Used Mr. Number before but it no longer actually looks up numbers without paying I guess, so anyone e using a good caller ID app?
Well it depends.
I use Full Screen Caller ID which is just an application that makes the pictures full screen - lets you set video, etc.
There's a free version in the market and its inexpensive to upgrade it.
Not sure if that's what your looking for or not...
You more looking for an app that will decipher numbers as they come in?
Message sent from my T-Mobile G2x (LG-P999) running Cyanogenmod 7.1 using the XDA Premium application!
You might look at Call Control, I don't know if it does what you are looking for, I don't use all its capabilities, I only use it to reject telemarketers and sometimes to do reverse look-up.
Whitepages with caller ID.

I tried out call control and uninstalled it a minute after....just like mr. number, the numbers I tried to look up just say unknown caller. My main focus is to lookup numbers not in my contacts and block calls...an actually caller ID of incoming calls would be great too....I check out the white pages and see how that works
btw mr. number supposedly turns on its caller if feature without paying if you agree that it can anonymously get your contact info for caller id things, I didn't go for that and uninstalled

Hi,
I'm sick of telemarketing withheld "unknown" numbers calling me and would like to forward them straight to voicemail. Has anyone tried any decent apps that do this?
I'm actually looking for an ap similar to this that will allow me to direct those who are listed as unknown to an audio track that plays the standardized three-tone line-is-disconnected track.
both would be awsome anyone know of an app in existence? if not this would be one of those apps ppl would pay for
Just tried droid block which was useless (DroidBlock)
If you are looking for a third party solution (not on mobile) - you can register for a free account on PBX+. They are giving a free number in US/UK. You can then filter incoming calls using their filters. Of course, you could do much more.
thanks John for PBX+ it seems interesting will look into it......
although it seems like more overkill than I perhaps need. I really just wanted an app.
I will check out pbx tomorrow
Hello, can any 1 give me a name of apps to block calls and txts. I keep gettin bogus advertising companies calling me and txing me in the day and at night. Hopefully an app thats easy to set up would be a bonus ;-)

Save their number and then in phonebook you can set it to send directly to voicemail.
Don't know about texts though.

use SPC (Super Private Conversation)
its perfect application for u bro,
download it from market
just put SPC in market search...
I use Mr. Number, it works great. Instead of voice mail you can have it pickup and hang up. I don't think my screen even lights up when a blocked call comes in. Its "suspected spam" feature works great. If you install it now, you can view the call list from inside and ads those number you want blocked.
They updated it so now you can subscribe and get instant caller id info and it tells you the last time that number called, as they're calling, that is if they're not blocked. Also, you can block the texts from the blocked numbers if set in options. Try it out, you'll like it.

What do you use???
What is the best call blocking app. I need to block unknown numbers and stupid telemarketing call. I also need it to log all call not just block them.
Paid and free one's.
I have not rooted my phone yet.

I use an app called Mr. Number. It logs all calls that are made to your phone, and there are various options. I have mine set to allow all calls from anyone in my contacts list. All other calls automatically go to voicemail, and I always have the option to go back and add a previously blocked number to the whitelist. There are other options/things that the app can do, but that's mainly what I use it for.
Because of that, I am only using the free version.
just place the number in your contacts & if you can send them directly to voicemail from there & it won't ring your phone.
just go to teh contact, click menu then click "options" then click the checkbox next to "incoming calls"
that is how I do it. Sure it fills my contact list more, but its the easiest way to not having my phone ring
Root call blocker if you never want it to get sent to your phone at all. Its the only one that does that. All the rest just send to voicemail.

+1 for Mr. Number. Worked great for me.
I've been wanting to use a call blocking app, but how bad does it affect the battery life?
Just use the reject slider, "is da best"
G2X
I use call blocker gold. It has many options but not one call blocker I have seen does what CM7 does built-in and that's send the call to an infinite loop of ringing. There is a Phone.apk and Contacts.apk for Froyo in the HD2 Android section that does this.
Personally, I would rather send a not wanted caller to an infinite ring than to my voicemail. Hopefully, it will be incorporated to the new ROM's coming out.
If you are getting telemarketer calls, get on the do not call list....it's that simple. Anything else...Mr. Number. Just know it doesn't block the calls--that's impossible to do from the handset. It picks up and then hangs up the call.
Call Blocker
Been using Easy Filter. Works great, logs calls rejected and real easy to add numbers to block list. Gives you several options on how to handle blocked calls as well.
I should of said this before, I needed a feature like black list option from my G1 with Cy rom.

Afaik, the only way to do that is by modifying phone.apk and contacts.apk. I am pretty sure the blacklist option is already incorporated in current cm7 roms for the g2x.

Is there an option to send it to an endless ring? Are there any call blockers that can do that? Or any call blockers that will forward the call to a number of your choice?
google voice

Cm7 blacklist
Yep, the two best ones are made by the same company:
Root Call Blocker (for general use):
https://market.android.com/details?id=fahrbot.apps.rootcallblocker.beta
Call Master (for advanced users):
https://market.android.com/details?id=fahrbot.apps.blacklist
These are the only blockers that completely block everything without turning the screen on. Need to be rooted though.

I kept getting calls from a particular advertiser, and after asking several times for them to stop, I blocked their number on my skyrocket.
But now their number is at the top of my contact list. How do I remove it from the contact list without unblocking it?
It seems that it might have to be listed in the contacts in order for the phone to recognize the number to block if they call in the future.
Complete guess, but I think a reasonable guess...
You are probably right. I wonder if there's a way to filter my contact list so that blocked numbers aren't seen. I'll have to check the market for an app. Thanks.
PS -- Cool screen name. Nice to see another Texan on the forum.
I created a contact named "Blocked Telemarketers" and put any sales call numbers under that contact. I also added it to the blacklist and auto reject list. No more rings, no missed call notifications either.
I use call master.

I use blacklist pro no icon. So I block and I don't see the app or notifications

Yep sounds like call master. I like the kill feature. It doesn't even ring for people trying to call. Tricks them into thinking not a valid nimber- can't leave voicemail

So I don't know about you guys but more recently, I've been getting a TON of unwanted soliciation mostly surrounding credit card consolidation. According to VZW (good 'ol #611), our TBs have a native function to block #s in our Call History. I've never known this before and using BAMF SOAB I couldn't find it. Anyone know of other ways?
I've never checked into a native function, but if you use google voice you can set up any number to go directly to voicemail, completely block them and setup custom voicemail greetings on a per person basis. It has a lot of nice options and those are all free. You also might want to get your phone number on the do not call registry if it's not already at https://www.donotcall.gov/

Yeah thanks man, I registered some years ago but it isn't stopping these guys. The problem is they're calling from different #s, all of which are unreturnable too. GV would be nice but this is my direct #, not my GV.
When you click on Phone ...click on Menu and then go to Blocked Callers you can add them there...a bit time consuming as I cannot get it too add them by long pressing on their info in the call list...
Just reread your post... your running BAMF SOAB...I am still a stock newb not sure if you have that feature still.
Google voice options are tied to your cell number if you go through the setup. I don't even use the assigned google voice number for anything, but i do use the blocking feature and those numbers don't make it to my cell any longer. But if they use a lot of different numbers, i don't know what to suggest.

You have to re-register every year.
FYI - Making telemarketing calls to a cell number is illegal.

The link for filing a complaint with the FCC is on that site as well.
I use an app called Call Control, it allows me to allow calls from contacts only, all others go directly to voice mail.
You may want the paid version, it's well worth it in my opinion.
Have you tried any of the apps from the marketplace? i know they have one called blacklist.
