Bugtracking/Download website - General Questions and Answers

I'm just trying to gauge some interest about whether or not people would find this useful.
What it would essentially be is a website where developers can link to in their threads to organise the bugs people find.
Dev's can upload screenshots of their ROM, link to it etc. It would have a bug tracking system where users can post bugs found and the dev can highlight when these are fixed.
There would also be a section for changelogs etc. With each upgrade of a ROM, the previous ROM becomes archived, however still available for people to download. Users can also rate the ROM.
What this would essentially do is minimise the amount of issues highlighted in threads which the dev can easily miss. This would leave the ROM threads open to requests and general talk.
Who would find this type of service useful if it was exclusive to xda?

Anyone?
10char..

I could see something like that being useful for me.

Vital links project....anybody?

Would it be possible to compile a list of links useful to users of this site, especially newcomers. Top of the list for XDA would be lumpis kitchen, also links for country id problems, extended roms etc. Hopefully the site admins would make it a sticky so it could be referred to or accessed by those in need instead of posts being duplicated time after time. Useful info such as the Com 1 problem for gps could be included or put in a seperate list. Obviously this could be expanded on based on peoples ideas. Any feedback or material for lists would be appreciated, especially from the admins.

WM6 Rom Comparison

Just a quick idea. Would it be possible for a sticky thread controlled by the mods, or their assigned surrogates that would keep a list of the roms that would ease comparisons between them? Possibly with a spreadsheet-like file that would contain version formats, features, etc side by side. As developers create new roms or change existing ones, they could pm those in charge who could make changes to the thread. Discussions would be held elsewhere, this would be fact-based only. Just a thought. I am happy to donate my time to the cause.
There are periodic posts that come along with polls of the latest rom, but the problem is that roms are frequently coming out...I understand that this would be a nice feature, because if you disappear from the forums for even a month you are lost with what has happened since then...if anything I just look at the posts and weigh the comments to see if the rom is good or not...lol there are also stars by a post that hint at its performance...anyways good luck with your request...

Attn Devs: Regarding Development & Testing

I would like to start off by giving Kudos to all you Devs, you guys have given this phone the much love and Attention that it has needed:good:
I would like to offer my my knowledge and skill set to help you all in the testing process of your roms. Although SQA ( Software Quality Assurance) is no longer my profession, I did it for 10yrs, most of that in Cellphone technology. So I am probably much older than most of you .
I'd rather keep my issue ( bug) findings between you and I, as not to clutter threads. What logcat app would you recommend and do you guys use a BTS (bug tracking system) else where that files can be uploaded to?
So if you are interested in my help please PM.
This is the development forum. It needs to be in the Q&A forum.
First suggestion - don't start threads in the dev forum. Second - use search and you will find recommendations for logs and where to upload them. Good luck.
Thanks, I asked about logcats and a place to upload the files for the devs to go through, pertaining to each project. as for searching around here, sometimes it's utter chaos.
aLogcat in Playstore and Pastebin with link to log in the respective ROM thread.

STAPPZ- What's live near you - location based app - early cm adopters needed

Hi,
I'm Tim and we developed an Android app and started a startup in Germany. However, the app is free. Therefore, I hope that posting about the app in this forum to search cyanogenmod users is ok. If not, please delete this post.
I post here, because I, myself, love cynongenmod custom roms and would like to find out more about the compatibility of our app. Therefore, I search people that like to try new apps that report if it works from them. The app is location based and in beta (so not perfect yet) and for my cm10.1 on an Lg P990 and cm on a Galaxy S3 it works. I'd be curious about other phones. Therefore, I thought this forum here is the best place to find like minded people that use cm - Maybe even someone has the onplus one and can test it
We have the app for beta testers open and you can get it on our page STAPPZ com or find us on facebook (STAPPZ)
OK- now i talked so much about what we would like to test - here a brief description:
What is STAPPZ? In short, it is answer to the question: “What is live near me?”
With STAPPZ you participate in an open conversation with pictures and text at your current position. You create and perpetuate your own STAPPZ: Moments, noteworthy facts or any other information that you consider relevant.Nearby fellows (other STAPPZ users) see those STAPPZ and respond to them by posting something themselves or by saving them in their profile. This way, the people joining STAPPZ enrich and weave the world, collaborate and take advantage of the knowledge that others left around them.
However, if you like the app and have some feedback in other directions or you want more info or to blog about it, please let us know.
We'd be so glad to get feedback if it runs on your cm devices.
Kind regards
Tim

Important Request to all ROM Developers on XDA, Regarding ROM Posts

Hi don't be fooled by the subject , This thread is to attract Moto G 2015 ROM developers attention to my request . I see ROM developers spend a lot of their time to develop a ROM and they spend their day and night to fix the bugs and bring up to date features to their ROMS and make them perfect as much as possible. How when it comes to posting ROM and ROM updates on XDA process is not perfect . There are few things I will request ROM developers which I find annoying on ROM posts
1- Screen Shots: A lot of ROMS are posted without screen shots . Some of the ROMS are posted with screen shots taken on KitKat , Lollipop and Marshmallow which are not latest screen ****s and ROM interface inside the ROM like home-screen, settings , lock-screen are completely different.
A lot of users will be installing and may be removing ROM if they don't like interface of the ROM (at least I do ). Also a lot of users may not be trying the ROM if there are no screen shots .
My request to all developers is to please add latest screen shots when posting ROM in XDA. This will not only get more people installing it but also it will get right people installing it who are really interested in that specific ROM and can help to improve the ROM by raising bugs etc with log & screenshots etc.
2- Updated ROM Posts: A lot of ROMs posted on XDA have updated versions on weekly or monthly basis with bugs fixes and new features. However when these updated are communicated on XDA the initial post is not updated and update is found on page number 50 or page 70 . Also the latest features and fixes are not added into ROM intial post. As a result this cause confusion for a user when a user go to a specific ROM post and see ROM has this and that bug and user may not install the ROM at all thinking there are bugs in specific ROM. Also new features are not updated on initial post and stay hidden from a lot of users looking for ROM with specific features
My request to all developers is to please update the initial post with but fixes and latest features updates when a new version is released so new users like me can easily decide and install the ROM.
Small Print: I do understand Developers spend a lot of time and put a lot of effort and hard work developing these ROMS and most of them do not have any financial benefit out of this. Also I do understand they do not need my suggestion and I really Appreciate their handwork. So I do apologise in advance if this post has made any of you unhappy or annoy you.
Please Please Please Please
Talking about the first post. It doesn't hold a lot of importance. At least I am fine without screenshots and when I post a thread I myself don't post latest screenshots of the ROM.
As you can see if you visit a lot of ROM thread and flash a lot of ROMs. Then nothing is much different except the fact only customisation panel can be different or some ROMs are loaded with pixel ui(blue accent), pixel nav-bar, or nav-bar animation. Except these things everything is so same in every ROM.
And if you want screenshot of the features then truly speaking you don't need that. Every ROM thread developers tends to add what's new, or changelog or list of features.
So screenshot really doesn't matter. Unless its some different ROM like flyme or miui.
Second point, you are right about it but partly.
Devs can't edit the whole post so they just post it in another post... But its our or users duty to check announcement. At least every dev updates that so it is easier to find.
It takes time to be comfortable with it but once you get then its not a big deal.
Lot of developers and even users will be agree with my answer. ?
Thanks . At least you have looked into my request . I really appriciate it
