fundamental people
