According to the GPS test App I have 10/10 sats.......but the Google maps wont locate me and neither will other programs!!
G2x Deez Nuts

When I run Get Position under the LocMgrPD Test Menu (1809#*999#) and it locks, then all my GPS apps, Navigation, Telenav, Waze, Maps, etc will work. However, Get Position will only find me 7 out 10 times. I added a Any Cut Activity to my desktop with a link direct to LocMgrPD so I could Get Position quick and bypass the 1809#*999# entry. This has been the only way I have been able to get Nav and GPS to sometimes work.
I hope the GB Update includes a fix for the GPS Driver and this is not a hardware issue. I suppose if it is hardware, once the GB Update is out I can always return the phone and get a new one under the warranty as the GPS should really work. This and a minor Screen Bleed have been the only flaws in what is now my 2nd G2X.

By the way, try to run the Get Position in the LocMgrPD. It does the same thing as GPS Test, but for me it locks, while GPS Test never does.
Below is from another XDA poster...
Nokia SUPL - locks in about 16 seconds (GPS Status)
1. Go into the LG hidden menu (1809#*999#)
2. Go into GPS Test
3. Go into System Settings
4. MOLR Protocol (is set to User-Plane)
5. SULP Setting -> SLP Server Setting, I created a new one for the nokia servers (slp address: supl.nokia.com, port: 7275, no cert and no TLS setting)
6. SLP Auto Provision is activated
Google SUPL - locks in about 7 seconds (GPS Status)
1. Go into the LG hidden menu (1809#*999#)
2. Go into GPS Test
3. Go into System Settings
4. MOLR Protocol (is set to User-Plane)
5. SULP Setting -> SLP Server Setting, I created a new one for the Google (slp address: supl.google.com, port: 7275, cert NULL and Yes to TLS setting)
6. SLP Auto Provision is activated
Note: I personally believe it has something to do with the SLP Auto Provision. Mine was off by default when i launched hiddenmenu.

Its there a way to restore the LG menu to CM7 roms? Someone upload the hiddenmenu.apk maybe?

Thanks for this. Unfortunately, setting the SLP server to supl.google.com didn't help; it still took GPS Status 106 seconds for the first fix (which is very much in line with what I had been getting, and indicative of the AGPS data not being used). A couple of specific questions (which I realize you may not have the answers to, since you were quoting this from another poster):
The MOLR protocol button is grayed-out on my phone, so I have no idea whether it's set to User-Plane or C-Plane. Is there anything I need to do to enable this button?
Also, the supl.google.com instructions say "cert NULL" -- does that mean putting the exact characters N U L L into that box, or leaving it empty, or something else?

Yep, beyond my pay grade, no idea how these phones actually work. I left Cert blank and my MOLR was grayed too.
I wish someone with knowledge of how this phone actually worked would respond to the GPS issue threads, but everyone around here seems to be preoccupied with arguing over the merits of a G2x and Sendation.

WM6 proxy setting, quick help.

Hello.
I'm using faria's latest WM6 ROM, but can't find where to enter proxy server / proxy settings in accordance to t-mobile's guide. WM6 doesnt have the place where to enter proxy numbers as specified. After a little digging i heard you might need to change the settings in the registry for wm6.
Can anyone please advise?
Thanks!
12. Tap Edit my proxy server under T-Mobile GPRS.
13. Tap to check This network connects to the Internet.
14. Tap to check This network uses a proxy server to connect to the Internet.
15. Enter 216.155.165.050 in the Proxy server field.
16. Tap Advanced.
17. Tap HTTP.
18. Enter 8080 in the Port field.

I was able to configure mine just fine today, but I'll admit it took me a few tries in the past before I figured it out.
Go to Start --> Settings --> Connections tab --> Connections.
Since you're not using the standard T-Mobile ROM, just adapt the steps a bit to match up with what is on the WM6 ROM. Where it says T-Mobile GRPS in the instructions, actually use the My Work Network section on the device. You can also rename My Work Section to T-Mobile GRPS if you want.
Under that section, you should see:
Add a new modem connection
Add a new VPN server connection
Edit my proxy server
Other than the My Work Network/T-Mobile GPRS thing, the steps were exactly the same.
Oh yeah, instead of 216.165.155.050 enter 216.165.155.50.
I did that and I was able to get an Edge connection and send/receive MMS messages from my Verizon phone.

Hi.
When I goto Settings > Connection; "My Work" is no longer listed as a connection, only My Home.
How can i get back / add "My Work" ?
THanks.
Hmmm... I'm not sure. I have My ISP and My Work Network and I've always had that with the WM6 ROM's.
Dave
I know this is kind of buggy... I had the same issue.
If you add a new connection, call it My Work or something, and choose GPRS 3G for the type, and finish, it will put 2 connections, which will allow you to change between My Work Network again, etc. No registry hack needed, it's there, it's just not showing. By adding a 2nd connection, it will show your "My Work Network" again. Keep in mind, if you had MMS messaging, but no 'net until now, once the 'net works, you will have to change your MMS setting to "My Work Network" as well.
Now 'net and MMS works on my phone (Cingular 8525) on Tmobile, using only T-Zones and WM6 Thx for the help!

Google maps, "My Location" (GPS with no GPS, cool!)

This new version of Google maps works on my treo 750. It knows your location based on the GSM towers. (no GPS needed, pretty cool)
http://google.com/gmm/index.html
Video: http://google.com/gmm/mylocation.html?hl=en
I have to force my treo off hsdpa into GSM/EDGE mode though or it wont lock on correctly. Menu>Preference>Phone Settings>Services>Band Selection>Select GSM instead of Auto or UMTS.
http://groups.google.com/group/Goog...ad/32c1f4d24ec86c9d/f8611d39e8056b30?lnk=raot
This other free tower based gps app is better and works even if I don't force my phone off hsdpa.
http://www.navizon.com/
Great find.
I found a way to force google maps to work with HSDPA
(no need to disable things back to EDGE as posted above)
Basically, Navizon has a nice option that will setup a virtual GPS port. Here's how you get everything working
1) install www.navizon.com (it's free)
2) launch navizon
3) Menu, Options, hit the left arrow icon (lower right on screen) until the GPS tab appears (lower left on screen)
4)Set everything as follows
-GPS: NO GPS (Navizon Vrtula GPS)
-Baud Rate 4800
-Auto Start (NOT checked)
-Output Port: COM9: (Virtual)
-Load outlput port into driver memory (check this box ON)
-Use physical output port (NOT checked)
-Click ok
5) Click start, settings, System tab, External GPS
6) Programs Tab, GPS program port: GPD9,
7) hardware tab, GPS hardware port: COM9, Baud rate 4800
8) Access tab, Manage GPS automatically (check this box ON)
9) click ok, x out, you should be back in Navigon now
10) click the start action button (lower left screen in Navizon)
11) You should zip to your location on the map. Ok now while you leave navizon running, go ahead and startup Google Maps
12) Googlemaps, Menu, Options, GPS Settings, "Set by Windows....." check this on! Click ok
13) Menu, "Use GPS"
BOOM ! Google will work and you can leave HSDPA full speed internet access working instead of having to force it to GSM/EDGE as above.

need data plan
just curious-does this feature use your data plan, airtime, or neither? In other words, is there additional charge for it, or does it require a data/internet plan?
Navizon - no location found
Does anyone know of any tricks to get Navizon working? I am in a fairly metropolitan area but all I get is 'no location found'. I tried in both UMTS and GSM modes and neither one works for me.
Google Maps, on the other hand, I can get to work, with a 3000 meter accuracy, but only in GSM mode.
Any ideas?

When I first signed up for Navizon it didn't work for me either. Then, on the main web site, I found that they had set my default location somewhere in Georgia: I live in California. After much trial-and-error was able to get my default location to set my local area. Navizon now works. However, I didn't like it much and have moved back to Google Maps. I like the Google product much better even with the GSM limitation.

Yes, if you click on the link "Get more info" in the video link, it says that you will need a data plan for the maps.
My Location now working with 3G. I did a hard reset (for unrelated reasons) on my ATT branded WM6 750, downloaded (the latest?) Google maps and have been 100% successful in getting "My Location" to work with 3G. I'm not sure if it was the reset or if Google updated the software, but what a huge improvement.

Twitter app Peep working over 3g

Hey I managed to get Peep working over 3g by removing the proxy setting for my connection.
I use my HD2 on T-mobile and the connection wizard automatically puts in settings for proxy for you.
I found that If you go to Settings > wireless controls > menu > Connections
Click setup my proxy server and untick "This network uses a proxy server to connect to the internet" option
this then worked perfectly - I can't say for other networks as I only use T-mobile.
if it doesn't work for you - just delete the existing connection. go to settings > wireless controls > setup a data connection. and your settings will be back to normal.
That's just T-Mobile UK being idiots... Pity it doesn't remove the YouTube blocking...
Wow this works!
Thank you, now I can twitter without wifi

Youtube works fine for me on t-mobile. You need to register on their site and remove the adult content block.

Problem is that it requires a credit card, of which I do not have (you know, what with being under 18...).
I'll just have to wait...
Does it? i dont have one, i just deactivated it and youtube works, simple as that. Maybe it depends how you bought the phone, but my account assumes im 18 since i had to be to get the contract in the first place.
Thanks, fixed it for me , was still wondering why I couldn't use Peep over HSDPA/3G
Big thanks, forgot to check that proxy thing..

Unchecking the 'use proxy' option did not work for me - how can I delete the existing connection? All I can do it seems is either manage the connection or add a new one.
I'm on T-Mobile as well and although Opera and some other programs such as Yomomedia work fine over 3G, the HTC applications including email and Peep just do not update unless there is wifi. I tried updating the 'operator database' settings and it told me that my settings were up to date.
Update - I now have GMail working on 3G, this is how:
- Enabled exchange relationship with GMail in ActiveSync (http://www.google.com/mobile/sync/)
- Enabled Directpush in wireless settings
- Enabled 'Sync while roaming' in account settings for my outlook email account (on the device).
Normal email accounts still do not update on 3G (IMAP/POP), only the exchange system seems to work.
HTC Peep/Twitter is still not working unless there is a Wifi connection or USB to PC connection. If I try and 'update now' on 3G it says that the network is not available. I can confirm the network is available and have checked the 'download data while roaming' box in Peep settings.
Any ideas?
So, just removing the proxy didn't work for me. I found an option to update the connection database. I did this (downloads from HTC I guess) and then disabled the proxy. That fixed my Peep connection
The update the connection database, goto settings, wireless, data, menu, update database.
I hope anyone can help me with the problems i am having with HTC Peep,
Some of the time it works fine while updating. other times i get a connection error.. but thats not the worst problem. i was wondering if anyone could help me find a register setting or tweak that would set a maximum limit to the amount of tweets in htc peep, the ammount of errors and loading time of the tab seems to increase when the ammount of tweets become more and more. for now the only solution i have found to speed it up again is hard reset and i dont like that if anyone could help me i would be really greatfull!

Herald's Open Touch - T-Mo apn settings

Hey, I have this guy I was working with trying to get his MMS working on his Wing/Herald. When I noticed the menu structure was ass-backwards I checked the ROM version: "OpenTouch 4CN WWE".
Anyway, I found the MMS gprs settings and was able to key those in, but I'm Unable to find the standard internet settings. On a standard T-Mo software, the path would be Start>Settings>Connections Tab>Connection>"Manage existing connection" - But this option is not here! It only has options for adding a modem, setting up a vpn, and managing a proxy. So where is the "My Work Network" page?
Sorry if it all sounds really naive, I own a G1 personally and have followed this forum for over a year working with the roms available, but never personally even owned an winmo device.
I'm not sure on that version of OpenTouch... But try this (from OpenTouch tutorial)
Network Wizard:
Go to \Start\Settings\Connections\Network Wizard
Choose your location and provider, do not reset the device when prompted.
Connections
Go to \Start\Settings\Connections\Connections
Once completed save and exit
may need to input "wap.voicestream.com"
For more info on OpenTouch 4:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=377939
Thanks, yeah I'll be calling him back tomorrow so hopefully that works. The second step is goofy though, with the "Go to \Start\Settings\Connections\Connections", as that takes us to the page I described earlier with no options to change APNs. We'll see. Thanks for checking into that for me!

Radio/Rom Combo that works well for Airfire/Einstein Wireless (great bat life)

Hi everyone..
I know radio performance varies greatly depending on your geographical location, but I use a smaller carrier that only operates in 1 state... (well, I can roam around the US, but only home area is 1 state)... After playing around with MANY roms & radios, this is what I found...
I am using a US Cellular branded Touch Pro 2....
I am using the "Energy.RHODCDMA.21911.Sense2.5.Cookie.Jul.24" rom w/ the "VZW_1.88.07WV" radio... I get the highest level of signal with this radio.. At home, I wa typicalls gettign 0-2 bars.. now I get 3-5... Also, as an added suprise.. my battery life has tripled (And I am still using it just as much, if not more).... I was very happily suprised and shocked... Also, the GPS seems to lock in pretty quickly too right out of the box....
You still need to manualyl set up your internet and MMS settings with this (and all) rom... and the settings are for the newest Airfire/Einstein settings...
first off, of course make sure you turn CDMA off and only GSM on... (not world phone mode)...
1. Start
>Settings
>Connections Tab
>Connections
2. Add New Connection
3. Enter name for connection “Airfire Internet”
>Under select modem select “Cellular Line (GPRS)”
>Next
4. Enter access point name> internet.air.net
>Next
5. Leave User name, Password and Domain all blank
> tap Finish
E-Mail
1. Start>Messaging
2. On messaging screen select Menu in bottom right corner and go to options
3. Select Outlook E-mail from list
4. Under server address enter> webmail.airadigm.com
>check the box for SSL connection
>Next
5. Enter in your user name and password for your e-mail
>enter airadigm under domain
>check box for save password
>Next
6. Select what you want your phone to sync with on your PC
> Finish
7. Start
>Settings>Connections tab> Comm Manager
>Turn on Data Connection and Microsoft Direct Push
8. Wait a few minutes and your e-mail should sync with your PC
MMS
1. Start> Messaging> SMS/MMS> Menu in right corner> MMS Options
2. Servers tab> New> Airfire MMS
>leave gateway blank> Port: 8080
>Server address: http://mms.airfiremobile.com/+1(10 digit number)
> Under Connect via select Airfire Internet
>Done Note: You must add the +1 before your number
3. When screen returns to the settings page after entering MMS settings set your MMS settings you just created as default.
I hope this helps everyone who has airfire... or even people just looking for a great rom/radio combination that gives good battery life!
