This app seems to be solving the issue with a low volume notification speaker. I find that the VR settings works the best and I notice a SIGNIFICANT difference.

What are the appropriate settings? Like an average level boost?
I'm playing with it now. So far VR just gives a super tinny distorted sound. My preference for speaker is EQ on treble boost, bass enhance on +4 and volume level @ +8 for SRS. For ringtones I have it set to eq=goodquality, bassenhance=+3 and Volume=+8.
Stock ringtones don't require any fine tuning and sound pretty good regardless of setting but if you use music files with vocals you're not gonna be happy without playing around to find your preference. You're going to want to keep bass low no matter what with this speaker.
I haven't messed with the settings beneath that which seem to be fine tuning eq controls.

Not warez. Volume+ is free on the dev's website, it supposedly has less features than the market version...

I saw that option as well, but I figured I'd pay for it if it worked, which it does...well.
I have no problems paying for it. The dev worked hard to get this working and out on the market for us impatient hard hearing owners lol....
Oh ok, my mistake.
Ya this worked really well, i d/l the app from the site but ill go and buy this. Really big improvement when using speaker phone and on a call.

Can someone post the best setting for speaker phone volume for this app
still playing with the settings but works great so far.
I can't say that this works for speakerphone. I see the sound differences when playing music and ringtones but there is absolutely no difference on a call.
When on a call in speakerphone, try turning bass up and down, volume up and down etc. You will see it doesn't respond to anything.

Just wait for the volume mod from the evo3d to get released for the sensation. Unlocking may come first though.
The download file is a ZIP file and there is no apk in there. Can someone please guide me on how to install Volume+

I have to disagree. My wake alarm which uses the speakerphone was pretty low as the app setting was to read on loud. After upping the speaker and headset settings to the max volume, it wasn't bazooka tube loud thump but it was loud enough to wake me up .

External Speaker to loud
Does anyone know of a mod or adjustment to decrease the external speaker volume? On the lowest setting it’s loud. I like to listen to slacker at night before going to sleep. I have the Galaxy 4G with the following:
[ROM][ODIN] Stock DEODEXED KD1 [Root][EDT][5.4.2011]
[KERNEL] Bali [VoodooSnd / BLN / BFQ / no OC] "Extended Battery Life" [5/24/2011]
Thank you
Get voodoo control. You can adjust the speakers volume through that.
Thank you for the fast reply. Voodoo control will control the speaker on the phone? I don't mean the head phones the speaker on the back.
Yes it definitely will. I increased my volume over the limit on the speaker atm.
Where's the speaker ATM setting? I have voodoo control plus 1.0.7.3 I don't see that option? Thank you
I just changed the volume limit. That should work. If it doesn't I dunno what to tell you.
OK thank you for trying. Maybe someone else has an answer. Just to be clear one more time. I'm talking about the speaker on the phone not any headphones. When I listen to the phone speaker it's to loud on the lowest setting. I would like to adjust the volume to a lower level. I don't see that option in voodoo sound only for the Headphone amplifier.
Voodoo works. On home screen long press the home screen, choose shortcut, choose voodoo. That will let you adjust the volume. The more -DB will decrease your volume. Hope that helps
Oops sorry. That's only for headphones =P

I don't want to point out what might be obvious but when I use the speakerphone for calls and music alike (both from external speaker on back of phone) I just start the call or song and then use the volume rocker on the side of the phone. Does this help?

Thank you for pointing out the obvious , but no that doesn't help. Ok using the volume rocker on the side the external speaker on back of phone is too loud on the lowest setting when playing music at night. Example when playing slacker I use the volume rocker on the side of the phone this is adjusting media volume. The question " Is there a way to adjust the gain to a lower value on the lowest setting so the volume is lower?" One of the developers should know a way to adjust the gain in maybe the kernel or somewhere?

Let me answer your question since it appears you need a straight forward response.
NO there is nothing to change the external speaker volume.
Additionally,.... TOO LOUD? The put some cloth on the speaker, put it on a pillow, do something to muffle the sound, but please, you have your answer... now let it die.
The op came here with a problem and was looking for a legitimate answer. Please don't get curt with posters because you think that their question isn't worth your time. I find that muffling the sound of the phone with a pillow to be unacceptable. Hopefully the op finds the answer that he needs before people like you tarnish the reason why open forums are here.

Bro you must have the hearing of a f'n bat cause even with the back speaker all the way up its still not loud to me. But I would say I have selective hearing( only hear what you want when you want and tune the other BS out). As for getting a lower volume try elixir app in the market it gives you 1 or 2 more options on volume. I would try turning system and music down once you have the app. Hope this helps

Thank you GDofWR420 for introducing me to the Elixir App. Unfortunately it didn’t resolve my issue. I guess my speaker is extra loud or something. Anyways under music “which is the same as media volume” it has 1/15 on settings 1 being the lowest with a percentage of 7% percent. It would be nice to change that to maybe 3%. This must be hard coded somewhere in a file. This app will not set it to a lower value. I also downloaded SamServMode went through all the options and still no change. It’s a pretty cool app to change system settings. Thank you so much GDofWR420 for trying.

There's an option in call settings for "Hearing aids" that says it'll bump up in-call volume. Haven't used it yet, so I don't know how well it works.
Granted I'm guessing it's -only- for phone calls, so for music/video playback I don't have an answer for you unfortunately.
Do you mean the speaker is as low as other HTC?
I thought it will be better than DHD and N1...
volume sucks
Low volume is one of the issues that bugs me with Sensation. The ring volume is low even at max and volume trough headphones is way too low.
This needs to be addressed by HTC ASAP in their new ROM.
The Stock music app has a feature called "SRS enhancement" It helps with the sound quality tremendously! It can be used either while listening to music or with the stock video player.
I've had good results from an app called Equalizer.
I changed the hearing aids setting and it has helped a lot for calls.

The "hearing aid" option does help out with the volume not just for calls but all other audio output as well. I guess I must be hard of hearing (by HTC's standards) because I really don't understand why the phone had such a low volume setting to begin with.
Well let's hope the Volume+ developer get it to work with the Sensation. I Just send him an email....
Hearing Aid is annoying because it doesn't help with speakerphone AND you can't lower the volume!
I installed volume+ today and it makes huge difference in sound quality
I think it is now supportable to HTC sensation

Tulsi Patel
Hello fellow HTC sensation owners
As you might know, the sound on the sensation isn't very high. That is why you can get the app called Volume+ . With that you can adjust some settings and get higher and better sound. I got some setting that will do that so follow this:
This is in speaker settings.
Speaker Modifications (on(of course))
Virtual room effect (on)
EQ settings ( Good quality)
Volume Level(15)
Bass level(8)
Virtual room (3)
Low: 200
Low/mid: 168
Mid: 136
Mid/high: 34
High: 96
Volume level:15
Bass boost: 15
Echo/delay level: 1
These are the settings, I hope it helped your experience. I've tried it with headset settings as well, and it seems to help. If I helped remember to hit the THANKS button
Volume level 15?? that would be dangerous.. Thanks fire settings.. Will try it ...

Volume + works on my S4G but the app doesn't seem to run in the background at phone start up. I just click on the app icon then hit home button so it runs in the background then, but it does work for me.
I have tried this app before... Now, correct me if I'm wrong, but from what I can gather it artificially boosts the volume, it doesn't make the phone properly louder.
When a quiet part of a song is playing the app boosts it, but when something really loud is playing, it stays loud, it doesn't become louder since the hardware is already pushed to the max. This way music gets distorted :\
But if I missed something and this app actually somehow "adds more volume", please tell me, since I could use more volume

Seriously dude? This is a year+ old, why are you bringing this up??
But seriously, this wasn't an issue before JB. I listen to music at night with my headphones on, to drown out my husband's snoring. Before (I think before the JB update, but not positive), I could put it on a very low volume, and I'd barely hear it. This was great, as it didn't wake me up when a louder song came on.
Since upgrading to JB (again, I think that's when it started), the volume "slider" has specific notches and can no longer be set to any volume along the spectrum. The lowest "notch" is too loud at night and keeps waking me up.
Anybody know of an app or setting or something that would revert this back to a free sliding volume switch, where I could go so low, almost to the point of barely hearing it? I was startled nearly out of my pajamas last night, when Van Morrison screeched something in the middle of a relatively sedate song.
Thanks in advance!

Hello, I have a regular pixel 3 and the ringtones/notifications are way too soft. I've noticed that if I'm playing a game or watching a video, the volume is great when notifications come through. Is there a way for notifications and ringtones to use the same audio channel (not sure if I'm using the right terminology here) that video and games use? I've read that it's "working as intended" per Google, and notifications and ringtones only play through the bottom speaker. Just trying to find a way to not miss so many calls when the phone is in my pocket.
Tldr: the notifications are too soft, and can it be fixed.?
