Badband update question - Verizon Droid Charge

I just had a question as to the best way to update the baeband radio to ed2. I am on build ee4 but never updated the radio. Can it be done with cwr or has to be Odin.

odin back to ed1 or ed2 complete roms, i.e. with baseband and accept the ota update to ee4
thats the only way to get the ee4 baseband

quick question

If I want to send my phone back and I am rooted with a kernel and a rom...how do I go back to being stock with no root?
I read through the threads...but is seem that there is only stock root files...
If you can post the link I appreciate it.
I'm thinking downgrade to a stock rooted ED1... then OTA update to EE4. I think you lose root by doing so.

Use either the leaked ED1 or ED2 odin packages that were released at the end of last week. It will put you on stock, unrooted ED1 or ED2, depending on which you flash.

at&t O.T.A update android 2.3.6 easy root does not work for the ota update.... use this method http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1340526....
use that method...... odin cwm with the recovery.tar and flash the super user.zip through cwm
Superoneclick doesn't work?

acs easy root does not work. i ran the root.bat it did its thing said you should have root i did not. i tried it 2 times no root. so i used the method i posted above
Seems much more simple to root when your at 2.3.5 (with stock recovery) then OTA update and you will keep root. I think it MIGHT work even if you have CWM but have not tested.
INope doesnt work if u have cwm i tested and so did a few others. But yes thats correct thats easier but i posted this for those who took the update and were not rooted
I'm rooted rite now...2.3.5. Will I lose my root if I update.. are can I even update while rooted? sorry..I'm still new to android

People are reporting that they didn't loose root when updating. However, not sure if they had stock recovery or not installed at the time. I didn't risk it and flashed back to stock then confirmed SuperOneClick did not work. Used the method described above and rooted.
Yes they had stock recovery. You cant take the ota unless you have stock recovery. And correct if you are rooted with stock recovery u will not loose root
Coming from Captivate and have had flashed HTC phones in the past, I kind of feel like anything Odin IS the easy method. It's like we had a OneClickMethod and a TwoClickMethod.
Correct odin is very easy if you read and follow all directions.
Link to stock recovery
Anybody have a link to the stock recovery for the skyrocket. I want to avoid having to flash completely back to stock before updating to 2.3.6.

Ok, maybe I am missing something here...
WHY are we going to the OTA update if many are reporting poor 4g performance after the update. I don't want my 4g to run slower just so I can say I have 2.3.6

My 4G speeds (pings, downloads, uploads) have improved since the OTA 2.3.6 update. Also, GPS finds and locks more satellites faster as well.

OK, total noob question
Since this is my first smartphone and I'm new to rooting/flashing ROMS/themes, I have a question about this: do I accept this OTA and then flash my current configuration afterward? Or should I ignore it, and if I do will VZW keep nagging me about it?
I'm running Humble 5.0 RC2, imoseyon 4 kernel, HumbleComb theme, and have backups from both the latest CWM and Titanium.
TIA for any advice.

You have to go back to stock using odin, use the the pit file and download the stock rom.
Once your back to stock you can update the phone OTA.
I went back to ED1 and got the update to EE4, but no EP4 yet

Personally I have a similar setup to yours and will not worry about the OTA. Custom roms built on it will be available soon enough, and what you have now will have mostly all the same fixes. And if you want radios I'm sure an odin flashable one will be along soon.
Is it EP4D or EP4P? If it's EP4P, why did Samsung release old code on their open source page?
Sent from my SCH-I510 using Tapatalk
Yeah Im gonna wait too. No reason to go through the hassle of back to stock to maybe receive and update when soon enough someone will have create something else.
Cool, thanks

You think they stop working on trying to improve things and fix bugs just because a build was submitted for OTA testing? If that were the case, we'd never get the OTA.

I'm not aware of a non-rooted stock KD1. I think people are trying to get one built for those that want stock Froyo.
Given that you're sending it in for a repair, I'd suggest installing the stock 2.3.6 (KJ6) as it's a Samsung official release. Once you get it back you can go back to KD1 with root.
Thank you.

Try this:
[ROM][CWM] T959VUVKD1 - Deodexed FIXED [6/9/2011]
Modems [KB5,KC1,KD1,KF1,KF2]
EDIT: You can unroot using SuperOneClick -- Though I have not tried it myself.
Here is another thread: Flashing back to KD1 with good information in it.

I didn't realize you could unroot with it. Good info; thanks
I don't think you can unroot ROMs that were made.pre-rooted by just using SOC. I tried it before on a ROM (can't remember which) and it failed.
EDIT: If you didn't flash that file for root and instead rooted it with SOC previously, you can still unroot it.
If someone could be so kind to upload a Odin Stock KD1 without root, it would help solve some of these Froyo questions

Hope this can help someone.

This link I posted above - [ROM][STOCK UVKD1 - FLASHABLE] T959VUVKD1 Zip File - is the same file and was taken off of the samfirmware.com website.
Samfirmware.com doesn't have the files on their site anymore. They are SamMobile.com now.

The only stock ODIN currently available for the SR is I727UCKJ2, which is 2.3.5. If you flash that the phone should OTA to 2.3.6 within a few days.
