This is my fourth Android device, never had any problems rooting before.
Nexus S GT-9020 (I9020GSMH) on Orange UK
Following this guide http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=895545
Successfully unlocked bootloader
Successfully flashed clockworkmod Recovery 3.0.0.5
Successfully installed SU using su-2.3.6.1-ef-signed.zip (from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=682828)
The problem is on every boot i go into clockworkmod recovery. On every reboot i go into recovery, except when choosing "Reboot Recovery" when it gets stuck at the Google screen.
I have tried re-locking and unlocking again, which shows no error, but then back into recovery.......
What have I dont wrong?
Please can anyone help
Thanks
You could've flahshed your recovery into boot. Only fix is a nandroid or flash a new rom.

I have rooted my nexus one and tried to flash a custom rom. I performed following steps:
1. Rooted as per the instruction. After applying the commands It was ready
2. Installed a custom recovery image with recovery-RA-nexus-v1.7.0.img and it was successful. After rebooting i went in to boot loader mode and took a nandroid backup.
3. Then downloaded a custom rom and placed all radio(radio-4.06.00.12_7), Google App(gapps-hdpi-FRF91-signed), CyanogenMod 6(update-cm-6.0.0-N1-RC2-signed) in to my root of the SD card.
4. Rebooted with recovery mode (holding volume down and power) and selected recovery and it rebooted but got a orange !(symbol) with android and nothing happens.
Please any one help me to how to resolve this. I tried once again installed a custom recovery with the same image. But no luck
Try to reflash CM or restore nandroid backup and then reflash CM
stuck in bootload

I tried using superboot to root my nexus s, but ended up with having a stuck google screen upon reboot.
Is there anyway I can recover my phone to the original state. I can get into the boot screen by pressing up volume and the power button and I have downloaded an original rom; however, I don't know how to upload this rom
into the phone.
I unlocked the bootloader, and have the android SDK installed. I do have a response when I use the command "fastboot devices"
Is there any possible way to save my phone? Please help, Thanks in advance
is there a recovery image saved under the recovery option?
Hey I'm having the exact same problem as the OP.
I don't have a recovery image saved in recovery, so I tried to flash the latest CWM recovery image through adb, but the device isn't found.
My phone was rooted, then upgraded to 2.3.4, then got 2.3.6 OTA, but lost root. Tried to root with Superboot and now my phone's stuck.
How can I get my phone to work again?

You have to flash CWM using fastboot, not adb.
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
Once you have the custom recovery flashed you can flash superuser in CWM to get root back or just flash one of the custom ROMs that include superuser.
Yes, I did exactly that.
I really have no idea what I'm doing so I'm extremely grateful for people who do.
Thanks
I am in the same boat as these other chaps. After installing the 2.3.6 OTA update I tried to root with Superboot and now my Nexus S just sits on the Google screen with the open padlock.
I've tried installing CWM recovery, as well as the boot.recovery.img that comes with Superboot, and it seems to install successfully. After rebooting my phone still sits on the Google screen, however.
Am I doing something wrong here (I'd previously rooted with few problems)?
EDIT: I should mention that after flashing the .img I'm trying to boot into recovery - at this point it just sits on the Google screen.
EDIT 2: Never mind, I sorted it. I tried using a different recovery.img (from this thread) and I was then able to get into recovery and restore a backup.
Hi guys!
Yesterday I successfully rooted my NS (it is a European SLCD model with stock 2.3.6 on it) following the newest guide on nexusshacks.com. So I ended up with TWRP recovery.
Then I thought the easiest to install CM is via Rom Manager. Therefore I had to change recovery for CWM. (I flashed the latest one.)
And here comes my question: why am I unable to flash CM?
First I tried it in Rom Manager, after wiping everything and rebooting system nothing happens, except for a big yellow exclamation mark.
Then I downloaded the proper CM myself and I tried to do the whole process manually in recovery menu. After wiping and choosing update from SD card I get a message like the process is aborted.
I also tried with an older CWM and with other ROM.
Any suggestions?
Thanks a lot

Boot into bootloader, then flash recovery via fastboot.
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
stock firmware will rewrite your recovery after each boot. flash recovery then flash this right after.
Follow what SEAN SAys..............He is a Master in all these , and he helped me with details to root, flash cwm, make it sticky and flash custom ROMS.
It took me 5 minutes to do all those , and Now I am switching Roms like I switch my underwears every day twice.
I must say, Sean has the best possible way which is like a finger click.
All,
I'm rooted and unlocked. The weirdest thing I'm experiencing is that in both the EZ Recovery and Rom Manager, when I select to reboot into recovery, I'm not booting into ClockworkMod. I'm booting into stock recovery I think. The only time it would boot into ClockwordMod is when I flash touch clockwork mod then it would boot into the correct recovery.
Do I need to flash the Touch ClockworkMod every time I want to boot into recovery? Thats annoying.
Please help.
Thanks!
If you boot into stock recovery by selecting reboot recovery then CWM is simply not installed. Are you selecting the correct option in ez recovery to install the recovery?
I'm good now. I was on stock, but was rooted and unlocked. Like I said, it would work if I flash the recovery, but if I reboot into recovery again without flashing it would go back to stock recovery.
Anyways, I've flashed to CleanRom 4.0 and tested rebooting into recovery and sure enough it went to the ClockworkMod Recovery. So looks like I"m good.
It will do that on stock rom unless a couple of files are modified I believe. Doesn't do it on custom roms.
I had the stock 4.1.2 rom on my i9020a nexus s. I then wanted to downgrade to 4.0.3. My phone is rooted and i have SU and cwm recovery.
I downloaded the wrong rom (i downloaded 4.0.3 rom for i9020T) and i flashed it. I found out i flashed the wrong rom afterwards.
Now, i can't boot the phone into recovery, i have lost SU and cwm recovery. I've even tried using adb shell -> su and it did not recognize it. When i tried using bootloader into recovery, an android with a red exclamation mark just showed up.
I have even tried to use fastboot to flash recovery and it just gets stuck at 'waiting for device'. I am 99% sure i have all the drivers installed too
Is there a way i can fix this? I tried to flash cwm recovery again but nothing happens.
I have a nandroid backup of the original 4.1.2 stock but i dont know how to restore it if i am not able to boot into recovery. please help!!
Can u get into boot loader mode?
