[Q] Problems with reverting back to stock.

Hey!
I followed this guide: http://theunlockr.com/2011/01/20/how-to-unroot-the-nexus-s/
I got all the way to the step where you reboot your phone to get it to install stock recovery. But when it starts the phone is all wonky. Only button that has light on it is the menu button, and the touchscreen is even more wonk.
I realised that this might be because I got the EU i9023 model. Anyone kind enough to help me reverting back to stock?

If you followed that to a T then you flashed GRH78 for SAMOLED devices onto a device with an SLCD screen.
Look here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1009432
The files provided there are the stock rom(s) for the i9023 and will flash with ODIN (linked as well).
To get into download mode:
Turn off phone....Hold vol up/down plug in USB it will access download mode
think its assessable once you unlock your bootloader

Thanks alot man! I didnt even know that the Nexus S used ODIN. Havent used Odin sence the galaxy i7500

It *can* but it is not necessary. All flashing can be done via custom recovery or using fastboot. But, as you've rendered the screen not operational it may be your best way to go at this point

I tried to flash the DARKY rom into my Infuse, will it work? Its still booting up and says galaxy S on the screen. If it doesnt work, I can go back into recovery and flash infused again, correct? Thanks!

Darky ROM is not compatible with Infuse.
None of the roms under "download" in Rom Manager are compatible for the Infuse Phone except for the one under the heading of: "gtg465x" which is the Infused rom which can also be found here:

There are 2 other custom roms which are made for the Infuse, one is called "Bionix Infinity" which you can find here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1120469
The other rom is called "Refused" which can be found here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1101072
If you are having problems getting the phone back into recovery mode there is only one thing which will solve the problem for you.
You will need to download the "Ultimate Unbrick" rom.
You can find the Ultimate Unbrick rom here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1116251
This will get you back to the stock froyo 2.2 rom.
Be sure to follow the step by step instructions in the link above.

I already downloaded the ultimate, now I gotta try it! LOL I have no clue , why I even tried. I was told you cant brick this phone so go ahead, I hope he was right! Lucky I still have an inspire and an Iphone if I cant get it to work!!

Don't worry, your phone is NOT bricked at all, it just has to go into download mode and re-flashed with the stock rom using the Odin3 (TAR file method).
The reason you cannot get it back to recovery mode is that by trying to flash a none compatible rom it messes up the bootloader in the phone and as far as I can tell the only way to get it to work is by using Odin flash method which is really easy if you follow all the instructions completely.

Thanks!! Yea Im in business already halfway through the GTG ultimate. Damn, I was scared for a minute! My wife said, I was just trying to find an excuse to get another phone! LOL

Thanks for all the help! I gotta say this phone has me never going back to IOS, tried the atrix and the inspire wasnt sold, now I am.

You can do whatever the hell you want.
The only thing you can't fix is bad bootloaders.

Good job on reading threads before flashing Anything smart one! BTW there are only like 3 roms out for this phone right now!!!

G2X stuck on "LG" screen!!

K guys so here is the breakdown, I used super one click to root my g2x, i flashed cmw rec. from rom manager , i wiped data and cache and tried to flash the "toxic blood" rom for the g2x. I have flashed this rom before on one of my buddies g2x's and it worked flawless and on the one im doing now when it boots up it is stuck on the "LG" screen. I pull the battery and 2 button boot into recovery to re-flash and i get a little android guy and the screen looks like its factory reseting or something but will not boot into the recovery screen. I can hook it up to my lap and drivers are good and it connects through adb but other then that im stumped.. I could seriously use some help to get it either back to stock or flash another rom on there!!!

do a search for nvflash.

Try flashing an ext4 kernel

i searched nvflash, downloaded the .rar file and when i pull my battery and hold volume up and plug it in it is not recognized by my pc so i cant update or do anything..

Unfortunately some poor soul will probably read this and take it as serious advice and then get pissed cuz they can't figure it out.
OP, just follow crazythunder's advice. In the development section here find the one-click nvflash tool to properly flash cwm recovery ... you know what, just hang on .... okay here is the link to the proper thread:

Actually my bad, its included in the rar file you downloaded. Just follow the instructions in that thread on how to install the driver.

Yeh I got it figured out i appreciate both of you guys replying so quickly!!!

Does just rooting your g2x brick it? or do you have to intall a rom for it to get bricked. i want to root my g2x but i im begging and am scared to brick it. i found a link, but idk if its reliable if it actually roots the g2x 2.3.4 anything would help

With the recovery guides listed in this forum, the G2x can't be permanently bricked, so don't worry so much.

Rooting does not brick the phone, but being rooted gives you the ability to brick the phone. You do not need to be rooted to flash roms. The first thing that should be done is to install Clockworkmod (CWM) recovery onto the device (search the forums) using the one-click flasher. If you are simply rooting and using Rom Manager that is a good way to F up your device. If you install CWM recovery then you just flash a pre-rooted rom if you are changing roms. No need to root first. A total waste of time. And to be safe you need CWM on the device's physical recovery partition (not bootstrap version) before you do anything to your device.

This phone is almost impossible to actually brick. This is probabyl just a bad flash. Redownload the ROM, boot into recovery, wipe, wipe, wipe, and reinstall the ROM and the correct Gaaps.

If problem still persist, you will have no choice but to use Odin. Search around in the forum or Google. Good luck.

Huh? Odin is for Samsung devices, not for LG devices.

Unless there us something I don't know about, don't use Odin in g2x. Unless you do want a brick.
Just re-download the rom and try again.
For root just use One Click to root. It's easy.

How? I tried the steps for Flashing a CWM Recovery, but whenever I hold down power and volume down it just loops between the LG logo and the android unpacking animation and no driver installation window pops up. What's happening?

Sounds like you did not remove the battery from the phone first. Or you are not pressing both up and down volume together and keeping them pressed continuously.

When I do that, It just shows the LG logo and restarts. Another loop.
[EDIT] I'm a noob. I've been looking in to this for hours and just now realized it said both up and down. Derp. Now I can get into CWM recovery mode, but I still cant seem to get my device to actually boot. It's either recovery or the blue LG.

[Q] Stuck In ClockWorkMod

Like others, I foolishly accepted the OTA. Now no matter what I do, phone will only boot into CWM v.6.0.0.4. The ***** is, I can't access download mode, or adb. Any help would be graciously welcomed.

When you try to go into download mode by holding volume up and then plugging in USB what happens?

It goes to the LG screen and wont do anything til I turn it off.
Actually it stops at the LG screen and then goes right back to CWM. In CWN I can flash a ROM or restore a back up, but after is says I was successful & I reboot it goes right back to CWM

Sounds like parts of the ota went through and now it's messed up. Maybe try flashing back to stock 4.2.2 to get a clean start.

Thanks, much! Got fresh install of stock d80010d(4.2.2 At&T).:good: Now I have a new dilemma. Have followed every guide I could find, but not able to install any version of custom recovery. Have tried on 2 different machines, Win 7 64 bit, and a brand new laptop w/Win7 32 bit. And yes I have rooted.

Are you sure you are on 10d, I know 10o and 10q are a bit annoying to get recovery on, if you are on 10d then have you tried freegee from the playstore?

yea I wanted to make sure you were on 10d because some people brick there phone with freegee on 10q and sometimes 10o just fails, but glad it worked
