I am not sure why but I dropped one folder from an artist (29 songs) onto my phone and it took about 7-10 minutes just to put 29 songs...even if I put 200 of my favorite songs it would take close to an hour?? is this unusual?
Depends on the file size and how you're syncing the music. Are you connecting the phone directly to your computer or are you plugging the sd card directly to your computer. In my experience plugging the sd card directly into the computer makes for faster data transfers.

I transfered some pics to the phones internal storage using it as a mass storage. about 1000 pics and it took about 30 min. not only did it take long but they dont look the greatest on my phone. Am i doing something wrong? is there a better/faster way of transfering? using windows Vista btw.....
I put movies, music, pics, and other videos on my micro sd card and just insert that into the phone. Works perfectly fine!
thankfully my laptop has a built in card reader so i just use that to transfer files to an external micro sd card. its much faster than transferring over usb.
You could also install Swiftp and FTP to your phone over wireless.
The cable works well in my opinion and you need it to access the internal storage, If you go the card route make sure you unmount first or any open apps will immediate crash if they rely on any data on the card.
the other nice thing about the internal card is that you can keep all your app data on that and your media on the external and it keeps everything nice and clean.
and ofcourse when your external is full just continue on to the internal
if you use cubed (^3) for mp3, its awesome and can auto find album art, it'll automatically add from both sources
Unfortunately it won't be free forever, but it might be worth the investment. Doubletwist is a pretty excellent application. It's basically Itunes for Android.

that sounds like abnormally long write times.
Is your computer old? does it support usb 2.0?
have you enabled developer's console on your android and mounted your sd card via the notification menu when plugging your phone into your pc?
lastly, download samsung kies and get their drivers for the phone as well..
yes its 2.0. its an HP about 2 years old. maybe i didnt mount it, i cant remember. I just dragged and dropped. Wasnt sure if its an advantage using Kies or just doing the drag and drop method. Also is it better to keep everything off the internal if possible or does it matter? Just wondering how everyone transfers. tried to drop 3,000 songs the other day and it was like 3 hours! not at home right now so cant try it.
Need some help with this. I have a trail camera for watching deer in the woods. It has a SD card adapter with transflash card in it to record the photos on. I have an android phone with transflash card. But if I swap them out I lose my custom ringtones I have set up for everyone. Is there some way I can get those photos onto my cell phone without having to bring the trail camera home and download the photos?

Only Way I Can Think Of Is To Connect To Your Computer For Transfer, Either That Or Email Them To Yourself, Then Go To Email From Your Phone! Also I Would Recommend Making A SDCard Backup On A Computer, In Case Of Losing Files, Say (Ringtones)

What I was thinking was a male to male mini usb cable. But I guess the phone doesn't have the drivers to read from another usb device.

What if you just copy the custom ringtones to the internal memory of your phone with a file manager, swap the cards and then copy them back to the card?
Hey guys. I had a lot of problems with USB Mounting myself so I tried all sorts of things to fix it. However, there actually is an easier way. A lot of stores sell microSD + adapters for really cheap especially for 2 GB and those have no problems being read by the computer. So if you have a SD slot, there is that solution.
It's very inconvenient to turn off your phone, take off the back cover, take out the battery, take the sd card out, put it in the reader, transfer the files, put the card back, battery back, cover back, power up, then do what you need to.
What problems are you having?
For small files I just use Dropbox to transfer.

ssh/sftp, wireless adb
I just turn on wifi for my phone, then connect with my home computer to the ipaddress via ssh on the command line or secure ftp with some sort of ftp client that supports sftp (filezilla or some desktop environments support it natively, like linux ones).
If your computer has ssh server set up (easy to do in linux or if you're on windows, then i reccomend installing the package from cygwin), then you can connect from your phone to your computer as well to grab files and such (and do so anywhere, not just over wifi).
I use a usb card reader just as backup incase I can't get to a *img.zip to keep my bootloader from executing it.
I have a micro usb cable plugged into my laptop dock. On my phone, I installed the app "Auto Mount USB". Then I just plug in my phone. One quick motion.
Much easier than prying open the battery cover, taking out the battery, taking out the microSD, putting it into my microSD to regular SD adapter, and finally (whew) putting that into my laptop's SD card slot.
I've recently installed an app called WebSharing Lite from the market. It basically starts a webserver on the phone that you can access via browser from any PC on the same wifi network. From there you can move files around etc. Works awesome.

i used to use bluetooth file transfer. now i use dropbox even for files as big as 88mb ive used it. downloading it over 4g takes about a minute and a half.
i would just upload them to a storage site then download it to my desktop
You can just use recovery under mounts and storage then mount as usb storage. Allot easier and faster.

SD card adapter is nice when youre having phone troubles...
I thought about using SSH on my phone, just haven't taken the time to set it up. i SCP files around at work all the time...
It's pretty easy to do if you just want to use a gui frontend (few apps on the market).

since you already know what you're doing, should be up and running in 10-20mins
Wifi file explorer is also a really nice option. It's what I use and I can't complain about it. Simple apply that doesn't require actually mounting the sd card so you can still access anything on the phone and the computer simultaneously.
the kernel devs have found a fix for it. you have to connect to PC using internet passthrough let it intall the drivers and then moust usb storage that worked for me
Just switched over from the rezound and wondering what the easiest way of copying my pics over would be? Seems like the drivers are different in terms of how this thing syncs up. Using win 7 64 bit and i get errors when just trying to move the files over to the SD card to the point where i have to unplug and plug the cable back in..
Thought i would be able to just plug this thing into the computer after installing the drivers and see the sd card automatically as a drive to move stuff freely to but doesnt seem to be the case.

This phone had MTP which windows supports natively. Should be able to view the internal and external cards immediately if you have the right drivers installed. It won't mount like a straight sdcard mount to the computer, on your computer it will look more like it has mounted your entire phone.

I received my Pro yesterday and have been unsuccessful in transferring my music to my phone. I currently have a Galaxy S8 with 19gb of music on my SD card. Unfortunately, just popping in the SD card to the OnePlus is not an option. I have a Mac and have tried using Android File Transfer, but after a few gigs it just locks up. I also tried using Airdroid and it locks up also. How the hell do I get my music on this damn phone? I have enabled USB file transfer on the OnePlus. The OnePlus switch app worked well for transferring everything else, but I could not find a way to use it to transfer from my S8 SD card. Any help would be appreciated.
use ShareIt.. or Mi Drop... both are great apps to transfer anything u want from any device to another .-.
Copy all necessary files from your sdcard onto your computer using an SD card reader, and then zip it up into a single file using 7-zip or the native archive application on your computer. Then connect your new phone to your computer in MTP mode and copy the single file onto it. Disconnect the phone and then unzip the file using any file manager (I used solid explorer, available in the Play Store) . I did that for around 50 gigs worth of files without issues. If you don't have a sdcard reader, you could zip up the files on your old phone using the file manager and then copy that to your computer in MTP mode.
I'm pretty sure there are easier ways to do this too, for instance by creating a local network using WiFi Direct and connecting both phones.
Re: Funkeruski
Was just wondering if you were able to transfer all your data from your sd card to your new OnePlus device cuz I'm in the same situation right now, using the OnePlus switch app it's transferring everything EXCEPT my data from my SD card which like you I have a ton of music, pictures and videos on my SD card that I would love to have on my new phone so if you were successful in doing this PLEASE let me know how you did this... Any help would be greatly appreciated!
One of the easiest and best tools to transfer your music is "MusConv" Tool which have many great features to manage all your music
I've transfered over 10gb of songs via windows 10 folder drop
Takes a few hours
And sometime the transfer time won't show until it's nearly done.
I'd suggest dropping them into a folder on your computer then transfering them a few 100 at a time if your having issues
I've used multiple methods as I keep messing up a flash. Via Bluetooth (takes ages but works)
Using programs/apps like dr phone (I wouldn't recommend this as it's just overly complicated to setup.)
Cloud transfers - Google drive, Dropbox ect
All seem to work fine in moderation.
Also a corrupted file can cause issues during a transfer
Have you tried an OTG cable with a SD card reader attached?

I am Leaving my Samsung S9 for a OnePlus 7t Pro 5G I think it was a mistake. There like 2-3 things I can't seem to find an easy solution for. Anyway, the USB to USB C file adaptor that came with the S9 did the trick. I was able to load a USB card reader with the Micro SD card from my S9 and transfer my music over. It took me less than an hour. It was going to take close to two hours just to transfer from phone to PC and maybe another two to the Oneplus. Reading Tifero comment gave me the idea. BTW if you need one Amazon sales USB to USB-C adaptors.

MusConv is one of the greatest tools available for converting any kind of music into any other type of music. It is strongly recommended that you make use of this tool.
