Okay so my sister just bought a HTC Sensation yesterday, she's not that Techy at all and I just came home from work...
She tells me that her sound doesn't work anymore, and I go to help her and try to fix it but I can't find any setting that controls this problem.
The sound is working perfectly in the headphones when they are plugged in, but the built in speaker for the phone doesn't work at all.
It won't even let me play a song without there being any sound, it just automatically pauses until I plug headphones in.
There isn't even any sound when she recieves a phone call or SMS...
I'm sure it's probably just a setting, but I can't seem to be able to find it, hopefully you guys can help me out.
Thanks a bunch!
Do you have the profile set to silent?

Here's my issue... I have a kensington bluetooth headset that pairs as both phone and media headset. If I'm playing mp3s and receive a call, it'll pause the player and answer the call. After I hung up, the music player will continue to play the music, but I stop hearing anything from the headset, even when the phone still shows that it's paired and functioning.
I've tried different music players and they all had the same problem.
I tried dialing a number out in the middle and hang up before anyone answers, and that works as the music will pick up after. The problem seems to only occur if a successful phone connection is made.
I don't think it's a problem with the headset because it used to work fine when I had my iphone 3G. And the music player will continue to play if I don't pair it with my headset.
Could someone else test this and report your findings?
I have the saame problem when connecting via bluetooth to my car stereo... I have to shut the bluetooth off on the stereo and turn it back on before it will work again... the control from the stereo will work but no audio comes from the phone or stereo

Same here, player keeps going but I don't get any sound out of my headphones. Have to toggle bluetooth off/on in order for it to work again.
Anyone have suggestions on how to resolve this?

I found that it has to do with the stock rom. I flashed the Desire Z rom and it resumes fine... Odd they didn't correct this in a OTA.

I'm now on CM RC2, and yesterday I received a call while driving on bluetooth and the music resumed after the call... so I guess it's fixed!
Have I got one for you. I got a new Samsung 4G Droid Charge. I can't receive calls if it's plugged in to play music through the car. If someone calls I can see it on the display and answer but no ring nor can I hear them but they can hear me fine. I was in the car a moment ago trying to figure this out when the wife called. I picked her and the music up on Bluetooth. Even she could hear the music. When she hung up the music stopped too. I'm wondering now if
a Bluetooth portal will work. This could be a sign that it would for sure but since the music didn't mute maybe not. What do you think about this?

Hello
I have the sensation and as per the plantronic voyager bt hd. Do I get a call ringing purely with the music bt not like the phone but also some which are all low tones. mp3 wav've tried instead to accept or change the ringtone to 15 seconds but all to no avail. Have also tried a2pd app or other apps to do what they like with profiles setting. Help how do I get to the same music in the headset to listen to is. Because I use the Nokia n 97 then as that! Help please.
I hope google has translated well
nowbudy can help me
Your post is hard to understand. I'm getting that you are either having trouble with your BT headset or your are having trouble with the length of your ring tone. Or possible both. If it is the ring tone , download ringdroid from the market. If it is with connecting your Bluetooth to a a2dp device, i can't really help because i haven't tried myself...
Sorry i couldn't help any further.

I downloaded several Voice Recognition apps to use while driving. However, it seems that Voice Recognition doesn't work at all on this phone while it is in the Car Dock.
I'm using the official Motorola Car Dock, and it plays audio through my stereo fine. Voice calls are coming through the speaker, not outputting through the dock.
I know my issue is not a background noise problem, because even a few minutes after I take it out of the dock, I get an error message if I try to use the voice recognition. It would seem that something about being in the dock is blocking this functionality.
I've tried it while on the Blaze rom, Sonya, SCV6, and stock. None of them work. So I'm thinking this is probably a hardware issue.
Is anyone else experiencing this problem? Also, has anyone figured out how to get call audio to go through the usb to the stereo?

Have you tried skyvi? It supposedly supports cardock mode.
I've noticed a similar problem with some apps, but the built-in Voice Search app works fine while in the dock. So I don't think it's a hardware dock problem. I've been trying to figure out a pattern of what doesn't work.
What app are you trying to use?
And did you have any Bluetooth devices connected when you tried the apps?
The latest one I tried was Vlingo, but I couldn't get it to work when my phone was paired with my car audio via Bluetooth. My theory is that Vlingo was only waiting for audio to come through BT, and was ignoring the built-in mic. But the way the car works, audio would never come through that way, so I could never get it to work unless I turned off my BT.
Just my 2 cents.
You should be able to have your calls route through the dock if you turn speaker phone off. I have llama or whatever turn speaker off when it's in the dock and a call comes in or is made.
As for the voice recognition, I've used the Google voice actions, vlingo, and Dragon dictation just fine while in the dock. I'm pretty sure all of them need a data connection to work. Also, make sure the phone's mic can pick up your voice.
Sorry, I don't have any other advice to get it to work. Let me know if you want me to try things on my dock. I'm currently using stock odexed rooted and themed, but I've used other roms fine too.

I find that the search apps work just fine when using the car dock. The microphone doesn't seem to have any issue picking up my voice that way.
My problem is that nobody can hear me when I turn off the speaker phone and run the phone call audio through the speakers. Everyone says it's like I'm talking in a tunnel. I actually haven't tried it by using he speaker phone in the dock just because I can't hear the other person while driving, however, indications from using the speakerphone at home are that the speakerphone microphone (near the ear piece) just doesn't cut it. In he end, I usually just turn on my bluetooth headset and talk that way.
Does anyone else have an issue with the microphone trying to use the phone in speakerphone mode? Does anyone know how to increase the gain on the microphones while on the phone?
Having a problem when making calls on bluetooth. The phone shows ringing on the other end but makes no ringing sound on my end. I can tell the other person has picked up but still no sound. The other person hangs up. I call back and then the call works fine. I have searched and not found anything besides clear bluetooth cache which doesn't show that option. Any suggestions as it has happened several times? Today is day 14 with the phone and hard to love it but hard to return it as well.
When I connect to my car's BT radio or my living room's BT speaker I am given the option to allow Phone, Media or both. I don't want to pick up calls via the speaker so I disable Phone. On my car I want to both be able to pick up calls and play music so I leave both options enabled.
Have you checked what options you have selected under BT settings?
