HELP Boot loop w no NVflasher installed. - T-Mobile LG G2x

Am I screwed. First, I know Im a noob. I tried to post for clarification in more appropriate places but it wouldn't let me (first post).
I essentially followed the cyanogenmod directions to root and install CWM, then installed CM7.1 and Gapps from the SD card. Unfortunately, I didnt install NVFlash, and am now stuck in a boot loop where it goes to the cyanogen loading screen and crashes. As (I now know) I should have expected, I cant get into recovery mode to use the NANDroid backup I made first. Am I SOL, or is there some way to un-ruin my new $500 dollar toy.
Also, it is a WindMobile Optimus 2x, so apparently its really a G2X? (LG-P999)
This is the second phone i have run cyanogen on. I just got rid of an HTC Glacier, I am comfortable with simple command line, I had some frustration rooting it, but managed. Truth be told im more of a button pushing kinda guy.
HELP ME PLEASE!!

Just nvflash it now. Follow the how-to thread in the dev forum. Doesn't matter if u are bootlooping.
Sent from my HTC Vision (G2x in disguise)

For a less complicated process to NVFlash your recovery, there's a nice nvflash utility posted here:

Makes it a little more button-pusher friendly.

No worries you are on XDA the help offered by the folks here is second to none.

[Q] LG Thrive P506

I did not see any thread for this so opening a new one so its easy to find.
I rooted my phone using gingerbreak and like a wiseazz, loaded a custom recovery image of "recovery-RA-GNM-thunderg-1.2". Although the costom recovery loaded fine, I am stuck with a phone which has only blue and green colors. I loaded one of the custom 2.3 ROMs by Andy and it loaded fine, but still the graphic display is all messed up, only green an blue and some other tinges. When I look at the About phone I see that it says the model number as LG P500 , although mine is LG P506. Any help people??
My wife will kill me. Its her phone!!
why would you flash a P500 ROM to a P506 ? did you make a backup ?
I made a backup of the ROM, but I did not backup the recovery.img.
Can I try NAND restore of the old ROM. I have my doubts if that would work, because as soon as I put the custom recovery in it. It started getting messy colors. But I will try. If any one else has any pointers please let me know.
Also, I ready in one of these posts that Thrive and Phoenix are just variants of Optimus One, architecturally same. Bad decision
Ok. An update. I did a Nandroid backup and I have the ROM which came with the phone. It sucks. But I guess I will have to wait till one of the brainys in here come up with a good "Custom Recovery" and "Custom ROM" for LG Thrive.
I have a LG Optimus T and the LG p500 roms work fine with no problems. I would of expected the same for the att version. I guess you have to wait for one that supports it.

More bad news. I thought if I can mix and match boot.img of LG506 with the system.img of P500, I can get away by loading the Custom ROM.
Bad Bad Bad decision. Right now, its in a bricked stage. Basically stuck in something called..fastBoot udc_start()...
Its not getting to recovery mode whatever I do. I wanted to get to recovery so I can restore NAND backup. I can even get to adb so I can start in recovery....
Somebody help please
Can anyone help me. I tried all possible routes to unbrick my phone. It keeps getting wosre and worse. Right now its stuck in "Emergency Mode". I have the NAND backup file with system.img and boot.img, but cant do anything with it since no ADP or customer recovery. I tried to do a KDZ update, but I think i need the v11e_00.kdz file for P506. Can anyone give me some pointers to recver my phone.
I have a thrive as well and I get the weird blue green screen using the unofficial cm7 rom from the optimus dev section. Luckily I back up the phone with rom manager first so now im back to where I started.
edit: Well after your post I decided to try it again... mistake. Now im stuck at the cm7 logo and im not really sure how to fix it...
edit 2: cant load recovery either... ****
I have tried out the custom roms and i get the strange color problem too. It's strange how the cell phone board is P500 but the model is P506. The phone must be different somehow hardware wise. Hmm....
Ok. An update.
I bricked my phone trying to experiment. I sent it out to LG repair and they put in the stock ROM and sent back. I will not be continuing my experiments again
Can any big hearted rooters help the LG thrive owners please..
Do experiments but cautiously

I have a similar problem with my phone now. I flashed rom and now my phone gets stuck on boot screen. I can get to recovery. But my backups not there for sum reason.
Edit: I found what was supposed to be tha stock rom for my phone but didnt work. Gets stuck after lg screen goes away. It will go to recovery. Does anyone have a copy of a nand
Backup for a P506 thrive?
I've managed to get myself in the same situation would you happen to recall the LG number you called or have a lead on who I can contact at LG. I will continue to search also. Thanks in advance.
Ok wow. You need to go to WWW.androidcentral.com once there go to the Phoenix/ thrive thread. We have a custom kernel made by joban to run the p500 roms without the color issue. Also have how to threads for rooting, CWM, and flashing.
Running oxygen v1.1 w/ joban kernel, cwm on my LG Phoenix. And its awesome. Fast, great battery
Don't forget to hit the thanks button!
Sorry that it took me forever to get back to this, but just one question. Are the kernels for the Phoenix and Thrive exactly the same?
No issues that i can recall being specific to the kernel.
Question: I have rooted the phone and installed ROM Manager. Set up Rom Manager as Optimus One. Here is the issue: I am able to reboot normally and keep root. But when I select to reboot into recovery from ROM Manager, the phone does a default setup and I'm back to factory default. When I try to get into recovery by using the PWR+Home+Vol up (and vol down at times), I get into fastboot with "udc_start()". Which I'm guessing is normal. What am I missing to get into recovery?
Thanks.
Assuming you have a thrive. You may want to check this out.

There appears to be a hickup with thrive and CWM.
lg thrive p506 EMERGENCY MODE!
my lg thrive come on and immediately goes into emergency mode. i have been searching for about two weeks for anything that will help me in xda forums, and youtube and phandroid. i cant find anything that conclusively brings the phone out of emergency mode. can anyone direct me to a program or forum that might be of assistance?
need more info. are you on stock unrooted, just rooted, or rooted with custom recovery and rom?
what were you doing when this happened?
^^^^need to know^^^^^^^^^
try this and let me know what you get. hold at same time Home+vol down+power.

You need to flash CWM recovery with NvFlash on the 2X devices not ROM Manager. That should be the first thing you do. Then flash CM7 with from there.
^^^ what he said. But don't forget to wipe cache. Or else you'd still get boot loop.
Look in the development section for help on how to flash CWM with NVFlash. Also, you mention that you have the Optimus2x, but this post is in the G2x forum. Please make sure you are flashing the correct stuff by double checking whether you have an Optimus2x or a G2x. They are different. If you need help with that, let us know before you flash anything.
I assumed he has a Canadian Optimus 2X I should've confirmed.

Hello SGS4G XDA section! Newbie needs a lot of help!

Hey guys i`ve recently managed to get an SGS 4G Vibrant ( i believe that i am at right place to seek for help ) , i have the T-Mobile version of the phone. I need help switching to different/better ROM, at this moment the phone uses the stock one ( or i believe so ). I`ve been tru the threads and saw that there are a lot of stuff posted about what you need to do/have to flash a rom, but i just cant understand the right order of doing the things.
If its posible can someone really quick just post the steps for the guide for flashing a ROM to the phone. I have previous expiriance with android phone and i am aware how thing go, just as i said i cant get the right order of puting all the thing at one place.
For the phone i used to have was like, first i had to install an stocklike ROM which had recovery, but before that i had to get some kind of software for LG that alowes to flash the rom via download mode. So is the same here? It would be awesome if someone can link or atleast type all the software and other thing i need to have installed to make this work. For now what i have is the USB drivers for Samsung.
Thanks in advance!

Ok, that helped, not sure how i missed it. I am gonna write down what i did so far, so you could see if i messed up something.
I rooted the phone via SuperOneClick 2.2, then i installed the SGS Kernel Flasher, and then flashed the kernel, my current phone was running an 2.3.7 android, so i used the Basic with a Twist`s kernel ( i hope i did it right ), and now the phone rebooted and some different boot screen apiared with some Robotic Chick speeking some stuff, BUT for now the phone load to there, it doesnt wannt to load.
So did i messed up something, or ....
Can you go into recovery by holding Volume Up+Volume Down while pressing the power button and as soon as the SGS 4G splash appears leaving the power button ?
If so and you can see CWM Ver. 5.0... then kernel was successfully flashed.
You shouldn't be getting a bootloop.
What ROM do you want to flash ? If you want to flash GB then I suggest Barebone/Valhalla of some kind.
If you want ICS - Go to the CM 9.1 thread and follow the instructions. After that you may change to AOKP or MIUI or all the rest of the ICS ROMs you wanna try.

I am sorry I do not know how to get you back to where you started before flashing the wrong ROM.
Good luck
Well, it wasnt a bootloop, it just loaded to some point and stoped. Gladly still got the download mode and brought it back to normal to how it was. Thats why i came here to ask, `couse there are too much similiar sgs`s and stuff for them here, i just got confused whats what. Got to start from scratch anyway, at least i didnt bricked it
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=21953587&postcount=1 <---- That's a post by Lumin 30 with a guide on how to get from stock to custom GB. If you want to get to ICS then use CWM 5.0.x.x.

[Q] Help! Searched for solution for hours.

My Atrix 2 is currently having some serious issues. Last night I rooted it. I changed the boot animation to what was supposed to be a human eye turned droid eye or something. When I rooted it and attempted to install Safestrap it didn't install correctly. As I am inexperienced with rooting android phones, I didn't think it'd hurt. I don't know if it did. When I rebooted to see the animation it just said android in silver letters with light flashing across it and it never got past that. I did several hard resets to see if that would fix it, after trying multiple battery pulls of course, and nothing. The phone is now dead and won't charge, when I plug it in it just shows the Motorola logo and doesn't do anything, but if I unplug it the logo doesn't go away. Help, please!

Phew, that was close. Hello and welcome to the help section of the A2 forum, for starters the trouble you're facing right now is called soft bricking. It's a very common problem, but is usually solved by flashing the correct ICS sbf for your region.
So firstly, is your phone branded AT&T or is it from another region? Please specify which. Next you need to recharge your battery externally either by an external battery charger or the Mcgyver method. (search the forum for more details).
After you've charged your battery up enough, put it back in your phone and put your phone into fastboot mode by holding the volume down button + power button and make sure it says 'Battery OK'.
After making it this far, you'll need RSD lite order to flash/install the sbf files. If everything goes fine without failure, then your phone will be back to stock and you've saved it! Here's a thread that has content that should guide you with further details: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2245825 Good luck!

As RSDLite was rebooting my phone I checked the forums and saw this! Hahah but thank you very much! This is pretty much exactly what I ended up doing. I posted this and then read up on the forums rules and some stuff and realized I should really learn to help myself if I want to . Took some time and a lot of mistakes but I put it together. Thank you very much for the reply.

You're welcome  I'm glad it all worked out for you in the end. I still remember the time earlier this year when I just got my phone, went crazy with mods and ended up softbricking it for a whole week. It was hell just to get it working again cuz RSD Lite decided to hate me from the get-go. -_-
So I'm glad to help others out with this, but enough rambling lol, take greater care for the next flashes you do until you get used to it!

Well now that you're back and rooted, if you're planning on doing any more flashing any time soon then I recommend you install boot menu manager. If you've previously installed safestrap or bootstrap, clear their data and uninstall them before installing bmm.
With that done, you've just made your phone a little safer from bricking because bmm allows multi rom booting, which are somewhat independent of the primary system. Refer to this thread for more info on how to make systems, etc.: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2115715
The first thing you'd want to do is make sure your apps/data is always backed up at all times with apps like titanium backup. Create 2 or more systems so that you can try the bmm compatible custom ROMs which are in the dev section if you want to try any of them. But please, read all instructions, warnings, requirements, etc. carefully before attempting any flashing in general.
The thread I posted in my earlier post above will have links to the specific custom ROMs. If you're doing any other kind of flashing, make sure to again, read instructions carefully and take your time with learning all of this.
Hi, I soft bricked my phone recently.
I was running stock ICS from Moto on a rooted Atrix 2. I wanted to upgrade it to JB so I installed Atrix 2 bootstrap and clicked Bootstrap Recovery (gave superuser permission) and then Reboot Recovery. It went into CWM and I wiped factory data and cache. Before I installed the JB zip I backed up my old ICS via CWM and then installed CyanogenMod-Dev-edison-nightly-20130401-2132-signed.591fan.com zip.
It was upgraded successfully to 4.2.2 but I couldnt get my updated contacts from the Super Recovery app, so I thought to restore the old ICS and backup the contacts once again. I installed Atrix 2 bootstarp apk again and went thought the same process ( Bootstrap recovery > gave Superuser permission > Reboot recovery). As soon as it rebooted the Motorola logo came on and after that the phone gave dark grey screen. I tried rebooting and going into CWM on startup but it didnt give the option of install zip from sd card as it did on my earlier attempt.
I am stuck with a bricked phone and all my work is stuck up.
I read about RSDlite but I have heard it causes hard bricking on several occasion. So, I am a bit cautious about using it and I dont know the exact procedure to use it also. Can you please guide me on how to regain my phone from this soft brick and where i went wrong during my installations.
Any help would be very much appreciated. Thanks a lot in advance.

[Q] Uh. Did I brick my phone? lol.

Sooooooo I tried to root and run cm7 on my LG optimus 2X phone on wind mobile (P999), I think its the same as the T-mobile G2x
I'm a complete noob at this and I probably screwed stuff up and now All I get when I try to turn my phone on is the LG logo, and then another LG logo (looks a bit more upgraded - probably from me partially upgrading it).
I rooted the phone
and then I tried to do the other stuff to run gingerbread on it and it was so complicated and now i'm stuck.
I installed LG support tool, and at first that told me I had no upgrades available, so I decided to root the phone via SuperOneClick....
and then after that I screwed up in places I think. I installed ROM manager on my phone same with another app, I think Titanium Backup, but everything got to complicated for me in between and after (lol)
so now I'm stuck and my phone is eternally on the lg logo.
I want to just get my phone back even if it's not on gingerbread, even a factory reset would be good - since I backed up my files in my computer.
Please help!
I made an account here just to post this! :crying:
pleeease help, this is driving me crazy! : ( i can't access my sd card, i don't know where to look!
I tried to do the instructions on the "How to unbrick your phone" but all the links for downloads don't work
edit - my computer also says I have no APX driver. Where do I download one??
try flashing one of these from CWM recovery.... http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1048274

This is a tool you can use to reformat everything from nvflash so you can flash a ROM from a clean slate.
You can find the last cm7 nightly on their website.
