Hi,
Can anyone tell me if there is a tablet optimized navigation software available with maps?
Thanks!
Try Sygic GPS Navigation. It can works offline.
Does not work
I testet Sygic and this is not compatible.
I now use Navigon (latest version) and it works absolutely fine.

Sygic is compatible 100%.Using it now.
I am using Waze, its a tottally free navigation solution.
Navigon was purchased by TomTom so... you might wanna hold off on buying that...
Sygic is apparently far cheaper anyway.

Have they fixed the menu problem that people complained about? Not being able to access any of the settings menus etc.

What I can tell you is that route66 mobile 7 works perfect but when you quit it you have to reboot the phone because it messes up quite good.

Hi,
I use Sygic Mobile Maps 10, has anyone found a solution for this?
'cuz i had a look in the hyper gps thead and it seems the hd2 isn't compatible yet.
so, if you do have some info, post it!
thanks!
Watch the hyper gps thread for an updated version for our HD2, TMC simpley doesn't work (yet) on a HD2.

Hi everyone,
I have been trying to install Sygic but after I start the setup it just hangs and stays frozen at the I AGREE page. Nothing happens.
Has anyone had similar problem?
Cheers
Vassil

Not without an external TMC receiver it doesn't. Up to now TMC signal is not working without the use of an external TMC receiver.
TMC
TMC= Travel Message Center

Uhhh look at post #9..........
Hi all! this is in regard with our gps issues... I just want to share how i got the gps working at least I can say 99 percent accurate navigation, thru gps receiver module. I know its kinda stupid buying one but I was really happy with the results. I bought this gps receiver module in amazon.com(Globalsat BT-359). then downloaded the FREE bluetooth gps provider app in the market. Easy to pair and connect with our captivate. I have been using it now for a week and so far so good, locks and always on the spot.
p.s. the main reason I bought the module was for my nook color which btw works too, this prompted me to test it on the captivate which works wonders now with my navigation. Just sharing!

hey! I didnt know it has been posted in the accessories, anyway thanks for the link!
thats a workable solution for some
but you did NOT GET YOUR GPS working. You are simply using an alternate GPS device.

A search would have shown you that. Always do a search before starting a new thread.
to be fair that thread title is horrible from a descriptive standpoint.
I know that Garmin is not yet available for Android, generally.
What is the best alternative currently available? Both insofar as map and routing quality, as well as features, UI, etc...?
Google maps

No, that's not an alternative. Google Maps requires a signal to function, Garmin does not. I'm talking about a full, standalone GPS application.
My favorite is Sygic Aura.

Looking at it, it's got a lot of negative reviews, including some comments about it not working on an Atrix.
It also looks like they're pulling a bait and switch, calling it free, when allegedly, it's only a 7 day trial.
What's your experience with it?
Copilot is really good.

For a real offline navigation app i'd go for Navigon.
For a real offline mapping app i'd go for Locus.

I need both, which is what Garmin does, and what I'm looking for an alternative for.
Does anyone have experience with a multitude of these apps? Recommending the only one you've ever tried isn't a good way to get a feel for how they compare to one another.

Hi,
HD2-AndoidSD-Americandroid
i use google maps now...is realy good.
Offline:
Navigon....easy to handle but made some problems with the spreach if you use a bluetooth radio. Would have stayed on this if i would not need the bluetooth feature. Looks very "professional"
Igo...maps can not be transfered individualy (just complete packs)....not so nice
Copilot...quite good. Use it now if i need offline navigation.
Disadvantages:
- To much features and settings. You can almost change everything (which is not so good while driving)
- Voice sounds like the litte robot at buck rogers...
I think it all goes down to the maps. For example, for Eastern Europe, I use IGo with TopoMaps.
Why not stick with garmin?

Did you not read my first post? Because Garmin doesn't make a general mapping product for Android that isn't locked to their own device.
Did any of you lucky owners tried new Sygic 11.0.1 navigation(formerly known sa Aura)? This is fixed version of Aura 3.0,which had problems with Sense 2.1 and Gingerbread 2.3.3 on Desire HD.This new wersion is working now on Desire HD,but I am curious about interactions with Sense 3.0.Thanks in advance.
It gives me Foreclose I already emailed to Sygic Sunday . Hoping for reply and fix
Sent from my HTC Sensation Z710e using XDA App
not working with sense 3.0 jumps back to main menu...sygic responded that they didnt even have the sensation to test it
Nice that Sygic replying back We must just wait.... :S

Same problem here. Hope they will fix it asap.
Any update on this? I'm trying to decide on a navigation app before I go on holiday and this was my first option.
If not can anyone make a suggestion on a good sat nav app that covers UK & Western Europe? I had co-pilot on my now relegated HTC Touch Pro2 but am open to advice and suggestion?

New Navigon 3.6 Europe for Android is good, uses Navteq maps ,although they are bit old(2010.10),but it has live traffic info, and it works on Sensation...I still prefer more Sygic for using graphic acceleration, but it does not work yet, they are really slow with fixing things
Iam also using navigon it works quite okay but it is not sygic aura.but so far it suffices
Sent from my HTC Sensation Z710e using XDA Premium App
I'm using Copilot Live 8 - works fine... but I miss TomTom
Thanks for the advice. It seems like that when working Sygic gets a thumbs up. I may try to borrow a stand alone sat nav from someone for holidays and wait on Sygic getting fixed before I make a purchase.
Where did you find Serbian maps for Sygic

I am not using it for navigation in Serbia, since Sygic uses Tom Tom maps which covers only transit roads for Serbia(although they are made by Tele Atlas which are used by iGO and thay have full coverage of Serbia).Mostly using iGO8 and N drive for Serbia

Tried the Sygic 11.0.1 nav on Sensation. It installs ok, it even downloads the maps normaly, but the app does NOT start. NOT a force close, but just stops loading and returns to the desire homescreen. No idea why.
Same thing happened to me when Htc released 2.3.3 Gingerbread update for Desire HD.Thay had some issues with Sense 2.1 and they fixed it with Sygic 11.0.1 update. But,because they did not have Sensation,Sygic did not try fix with new Sense 3.0.That was the main reason to start thread.Sygic is informed about problem with Sense 3.0 and they promised to fix it with 11.1 fix.So they say..
Thanks, my brother have nokia n900 and only working navi is Sygic.
Sygic 11.0.2 upgrade is out...claiming that it adds stability to HTC phones.Did anyone tried it on Sensation? Is it finally working?

It works!
10chars
finally!
Now,they need to make proper full maps for Serbia,Fyrom,Bosnia,Montenegro,Cyprus and partly Croatia,Romania and Bulgaria(blame Tom Tom for that) and Sygic will be best navigation for Android.

it looks and works pretty good but it only saids turn right turn left no street names and that was a big disappointment , hopefuly the new upgrade will said the name of the streets were u have to turn .......
You mean TTS(text to speech),don't you?! As far as I know, not a single "premium navigation app for Android(igo8,Sygic,NDrive,Navigon,Copilot) support TTS or uses Android speach machine...or any other(Svox,Loquendo, etc)
