[Q] G-Tab power button wont turn ON unit - G Tablet General

So I've had the G-Tab for a month now (stock 1.1) and decided to change the rom to Vegan-Tab and followed these steps.
1. Installed CWM fine no problems.
2.Repartitioned, again fine no problems.
3. Tried installing Vegan-Tab appeared to work fine until after re-boot the tab got stuck on the three birds.
4. Realised I should have run NVFlash before installing new Rom so ran NVflash, again appeared fine until re-boot. This time I was not able to turn the Tab on (Power Button not working)
So now the only way I can turn on the device is to run NVflash (tried with and without CWM) and leave it on all day.Power button works fine for entering sleep mode or for turning Off but just will not turn the Tab on. Any time I try to install a new Rom I get through all phases until the re-boot, then nothing. Guessing I am maybe stuck in APX but how do I fix?

Yes... you're in an APX loop. Try the following...
1) Do an nvflash to start it up and immediately do a datawipe. If the resultant restart doesn't fix it...
2) Goodintentions has a GTablet for Dummies website with known good nvflash images. Follow his instructions carefully.
3) If none of that has worked... Sometimes the only way out of these loops is to force the tablet to reload a stock bootloader. The following procedure will do that:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=13474033&postcount=114

This guy has already tried all those tricks. I was the one who sent him here. Anyone else know how he could fix his gtab? I ran out of ideas.

If that's the case I'd be interested in seeing it. Ive never seen one that failed all of the above... Perhaps a hardware problem?
Logs would help...
Any error messages during nvflash?
Any other odd behavior?
Be happy to help if you can supply more info.

Hey, yo, try my new code detox in the home page. Can't believe I forgot about that.

Thx for your input guys, especially goodintentions. Ended up contacting Viewsonic and sending unit back. If they repair/replace it great, if not and I get it back I will try your detox. Either way next time I will follow your directions to the letter and won't get carried away this time. I will also be sending a donation/beer money your way! You guys are great for us dummies.

Will VS replace the unit even though you flashed a ROM to it. I was wondering if I should send mine in. I NVFlashed it and now I get nothing. no screen, no recovery mode, no APX mode. It is not recognized by Windows when plugged in nothing but that little red glowing light when I plug in the power jack.

If you can't turn it on, then they can't turn it on.
I'm guessing what you have is a hardware issue. Just a coincidence that it happened as you flashed in something else.

[Q] Dead after update

3588 running enhancements. running great for weeks. Tonight was using my tab and noticed that the battery was getting low. I powered it off, plugged it in and set it on the night stand. 10 minutes later I wanted to check something on the Internet. I turned on the tab and got several errors. magic value mismatch, bad boot device, and some hex addresses I didn't write down. I tried power/vol+, it looked like it was restoring then failed. In the end all I got was magic value mismatch. First thing I did was come here search in magic value mismatch and found posts on NVFLASH. I got the files, performed the flash and all appeared to go well. When the tab rebooted all the tapntap windows were blank. No big deal I always used classic UI anyway. Immediately I got the notice that 3588 was available. I told it to down load and apply. After the update, my tablet shut down..... Completely. It will not respond at all. Power button does nothing, power /vol+ does nothing. Any suggestions?
Did you try holding power and vol- ?
Also, you can hop in the #tegratab IRC on Freenode and more people can help you.
Yes I did
I did try power/vol- nothing happened. I was however able to do the nvflash again. It get's me back to the blank tapntap. I told it to do a factory reset. Now it will not turn back on again. Seems the only way to get the thing back on is to reflash it.
Found the problem. Corrupted system.img. Re-extracted nvflash_gtablet_2010110500.zip and sizes were different. Reflashed, and all is well. Still no idea what caused the initial Magic Value Mismatch.
Have you tried flashing a different ROM?
You may want to have a look at this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=903684
I hate to say it, but it sounds like your tab is doing something simitar.
BigJohn
It was a simple system.img corruption. He re-downloaded it and it worked fine.

[Q] CM 7 Boot loop/Blank screen

Hi All,
Disclaimer: I have scoured the internet and this forum looking for others who found solutions to my problem, and I've found several similar cases, but none quite like mine. I've done all I can think of short of sacrificing lambs on giant LG logos painted on the ground, so I'm resorting to posting. Forgive me if I missed something obvious - it's entirely possible since I'm still a newbie...
With that said, here's my issue:
I downloaded a CM7 nightly build and successfully flashed it on my p999 this morning using ROM manager. I went back to stock 2.2.2 afterward. Earlier this evening, I decided to flash CM7 again from the ClockWork recovery mode, but this time I didn't do a wipe (yes, I realize I'm a massive idiot). After rebooting, I got stuck in the standard boot loop with the cyan android alien doing its skateboard thing. I tried booting to recovery mode, but holding down power+down volume just brought up the android alien and the white box with a loading bar for a short time before rebooting. Standard suggestions involved (reasonably so) performing a hard reset. Though the phone won't boot straight into recovery mode, pressing the home button while the loading bar is visible brings up text suggesting the data, cache, etc of the phone are being formatted. After this process completes, I'm left at the system recovery utility with blue text and I can navigate the first menu, but the power button (nor any of the others for that matter) doesn't actually select any of the options. After removing the battery to reboot the phone, it still gets stuck in the boot loop and occasionally goes blank after failing to get to the launcher a few times.
I've also tried using the adb approach, but no device is detected on the linux machine despite being able to access some form of the bootloader.
Have I legitimately bricked my phone, or is there still something I haven't tried? Thanks a million for any help.
You didn't search very long did you? Go to the development section and find the thread on the one click nvflash tool, read the OP in that thread and you should be good to go.

This forum is saturated with problems and cases exactly like yours, almost word for word.

I found plenty involving a boot loop with CM7, but all of them were able to get to recovery mode just fine. Despite what you might think, I spent several hours trying to find something that worked. Thanks for the help. I'll see if nvflash helps.
They were able to get into recovery mode because they flashed it correctly using nvflash. Pardon my tone. I guess it sounds rude. Its been a long day and I'm tired. Anyway, nvflash recovery and you'll have no issues getting stuck like this.

No problem. =) When trying to go the adb route, I saw the volume up+down trick to get the device to be detected, but it wasn't working on the linux or mac (lion - it's been having issues detects various external devices anyway) machines that I was using. After checking out the nvflash thread, it seems maybe a windows machine is necessary. Getting bootcamp going. Here's to hoping it'll work. Thanks a ton again for the suggestion - this is exactly what I was looking for (wanted a way to get CWM on the phone).
Make sure to check out this thread if you haven't already. Its a one click tool for nvflash.

Yay!
Thanks a ton! In retrospect, it seems my problem was right along the lines of multiple others', but I just didn't realize it since a few details on the specifics here and there seemed different. Sorry for wasting the board space, but thanks for your patience and help. I can't emphasize how much I appreciate it.

[Q] Galaxy Nexus Boot Loop (stock)

I have an unlocked HSPA+ Galaxy Nexus imported from the UK to the US. Ordered from Negri Electronics.
It's not rooted or modded in any way.. Mainly because I don't know how to. As far as I know, it's running stock ICS.
I was using it normally, (using the fb messenger app if it makes any difference) when it suddenly rebooted by itself. The Google logo comes up, then the start up animation, and sometimes the home screen will appear but is not touch sensitive (i cannot slide it to unlock), and then it 'hangs' and the screen goes black. Repeat.
I've tried to fix this by myself and there's a video on youtube (sorry, noob here. can't post links. video is by robbidwv and title is "my galaxy nexus won't boot..") of the same problem that I have, but the posted solution doesn't work for me.
So far, I have entered Coin Mode and pressed Start. Entered Fastboot mode and gone into Recovery Mode (no options appear after that. it just starts booting up and the loop begins), and I've also tried Restart Bootloader.
I've almost given up. Now all I want is to extract my SMS, if they're still on my phone. I can't access the folders on my computer because it won't boot up and connect. Is there a way that I can extract my SMS by using DOS in either Coin Mode or Fastboot mode?
Or even better, does anyone have a solution to this boot loop problem? I'll contact Negri Electronics tomorrow and hopefully they can send me a replacement.
Please help!! Thanks
that problem just started happening with me an hour ago!!
i hate this!!
we need a solution please!
Hey guys, sorry about the issue.the major problem I see here is you wanting to retrieve your txt messages, which might be possible with a little Modding, but if yourwilling to lose them to get a working phone back, then this is what your going to have to do. Make sure your phone is completely off. Hold the 2 volume buttons and the power button together. You will get into a mode with an android Guy. Press the volume button up or down until it says reboot recovery at the top. Press the power button. It will rebootand come to a screen with an android. Hold volume up,down and power at the same time. A menu will come up. Go down to wipe data. Click it, and after it is done reboot. Your phone should work now.
If this helped you, or you simply appreciate me taking the time to write this out then please press the thanks button
Hey!
Thanks. Yeah I 'fixed' it already. I was just about to post something similar. After a while I just gave up on trying to recover my data. Good thing that Google syncs everything so the only issue would be recovering my messages, which I decided weren't worth sending it in for a repair which would probably not be able to recover anything anyway.
The thing I didn't know about was to press power + volume up WHILE on the recovery screen. I thought navigating to the recovery screen was it!
Still, this kind of sucks. I love my GNex, but I can't help but be slightly pissed seeing that my crappy iPhone 3GS never did this in the 2 years I had it. Oh well, hope it doesn't happen again!
hey guys! i also did a complete wipe on my phone and got it working again!
but i wonder why this happened in the first place?
last application i installed before the crash was double twist, i dunno why but i feel that it was the reason behind the boot loop!
Sorry for reviving this thread, but I just had this happen to me TWICE!
It happened to me first last Monday, the 23rd - the phone crashed when trying to send an email with an attachment - and went into a boot loop - Google logo would appear, no make it to the animation, and reboot....
I performed a full reset and things worked again. I didn't install all the apps I had before - figuring it must have been due to some app messing with the OS.
Well, it happened again to me yesterday! I was connecting to my bluetooth headset when the phone crashed and went into the boot loop. Full reset worked again, and I've installed even fewer apps - essentially only those that I use on a daily basis.
My phone is still on 4.0.1 and I'm hoping once 4.0.4 is pushed this may get resolved? I have a canadian GNex from Negri. I will call them again (I called the first time, but when the full reset worked I never contacted them again).
I would like to this this is a software issues, and not hardware.
I have the same problem. If you figure it out let me know.
Today my phone also entered a boot loop: [Google logo]->[black screen]->[vibration]->[Repeat]
I tried Recovery Mode, but this is what happens: (sorry for the link but I am not trusted with powerful tools such as outside links apparently, as I have not yet reached the maturity of a person with eight posts... )
dl(dot)dropbox(dot)com/u/53568097/Android.jpg
This is what I see when I navigate to Recovery Mode
For a split second I can see an image of an Android with spinning cogs in his innards, but then this little sad fellow appears. WTF is this?
EDIT:
Oh, and I'm running Android stock 4.0.2, never rooted or unlocked, Swedish. At the time when the phone started doing this, I was using Endomondo, and was about to set off on my bike when it died on me.
Stock ROM galaxy nexus bootlooping after wiping data also.
Hi,
My GNex went into a bootloop so i searched xda and found that factory reseting would be helping my prob. But after wiping the data also its still in going through the loop . Please help .:crying:

Need assistance/info with bricked shield tablet

Received a shield tablet through a promotion my company was doing with nvidia, decided to try it out. (pointing this out ahead of time to let the 'just return it' people know that I cant and am stuck with it.) upon finally deciding to boot it up a couple months later, it booted into the bootloader menu instead of booting like normal. then when choosing to boot would boot into a very stripped version of android with few apps, tegra services repeatadly crashing, no app store/play/etc . I wanted to have the proper out of the box experience nvidia intended, so decided to hunt down a stock factory image to flash to it to just resolve the issue and start from scratch with my new tablet. was able to flash recovery/boot/system/userdata/etc via fastboot. upon restarting, screen went black and wouldnt start. plugged in to computer, device manager says "APX" and that's it. with unknown device/driver icon. if I power it off all the way and plug it back in it just goes back to saying "APX" with a "?" in device manager.
how can I get it out of this mode and booting so I can finally try this thing out? have tried diff combos including bootloader/recovery mode button presses at boot time and nothing works, goes back to the same thing. I've also seen mention about nvflash and some other things when looking into this, but nothing solid on where I get the program, how im supposed to use it to fix my device.
Thanks

[Completed] Stuck at LG logo on LG L5 II e460

So, yesterday I decided to reboot my phone since it was very sluggish for whatever reason. I think it shut down properly but when it came back on, there was a very interesting problem that had come up - it didn't boot any further than the logo screen, which didn't even play its standard animation; it just stood there with the LED on the home button changing colors (like normal). I left it on overnight hoping the problem would be gone, but to no avail. It still hadn't booted when I woke up. If it matters, the only thing I can boot to is download mode. It doesn't let me get to safe mode or however it's called (the menu you navigate with volume up/down and the power button). Needless to say, I was very puzzled. Then I went on and tried to flash the latest kdz since I thought that would fix the problem. I hoped that would easily fix the problem. But no, it decided to be funny and give me more headache. I tried using this guide: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2409308 but after step 20 the LG Mobile Support Tool crashes and I can't continue. Sure thing, I will try the Upgrade Recovery that the tool has built in. It properly detects my phone, the software download and extraction goes smoothly. Then I reach the S/W Upgrade part of the process. The few first seconds everything is fine, but then the bar reaches 5% and just stops. Just like that. Now it's been 8 hours since I began the recovery and no progress has been made.
Can anybody help me? I'm lost here...
