rooting may have been udone in reload? - Thunderbolt General

so i have a tb and rooted it. no problems there. i tried a few roms switched back to stock one . then tried to flash one and i got stuck on a boot animation. couldnt get anyting to work so i ended up taking it back to stock. ive seen in recovery mode it said s-on which i figured meant not rooted... but i still have the superuser app and stuff it just wont grant access to root apps that need permission like rom manager which wont flash or reboot into recovery or anything for me now. any suggestions.. what to do or try. i tried using the same root method that worked before but it wont work this time. the phone doesnt reboot when its supposed to after the first step.

S-on doesn't mean you've lost root, s-on is a bootloader unlock. Try going to tthe superuser app to see if some of the root apps are set to deny

nope, under apps there is nothing, logs has nothing, and the settings i looked through.... nothing

Can you boot into CWM?
Sent from my ThunderBolt using XDA Premium App

no i can boot into recovery but i cant flash a file of course, and all it tries to do is check the pmg005 zip file and do an update in which it doesnt even update everything.. or at least last time it didnt. so i was unsure if i should just go back to stock and then reroot

Why do you still have a pmg05.zip file at the root of the sdcard for it to scan? Need to delete, move, or rename that to get to clockwork recovery
Sent from my ADR6400L using XDA App

Sounds like you've missed a step or done something wrong to not get s-off
Sent from my ADR6400L using XDA App

haah youre probably right. i have already removed that zip file from the root directory, and i did have it set to s-off however after i reloaded (im assuming) thats possibly what is causing it. thanks for the help guys, much appreciated

ok so when i try to boot into cwm or recovery it wont even let me pick anything it just has hboot highlighted and tries to read the pmg005 zip file that is not there fails... then i can reboot, reboot hboot, but not do recovery to flash anything,

You have to redo the rooting procedure. It sounds like you flashed a shipped RUU and rewrote all the partitions.

i tried rerooting using the same 3 step method I found on Droid forums. it wouldn't reboot when its supposed to after step 1. should I just try another method

[Q] I am stuck on htc logo screen after updating radio and wimax

I recently just rooted my shift to rooted 2.2 them did a custom rom cm7.1.0 speedy everything went very well.....then i decided to update the radio and wimax....did that through bootloader with a pg06img.zip file containing both....udated fine then went to reboot and i got stuck on the htc screen.......when i did this with the stock rooted rom no problem....except it didn't update the radio etc......
if any body has any suggestions i would greatly appreciate it....thank you
This is covered in the radio thread.. Take the zip off the root of your sdcard, boot into recovery, wipe cache and dalvik, then reboot. If it still won't boot you may have to restore your nand, don't worry this won't revert back to the old radios.

stuck on htc screen
ok i seem to have fixed the problem with a little trick....the problem was that i had that pg601img.zip on my sd so every time i would try and go into the bootloader it would automatically load that file so i could not go to recovery could not delete it from sd via pc due to write protection so what it did let me do is rename the file.....so that it would let me chose recovery(clockworkmod recovery) so i could load my rom backup
still a noob

haha I hate when that happens.
I don't think that little trick is very obvious to most of us who flashed a radio our first time.

I'm new to this and having issues with rooting

I've followed a few guides here, but having no luck... Also I'm new to all this. Been on Android since Jan from iPhone.
I put on CWM and that seems to work. Then I tried loading Superuser from my SD card. After a few errors (warned and expected) it went through.
But them I couldn't install busybox or anything else like titanium. I finally gave up after a few things and recovered to right before I put superuser on. Now my phone wont power off. Thoughts?

sometimes the root wont stick, try it again or a couple more times yet.
you cant install tb? or does it say cant get root access?
no root access means no su binary were installed so install su again in your recovery keep doing this till it sticks.
do a battery pull then in your recovery wipe devlak catch, that should take care of the shutdown problem.

Flash phone with CWM use this one
Clockworkmod Touch 5.8.1.3 Odin tar http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1566613
Then wipe data/factory reset, format- system, data and cache, and clear the partition and dalvik caches, do that to all of them 3 times each, using touch cwm.
Then odin ICS download it from here http://www.sammobile.com/firmware/
(make sure only Auto Reboot is checked nothing else)
Once the phone loads go through the setup then leave it alone, let it sit for about 20min then flash back the CWM. Then download Superuser from here and put it on the root of your SD card then flash it in CWM if it fails just keep doing it until it works, it worked the second time for me.
Once superuser is installed install busybox from the market and everything will work.
This method worked perfect for me. The key is to wait about 20min after you flashed ICS before you do anything else.
Go into security and make sure "Unknown sources" is checked
Hope this helps you.

[HELP] Why is EZ Recovery not working

Ok so I'm stock rooted and I want to install CWM 6.0.1.0, so I downloaded Ez Recovery from the market and also the apk from the original post here on XDA. But it will not install CWM. I tried all the options. Recovery, Hybrid, and Stock, but when I flash them and it says it was installed successfully I press reboot it takes me to stock recovery every time.
Whats the problem???
Is it possible someone could provide me with a link to the recovery img file or tell me how to fix this problem?
Thanks
This may be obvious, but are you selecting reboot recovery from ez app menu?
Yes, when I flash my recovery I press reboot
Have you run the superuser app initially? I had similar behavior in which it said it flashed but still had stock recovery. The initial run of superuser got things going and when I ran ez recovery again it asked for root permissions and worked as expected...

I saw you post this in beans thread but I didn't have a fix but then I remembered how I fixed this on my phone. Uninstall ez recovery and reinstall from market. There was a problem with the version numbers or something and this fixed that problem for me

I was having the same issue as the OP and your advice did it for me! I went back to stock about 2 days ago and I was already getting bored with it.

Wondering if any of you guys have had the problem where it flashes the recovery successfully and you can reboot in CWM / TWRP just fine. Then once you get back into the system and try reboot recovery again, it goes straight to the stock recovery.
Is this normal? Do I have to flash the recover everytime?
There is something you need to do in recovery to make it persist, some option you need to select. I'm still not clear on what it is, because its been a long time since I used CWM. I hope someone will chime in with exactly what needs to be done to make it stick so I can be clear on it as well.

When you select reboot, it will tell you that it is reverting back to stock recovery unless you fix it. You scroll down and select yes and you are good to go.

This happened to me as well when I first rooted. I had to reboot a few times until the proper recovery booted. Now that I have flashed a Rom, CWM recovery boots properly every time.

Bricked Htc One S, stuck in bootloader and Clockwork recovery

Hi everyone,
i am so very new to this. here it goes. I tried to root my HTC One S and install cm9. well the root worked. I installed the cm9 rom. that looked like it worked too. so i went to turn the phone on and it booted up ok, showed the cm9 boot up animation, then the screen went completly white and stayed like that. well i booted up into clockworkmod recovery, did a factory reset (i also did a factory reset/clear storage in bootloader), and accidentally erased everything, i think. stock rom, cm9 everything. now i can only get the phone to boot up into the bootloader or clockworkmod recovery. so i think its bricked. it tried to install the tmobile ruu and that failed. idk what to do, im really nervous i wont be able to get my phone back. cwmr also says it cant mount sd card..when i plugged the phone in to the computer, devices menu says android and sometimes it says ville. If someone is able to give me step by step instructions on how to fix this, i would greatly appreciate it because i am freaking out. I have seen the term flash around the forums idk what that means or how to do it. i also tried forcing a new rom thru adb and that didnt work. i really dont know what to do at this point. I would greatly appreciate it, if someone can help me with this.
Thanks
Frank
My guess would be: flash the stock recovery via fastboot.
Then get a RUU and install it. (and you probably just had the white screen because u didn´t flash boot.img).

try to relock your bootloader with the all in one toolkit and after that, while your phone is in fastboot usb mode with the bootloader reloked, install the offial ruu for your phone. Try to find the download of the original ruu, it is an exe file, when you run it the phone must be connected in fastboot usb, if everything goes fine the phone should be back to stock.
Ok I will try tonight. Hopefully it works.

[Q] [HTC one SV][Help] Serious issues trying to unlock and flash

I followed the HTCDev site for unlocking my phone. Before locking it back, I flashed the clockwork from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2113671
I tried to make a backup from there but it was unable to mount system or much of anything. It made some level of backup but I am unable to get to it anyway.
I tried locking the bootloader but it said there was a security warning and wouldn't let me back into recovery so I unlocked it again. In recovery I tried to use the flash from zip option but it was unable to mount the sdcard
Now I am unable to do pretty much anything it seems. I feel like I need to get the default recovery back or something like that but I am at a loss.
Ruu or install twrp using hasoons aio.

I second that, run the all in one kit and flash TWRP
You're in the One forum, not the SV. Might have better luck there.
