Agreed. I love this site, just been getting frustrated not being able to ask devs or the com. Questions about the Roms. So decided to get to it.

Welcome, I have been a lurker for 4 years! This is a fantastic site, and the devs are great! Make sure to say thanks to them! I don't know how they find the time to put in all the effort, but I am glad they do!
Rob

I lurk for the most part also. Guess because I learn more reading than I can contribute at this point. Things will change in time as when I had my droid x I could help a little more.

There's too much pleasentness in this thread. Quick, someone ask for a Cyanogenmod ETA.

What's the eta for a working cm7 on thunderbolt?
actually running the build from a couple days ago without much trouble... Other than the weird gps thing I keep hitting (after a period of time my phone decides its in angola) seems like good build

Welcome Ca5p3r to xdadevelopers! : )
Hello Ca5p3r,
Welcome aboard to xda except 2 lose many hours of sleep from reading the forums, flashing ur new radio, keranls, theme etc. There are a few good forums this is one of my favorites and I come here always first. You will find most people are here to help each other. You will always have the flamers of course just jump on and hang on and prepare to lose sleep.....
Fellow crack flasher,,, lol
Cheers,

So how long will it take to get CM7 nightly?

I'm not pushing, I know CM devs are working hard on this, so I'm just looking for general opinions, now that we have kernel source, how long do you think it will take before we get Cyanogenmod 7 nightlies? My wild guess is within two weeks.
Sent from my Thunderbolt using Tapatalk
Im sorry, but i doubt you get any answer except for snarky jackassery. Just don't ask and be patient about it. Since the kernel is out it will be sooner rather than later.
I am just as anxious as the next guy... have been looking forward to running CM7 since I got my paws on my TB
We all know the first rule is "Never ask for an ETA"
CM7 is being worked on by skilled devs. Slayher has completed the majority of the porting. Cyanogen himself helped with some graphics stuff (IIRC).
Now that HTC released the kernel work is being done to get wifi, bluetooth, etc. working properly. I am not 100% sure, but I think the last piece we are waiting on is the actual radio functionality.
You can build CM right now from source and flash it to your device... you will just be left without any data/phone functionality. Last I heard, birdman was also working on getting the radio to work.
This may be more complex than normal due to the LTE/CDMA dual-radio.

Lighten up. The OP isn't demanding an exact ETA. We know Steve's number one rule is not to ask for an ETA, but he's not asking Steve or any of team douche. He just want to know when you think one will turn up. I say about a month.

I appreciate everyones response. I knew I was opening a can of worms by starting this thread, which is why I clarified in the OP that I was only asking others opinions, not for an eta from the development team. Sorry if thats how it was perceived.

They are working on RIL development now... who knows if there will be any unexpected hurdles. It has already been stated that it will be more difficult than standard radio stuff...

Htc evo 4g temp root for OTA Gingerbread Achieved !!!!!

Well Well now who's the little blood sucker's now? I posted a few questions about two days ago and was bashed buy a bunch of little 13yr old and even seniors member's on here. I was sat back and got a huge kick out of it. Anyways as always I work alone away from most of the FREAKS on here. YOU KNOW WHO YOU ARE!!!!!
Anyways after many hours working trying to get temp root on the new Gingerbread 2.3.3 OTA Update! I was successful in creating a working Temp Root!
This was done with the help of a very good friend that wishes to remain anonymous. I also seen many people are giving away a reward for the person who figures a way to gain root on the device. My response to that is keep your damn money I don't want it and my friend don't either. So if you all are thinking this is a way to retain the award your WRONG you little maggot!
We don't want anyone's money let alone your's. The temp root works and is very easy to achieve! I will be posting the guide in about 35-45 mins for other's to achieve this temp root on the HTC EVO 4G!!!!
For them little pricks that sit on their asses and wait for a Root and don't even give to the xda community but will leech and whine about everything make me sick. I'm so tempting to not even post the guide and let you pitiful bastards suffer and burn in hell and be miserable while I enjoy my new Rooted Device. Then my friend said what about the ones that have spent countless hours for the love of the EVO. That's what changed my mind so what now?
It's 7:25 my time and I'm going to begin this simple guide for those who deserve this root. It should only take me 30-45 mins to explain how to gain Temp Root on your HTC EVO 4g with the New OTA Gingerbread Update with S-On........
Congrats if you got it. Look forward to reading everyone's BS in the new thread!
I still have my launch day evo so it wont really help me at the moment.
I hope you just edit this thread to the instructions or put on your flame suit again.
if you really did acheive temp root, mad props bro...

I say don't post the instructions. Let the flame suit distributors figure it out for themselves. Older evo here, so I could care less, but good work.
Are you able to flash a custom recovery via rom manager?

Thank you for the effort. Some might read this and feel that you are coming off as a jerk, but I am sure you are just very excited. I am sure that like me and the countless others that check in multiple times per day, seeing all the awesome regularly updated ROMs, all you want to do is get the most out of your Evo. Congrats to you and thank you for sharing.
There will always be haters and nay-sayers no matter what the issue. Shake em off! Great job on your success. I am in need of this so I will be following this thread very closely. My rooted Evo had to be replaced and this new one has 2.3 on it sucks being unrooted ugh. Great job again.

Ya talked me into it...

So, a few days ago I saw several things that got me REALLY pissed off... Well, after several heart filled PMs from you guys, I realize how important I am, or some feel, to this community. I have reposted most of my work (still waiting on update download links for Lightning Zap).
To those of you who have kanged not just me, but everyone else, at least give us the credit that everyone here deserves for their hard work. It's pretty lame that YOU would take someone elses hard work and pass it off on another website as your own. I don't care if the website/forum you are using is in a different language other than English. I can still figure out what you are saying. I have registered for some of those sites, and you can bet your ass that I will be seeking recourse!
To FB, I apologize for jumping to conclusions on your Gummy build. I will be on IRC this evening so you can get me setup with what I need, and I will HAPPILY, take over what you started for us.
To everyone on XDA that supports me and all the other Devs, I apologize to you the most. If at any other time I choose to leave, I will give everyone fair notice and an oppurtunity to take over where I have left off.
To Erik, my team mate and friend, thanks for talking my down and getting some sense back into my head.
To my wife, thanks for listening and backing up Erik...lol
I, for one, am happy to hear that your staying...
Holy ****, when did this happen!? Dude, thomas! Some of you're stuff is effin' genius! You're doing the right thing, seeking "recourse". That's pretty sorry that someone is hijacking your stuff. +1 for being glad you didn't run off. GR has repeatedly saved my ass!
Is it bad that I actually shed a tear when you left!? I'm so happy you back to finish the gummy rom and thank you for coming back thomas you just made my week from **** to AAAAAHHHHHMMMMAAAZZINNNGGGG!
It's great you're staying. I have always used GR and been really grateful for that. So, keep the good work rolling out.
BTW thomas, just for curiosity... is it possible to make a GR but instead of KG4 a ROM that can be used to directly flash CM9? TIA.
Welcome back bro. This place is like Hotel California. lol

Wow! Have i got the warm and fuzzies right now or what! Comments like this, and guys like you all, really make this worht while. All of you always thank the Devs, but I think it is time, at least for this guy, to thank you for all of your support.
For the record, CM7/CM9 gremlin remover is in the works. I'm having a little difficulty pulling the dump, but it is in the works. In addition to that, I'm working on an ICS based Lightning Zap that will blow away the tweaks we currently have.
And if that isn't enough, I have received some information from a user named chastity that has inspired an addittion to GR concerning battery life, stability, and performance on CM7/CM9...
What the hell did I miss!....
Never mind,I don't want to know.....however I am glad you changed your mind....and are back.

I bought my Thunderbolt the week it was released, and for me, Team Liquid has been its saving grace. If it wasn't for the seamless fluidity of Liquid Smooth 3.2 (and now Liquid ICS), I would have shattered this thing with a hammer long ago.
I know everyone is excited about ICS (as we should all be) but I'd like to give a shout out of thanks to Workshed , developer of Thundershed 1.6, which has been super stable, super smooth, and provided me with way better battery life.
