I am looking for a B60K or higher series dock, but all the ones in the stores are only B50K.
If you have a DOCK with B60K or higher, where did you get it?
yeah, I too am interested in getting a B60K dock (here in the UK)
If anyone with one, that sees one available or receives one - can confirm the source location in this thread that would be really great..

Battery discharge rate(in idle) is slower than on older ones.
I got mine from Curreys website - they never had any in store but had the bundle online. Its a brilliant product!!!
B&H photo.. (because I waited for a nowinstock.com link that led to a site without tax in CA )
i got mine from amazon
So what now, B50 owners have inferior hardware and are SOL? I still don't get this....
My dock drains because it's charging my tablet. If my tablet is 50%, it shouldn't be too long before my dock is also at 50% and my tablet is at 100%. Then from here, the dock will continue to drain as it charges my tablet. Then as the dock is full depleted, the tablet will also start to deplete.
What's wrong with this?
Also, it should do the same if its in standby and the tablet needs charging. It's the same as if I were to put it on the charger. I honestly don't care how quick it depletes, I'm getting 14+ hours of use with both combined.
Got mine on amazon last week. from amazon, not an amazon merchant.

People are under the placebo effect of the new dock "lasting longer". I agree with everything you said about the dock having to constantly charge the tablet. It makes sense that it drains over 15%/hour when the Transformer is on and over 3%/hour idle. The battery on the dock doesn't last as long as the TF and some energy is lost from the transfer of electricity from dock to TF.

Could be. It is hard to know for sure. Which I why I want to test a B60 dock myself.
With the transformer and dock disconnected, transformer in standby, both batteries will last over a week. I call this long term standby. Discharge with tablet and dock disconnected is maybe 1-2% a day?
I also believe there is a function in the tablet, as well as the dock, to control when charging is stopped. This function is based around the dock's built in magnet and tablet standby switch, which is overridden to charge both devices when power is applied to the port.
I prefer the newer device versions (both tablet and dock) to go into long term standby when tablet closed on dock, exactly like when they are disconnected. If I wanted to charge something I could plug in a charger or open the tablet/dock to indicate I wanted the dock to charge the tablet. But, when closed it is better to extend battery life to maximum.
These are my opinions, and I am trying to learn.
Sent my dock for repairs, hopefully they will send me back a B6 ,instead of B5.
I got my B60K from TigerDirect in North Atlanta (Braselton). I bought my 32 GB TF one week and dock a week later. They have an advertised special on the dock right now for $149.00. They have GTabs, TF's, 7" and 10.1" Galaxy's, Zooms, Acer Iconias and a great selection of accessories for all of them... You can order online but I just walk in as I drive by there every week...
My B50 keyboard drains at around 1.5% an hour in stand-by with WiFi on. So are these B60 docks nuclear powered or something? No... B50 Docks and B60 Docks are probably the same.

lol, yes nuclear powered.
Just watched 3.5 hours worth of 720p videos, my dock drained 47%. Well within it's advertised battery life. Oh, I am running at 1.2ghz as well.
I guess I don't notice these standby issues (or "issues") because if I am going to leave the TF+dock untouhed for an extended amount of time, I turn it off. It only takes 30 secs to boot. Or sometimes I just switch wifi off with a widget I keep on my homescreen.
Seems many here did not understand the problem.
Heavy draining also occurs when the T/dock is shut off - and this is a hell of nonsense.
Draining in standby is much more as anyone would expect knowing how less T. is loosing in standby when not docked.
Problem is NOT the running time when T/Dock is switched on.

I think it is a smaller group that loves this feature. Because if you keep the tablet docked then there is no difference when your dock charges your tablet, and there is a benefit of prolonging standby. Only if you disconnect your tablet will you need it fully charged.
If Asus wants to support everyone both capabilities should be configurable.

just got a B70 dock from amazon. I have a B50 Tablet that seems to be working fine. How can I check to see if my dock is fine and not a problem dock with battery drain, etc? I notice that i can I type faster than the screen can register the words..is this normal?
can someone recommend what to check and how?
Also what is the best way to charge? dock the tablet and charge on the dock or remove tablet and charge both seperately?
as far as the dock goes, I don't think there's really an issue between what model has the battery drain issue as of today. If you're not rooted, and are able to receive the latest firmware update, that is supposed to fix the dock battery drain issue.
and as for charging. I normally charge them both separate when I can, unless of course I'm out and about and it's not possible. While charging the dock with the tablet connected, I find that my charger overheats very easily, and sometime's stops working for a little while.
thank you. how can i read how much power i have on my dock? is there a way to read the power like the tablet.
search for dual battery widget on market
also when you have the tablet docked if you open your notification tray it will say how much battery you have there

I have the infinity since three days now. I have the 64Gb version that came with the keyboard dock, it appeared the be a prime dock also.
Now after a couple of days it seems to have a few issues. First of all, automatic brightness is very buggy. Either it's way too dark, or way too bright. Also, moving from dark room to brighter room doesn't change brightness. I have to set it manually all the time.
Second and more important, i have trouble with the charging. when both tablet and dock are fully charged, and i use the tablet seperate for a while, the moment i plug it back into the dock it starts to charge through the docks battery. However it doesn't charge untill 100 percent, it stops charging at far example 78 percent, while i still have 30 percent remaining in the dock. No matter how much i take it out of the dock en plug it back in it wont charge anymore. Untill i restart the tablet and then it charges again.
Also when both tablet and dock are fully charged and i keep them docked, it starts using the tablets battery and not the dock's like it should be. So my dockremains at 100 percent while my tablet depletes.... very strange. I also have my old TF101 so i know how it should work.
Any body also having this strange behavior?
Will the charging is normal for safety measures it happend on my tf300 and prime as well, and believe it or not I returned them both and ordered an infinity

Same problems for me. I contacted Asus tech support regarding auto brightness today, they said it's the same with all Infinity tablets and no solution yet. Regarding charging bugs - I just noticed them today.
Also it's extremely annoying that while downloading something bigger tablet becomes almost totally unusable and unresponsive - I think that's I/O problem someone already mentioned in other threads.

Hi @all,
can someone confirm the following?
I get the feeling that the tf700 has some kind of secondary auto-brightness!
I've turned off the auto-brightness and set it to ~50%, IPS+ off.
When I switch from a browser with a blank page to the homescreen, I can see that the brightness gets adjusted a little in very small steps.
You can see it with the default wallpaper (the one with the tree on the hill)
Switching back to that blank page shows these adjustments too!

With regards to the dock, its designed to alternate. So it'll deplete a bit from the tablet, and then from the dock, and then from the tablet and so on until the dock is out. At least, that's how the Prime and TF300 were set up.

On my TF700, the dock is depleted first (I'm currently down to 15% (dock) and 72% (main). I have indeed heard before that previously the design was to let them deplete more or less evenly, but I'd wager they have changed that behavior to enable the tablet to be decoupled and have the best sht at having a full (or at least mostly charged) battery. I think that's a logical setup and I think I prefer it this way. With the risk of carrying this slightly off-topic: how were your experiences with the previous setup?

you're talking about previous setup. The TF700 is brand new? Which firmware do you have on your tablet. Mine is alternating, but i would much prefer the other way, which depletes the dock first. I'm running 9.4.5.21 and dock firmware 0207.
I don't own any other Asus tablets, so I have no idea what "the norm" is, but IMHO it makes much more sense to use the dock as the primary source of power (similar to plugging it into an A/C adaptor) first, and only switch to the tablet's battery when the dock's is depleted. This way if you use the tablet+dock for four hours and then take the tablet out of the dock to use independantly, it will still have a full charge.
The only thing I can think of as to a reason why it would try to use both simultaneously (albeit alternating), is if the tablet wasn't able to power the dock and the dock itself needed power for both itself and any accessories plugged into USB ports, etc. If that's the case, then if your dock ran out of juice, your tablet wouldn't be able to use it anymore, making the battery life only ~4-5 hours before you had to remove it.

I have the same firmware versions as you but it depletes my dock battery before tablet. Currently dock 43%, Tablet 80%. As I type this it changed to dock 43%, tablet 78% so I guess it doesn't exclusively deplete the dock first which makes sense too.

I heavily use my infinity with dock. I know that Li-Ion Batteries have degraded battery life every time you let them dissipate to 0%. Unfortunately that almost always happens when I use the dock (Tf201). Is there any way to stop the tablet from charging from the dock around like 5%? I want to keep my dock connected because I want to keep using the keyboard but I don' want to shorten the dock's battery life unnecessarily when my tablet is at 90%.
Is there an app or rom solution to this?

same problem here. my dock drains fast too i feel like its giving it too much power !
Same. Mine charges the tablet super fast, but the dock still works at 0%. I've only gotten it there one though.
Same here, I feel the dock is charging the tablet just a tad too much. When the dock's warning me about 0% battery left, the tablet itself is still at 80-90%. That can be useful if I wanted the dock to ONLY charge the tablet, but when I want to use the dock as well, it's far from ideal.
I'd like it if we had a setting for this, like one for pretty much just using the dock as a spare battery/charger, and one for maximum tablet AND dock battery life. I get that the dock's not much use without the tablet, but it feels unbalanced as it is now.

Because for Lithium-ion battery it is not good to have it discharged to 0%, this can reduce the battery life span.
Also another problem can be is when battery is a discharged state, its voltage will gradually decrease then the keyboard dock will no longer be charged any further because the protection circuit disables it (Although this usually applies when you are storing the battery at discharged state but its a good idea to keep this in mind).
Cheers
Actually, the dock battery is not fully depleted when it reaches the nominal zero % charge -- the internal electronics of modern batteries prevent them from depleting to harmful levels. (This has been referenced in the TF700 forums elsewhere, by the way, which a search probably would've shown.)
I think that the charge provided to the main tablet is coming from both the dock battery and the main tablet's battery at the same time; however, since the dock battery has a significantly lower capacity, it should not come as a surprise that it gets 'depleted' sooner.
From a usability or design point of view, I fully agree with you that it would have been nicer to see the dock deplete to about 40% 'resting charge' (which is reputed to be the optimal moment to connect the charger again ) an have the tablet's main kick in. The dock battery could then take over when the main battery reaches 40% charge left. That way we'd have best of both worlds: battery capacity is used optimally, and battery life would be optimal as well.
Alas, this is the real world. From a practical point of view: do not worry you are screwing up your battery, as you're not. Well, of course you are, but all batteries degrade when in use; that's a given -- but when our batteries finally die on us permanently and irreversibly, we'll have at least one other great 64-core 256 GB superduperHD 30" hypertablet available that makes you fresh coffee in the morning, irons your clothes and tells off door salesmen on its own. It will be so heavy it will need legs of its own, but then it also runs all Olympic sprinting distances at least an unbelievable 2.4 seconds faster than the then-current world records.

This ^^ is right, though -- if you wait long enough, even the protection circuitry will fail, and the natural voltage fall-off will kill your battery. If you put away a healthy Li-Ion battery in a fully charged state, this should take about four months at the least, but probably closer to eight months to a year.
I hope someone reads this and decides to create an app that exactly handles this problem. I feel bad when I always discharge to 0%. If this is not so harmful as I feel, I still I dont like it.
I think this is a mental thing for you all. No need for dock to keep a charge. Its designed to push the tablets life longer so you can detach it and keep going if you'd like and not leave any juice behind.

It's not quite as simple as that is it? If it was just an extended battery pack why have a keyboard, USB port and SD card reader included?
Okay, you only see it as an extended battery, not all of us does. Part of the reason why I chose the TF700 is because of the dock. Any portable device can get a portable battery pack to extend battery runtime, this one is a keyboard and port extender as well.
I don't see why we shouldn't be able to further control how the dock depletes its battery, it'd make it a lot more useful overall.

Then leave it attached, makes no difference. Add the numbers up to 200%.
If you have 80% battery, what difference does it make if its 0% and 80% or 40% and 40%? (I know battery sizes are different and percentages would be different).
Now overall battery is down to 80%, if you detach tablet with scenario 1, you have max battery left (80%) vs 1/2 of that (40%) if the dock had a charge remaining.
Why should the dock keep any charge? It still works with 0%.

because some of us do not want to let it waste charge when the tablet is already near full. (save some charge for later). we dont want to recharge it just because it gave too much power to the tablet at an uncessary time. i bet alot of people dont want it to charge the tablet to 100% from 99 everytime u turn the screen on lol , it would just make life better with the tablet + dock if we could control when it does charge during sleep ,ect
I'm trying to understand what the problem is here... What good does it do for the dock to keep a charge? You can't use the dock without the tablet and as long as the tablet is connected, the dock will work, even if it reports a 0% charge. So what good would it do to keep, let's say, the dock at a minimum of 10%? That 10% would be completely "wasted", right?
Or am I misunderstanding the issue?

I was under the impression that the dock will eventually "power off" and you won't be able to make use of the keyboard, USB port and SD card reader once its battery is depleted. However, if they're still fully functional as long as the tablet is connected, I don't really mind the current way it's done.
Surely the dock requires some power to operate though, and unless it gets that power from its own battery, the tablet will have to power it. It's this "obfuscation" of actual battery capacity and use I find slightly annoying.
After reading this thread and after some thinking i can dig both camps
On one hand, we are concerned about a battery lifespan, and as it is well known that batteries should not deplete to 0%, i can dig those who want to control that. But, there is also a mention that the battery doesn't really go down to 0% and it somehow controls that automatically.
So, no worries on this side.
The other "problem" - which i think is more important, at least to me - is that some of us feel that it is completely unnecessary for the dock to charge the tablet if the later has 99% of battery. I would also like to have some kind of control over this.
Both 100% - i want to use only tablet battery. And i will use it until it drops to about 30-40%. Than i would like the dock to kick in and refill my tablet. Probably right in the middle of my other work when i actually don't use a tablet (faster refill as i am not using it). Well, after it reaches 90%+, please docky dock, get out of the way and wait for your next turn. Maybe i'll refill you, too
So yeah, there is actually NO problem at all, only different use cases. I bet every single one of use has a little bit different usage pattern and with an app to customize these things, we could and should all be happy.
Anyone, anyone? I would like to beta test it

The issue is that Li-ion batteries lose max harge every time they are depleted. You do not want to constantly cycle your battery because of this. The dirty solution is to stop using your dock before this happens but i use my infinity for work and this is not an option.
Sadly after only about a month of use my dock maxes out at only 98% now after being forced to completely dicharge it while working. At this rate, I will lose almost a quarter of the dock's charge in a year. Thats completely unacceptable. For such an expensive device.

Ok i bought this gt n8013 with 4.1.1 and i love it all except for one very horrible thing. It charges so slow its driving me insane. I am sorry if there might be a post about this already but i searched and didnt see any. Is there a way to make it charge faster like buying a faster output charger or something? A setting? I mean wow i could grow old before this thing charges.
How slow is slow? This thing has a pretty big battery so it's going to take a while. From 20% about 5 hours is about normal.
The speed at which it will charge is governed by the device, not the charger, assuming you're using a powerful enough charger. IOW it will take about 2 amps. Even if you try a 5 amp charger, it will still only take 2 amps.
This of course is all assuming that you're using the charger and cable that came with it. That's very important.
Yea im using stock charger. It took around 7 hours to charge and compared to asus that is super slow. Asus tf300 charged in an hour and a half while browsing the web on it. Not that im an asus fanboy cause im not. They really screwed the pooch on that device with the nand and the ram but they got the charging right. Turn it off and its even faster. Now i understand slow charging keeps battery life longer but i honestly would rather pay for a new battery in a year than keep one tetheted to a cord for 2 years.
Is that with or without the dock?

No dock though if it makes it charge faster ill buy one lol. Or whatever would do the trick. I actually use this pretty well all day long about 5 to 6 days a week very very heavy. I use it for everthing. I have a few dell xt3, a dell xps i7 with 3gb gpu, 2 dell desktops and a host of other laptops ect, but the new tablets have moved into a zone that is powerful enough for me to bother with now. They, with the usb adapter and external drives ect have changed the way i do business. At any rate i in general use a tablet about 9-15 hours a day so charging as you can imagine is important. I would like very much to make this my go to device even if i have to figure out how to purchace a second battery and configure some sort of charging dock or external battery or in the best case scenario make it charge fast fast fast lol.
I was actually asking if you had the dock for the TF300.

Yea i had the dock with tf300. It actually took a few hours to charge it seperate. Took longer than the tablet itself, go figure.
i did a search on google and got a bunch of people asking the same thing and some members on here went on a rant about something different, did i search on this forum and still no dice, so according to the intro video im a dumbass and should ask the android gods for help.
i bought a tf201 dock for my infinity, other threads say its the same shizz so i bought one and have been using it for over a week. at first i noticed that the battery would drain completely over night, i went into the settings and ticked the mobile dock saver on and off as others pointed out. im still having issues where i will watch maybe a movie off the sd card, browse online for an hour or two, and when i get home the dock is drained but the tablet is at half charge. i have used the tablet alone and it holds its charge all day, so is there any other tips or tricks i can use to find my culprit? also im used to iOS so my android-fu isnt so strong. if anything im considering exchanging it at bestbuy for a tf700 dock which ive heard is the same thang.
I just bought what was supposed to be the TF700 mobile dock from bestbuy but I think I got the TF201 one. Anyway, I've had it for 2 days now, first night it got totally drained but i suspected that it was because I forgot to turn off the wifi during sleep thing but now today, I connected it again and it has been drained from 100% to 15% in 3 hours!?
Worth to know though is that m tablet has been charted from ˜15% to 50% for this, but even so, charging m tablet for 35%, should that really suck that much battery power? That would mean that I used 50% of total battery in 3 hours, is that even possible?

It should add 4 to 5 hours to your battery life I think.

yeah the docks are identical according to these guys

ive also been reading that theres an actual tf700 dock that does have the battery shifted but i have seen no proof. anyways i guess il just go exchange my dock at bestbuy.
oh and if someone can tell me which app i can use to have my tablet+keyboard stay charged while its closed that would be great, cause if i close the lid and wait for an hour the tablet goes down about 7% and the keyboard switches on to charge it, so its constantly using juice to do something but what? i dont know....
I suggest you read all the other various Battery-related threads as opposed to making yet another one. I have made enough suggestions regarding this in those.
For starts, these:

Also, the dock starts charging your tablet when the tablet gets below 70%. There is no way around this.
The TF700 has a smaller battery with less charge. Again, there is a thread about this. Several, actually.

My tablet+TF201 dock has been on without charging from the electricity net for literally 3 weeks, and my tablet is at 85%, and my dock at 71%. It's not the tab itself, it's something you're doing or not doing.
