Ok so my ?s are what tablest can have the add on to use you sim card? I seen a table adams notion ( something like that) that was able to use a 3g USB modem. Has any one tried that, and how is it?
I know the Black Berry has that option about adding the bridge which is like a tethering. But could you just use any table that has a usb port and get a 3g usb modem to put your sim card into and use the data of that.

What about adding VOIP? to tablets and how hard it is to add if you can, Over all how could you really use your tablet to make and receive calls?. Besides using skype, and whats good for conference calling/ meeting app:
Now for tethering, So lets say I buy the galaxy 10.1 (wifi) and I want to @ least have the option to tether what is the easy way going about it? IE: I have a rooted htc inspire which will allow me to tether. But if someone does not have a rooted phone what other way other then Hotspots that they can use, or can the use their mobile air card thats usb IF their tablet has USB slot, and if supports the drive to be installed? But also what if they had an Iphone and a android tablet they can still use tether does not matter iphone or not?.
Samsung Galaxy 10.1 any way to add more memory I have been looking and I know its still new but is their something that its an "adapter" to use for the micro sd card.
Also on that not lets say you have a Android tablet and you have Google TV, now I know the google tv has android market and you can transfer apps and etc etc.. Can you use the tablet to control like direct tv I seen the app for it but for tablet usage. And has any you use the google tv and how do you like it what can you do with the market place, I know you can buy apps and send it to you phone and it should work the same way with tablets, Correct me if Im wrong lol.. Just looking for other Info on the use of Googel TV and using tablets.
I know Samsung All share (http://www.samsung.com/global/allshare/pcsw/index.html) works nice what I heard. But its limited to samsung products. Has anyone used that before and how is it.
Thanks for any info, and thanks for sharing ideas .
Mods can we move this to the general tablet area.

Hey guys, I have a PS3, and I want to make its controller to work with my PC, thing is, it involves having an Bluetooth USB Dongle, which I don't. An example:

Thing is my Xperia x10 has bluetooth, so why can't I make it receive the controller's signal and transmit it through USB? There must be a way to make it like a Bluetooth receiver. Do you guys know how?
wow, that is a custom software job for sure, one that is almost surely not going to work simply because the MotionJoy drivers are finnicky when it comes to bluetooth controllers.
Let me tell you from experience, you want to purchase a cheap USB dongle, one that is known to work with the MotionJoy ps3 drivers if you want any chance of getting your ps3 controller to work wirelessly with your PC. I got one for like $5-10 bucks. Save yourself the trouble and do the same.
=(
It would be soo interesting lol. But actually on the phone's part it's not that complicated, it just needs a software to make it a bluetooth receiver!
you have to install third party bluetooth apk in order to make it a receiver, you can find in at the market...cheers

I've searched for it, but without success. Which apk is it?
So as to not clutter the board with duplicate requests: I was wondering if this can be done on Windows Mobile as well? Would anyone know some apps/hacks that might enable this?
ds3 controller to non-bluetooth pc
Rooted android device > sixaxis controller app > then the droidmote app and Corresponding pc receiver
Trying to do the same but with just a regular generic phone gamepad. Any update to solutions involving this?
So I am installing a htc flyer tablet into my cars dash to use as navigation/entertainment etc..
I was lookign around for anyway to have a rearview camera display on the tablet but have come up empty.
Im wondering though. If I took a wireless IP camera and installed in the car and figured out the power issue. Could I then turn on my phones mobil hotspot and then use a ip camera app on the tablet to view the camera?
Not sure if the camera would connect to internet with phone the same way as a router.
Anyone know?
IP Cam
I use IP Cam Viewer
I use it in my home to keep an eye on my security cameras when I'm gone.
Your problem will likely be port-forwarding past the mobile hotspot... not sure how it's set up but I did accomplish it once, in a Sprint hotspot device.
You have several "if's" there but I think you could make it happen. The good thing is that you can test it for free and registration of the app is only a few dollars.

I would be interested to know if this works as well. I'd like to monitor my horses back in the trailer. I assume the camera would get a local ip address from wireless tether. I wonder could this local address be used in a web browser or app like ipcam viewer. someone has to have tried this. guess I could by a cheap ip camera and try it but, it would be nice to know before wasting any money.
Its possible to make Foscam IP cameras to broadcast and connect via Adhoc. Doesn't hurt that they run of 5V at 2 A. That lets you use a usb cable off of ebay and cigarette charger for power. I also picked up an FI9821W, SDCard and 10000maH battery pack with 2A port off of amazon for a UPS sort of battery backup and buffer, we'll see how that works out for a while. Too bad eye-fi doesn't work. Honestly, doesn't see too practical in my mind, we'll see. For extra points though, noticed that the bottom has a hookup for a mount you can use on your dash, windshield, or air vents.

I have been looking for a tablet but i seem to be a bit confused with whats going on with the android software. Every tablet i have looked at doesnt seem to have the traditional android features and settings most have a whole different play store called either getjar or applib etc the salesman said that i needed to get a tablet with honeycomb 3.0 as this still has the back door access for rooting is this true. What decent tablets are about for around £150 doesnt matter if is second hand just looking for something with Bluetooth wifi and usb host which to my knowledge is available with android 3.0. Ive looked at the archos g3 and g9 but they have android 4.0 and root access is blocked also doesnt have half the functions also looked at the viewsonic viewpad 7 but thats stuck on android 2.2
Any suggestions or advice on anything ive mentioned would really be great.

1) PLEASE use punctuation.
2) Almost any name-brand tablet that runs 4.0.x (ICS) or 4.1.x (JB) can be rooted. If it uses "getjar" or something it's running Java but probably not Android, any Android tablet should have "Play Store" which actually has nothing to do with rooting or not.
If you have that much money to spend I suggest you look into getting an HP TouchPad (if you don't need a front facing camera) or an Acer or a transformer.
The archos i looked at in store today said it had android 4 ics but the salesman said it wasnt the proper android software and i would be better off using one with honeycomb 3.2 but i will have a look at the suggested models online now

I am mainly interested in this app for the purpose of screen mirroring. I use the Torque app while in my vehicle, which also has a touchscreen Windows 8 computer. I am searching for an effective solution to mirror the screen. Since this will be used while traveling I will have to use the phone WIFI tether to enable the connection.
Does Airdroid offer a USB tether option? It would be great to have this. My monitor only has a VGA connection. If it had an HDMI connection I could just plug in a cable from the phone but it does not. I am not really worried about the FPS rate as I am not watching videos from the phone, and the lag isn't really an issue either....
Thanks
I've moved your post to this new thread.
AirDroid does offer USB tether option, just follow these steps:
1) Connect your Android to your computer with a USB cable.

}
2) Enable USB tethering. The detailed steps may vary for different devices, but should be similar: Go to Settings> WIRELESS & NETWORKS> MORE> Tethering & portable hotspot and check the box next to USB tethering.
3) Open AirDroid on your device, go to Tools tab, and press Tethering. A new AirDroid url like “http://192.168.42.129:8888” will be displayed.
4) Visit the full url above on your computer web browser to start using AirDroid.
You can find it in our help center http://help.airdroid.com/customer/portal/articles/1296187-how-to-use-airdroid-without-wi-fi-or-other-network-connection
If you don't care about fps, then TeamViewer might be what you are looking for. They offer screen mirroring, but it is really laggy and way to slow to play game on, but for torque it might do the trick
Message has been Baconized
Teamviewer will be a functional solution as a base, but I would wonder if the interface will be sufficient. It's gesture controlled with a mouse-style format. If you need to interact you may well find it difficult to drive and control the unit and maintain the focus necessary to drive safely.
I don't know enough about Torque or your specific needs in regard to it to make a good assessment but do try it as Gormsen suggested and please post back some thoughts and/or details so others in your situation or similar have some info to go on. I would imagine as someone thinking about implementing your type of setup having some input before dropping significant cash on it would be tremendously helpful
Good luck..
Could not find a forum for OTT boxes.
Please direct me to it, if it exists.
I was given an M8S OTT box and am trying to get it to work.
I have plugged it in to my TV [HDMI cable].
I have connected it to the internet via cat cable.
When I turn my TV on all I get is a M8S logo that states amlogic, H.265, 8 core, Mali 450 and Quad Core A9.
I have downloded the users guide but it is not a lot of help in the info department.
There is a USB dongle in a USB slot at the back for a bluetooth keyboard, the keyboard lights up, but again no reaction from OTT box.
The box that the keyboard came in says it is for an Android TV Box.
The remote flashes red when I hit buttons but does not seem to react.
The remote does not seem to turn machine on/off.
I have found a site that shows how to reset to factory defaults.
I have read about getting into recovery mode using a USB keyboard.
I have not done either.
Can anyone suggests what my next moves should be?
Thanks
Requires Ethernet connection?
Yes, but I am not sure how to do this as I cannot setup to sign in.
That's how an Ethernet cable looks

Yes that is what I have plugged in to TV box and to router. I have a cable internet connection @ 120 maps download and 10 maps upload.
First and foremost, thank you to everyone who has helped in this matter. I do understand that this is an older piece of equipment and my knowledge of it is on the low end. I was hoping that being a Linux derivative there was some hope for it, as I don't like waste. There are few markings on it, which doesn't help. As well as my inexpertise about these devices.
So, now, I am looking for a "brand" name tv box (other than chromecast, roku, fire, etc.) that I can look into. Not really interested in used. Android(configurable) preferred. I live in CANADA if that makes a difference. My use for the tv box is mostly news and documentary with a little entertainment thrown in. Netflix, et all, I am not interested in, although I like movies. I have cut the wire so to speak and do not subscribe to any of the big TV/Internet providers.
I do not recognize any names of the Android TV boxes I have seen in any internet searching, so, if someone could provide some names that are good equipment in this line, I could check them out and get on with this.
Thanks.
