Hey guys so what happened was that I was trying to root my phone through Gingerbread and Odin (as my infuse is Rogers). But I forgot to put in a SD card so now my phone is stuck in reboot loop! I have tried everything you guys have mentioned online! I cleared the user data but no avail. I inserted a SD card, even put on the SGHI997 rom, inserted the folders voodoo and disable-lagfix and still didnt work. I tried unbricking it via GTG but instead my rogers is gone and now I have AT&T and still in a loop! HELP!
Did you look at this post to see if it helps.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1205381
yup i did. It was the GTG process i mentioned that i tired before. the bootlooping has stopped but know is stuck on the samsung screen :S i left at the screen for 30 mins now still nothing. i cant even enter recovery mode anymore
u can not get into download mode??
yeah i still can
Were you able Odin back to stock?
not really, these are the results of odin:
GTG odin process: stuck at samsung screen. Cannot enter recovery mode.
Gingerbread process: goes to clockwordmod recovery (red txt). I wipe sd, wipe data/factory reset, enters bootloop. However can enter recovery mode.
Rogers stock: goes to andriod recovery mode (blue txt). I wipe sd, wipe data/factory reset, enters bootloop. However can enter recovery mode.
so no phone does not go back normal functioning self

From recovery you should be able to get to download.
Try this link with the option to get root & 3e recovery.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1092021
It sounds like you do not have modified 3e installed so it will check for sig?
from there if you install packages 2X you can get to CWM and flash what you will.....
EDIT: Sorry, I see you are able to get to CWM
can you not put a new rom on the SD and flash it? Or start over again with a fresh stock in case there was a glitch in the first install?
I am in the same situation and have the same problem too, i"ve looked lots of post and tried different method,,
even GTG's method it still in boot loop!!!!T^T
can anyone help

Hey when you say rom is assume you mean pda kernal files that come with odin and such? Then those would be PDA_ROGERS_UXKG3.tar.md5, PDA_Infuse_Gingerbread.tar.md5, the files the come in GTG unbrick.
I have also did repartion, but it did nothing.
I you mean rom by the SGHI997 rom i tried that too
Edit: Okay so I have been searching online and discovered you need put the room onto the internal sd card. But i dont see how i can do that considering my phone goes to recovery mode straight away

I'd like to bring the UnBrickable mod to this platform which will allow us to flash bootloaders to UnBrickably modded devices.. and seriously mod the crap out of the firmware... If you decide to turn it in for repair, consider PMing me so I can do some reverse engineering on it and then you can turn it in for not being able to turn on
Your device likey requires a PIT flash just so you know.

In CWM (red) under "mounts and Storage, select "Mount USB". Of course you are connect to your computer when you do this and in windows an external drive should become available. Place the zip file on the root of that drive.
Once copied, disconnect from windows first then unmout in CWM. from here you can go directly to and install from zip.
Hope that makes sense.

hey i tired what you said. i did a few times nothing came. then on my 4th try the driver showed up on my computer but it said 'please insert drive.' i reset and tried again the drive didnt show up
Remove the sim card and try again. Also, you can always copy a rom to an sdcard and install that in your Infuse.
Cranky...
hey i tried what you said but same result. i cant put on rom on because they mass storage does not show on my pc :S after the odd time of resetting and entering recovery mode, it connects but it says 'insert drive'
follow this link,, i recoverd my infuse 4G using this rom!!!!!!!

yes try a pit flash with repartition selected, it might fix it. theses types of bricks have been rare on the infuse and many people dont have experience with them. the available pit is packaged with the att ultimate unbrick but you should probably use it with the rogers odin firmware.

Sorry it took so long. I'll try to get in touch with GTG to make sure that his unbrick threads are more clear as to which device they are appropriate for.
UCKD5/E3 unbricks will only work on AT&T Infuses
UXKG3 will only work on Rogers Infuses
Custom Gingerbread ROMs will work on both, but there are no Odin-flashable packages for these.
My phone feezes instantly when i try to make calls, and when i recieve calls it rings but as soon as i answer it freezes. only way to unfreeze is to battery pull. Whenever i press the power button to unlock my phone, the screen takes 5-10 seconds to actually turn on to be able to unlock it. Every Time!
More importantly, i have tried to odin back to stock many times with no luck.
I am also unable to flash to any other roms - upon flashing ANY rom i get stuck at samsung logo indefinitely. I also get stuck when i try to odin anything other than UCKD5 stock, like it gets stuck when trying to odin to GB stock. I am able to flash community kernel without getting stuck tho.
Any ideas?
EDIT: i also have tried formatting both SD cards
EDIT2: i used Kies to update firmware to UCLB3, this fixed the unlock issue, but whenever i make calls i cannot hear the other person and they cannot hear me. Still unable to flash ROMS

From what you are describing, I suspect you have have some sort of partition corruption.
You may want to look for any voodoo files and folders on your /sdcard.
Delete them all.
Back up whatever files you want.
Power down.
Take out the microSD for now.
Use the heimdall uclb3 I put together. Alternatively, you can use odin to flash one of the later gb leak like uclb3...but you also need the PIT file and you will need to repartition on the odin interface. If you are unsure, use the heimdall I put together.
Put your phone into DL mode and flash the heimdall or odin.
On the heimdall, if the flash was successful, you will need to check the boot loader box, put your phone back into DL mode and flash it again.
To get cwm recovery, follow the second post in the uclb3 heimdall thread.

I tried Heimdall, it failed at recovery one time and then modem the next. Once it went all the way through without failing, my phone booted into recovery after the flash, and now i am only able to boot into recovery. Odin is now unable to see my device now.
did i do something wrong? :O

download mode again and flash the heimdall again with boot loader checked.
if you cant check the boot loader box, you have to start over with 2 heimdall flash...check the op
odin uses different driver..use a diff usb port

Okay i Heimdall flashed without bootloader then again with bootloader and it booted properly (thanks!!). Then powered off and went into download mode and flashed ENTROPY512's 2.2.2012 kernel for CWM and allowed it to boot. Then i powered off again and three fingered into CWM (three finger boot took about 5minutes if thats important), wiped data/cache/dalvik and formatted system/data/cache and flashed my desired ROM (miui 2.2.4) and nowww it is sitting at samsung logo and has been for 10 minutes and im scared to touch it lol
have u tried change another recovery like clockwork mod from odin and flash roms
Well i have been trying Clockwork mod (CWM)
you mean different versions of that?
yup Another version, or any other type
yeah ive tried 3 versions :/
return to stock
ok if thats did not help
return back to stock
by this step u will not need to odin or cwm
thats stock by java
the stock called "Stock_SGH_I997_UCLB3_Repartition-One-Click.jar"
Yes i have already used Heimdall to return to UCLB3... many times.. lol

MIUI needs to be flashed twice in recovery to stick..same with cm7/cm9 - (unless you know how to flash just the kernel first - don't worry about this last part) - just boot back into cwm and flash again
haha i already tried starting over, im at the first heimdall flash again. but ill do that once i go through it all and let you know what happends, THanks again

The first boot up is always the longest after a stock reset. Usually 5 minutes.
Repeat boot up should only be 2 minutes - providing you did not wipe any cache or data.
If you had a lot of pics and music or files in your external sd card, the boot up will be longer.
To test this, take out your ext sd card.
boot into cwm.
factory reset. wipe system/data/cache.
Download mode and flash heimdall again...Since you had the bootloader already from the last time, you don't need a bl flash this time.
The first ATT boot up should take 5-7 minutes.
Repeat boot up should only be 2 minutes-3 minutes.
If it is longer, you may have some hardware issues.
Once you start to add things or ext-sd and noted increase boot time, you will narrow down the culprit

Sent from my SGH-I997 using xda premium
- I am running Android 2.3.6. I flashed the UCLB3 via Heimdall. I have GB bootloaders from Heimdall
- I have the bootloaders from Samsung Kies Mini
- I have USB Debugging on, but when I connect to the computer it says “USB Connected” rather than “USB debugging connected.”
- I try rooting through Odin using jscott's tar.md5 files in the PDA window, but the window does not turn yellow (indicating the phone is not recognized) and after the process the Gingerbread setup greets me, but I do not have Superuser.
- SuperOneClick just freezes up when I try to root.
- I've tried to use the modified 3e recovery via replacing the “recovery” file in /system/bin but there is no recovery file there and the paste “fails” due to lack of superuser access, I presume.
- Basically, I'm stuck and unable to root or flash anything that has SuperUser unless I can either get Odin to recognize my device or find another way that does.
When I first got the phone it was on froyo. I stupidly tried to flash an ICS ROM (Dark Knight) because I assumed it was on GB. I successfully rooted using SuperOneClick and flashed CWM recovery, but got the rainbow distortion from lack of GB bootloaders. I then proceeded to flash the UCLB3 via Heimdall and got my phone working again, but with ranbow distortion on boot and in recovery mode (rendering the CWM recovery useless as it would not respond with the rainbow distortion. I then re-flashed UCLB3 using Heimdall and checked the “GB bootloaders” box this time, which got rid of the distortion. But now I'm stuck and unable to root or flash anything because Odin won't recognize my device (it says it's there but the window does not turn yellow) and no other methods give me SuperUser. Kies Mini recognizes my device and says there are no updates, so it's not the cord. However, Kies regular does not. I think it's something to do with USB debugging not working properly and allowing Odin to recognize the phone so it can root it.

Thanks for quick reply and it worked!
I flashed a rom (Dark Knight) but every time I reboot, it goes straight to recovery. Do I need to change some settings or what? No matter how many times I flash it, the phone boots straight to CWM Recovery. What did I do wrong? What should I do now? I think I'm just stuck in a boot loop but I don't want to restore to stock and try again because I'll probably just keep making the same mistake. Instead I'd rather wait for someone to tell me why that flash didn't work and what I should do to make it work. Ive done work on a few other (newer) phones and I've never had this happen.

Read the OPs.
You need to flash CM9 twice, with a wipe in between.
If you accidentally did a reboot to recovery and suck in a loop, use the GB kernel flash in heimdall, wipe. Download mode, flash the Jt kernel and try again

I read the instructions and i didn't see it say to wipe in between flashes, just to reboot recovery. I do follow directions you know but can't follow directions that aren't written in the spot I'm reading them and assuming them to be right. But thank you for telling me what I should havedone. So once I have jt kernel, I just flash, wipe, reboot recovery, and flash again?
I did the UCLB3 Repartition One Click and then wiped everything. Then I flashed JT's kernel and flashed the ROM. Before I could do anything else, it started on its own and everything is fine now. THanks for your help, I'm still a little confused but you pointed me in the right direction. Thanks will be given.

Glad it worked for you.
While in cwm recovery, re-boot into recovery means powering off and then turn back on with 3 finger salute.
Selecting "Reboot Recovery" may not work and may send a user into a loop recovery image.
I've found from experience that flashing a different kernel with different cwm version may erase that loop and let you start over.
As you have discovered what I've been saying along and if you read the ops on the heimdall thread, you will understand that rooting the official firmware is pointless if you are planning on flashing a custom firmware.
Root it only to run it with root permissions.
Flashing in download mode does not require root. Just flash the kernel with cwm recovery.
have fun
I unlocked and rooted my tablet yesterday and everything appeared to be working fine. After using it for a couple hours and restarting it a few times it stopped working and is now locked in a boot loop. When I try boot the tablet it comes on and gets to the animation where the glint of light goes across the Asus logo but it does not finish and instead it stops there and I get the moving circles at the bottom. I've left it running there for several hours and it just hangs.
I've tried erasing the data and booting to linux but the same thing happens when I try either of those.
I've also tried flashing a number of different ROMs, but all that happens is it starts installing and then I get the Android guy on his side error screen.
I hadn't done anything to the ROM and was still running 10.6.1.14.4. I even downloaded that same ROM from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2266519 but I get the same error message when I try flash that ROM.
I would really, REALLY appreciate any ideas at all - and thanks in advance for any suggestions.

this gonna sound odd but i had exact same prob when i rooted and flashed chromix rom. it went. what i did was flash it once with the rom with secure wipe, then i flashed again. and it got stuck at optimizing apps, then i tried reflashing couldnt get it to boot, what i ended up doing was using clockwork mod to factory reset my tablet, then had to restart, and reflash, this time it actually got to main screen. dont let it discharge/reboot for awhile as im bout to post a issue im having with it. but thats what i did to make it work for me.

Did you flash the correct bootloader? I had the same problem, look for my posts in the last few pages of ChromiX.

Seems to me you installed Asus factory stock rom JB 4.2.1 (10.6.1.14.4), which means you have the latest bootloader, then you unlocked and rooted your device, however, you never installed any custom recovery like TWRP or CWM (clockmod). Now your device is boot looping. You need to boot into stock recovery by turn off your device, hold volume down and power button until you see white text on the screen, now release both buttons, you should see 3 icons (RCK, Android and wipe data). NOW you are in fastboot mode. Let me know at least you can get that far, before we continue....

Give this a try, the factory Asus firmware zip file that you downloaded, unzip the file, you should see another zip file, rename this new zip file to "EP201_768_SDUPDATE.zip" (without quotation), then copy it to the root of your sdcard then boot into stock recovery and execute the RCK again. Make sure you don't have any other zips laying around in the root of your sdcard.
You are truly a god among men.

Make sure you don't have any other zips laying around in the root of your sdcard.

THIS WORKED!!! Thanks so much. I was really worried I had bricked it.
So now one last question --- WHY did that work? Is there somewhere I could go to read up on this kind of stuff? I've tried surfing the XDA forum but there's a lot of stuff like this where someone gets there problem solved, but not much explaining why something worked so I can learn more about it.

Somehow the stock recovery was reinstalled on your tablet, thus letting this method work. It however does not on CWM or TWRP. All you did was manually reinstall a stock rom back onto your tablet. How it got the stock recovery is beyond me unless you flashed a stock ROM from CWM and didnt realize what you were installing.

Since the JB 4.2.1 upgrade, this is the most reliable method to install Asus full stock firmware. Also, since you're unlocked, let root the device by go here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2230763 download the tool and root it. Once rooted, I suggest that you should install TWRP custom recovery, by download Goomanager from the market, open the app and tab on the 3 little boxes on the top right hand corner, select "install recovery scripts" , this will shutdown your device and install custom TWRP recovery script, once this installed, you can download "rebooter" from the market and this app has many options, one of them is allowed you easily boot into custom recovery.
Hi,
I have been following XDA since two years and this is the first time i am having to post something due to lack of a relevant thread.
My fastboot nightmare started a month ago, when i had tried to back up my ROM using ROM manager. I tried but failed to use the KDZ update since my phone would not get detected. I flashed a stock firmware using LGMDP to regain functionality of the phone.
On rerooting my phone this time, i think the CWM recovery was not installed properly. My phone used to hard reset every time I tried to reboot into recovery. I used LGMDP again to flash another image of CWM, which got it into the recovery mode but i cant seem to go beyond the main menu. Whenever i select an option on the menu, the screen goes blank, showing only the CWM logo in the background and does not go any further. I cant restart my phone through the menu either, and have to remove my battery and replace it to be able to exit the recovery menu in the first place. Also, my recovery mode shows "E:Bad boot message "recovery" " at the bottom of the screen, which i think used to come before the nightmare too, but i'm not really sure.
Even on updating the recovery through ROM manager, it takes time to flash but is never completed. I get the message saying "An error while flashing your recovery" and that's all.
Please help me out here. After a year of ICS and subsequently JB, i'm having to use GB with no workably way around so you can imagine my frustration.
What do i do?
P.S.:- as i post here, it just clicked me if i should try flashing a different recovery img file through LGMDP. I will let you know if that works. Till then, any and all replies are appreciated.
Alright, my work is done. Flashed AmonRa this time manually using the terminal emulator. I found the solution at:- http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1146566
Thx anyways, guyz...
