[Q] Sense UI for Captivate?

Hey everybody, I have tried to search around and I have found no luck, but does anyone know if they have ported the sense ui and can you load it on the captivate? maybe a dumb question i dunno but i figured i would give it a try.

Not yet. Mostly everyone has been working on the gps issues and lag fixes.

just use Launcher Pro and then find a .apk file for fancy widget (a copy of the clock), it's not sense, but its much snappier than the stock captivate launcher and it has some HTC like widgets in the paid version, I find it very functional ^_^

Ive tried several different launchers including launcher pro but i found that i like adw launcher the best. You can download a sense theme for it from the market. I previously had samset 1.5 & 1.8 installed which includes the clock widget. After i synced to app brain i was able to reinstall it after i flashed a different rom. This is pretty much my ui of choice. It has been running great, plus you can enable horizontal swipe in the app drawer via adw settings which i find to work more smoothly. Hope that might have helped some for the time being.

Thank You! I too have been looking for a version of sense for the Captivate. This does a good job of pulling off the over all look and feel!

Another vote for the paid version of Fancy Widget. Very customizable and can be made to look just like Sense.

Sense UI isn't just a skin or launcher like TouchWiz. It actually replaces a lot of stuff in the ROM and has its own framework. You can't just "add" it to a ROM. It IS the ROM. I don't think you'll have it running on Galaxy S phone anytime soon.

Not working:
1.camera
2.phone service
3.HTC usb menu (can be fixed with a script made by dexter, and smali to some jar's)
4.Turning of the device
5.HTC's hibernate mode
6.Lockscreen( pressing power to bring the phone from standby will not get a lockscreen after like 5min, plug the device to usb cable and it should bring the lockscreen up)
7.Other things i might have forgotten.

You don't get it do you. I posted the link where this was being looked at. I never stated it worked. Don't be so hung up on being right when in fact you aren't. This question is unnecessary and will be locked by a mod because the question has been answered.

I have been trying it out most of today. It is pretty good looking but thats about it. I find it to me too big and cluttered of a UI.
I much prefer MIUI over this. But then again, I am a sucker for simplicity.

I didnt like the miui launcher. Missing an app drawer there. Things got messy quite quickly...
for me, on the dell launcher, the recent apps widget is a huuuge win!

I installed this on my HD2 running Bluetopia 0.6.1 and ruined my process.com.htc.launcher.

Hmm. Its okay. Still buggy I think, landscape wont work on MDJ's kernel. The launcher could still use some work though dell!
EDIT: Apparently, the DPI needs to be @ 160. Landscape should work then. <3

This looks really cool, alas I noticed a difference in speed on the miui build. Great concept though. I'm using MIUI w/ launcher pro plus on it so I could keep the speed and the app drawer. I can't wait for Dell to make this thing faster!

On the whole, this is fugly. The music widget, on the other hand, is pretty awesome. Anyone know a way to use this with Launcher Pro?

Is anyone else getting a force close from the Email widget? That is the only Dell Stage widget that causes Dell Stage launcher to force closes when I tap to add an account. I tried running fix_permissions but it didn't help.
The Facebook Social widget won't sign in either. It keeps coming back with a message saying the account couldn't be verfied.

email is not shown, says to add account, i have 2 and none of them is shown.
twitter is ok here, facebook not sign in.

does this work with sense andriod releases??

Errr... if Email and facebook widgets aren't working, everything isn't working fine....
Btw, same thing here. Those two widgets don't work.

Installed on my JDMS android build and it seems to work okay, twitter logs in and basic mail sems fine.
cant use our exchange 2010 as the default exchange support in froyo doesnt support the extra security requirements we have. Ho hum.
Two things though, cant make it show up on my Mdeejay Sense build at all (home switcher doesnt see it), and I cant make it go landscape on JDMS.

Cheers for the link. I gave it a try but it seems very cumbersome and inflexible in comparison to ADW Launcher.

but .... still getting lots of fcs even after the update
sticking with it tho as its very pretty and very quick. As a non-developer not sure what I can do to help with testing/debugging

Can EX import settings from the free launcher yet?

Hey, I installed ADWLauncherEX form market. Now, I'm running into some problems:
The Launcher won't save any settings, I set. In fact, every time I exit the settings dialog, the changelog pops up again. Anyone know, what to do about that?

same thing happens to me..
any ideas?
edit: found it, you have to use an app like root explorer and delete 2 directories located in dbdata/databases.I don't recall their exact name, but they both contained the string "adw" and were almost at the end of the list.

Thanks, that did the trick. Found only one folder cointaining the string "adw", but it worked nevertheless. If it weren't for these internet forums I'd have grey hairs by now.

no worries man..i found one aswell,but most of the people with the same problem wrote they found two..
Nevertheless it works like a charm so..

Launcher works great for me so gar on a Galaxy S. However, I noticed one annoying thing: Loading the shortcut list for applications takes an eternity (I have 300+ apps installed). The same thing goes for the dialog in ADWNotfier, where you can select the SMS oder Mail-App. This definitely needs some code improvement.

Hey, I downloaded the app yesterday and it still wont download to my phone I have the captivate and it just runs a bar saying authorizing i left it overnight and it still has that running so i canceled and redid it, still nothing it wont physically install whats wrong?

I love the speed of ADW EX.
Only significant complaint so far is that there's no direct access to System Preferences from the launcher menu. Shouldn't have to go into sub-menus to access the system prefs.
Question: Is there a way to get SMS/Gmail/Voicemail notifications in the dock?
Both LauncherPro+ and Go Launcher will attach such counts to the relevant icons, but I don't see this in ADWLauncher EX. In ADW Settings > General Preferences > System Preferences there's options for "Show notifications" and "Bubble font size", but I have no idea how these apply. I sent myself a SMS, and though my Notification bar was showing one message, there wasn't anything visible in the Launcher itself.

OK. Got it working. Didn't realize I need to download ADW Notifier as well.
Would be nice if the notifiers were smart and only wiped the numbers after you actually read the email (for example) rather than as soon as you open Gmail though. That's how Go Launcher seems to work.

So far I'm liking this. I am having a problem, and I don't know if it's a feature or a bug. Every time I swipe down on any part of the screen the notification bar will come down. I switched back to Launcher Pro and it did not do this. Also when switching to the hidden dock it drags the icon form the normal dock. I would also like to see a way to change the dock backgrounds like on Launcher pro. And I'm with saltorio, It would be nice if there was a system prefs from the main menu. But I could get used to it where it is now. Keep up the good job.

So is ADW ever going to get some widgets similar to LPP? Would live to give ADW a serious consideration but having to pay for other apps just to make up for ADWs shortcomings doesn't make sense.

OK. They finally updated after about 20 min. Which is annoyingly long time to wait right after getting a new app. I would still like to know if I can force them to refresh though.

You have to tell us specifically which widgets are you using and what apps have you installed to interact with them.
As far as I know widgets are real time unless the launcher is caching the screens. So if its not the launcher it may be that the apps you installed have not gathered enough data yet for the widget to display it.

I also have this problem, and I've just resorted to rebooting my phone. Not ideal, but seems to be the quickest way to update the list.

Just to clarify I meant the ICS app drawer widget selector thing is not refreshing. Not horrible but kind of annoying to have to reboot or wait forever.

Force close the launcher under settings --> applications. When the launcher refreshes you should be good to go.

Power Control Widget Vanished

My Nexus S (i9020a) is running on Jelly Bean, and after recently uninstalling the beta of Apex Launcher and then reinstalling the stable version, I noticed that my Power Control widget was gone.
After I noticed that, I uninstalled Apex Launcher completely (cleared data for the app first to be sure). Still, the Power Control widget was no longer available on my phone.
For the time being, I have downloaded a third-party equivalent off of the Play Store, but I'd really like to know what happened here. Has this happened to anyone else? If so, is there any way to get it back?

Nope. That's a third-party app. The stock Power Controls Widget is nowhere to be found in the app store.

I'm on the Nexus 7 and have noticed exactly the same thing. This is the stock Android Power Control Widget. It was there with stock launcher and also with Nova Beta, but with Apex, its nowhere to be found.

This just happened on my GNex as well. I figure we're suffering the same issue. Mine vanished after trying out a few 3rd party ones strangely enough. I haven't found anything yet to fix it. Rebooting after an uninstall didn't help either. Any ideas, peeps?

This literally just happened to my GNex aswell

Lol. What the hell? I'm using Widgetsoid for the time being, but this was totally random. I tried reflashing my stock ROM, pushing the launcher via ADB. Zip. Ziltch. Nada. Wonder what could be causing it...

Perhaps a full wipe is in order... But I can live without it for now

Word. I don't really care anymore. It's more of a nuisance that I can't find out why it did.

It becomes unavailable in the widget drawer? What if you on press an empty area on the desktop and select widgets, is it in that list?

No, no longer in the list (for me anyway).

Just my 2 cents.... I'm not sure About JB but all other ROMs the app had to be on the phones memory for the widget to even be available or on the widget list.... so perhaps whichever file the power control is in, maybe it got switched over to SD card
Or
An App that was installed moved the files that are needed for that power control widget.
I know its a stab in the dark but ...

Did a factory reset and Power Control widget is back (on stock launcher), stock N7 JB.

I figured that's what I would have to do to get it back. Thanks for reporting back with a fix .

No worries. Have posted the problem on the main Alex thread, but no comments on it. Also have emailed the Dev, so hopefully it can be resolved soon.
