Voodoo control plus? - Verizon Droid Charge

I am using this app on my rooted charge and I just purchased the paid version. I am curious why I have to go into this app and reset the headphone amplifier to the =5db every time the phone restarts. From the screen shots for the paid version in the app store it looked like I could have it force on at bootup but maybe I am crazy? Is anyone else having this issue with voodoo control for the sound volume? So basically as I see it the paid version gives you a headset bass boost and thats pretty much it. Am I missing something?

This probably doesn't answer your question (total guess), but if you hit the menu button while in VooDoo Control Plus, you can select "kernal module options". In that menu you can select "Load sound driver" and "Load driver at boot". I haven't tried these settings because I have no idea what they do and don't want to screw anything up. I got the app because I wanted to increase the headphone volume and am overwhelmed by the app. I don't know what pretty much all of the settings do and I can't find any tutorials or help menus anywhere!

Volume problems ... again ...

JB 4.2.1
Has anyone got either Volume+ or equilizer to work on the latest version of JB?
I can't get any joy from either. I used to be able to ramp up the sliders on equilizer which gave a boost but now there's no difference. A little clue to the fact that something is happening is that in equilizer if I choose the drop down for slider quick settings when I choose maximum I get a momentary volume increase. Momentary being about 1/4 sec.
I'd be interested if anyone has had any luck with either app and if so can you give any details on how you got it to work?

I use Beats. It seems to work for me.
I used to use equalizer but switched to dsp manager a while back which works fine.....
Let me reinstall equalizer to see if it still works.
Are we talking head phones or tab speakers here btw?
EDIT: Well I just tried equalizer and it worked brilliantly! :good: So it is something with you setup. You have enabled it from settings, sound, music effect haven't you?

Yes, music effects has been toggled to equilizer. Hmm, that's interesting - I presume you are on 4.2.1?
Something is obviously overriding it as the quick blip of extra volume I get when using the pull down and setting max sliders. I have set the sounds to play a ding when I do anything so I hear a quick ding in the louder volume then it goes back to original level.
Also I notice you are not on the stock rom so that may have something to do with it.
Not sure what might be causing it. Anyone else can confirm either this works or they experience the same thing?

beats? I'll try that - presume the it's an app called that.
No I'm not on stock But very similar.
There is a noticable increase in volume using equalizer. I'm sure there is a free demo version on the play store for you to try.

Yes I've tried this and what I notice is the opposite. When the sliders are reset to the middle the sound is normal (ie. same as without equilizer loaded) but louder than if I set the sliders to maximum.
As I say when I toggle to maximum there is a quick and much louder momentary sound increase which lasts a fraction of a second before going down to the lower volume.
I'm not sure what to look at as being the problem as there isn't much I have loaded that I can see might affect this. Very strange.
Still I'd be interested in anyone that can confirm a working instance with stock rom.
Edit: I have now tried a number of other equilizers and get the same behaviour so it appears something is resisting any change in settings.

I'm currently running Cromi 4.6.9 but have had this same problem on earlier Cromi versions too, actually for most of this year it seems. Which coincides with this thread saying the 4.2.1 update caused it for many people on various Nexus devices, which is referenced in Equalizer's app description on Google Play.
Equalizer always worked great for me until around then, and I've tried many things like uninstall/reinstall, other boosters including DSP Manager, even did full wipes during this period, but the volume just doesn't boost anymore. I use PowerAmp, and its built-in equalizer boosts the volume just as loud as Equalizer app used to do, which shows it's still possible but only within that app. Btw, I used PowerAmp in the past when Equalizer also worked fine, so I don't think it creates a conflict.
After seeing the above thread, I tested Equalizer on my Nexus 4 phone, which normally needs no volume boosting, with the same result - for a split-second it's louder but then goes to a slightly lower level than you started at, just as on my TF700. To me this indicates it would work correctly, but something else that wasn't there before now dampens it almost immediately.
@sdbags:
If for you it's apparently working correctly with same ROM as me on a TF700, can you think of why it's not for others? Also thanks for your fine work!

SOLVED control Google Music with headset? stock samsung headset?

Using the stock provided Samsung headset (volume up & down & single control button) has anyone found a hack or mod or app that gives you control of Google Music (next, skip, previous, pause, etc) it seems all it can control is volume (which us just the system volume) but no ability to control anything else.
Any insight?
Top button is volume. Bottom button if pressed once will pause music. If you do a quick double tap on the sides of this button will skip tracks forwards or backwards. Holding down this button will bring up voice search via google search/s-voice. Seems to be everything that works in google play music for me currently.
OEM headphones work the same with Google Music like any other app just like stated above. My Beats Mixr act the same also. Wish there was a previous track button though for either of them!

This does not work for me. The Samsung earphones, stock ones that came with the phone, do not control Google Music in any way.
Thats strange, your headphones might be broken. Mine are currently broken, they do absolutely nothing. Friend told me the resistor in the jack or the controller is probably blown. I checked with my friends set and his control my phone like my original headphones. Should've know something was up when one day i went to skip to the next track and it took a few tries to work, it just kept pausing. The next day none of my controls worked including holding the play button to activate voice controls
do you have access to any other headphones that work for android phones to try? Also have you disabled anything since I see you're rooted?
It is weird the phones don't work, I so rarely use them. Maybe 5 times total.
"have you disabled anything since I see you're rooted".. oh yeah, who hasn't the question is what item would interfere with that? I use 2 apps - App Quarantine and Autostarts to kill some apps from loading. Not sure which would/could even interfere with that. Especially when it (the phone) accepts the volume up and down buttons input.
I have a question, can you use the voice control feature with them plugged in?
Just composed a text message & used S Voice just fine. Is that what you meant?
I cannot control Winamp either even with the headset controls set to on in the settings. Related?
Sounds like app quarantine or autostart is disabling something to make the headphones work properly with your music controls. To make sure test your headphones with someone else's phone to make sure or disable both apps so everything is enabled to see if that works. And if it does then disable each one of your disabled apps one by one till you find the culprit and just leave that app enabled and disable all the others you wanted disabled.

Actually, I doubt it is anything done in quarantine or autostart. Autostarts just stops apps from launching upon startup or other conditions, but the apps and services will startup when needed. Just stops them from starting up unneeded on a phone restart.
App quarantine, all I did was quarantine dumb useless apps like Facebook and VZW Navigator, KIndke, Google+, Guided Tours, Kies, Setup Wizard and crap like that. Again, not likely anything that can interfere the more I looked at what I had disabled.
Also, I downloaded and tried an app called "Headset Button Controller" and it, in fact, showed that the button presses are making it to the phone which shows the buttons on the headset are in fact working. BUT it would not control Google Music as it claims "no music app is running" which is total BS.
I wonder if this could have anything to do with the fact I am still on OS 4.0.4 and never went to 4.1.x. I would not see how or why as both Google Music and these headphones and that phone came out before 4.1. But maybe before 4.1 the headset never actually controlled Google Music either? Which I would find shocking.
Something is certainly up here.
My headphones controlled Google music from release day of phone, so as long as you kept the Music app up to date I wouldn't see an issue. The thing is you can't even control Winamp which makes me believe its more of a software issue. Have you tried enabling all your apps and uninstalling App Quarantine and Autostarts just to see if that works?
Solved: Autostarts had the ability to disable "media button" for an app and so within Google Music that was disabled and that controls headset clicks and controls. I enabled that function and presto... it now works.

[Q] Call volume really low

Is there an app or other software to boost the volume? All my volume settings are maxed and i cant really hear the caller. Sometimes, though, it comes in just fine, but most of the time it doesnt.
Thanks

I had this problem with another phone and after an extensive search, I ultimately gave up on it. I will share what I tried and maybe save you a little trouble.
First and simplest, try gently cleaning out the earpiece with a little toothpick, a pin, or better yet blow it out with some air. This seems to work for some people, as overtime gunk can build up inside the screen.
Next, there are a lot of apps that claim to work as volume boosters. Most of them are for speaker volume and not for in-call volume. After sifting through many of them I found one or two that claimed to help in call volume but they really did not work. If you go this route then "happy hunting".
Some ROMs have a hearing aid setting under the Accessibility options but I couldn't tell you which. The ROM I'm using has ways to change the volume steps for all volume settings and that might help (I'm using Liquid Smooth found here in the DEV section).
There is an Xposed module that enables you to adjust some volume steps.
Viper for Android gives you a lot of control over the sound of the device (it has Xloud) and it works well with the Apollo Music Player found on many ROMs but I can't say for sure it helps in-call volume. It sure makes music sound good though.
Last and hardest, if you are rooted and have a file managing app, you can go into the system files and edit them. This would probably require the assistance of a dev who could tell you exactly where these file are located and what the correct settings should be. Of course, there is always a chance of damaging your phone this way.
That's all I know. Hopefully, one of these options will work for you, or someone wiser will jumped in with a better solution. Good luck!
You need to tell everyone what software you are using and how long you have been having a problem.

App like viper4android?

Hi guys is there an app like viper4android that doesnt require root as I'm looking for a bit more volume out of my galaxy buds and just wondering if it was possible
Prefiberly system wide volume so works on all apps ect
Thanks
I assume you already have the hardware volume button turned up all the way. Try Developer options > Disable absolute volume
Also, make sure you are using the proper size tips for your ear canal. With the medium sized tips, I was getting a lot of ambient noise. I switched to the large ones and they block out most ambient noise. If the largest tips don't help, then you may have to search Amazon for specialized tips.
Afaik, there is nothing like V4A for unrooted devices. V4A works its magic by using a special driver that bypasses the default system driver, which is impossible without root access.

Thanks for the reply I've changed to the bigger tips and did make a little difference I've just gone to developer options should the setting be selected on or off as this is my default lol
I've also tried selecting ldac as I've heard its ment to sound better but keeps setting back to default SBC
I have an iphone 11 pro max sat here too just debating which to keep but I think the note is just alot more device lol
Thanks
You want to *disable* absolute volume, so toggle that switch to blue. I have never messed with codecs, so I can't advise you there.

Issue with Notification volume but can't find the reason :(

My issue is simple, notification sound volume keep adjusting by itself to around 70%, I always set it under 50%.
- I used to use Bixby routines to adjust volume for ringtone and notification when i reached home, however i haven't turned all of them off.
- I have Sound Assistant installed but no Scenario has turned on
This issue has bugged me for 2 months now, it's so annoying. What is causing the volume to adjust by itself?

I cannot give you a direct answer, to your question
However i could give you an option, that you might consider, if you are desperate apart from factory reset that might help.?
Firstly, i had a similar issue than yours, on my
old Note 10 plus, Volume kept adjusting.
i also had Sound assistant installed.
I uninstall Sound assistant, but issues persisted with
volume adjusting.... then i found
the culprit.
I had another 3rd party Sound volume app, installed
where i had many months before, set a profile volume
to a certain level..!
Deleted and issue fix
So sometimes it's a simple, tweak or something you did and forgot about...?
Anyway, if you are so desperate, you can mabye
reset your " Device Settings " ? .. it might help?
Further
if you like Sound Assistant,
this 3rd party app "Volume Styles "
Google Play Store, is much more fun and interesting/better, so much more options etc.
I have the paid version.

You can check it out if you want to ?

I end up clearing data for the Bixby routine, then didn't create any recipe related to volume, so far so good, the volume is not adjusting by itself. May have to pay attention these few days and see whether the issue persist. Anyway, thanks for your solution, I don't really want to reset my setting though.
