Anybody know anything about this phone? I know it's basically a g2x but with ATT 3G bands. Went ahead and picked one up at Negri cause it was on sale for 489.

THe pic of the back is definitely an Optimus Black, however specs are definitely of a P990h 2X

I find it hard to believe they don't know about our problems. would be nice to get some confirmation that they are working on a solution but I bet the next update clears everything up for us.
Aren't they the same phone? Just like the Desire and the N1. One was stock while the other had Sense, but same hardware.
I think when they figure it out on one, they'll push it to the other.

Not the same. One has the T-Mobile 4G radio, one doesn't.
I made this mistake when buying the P-990
But I returned it and got the G2x =]

4G doesn't have a separate radio. Specs are the same. High-speed HSPA+ is probably just locked out in the baseband for the P-990. Just a guess, though.
^: He means to say that UMTS frequencies on T-Mobile support AWS, while the international version supports 900/1900/2100, which would indeed mean that the 4G radio modules used are different.
Just went to the local store and was going to by a g2x for my wife out of stock while I was there, guess who a LG REP I probed her for questions did not answer me why no longer on sale, could not tell me but she did assured me that LG will. Be pushing an update VERY SOON.. what ever that means
P.s. she was not as hot as the LG girl

that was a bit un-necessary eh? you can see the "add to cart" button is greyed out. it's pretty much confirmed. The phone is no longer, for the moment at least, up for grabs on the t-mob site and I would guess in stores. just a guess tho
watch t-mo will probably say hey you can trade in your g2x for the new sensation. and watch everyone get pissed cause of the locked bootloaders and tmo will be laughing their asses off

Do you think there will be 2 updates: one to fix the current issues and the other Gingerbread, or 1 update that combines the two? I hope it's both. Right now my phone is on it's way here. I will test to see if I have the same problems as others have.

Update is any day now...they pulled the remaining stock because of two reasons...
1. QC issues with the first few batches
2. The update will need to be applied OTA so it proly makes more sense to do that in house then sell the phones....

I hear you. I want to keep the G2x. I hate HTC Sense. I don't want the Sensation or any other phone or I would of waited. They need to send out a major update ASAP to fix all the software issues. As far as screen bleed. Replacement with a new batch if LG fixes ?

Weirdly enough my backlight bleed resolved itself. It was pretty bad now its not there at all. I agree it needs to be fixed and I think they're just processing the boatload of returns they got on the device.
And the Sensation is a rather large downgrade from the G2x... The Snapdragon's graphics capability is less than half what the G2x pulls stock, let alone when overclocked. I'd leave T-Mobile if they tried to force a Sensation down my throat.

Oh, I don't want the Sensation either. If I did, I would have already returned the G2X and used my Vibrant until then. I am sticking to what I said before and that is, I feel that the G2X is the better device that will hold me over until Tmo gets there SGSII variant. I have wanted that phone since I saw it.
I made my comment because I don't think T-Mobile would ever take our devices back, give us a different phone and discontinue the G2X completely. Thats a serious loss of revenue. No company in there right mind would do that. The most T-mobile will do is replace our phones with working ones from a new batch.
They can have my g2x.... when they pry it from my cold dead fingers. I ain't gonna update ****. My phone works perfectly. Even though I was a bit disapoonted with the can boasting 8mp and have suck ass features this phone rocks. I hope those who do have issues get some justice though.

Would anyone be able to link the post regarding the g2x being pulled? I'm just getting into the android world and the g2x is my first android device and I love it. I can't even find a example of the screen bleed everyone is talking about.
Guess I don't have the issue since I love my screen, but the constant radio bounce is annoying, so is the phone turning off in the middle of the night and not waking me when it's time to go to work. But that had only happen once.

I posted this in another thread but thought I would give it it's own thread so more people see it. I found these pics from E3 and it's hard to tell but in one of the pics at the very bottom it looks to me like the G2x is running Gingerbread (first pic in last row).
Can others look at this and see what you think. If this is Gingerbread it's very good news:

Yea, that's definitely gingerbread. Just look the launcher. And the fact they are even showing this phone that is supposedly being phased out is good also.

Exactly. False advertising IMO.
soo i just called technical support and i asked when will the gingerbread update be out she said it will start rolling out on the 15th of june then she said if u have a task killer temporarily remove it so it doesnt interfere with the update..............so great great news
oh and she said have it over 50 percent charged so the update rolls thru rite??? so im excited
We almost have gb for our phone fellas. That picture, hopefully, is confirmation. That better not be the leaked gb running on that g2x! lol

Spoke with tmobile usa management, and mid-summer is as specific as they can get. Doesn't depend on t-mobile: the fix is coming from LG. That's why there's no exact roll out date.
BTW, the tmobile girl, up close, looks like a really attractive demon. She looks like the evil women in The Devil's Advocate...

Thats true.
In need of a replacement front cover, which includes the capacitive button area and LG area up at the top, along with the brushed metal color bezel. I was able to find this, http://www.parts4repair.com/lg-optimus-2x-full-housing-cover-brown/ but for the O2X, everything looks similar and I know the phones are practically identical, but are they EXACTLY the same?
don't quote me on this but i'm pretty sure the G2x is just a t-mobile branded O2x, so i would assume the hardware is the same

I thought so also, some pretty good prices on that site, but it's china. Who knows if I'm actually getting what's in the picture, everything there is LG and Google branded, I hope the same stuff comes in the mail!
I see tutorials about taking this thing apart, and they're all like 5-7 minutes long, so it shouldn't be that much of a chore.

Ebay no, but I checked Amazon, I'll have to look. I'd MUCH rather get things locally with actual pictures of what I'm ordering, and not generic pictures.

Looking at eBay, there are US shippers that have bezels and front capacitive covers for like $30-$40 for both the g2x and HD7 that I need.
Now I have to get a Y cable with SD card reader to root my hd7, such a hassle.
