yup they sure have a lot of dev support over there , that's what making me think about jumping ships over to the evo , here is like the devs don't care about the sensation at all..........

Yeah, the hardware is very similar between the two devices, there are good chances the same exploit will work on the Sensation!

Your very mistaken, there have been people spending countless hours in attempt to achieve root-just so happens that the group that achieved it were working on the evo 3d. Don't accuse the developers of not caring about HTC'S flagship device. Be appreciative

That's because there really isn't much of an option for different Android phones over on Sprint. Over here on Tmo USA there are a ton of different good options for android and the Dev support is split because of that. Many are taking a wait and see approach on the Sensation. Once we get root and S-off I think you will start seeing many more from the G2/Vibrant/MT4G/HD2 coming over to the Sensation. Has there been a phone that has historically had more Dev support than the EVO? Perhaps the HD2 but that's probably about it.

then you may know something that is not posted in the sensation forum because i have not read anything about a team of devs working on the sensation like in the evo forum they said who and when they started working on the evo 3d and keept everybody up to date on what was going on the way it was supposed to b.....

Like you I'm coming from the HD2, support there was incredible. Whether the Sensation gets that much support or not: there will still be a good amount of development.

Super excited! I just followed all of the guys from teamwin! Seems that they are working on s-off now. Might be a little bit before they release the root to make sure htc doesn't force an ota but just to know that they have the possibility is great! Thanks for the news!

i hope u r right but up to today i have not seen it and i think we all know that the s off will not come from htc is not the first time they said they r gone release something and nothing happens thats why we depend on the devs more then ever i just wish we had more dev support , its great that they almost have s off over at the evo forum but will it work with the sensation ? because if it doesn't we r back to square one ......

I'm confident that the exploit will work with the Sensation, considering the phones have the same hboot (correct me if I'm wrong). As to HTC lying about unlocking the devices, I think they will follow through and do so, just not fast enough for the community

i read over at the evo forum that it was device specific and i also read that it was an kernel exploid those two things tell me that it would not b the same for the sensation but im hopping that im 100% wrong and we can use it o ours sensation because thats all we have up to now ......
It seems that they used a pretty vicious attack to get root. So while it does seem to be device specific, im hoping that with the same amount of time and dedication, our beloved sensation make actually be rooted. For me, even temp-root would do for right now. ive only started my phone over once since i had it because it never dies on me. The only problem im forseeing is s-off. Shinzul said the hboot is definitely nand-locked, so I can't just push the eng hboot and win.
Will keep looking. I do however have great confidence in our devs.

thats what i was talking about , now if anyone can just tell me who or whom are the devs we have working on sensation s off ? i just will like to know because some people said there are some devs working on it but i have not read a dev thread were it saids the name of a dev team working on s off
Yeah, i haven't really read any threads about devs working on it. There was a thread asking if there were devs working and someone suggested that they werent announcing that they were so that people wont constantly pm them asking for an ETA. That doesnt really make sense since an exploit for the Sensation has yet to be found(or maybe just announced) so I would think that would start a thinktank thread but im guess not. Usually devs let you know that they are working with actually revealing exploit. So i dunno whats going on with that, I have been wondering the same.

All of you people are making the Dev's run away from the Sidekick 4G , they were willing to do work without the actual phone & now there not doing anything . There is 3 thread's of these open now & it get's dev's upset when you ask ETA or a Request , If you want a HTC Sense look alike Download HeLauncher & use the HTC Sense Skin & get a HTC Clock .

You'll never have Sense on the Sidekick 4G. If the Nexus S is closely related then maybe, otherwise no. And just like Revolution said, there were people willing to do work without the actual phone. I was going to, then I opted to buy the phone but after seeing this community i decided, hell no.
Yeah from the looks of it I don't even believe well even see a gingerbread rom or miui or cm7 at this rate. What a shame because I feel like ill have to get the mt4gs now.

He simply asked a question, it's his right, when people ask questions, it shows interest and points a direction for people to go in right? Not trying to be a kill-joy, but did anyone notice in the AlphaRev video, how the video went completely black between showing S-ON, S-OFF, and S-OFF AlphaRev? I'm just saying could it be possible that they just paused and swapped out an S-ON pyramid for an S-OFF, then ran AlphaRev on the S-OFF pyramid to get it AlphaRev S-OFF?

alpharev has a very stong reputation behind them so I highly doubt they would put out a fake video.
In my opnion, and due to my line of work, the video changing from black background to light back ground is 100% caused by the apature of the camera adjusting to the amount of light coming from the screen and not fake.
If alpharev put this video out to stop other devs from working on s-off or to grab the glory of getting s-off.... first off if Alpharev doesnt produce pretty soon other devs will pick it back up in a heartbeat, and second... If alpharev pulled a stunt claiming to have S-OFF and didnt actually have it, I would think their devs would get black listed on EVERY andoid dev forum.
Relax dude, if it's fake then AlphRevX will loose their good reputation and will be out a business real fast, don't think that they would make such a stupid thing.
My faith in HTC in the other hand is blown away, they are really acting like they have no feeling with their costumers any longer.

You know what? That was actually what I was thinking before also. That maybe they wanted to just say they did to stop others from working on it. The "leaked" video kinda further promoted my beliefs because as they are very secretive about their work (as they should be, exploits are a very serious matter), i couldn't imagine someone uploading a video to youtube and not expecting anyone to see it. If they wanted to make a video for their own purposes to document it then they would have uploaded it somewhere else, not youtube. But then I did my research and looked at their unwavering fan base and their previous work. While i do doubt that the vid "leaked" I know they have s-off because I believe in their talents and respect their craft after seeing what they could do. They are perfecting thier programs as they have done in the past. Would be no fun if they'd release they tool and have that overshadowed by people complaining about bricked devices. if they didn't their future work would be devalued, No dev wants that over their head. Even though they don't owe us s-off in any sense, I do believe they do kinda owe us a tested program if they are going to make the tool public. Just apart of the moral code.

Plus, I think many others think Alpharevx bluffed to stop other teams or had another motive. Don't get me wrong im no knocking anyone. Although, Hype is Hype and a sales pitch that seemed to knock freedom out of the game for a week or so... I dont know anymore or trust much of anyones word these days.

We're all waiting and hoping as well, and some of us have even pledged money to whoever can help us out, but for now we just continue to wait. The Sensation has been out for a bit longer now, and I'm sure in due time we'll get ROMs, but not soon enough... It's not that we CAN'T get ROMs, it's just that no one has developed one yet...
i wish theres a way to learn how to develop roms, cuz our phone is similar to the sensation, so there would be a slight changes to the ROMs they have no?
Yeah it seems like for the most part all we have is a newer H-Boot and probably not much else... I put a thread in the Sensation forums asking for a dev to try out the MT4GS but no luck so far...

This is the best place to start, it has just about all the resources you'll need. It's overwhelming at first, but just take it one step at a time and you can make some progress. I say all of that, of course, and I haven't actually done any dev work myself...
I already have a mt4gs stock ROM deodexed, debloated, optimized, busybox, and some other enhancements all ready in the works. I will also add a data app folder so the bloat can be easily removed. Just give me a week or so to get settled in. I'm coming over from the mt4g so patience will be needed. I think this mytouch slide I have is defective so I wanna test this ROM before i release it.

I would like to try a port as well, I have a MT4G slide, but it is my daily phone .
i love the default rom, running evil D: 's port on my G2
I would like to try MIUI on the MT4G slide, but with a rotating launcher.
CM7 + go launcher is pretty good as well, using Theme installer

this probably shows how much of a loved device the Sensation is among XDA devs...
just had a look over on Samsung Galaxy S and they have already 2 working ICS ports...with camera, face unlock and stuff...
didn't bother checking GS2...

I wont post a link to the page, but looking at Kmobs Google+, he posted a few pictures comparing his Sensation and Galaxy Nexus.
-In one picture he shows the 'about phone' screen on both phones. On Sensation, it looks like there is a color gradient, however its hard to tell. So MAYBE they have hardware acceleration working.
-Also if you read the 'mod version' it says CyanogenMod-9.0.0-RC0-Sensation-KANG. I'm a noob and Im not sure if the mod version will tell anything, but it says RC0 so maybe its Release Candidate status?
-One last thing I noticed is he has the same widget running when he compares homescreen, so he is kind or mirroring the two, but the Galaxy Nexus has the camera shortcut on the homescreen and Sensation does not. Not sure if that means its not working on Sensation, or if he just didnt put it there

lol. should compare date released and prices for devices. the longer the date the device was released and the cheaper price it is, it should have many devs and support for it. as our devices is quite new (not that new lol) but its like a decisive thing for devs really, if they want to get the sensation and create ports there or just go to the newest device there is on the market. but needless to say, we have plenty of devs here. its just a matter of enjoying whats there and being patient. so, stay on and relax

It seems like developement for the Sensation is slowly dying.Looks like all the good devs have jumped ship to newer phones It's kinda depressing since the phone is only 6 months old.I wish i could afford to buy a new phone every 6 months.

Sadly, but true....
We have a good collection of roms though, and we will be getting ICS regardless from HTC. I don't mind if devs jump ship.
Yeah, TripNiCE ROM is now Alpha 7.5, quite perfect and very stable.
It seems that we could have a stable release (or two if CM9/Kang release something too) till Christmas !

I think it is, many italian blogs have spoken about it
I am pretty happy to read this. Though I am quite sure this is not reliable, but if it is, then good for HTC. They're finally doing what they should have done, with unlockable bootloaders and updates. That profit drop was an eye opener for them.
I am even more excited about the other part, the Sensation family getting updated in February. This seems true, and it means that Sensation XL will be updated in less than a month and we'll have a port by march It'll help till the official update (if there is any)
PS - Congrats, you have created the future most popular thread in this section. This'll have so many pages by April, that you'll go crazy reading them

in April for Saga from htc..maybe that time i've already my Saga with CM9/VQ/MUI rom in full release n full tweaked to.....who knows??
but anyway..truly i'm very happy hear this now..
The time where my phone was totally stock i was happy to hear such news... but know im glad that i have my ics custom rom, which till april will be better than the orig rom from htc.

If this turns out to be reliable then I'll have to take back what I said about HTC! Really hope this turns out to be true. Not so much for the ROM, we'll have decent ports of that soon anyway, but it will be nice to have official kernel and source.

Kernel 3.0 would be a boon to AOSP ROMs too. HTC has been releasing kernel source codes regularly now, so if an update comes (and boy do i hope it does) you can expect ICS (especially Hardware Acceleration) to get a lot better.
Oh, and it will most probably be Sense 3.5 or 3.6, not 4.0 but no need to fret, with kernel source, Sense 4.0 port should be a piece of cake for our devs

However if this is false, I guess it will be my punishment for what I did last summer... I'll be getting a taste of my own medicine
(I made a fake HTC Facebook page saying the Desire S would officialy get sense 3.0... I got abuse here on the forum when it turned out to be fake!!)

THAT WAS YOU ?!?!?!?!?!?!! Lol that account raised my hoped to a very high level, only to be smacked right on to the ground. Evntually though, both sense 3 and unlockable bootloaders came to the desire s.

yeah man... haha ... I told you in the thread way back in Summer But i was still a new Desire S owner, so you guys wouldn't remember me
I certainly remember you asking loads of questions on the fanpage, and declaring to everyone it was fake!!
hehe, it was quite run running that page.
After HTC released the statement that it was fake, i quickly shut the page down. I was so scared, i thought HTC would have tracked me down and arrest me for spreading false information!!
