Just as the title says my wife wanted an iphone so we moved to att and my question is what is ATT version of the evo?
I looked on htc web site and the closest thing I can find is the ATT inspire.
Any suggestions?

I would say the HTC Inspire is the closest thing to it for AT&T

I would agree with jumpman1229, The HTC Inspire 4G is probably the closest thing. I just picked one up and pretty slick. They were really pushing the Samsung Infuse 4G, but I didn't want to pay the $199. I think the Samsung Infuse 4G is the newest one they threw out.
tell you what id do. I would get the htc sensation for tmo and unlock it to att. or wait for the world version of the evo 3d. but if you are trying to buy a subsidized phone then I would go with the inspire. Although it has no kickstand, no front facing camera, and it is buggy as hell. my friend has one and sometimes cant make a call without resetting it. he had att switch it out for him and it still has the problems.
I would ditch att for verizon. their network is better and the android choices are better. the thunderbolt is the evo.
Yeah I would have prefered verizon but my wife made the decision for fathers day ect. And honestly I would have kwpt the iphon but for some of the little things just mot included in the ATT base IOS.
I did go get the inspire so far seems good gonna keep it and just pay retail for an evo 3D when I can get it for ATT. or any dual core phone really.
Thanks for the heads up though.

Ok, it's said that we are getting the Pyrimid, We are def getting the G2x and now it seems the LG 3d phone passed the fcc with tmo 3g bands and is the first dual core dual channel phone.. I really would like to get a phone that dual core when they are available but with this att deal it doesnt make sense to buy a new phone. From what I read ATT plans on using the TMO 3g frequencies for it's LTE network which means current tmo 3g phones will no longer work as 3g. Granted this is going to take a while to happen but does it really make sense to get a new device now or even in a few months when there is a possibility it wont fully work in a year? hmmm

I'd look at the HSPA+ bands. I think they are doing to be coming out with ATT and T-Mobile bands included. IF that is the case then jump on board.
Apparently the G2X will have ATT hspa+ bands as well

Lol so when this is all going down (if it does) I might migrate to the G2X..looks like solid hardware to me. I love my mt4g tho. I'm sad to see the big launch phone for their 4G advertising have its life span altered. Granted according to most the fact stands that we have a year before the deal even possibly gets approved and even then we're talking 2013-15 before tmo 1700 mhz is completely shut down.

Thanks for the link. If the same bands will be present on the Pyramid, I won't have any reservations about buying it.
And at&t said we can keep our plans

I was planning to upgrading from MT4G to Pyramid as MT4G for me was never official upgrade as it was quick replacement due to my HD2 being stolen. Now don't confuse upgrade and replacement with plan and insurance BS as I do pay my phone direct and paid $750 for Leo1024 got it 4months before it came out in TMoUS officially and paid $450 for MT4G.
I for one will not support TMobile and pay for HTC Pyramid even when if its has quadband radio and will support on AT&T. If the POS panzy dutch mofo's are selling it I for one will do pure boycott and I do hope they lose so much money that AT&T don't buy TMo as it looks very unattractive. I know I am very angry ATM as I am screwed both ways click here for my #1 reason can you call that double penetration?
I dont care, the pyramid will be my upgrade when it comes up in three months the 4.3 size is just the right size for me

With or without contract? Make sure this is what you want as you will soon deal with DeathStar if you don't switch to someone else. I do miss the 4.3" and most device that does have it on GSM are SamSUX based or HTC based on CDMA so I was looking forward to this until the BS merge of at&Tmobile.
Despite the selling of T-Mobile?

I don't think anyone can truly answer this for you though, which is why the atrix vs inspire threads keep popping up. In the end you'll have to weigh the pros and cons of the features and networks and decide what's best for "you"

I love the Inspire but HTC with a dual core snap dragon running army 1.2ghz,sounded kinda interesting. But your right. Atrix was a huge fail, thanks for advice.

When I got my Inspire I knew that there would be more dual core options later in the year. But I've got another upgrade due in August I figured I would sell the Inspire at that time if there was a good alternative then. I bet there will be an At&t variant that will be out by the end of the 3rd quarter. I don't think the Sensation will be the steaming pile of fail that the Atrix is and it will have a 1520 mAh battery.
When I look at the spec's it's basically an Inspire with the DC SD, a better screen and they found the room for the bigger battery. Add Gingerbread and Sense 3.0 out of the box and it looks like a Dev's dream. By then they'll be cooking IC Sandwich roms.
I'm sure it all will be ported to inspire.

haha I just read the last replies and i think, it's so funny how most guys here from the states always worry about the network . I mean who cares what phone you can get with At&t and which one with verizon. You can get pretty much every single phone to work with every single carrier. Just buy a phone without simlock and buy the plan from whatever network you want.
Anyway, dont know why i just brought that up again, i guess cause im german and i never ever bought a phone directly from a carrier before

It doesn't work like that.
AT&T and T-Mobile phones are not compatible with Verizon or Sprint. The opposite is true.
Verizon phones are not compatible with Sprint. The opposite is also true.
Even within GSM (AT&T and T-Mobile), they use different frequencies. AT&T is 1900MHz, while T-Mobile is 1700MHz. It's exceptionally rare to find a 3G GSM phone that works on both carriers.
So, yes, it is important to consider the network in the US, because you probably won't be able to take that phone to any other carrier and still get 3G.
should i wait 4 the evo 3d im using spint or go 4 the atrix?
What phone do you have now? Allthough the Atrix is an OK phone its still on AT&T so I wouldnt change carriers for that. Its my opinion Sprint has much better cust service and a better network (I know someone is going to disagree). Maybe not the best but better. I have the EVO now and I dont see how much better it could possibly get. I just think that for 500 dollars you can get a Dual core LAPTOP if thats why you are getting the phone.
I wouldnt do it just because AT&T cust service sucks. And anyone who disagrees with my statement about sprint heres my pre response. What other carrier gives new customers a 30 day FREE trial of thier network? Usually your in a contractand you have to pay your cancellation fee or something. Also for existing customers - I get a full rebate every 12 months towards a new phone as if i was a new customer. How bout it verizon?
And before you get on verizons service they use the same technology (CDMA) they roam on each other.
thanks. and i have the evo as well i agree with you so in my mind already leaning to the 3d. i was on att with the 3gs ......... hated every wasted minute with that company
then i say 3d but either way come back and let me know which one and what your experience was!
I hate to be that guy.. but i came from nextel to sprint, I will agree that there customer support is good. but the service even though sprint owns nextel or whatever is terrible in the chicago land area.
Im going with evo 3d I have evo 4g now and LG op S I played with my friends atrix and I also was told about a personal experience with the sga2 and it wasn't what I thought it would be at all nexus s no was so yea I pre ordered the 3d now waiting for a date lol

Hey everyone,
I was just curious, if you had the chance to go with whatever carrier and get any android phone...which one would you go with?? What is the best choice?
Sent from my PC36100 using XDA App
I would go with what ever carrier had the latest and greatest nexus Google phone.
If money wasn't an issue i would go with the SGS2...
Unlocked SGS2
Motorola Photon.
SGSII VERIZON
Trust me d-..-b im from the webs
Interesting reading following the topic of the SGS2

Exactly this^
If I was grandfathered in for unlimited Data at Verizon, and the SGSII had an LTE radio on Verizon, It would be the greatest possible scenario.
But because I am not on unlimited Verizon, I'll have to say SGSII on Sprint.
I'm currently on SGSII Unlocked with AT&T, and I'm not too impressed with them. The phone itself is fantastic though.
I would not go with AT&T simply because of the horror stories I have heard from some of their customers. That may seem somewhat ignorant, but having worked with both T-Mobile and Verizon, I don't believe I could go with any other carrier. T-Mobile's cutomer service is ridiculously good, and Verizon's coverage is amazing.
That being said, phones play a certain role in this decision making process as well. While I would not necessarily choose a different carrier simply because they had the phone I wanted, it would play a heavy role in my decision making process.
All of that considered, the setup I have now, an HTC Thunderbolt with Verizon, couldnt be better.
Galaxy SII, any network...
galaxy s2 hercules! a variant of the s2. its not even out yet, I dont have any preference for carrier though. we don't have AT&T Verizon and other big providers here
Thanks for the discussion guys! I want exactly sur what to do ..
Looks like I'm going with the SGS2 ha ha

Motorola Photon.
I really hope the announcement next Monday is for SGSII on Verizon. I'd hate to be stuck with the bionic...
The best option now is the Samsung GALAXY S II from a hardware point of view or the HTC Sensation if you like the HTC Sense interface.
I am currently on Tmobile and can't really wait for their new demi-god version of the Infuse 4G, so I was thinking of buying a unlocked Infuse 4G and popping my Tmobile sim in it...But, I look on here and see that it has had some not so good reviews. Frankly it is this or the G2x, but I am hoping that they are getting Ice Cream Sandwich...
Btw I currently have a Samsung Vibrant...
going from a galaxy s phone to an infuse is not a worthwhile upgrade imo, i would wait for the hercules or sgs 2
I'd wait till sept. tmo is gettibg the best sii phone made so far

Want to talk about bad reviews peek into the g2x channel. I came from a g2x to the infuse and it was the best decision I ever made. The g2x is the biggest pos I ever owned, hands down. Granted the Hercules is the next level of android devices but as of now, in my opinion, the infuse walks all over the g2x.

can you explain/substantiate a little more?
why you think s2 is pos?
Edit:
my bad.
it is g2x not s2
He's referring to the LG G2x not the Galaxy S II.
And if you're on T-Mo, you should definitely wait for the Hercules.
The Infuse is a 2010 phone in nice clothes.
Wait for the Hercules. The two aren't comparable.

The Infuse with a custom ROM is a great device on AT&T.
However it's limited to EDGE on T-Mobile, so I would not purchase it for T-Mobile use. This goes for nearly any AT&T phone by the way - AT&T phones that support the AWS band are the exception and not the norm.
