I just came from the HD2 so I'm still kinda new to the Inspire. With the HD2, each kernel was built from scratch specifically for the HD2 so there was never any question that a kernel from a different ROM would work. I know the Inspire and DHD are basically the same phone specification wise except for different audio drivers for the inspire, so my question is: Can I take any AOSP kernel for the DHD to flash directly to my Inspire running MIUI?
Yes I'm using lordmod on miui now

Thanks!! And I'm assuming I can do the same thing with ROM's also right?

I've had issues with some kernels not working quite right. The latest lordmod kernel i could not get to act right with Gingerbeast on my phone.
It's a trial by error. Some ROM's too.

Yes Nick is absolutely right. play around and see. every rom I have ever used from the dhd section has worked fine for me some just require you to flash an audio fix thats all. but yes for the most part all the dhd stuff is compatible. Just remember dont use an aosp kernel on a sense rom and vice versa
Cool, thanks guys. And I already made that mistake with the kernels. I tried flashing Leedroid kernel to the MIUI ROM. Everything booted up fine, but wifi gave an error when I tried to enable it. I think ill stick with lordmod anyway, since it seems to be the best all around. Thanks for the help.

you need to keep Sense kernels and AOSP/CM/MIUI kernels separated.
Been fine on stock TMO rom. However I do want to upgrade to 2.3.4 So I have been studying the ROM section here on forum for Sensation.
I want Sense and as close as stock as I can get. Been leaning towards REVOLUTION or InsertCoin ROms. However I have read some issues with Insert Coin.
Could you give me what your using and if its stable?
Thanks team!
LeeDroid is the best IMO
What kind of issues have u heard about with insertcoin? I installed this the other day and it works great! Would also like to know what the leeroid has over insertcoin cause i was thinking about that one as well

Been using Insertcoin for the last few days, works great. No issues so far.
CoreDroid, all the 2.3.4 goodies along with one SEXY ass theme!

CoreDroid V4 (2.3.4) works well!
x 2 on CoreDroid. I've been using it without problems (other than the fact that autobrightness doesn't transition smoothly for me), and I haven't read of anyone else having that problem. Overall very fast and good looking rom.

InsertCoin v2.1. I'll eventually upgrade to 2.2.1 or whatever the current release is soon. The stock kernal flies. I haven't given the custom kernal a go yet.

Senseless 1.3 =] Great rom with a great gingerbread theme.. Hopefully upgraded to 2.3.4 soon!
As soon as most of us switched to S-Off, I was heistant on flashing since most ROMS as already mentioned were unstable with very few options for T-Mo USA users.
However after messing around with a few stock rooted roms, I jumped on InsertCoin and have not looked back. Some hiccups in the begining, but stable overall. Great ROM.

Did you switch to the recommended radio for insertcoin as well? I really want to try insertcoin but am afraid of flashing radios, and CoreDroid has just happened to work fine with stock tmous radio, so it's a great solution as of now.

coredroid try it if u haven't yet what u have to lose
Using latest MDJ Virtous rom. He knows what he's doing.
Insert Coin far and away the fastest imo.
i don't have htc sensation but what about Android Revolution HD ROM ???
I first check RevolutionHD, but didn't find it much better than the stock rom, so I changed to Leedroid and with the brand new 2.3.4 inside I definitely love it.
Maybe will have a look on Insert Coin in the future ase many here are favoring it.

well Best rule of thumb i guess would be to flash the latest version. you can see my signature for what im using. im on tmobile sensation as well.

I've tried at least the last 10 versions of ARHD downclocked to 1.2, and the latest is the best. Both had the previous radio and the recommended, both worked fine for me, signal, voice quality, up/download speed are almost the same.
ARHD consumes very little power when screen off, but relatively more (compared to stock roms) when awake and using cpu/gpu intensive applications. For office use, you can get two days of battery life with no additional tricks (push exchange + HSDPA on)
Stability: almost zero fc-s, no lags, feels like a well optimized factory rom
From Sense roms, this is the best you can get.

Hi,
If you look in his signature,it says ARHD 3.6.2 XE,which is the version using base 2.3.4 and Sense 3.0
The alternative one is version 4.1.3. which uses base 2.3.5 and Sense 3.5
If you check ARHD [OP] 3.6.2 is available in post 1,and 4.1.3 is in post 3

Hi,
Changing ROMS has no affect on the radio.
There is no need to change the radio to an earlier version, unless you are having serious problems with the one you have installed.

As far a problems before changing the radio, the radio is for 3g-4g connection, cell service or both?

Hi,
The thing is to flash mods using the same base as your ROM.
If you check my sig , I have battery mods for ARHD base 2.3.4 and 2.3.5
Check with your ROM'S dev,to see which base you are using, and then flash the appropriate mod.
ALWAYS MAKE A NANDROID BACKUP BEFORE YOU INSTALL A MOD
For beats I installed THIS MOD ,because I am on base 2.3.5 using Sense 3.5
Or you could install ARDH 3.6.3 XE which contains beats anyway.

You can install anything you want, you just have to know what it is you want to do. Lets say you want to have beats audio (using the previous posters example). You know you have a stock ROM, version 2.3.4 most likely, so just find a beats audio only mod for 2.3.4 bases running Sense 3.0.
Or, as the previous poser says, you can install a whole ROM that already includes it. ARHD basically simulates a Sensation XE by removing the under-clocking on the CPU thats there stock bringing it up to 1.5 Ghz, adding beats audio, and overall just smoothing out the ROM. It looks the same as the stock ROM, it just works better.
The best thing to do is just make a backup of how it is now through recovery, then try stuff out and see what you like. You can always restore your backup and it will be right back to how it was before you did anything.
~T.J.
EDIT: Saw you came from ARHD. Sorry to hear about the bad luck. But yes, you can install mods without a full ROM.

Interesting. Did you try turning the CPU back down to 1.2 GHz? I have ran 3.6.1 and only had one reboot before I switched to the beta kernel, never had any issues with 3.6.2 which came with the same kernel I upgraded to with 3.6.1, but I switched to bricked 0.91 kernel and its even better. Tried 3.6.3 and had a bunch of FC problems and issues so I restored back to 3.6.2.
Basically they all have worked well for me, but I've read of some people needing to stay at 1.2 GHz because of problems you have described.

I haven't tried restoring to 1.2ghz , I just restored my phone back to stock I got tired of trying all the versions and seems all of the versions I flashed had issues on my phone, don't get me wrong but I do love the speed and smoothness of arhd its just those fcs, unstable signal and not to mention the black screen issue. But like you said I haven't tried using different kernel I just used the one that came with the Rom and the other faux kernel that one of xda member suggested the beta 10. I even tried the insertcoin 3.3.9 and same issue with signal. I'm on tmobile carrier I don't know if that causes the signal issue with most of the Rom I flashed.

Well, I'm on T-Mobile also and have had no issues, thats strange. Did you flash the recommended radio also? Maybe you need to try a different one if so.
I really like the Bricked kernel, it runs faster/smoother and the battery life is better than the Faux kernels I used - at least what I've seen so far. I run Sense 3.0 so Im limited to Bricked 0.91, but its still plenty good from what I've seen. He is developing more for Sense 3.5 kernels at this point I think.
Anyway, if it was me, I would try one of the ARHD ROMs with a bricked kernel (the kernel can also affect your reception I believe). If you still have issues, try clocking it back to 1.2 Ghz. I too ran IC for a little while, but finally just settled back to ARHD for a few reasons.

Hi,
Have you tried a custom ROM with the original radio?
I know it won't be matched,but sometimes it's a needs must situation.
Use the radio that will give you the BEST signal.
It might just be that it's the only one that will work properly in YOUR area.

Hi,
So,what combination of ROM and radio was the best for signal?
And with your current set-up,do you ALWAYS have bad signals?
Or does it vary from area to area?
I have just flashed the stock ROM (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1529941) coming from an Android Revolution HD ROM, an old Gingerbread one, 3.6.2 I think. I am now having people say that I sound really muffled on the phone and I am wondering if it could be due to the radio file that I flashed with the Revolution HD ROM and if so what would be the best solution, thanks in advance.
You can try flashing a new radio and see if it helps at all. Or flashing back to the one you had before you changed it unless ROM requires it. Best of luck hope you get your issue solved.
Sent from my HTC Sensation 4G using xda premium
I was wondering if there was a specific radio that would match this ROM in the same way there was one for the Revolution HD ROM. I came from stock that was installed with the Sensation when bought, so I don't know what the radio was.
