Will MyBackupPro or Titanium Backup do this?
Lets say i get a new android phone, and want to backup/restore contacts with contact the contact thumbnails. Going to be a drag adding 200 pictures each time i change phones
bump!
need one as well
"Yes, MyBackup Pro will also backup the contacts icon picture."
Found that on android forums.
http://androidforums.com/htc-desire...pictures-before-factory-reset.html#post854116
Seems MyBackupPro will do the job then.
If anyone can confirm this, id be greatfull.
Also found this:
"If your contacts are Google ones then the details and photos will be re-synced back to you phone after the update, Have a look at your Gmail account on a pc and check. "
Any way to easy convert phone contacts to google contacts? (Cant find Contactsync anymore on market, this app should do the trick)
I have alot of contacts, and dont want to do each one manualy. I tried to set up contacts sync to make it sync with gmail, but it will only sync google contacts it seems.
Can someone point me in the direction of a guide, or list a way to completely backup my sensation.
Say I wiped my phone and I need it back as it was, the apps I have on the phone are, app2sd, app backup & restore, Titanium backup Pro, ext4 backup.
also, how do I backup my contacts online?
Hi
Concerning your contacts, when you do the quick-configuration process at the phone start, your contacts are restored on your phone, check that your contacts are "Google" contacts not phone contacts, because they're linked with your google account.
With titanium (root required) you can restore all your apps with data (settings and savegames for example).

Titanium Backup is really good for all applications.
Check this link out might be helpful.

Google has integrated contacts with android very well. I suggest not to use any other applications to backup your contacts just leave it on android.
It is little difficult in starting but then it will make your life lot easy
Just open Gmail in your pc browser then all your contacts you can import to gmail by your pc. edit first name and numbers as you like...... here we go your all contacts are saved to google accout for lifetime whenever you flash new rom or get new android phone first time when you login in to your google accout in phone all contact will be syn. within 30 seconds.

That's right! You can merge your contacts, they doesnt have to be "gmail" contacts or anything, you can simply change the "contact type" when you edit a contact then make it "Google" on your android phone

Alot of contacts equals alot of editing, eh?
Lucky me, I only have "regular" contacts and export the lot to the sd-card.
Stupid or paranoid, you decide, but I want to be in total control of
who/what that can have access all my data, don't want to Googlefy to simplify.
But good to know the above tips'n'tricks if my mental state changes
I have uploaded all my contacts onto googlemail.
But I have a few duplicates, is there a way to only show the googlemail contacts and not the duplicates on the phone, or sim?

Yes, with Sense 3.6 by touching the "Phonebook" on the top of your contacts lists.
Maybe with the menu button in previous versions i don't remember..

I prefer to use 4ext recovery backup. You will have a nandroid backup of your whole phone. incl. your installed apps, contacts, etc. In case of a wipe you can easily restore the backup and your phone will be in the same state as it was. It is a good idea to do a nandroid backup before any change on the phone

And my way is the senior-citizen way, but IMO the BEST way
I use mybackup pro to backup apk+data at the same time.
Sent from my HTC Sensation 4G using xda premium
go to your gmail account, go to your contacts, delete the duplicate contacts, I had the same issue a while back, this fixed it. ENJOY!

Maybe i'll change my mind too
Anyway, the decision is yours markd_htc, hope i helped
Just download Titanium Backup, go to applist, Press "Menu" Then Batch and choose backup of everything.
I've searched and searched and can't find any threads talking quite about the issue I'm having. I'm not having an issue with the sync on my contacts working, but in fact, I need them deleted. I need to delete my contacts from Google's cloud and VZ Backup's cloud.
I'm using a stock VZ GS3 (Not that it should matter) and when I imported all of my contacts from my previous phone, I wound up with around 1100 contacts, when I actually only have around 250, they quadrupled. All of my backups synced the copies, and now, I've went through and manually deleted the extras twice, but the clouds keep restoring them all!
I know for Verizon Backup Assistant, you go to their website, login, yata yata yata and it should allow me to delete my cloud contacts, only issue
with that being is that it shows no contacts backed up.
With Google, something terribly dumb has happened, and rather than syncing all of my contacts as listed people, all of my contacts restore as unassigned groups. I can access all of the contact info, and even delete them directly from the cloud, but the issue there is it takes about 4 clicks to delete an unassigned group, and if the group is "unassigned," it can only be done one group at a time.... I have 1100 of these on my phone. -_-
Thanks!
I dont know what i'm doing wrong but hoping someone can tell me. Whenever i save a contact I save it as a google contact. I store the number but if i flash a new rom I lose that contact I saved. I tried going into settings>accounts&sync and syncing all the accounts to see if it saved it but when I go on my pc and check my google contacts it doesnt appear. What am I doing wrong? Ive lost many numbers I needed....

I have the same problem and have solved it by backing up my contacts on both my phone and my google account and then restoring them after booting the new ROM. I also use the backup with the contact program and I use GO launcher as my "menu manager". I use the GO Backup tool as a third level of backup. Any other method from anyone else would be useful as it is bit of a messy solution. BUT it does stop me losing contacts. I have also used the Microsoft Outlook tool as yet another backup when I sync. Can't have too many backups when the gremlins are out get your contact list.
Anyone?
Hi,
I have my Sensation rooted and I have CWM installed and the ROM Manager app. I had to go back to a backup I made with the ROM Manager app the other day and from experience I've found that if I restore to a backup a few weeks old I lose the contacts added in the intervening time and also all the text messages I've received since the backup.
I have from experience remembered to back up the contacts and the text messages using the inbuilt contacts backup and text message back up functions. I don't back my contacts up to my GMail account because there are years worth of duff contacts and crap in there that I don't want synch'd to my phone so I rely on backing them up myself. With me so far? Good.
Ok, I restored the phone to the 2 week old back up and obviously I have lost the new contacts and new text messages as I expected so I restored the contacts from backup. Mistake number one was forgetting that the restore doesn't check to see if the contact already exists, it merely adds a duplicate so I had to delete all the contacts and restore them back. No problem. I did the same with the text messages. One reboot later and the text messages app picked up the contact names rather than showing the numbers and I'm now back up and running with a stable phone with the latest contacts and text messages.
My problem is that for some stupid reason the contacts backup doesn't seem to remember what groups people were in. It remembers the groups just fine but they're now all empty. Any ideas what I am doing wrong?
Cheers,
/snert
