I assume that this is the way the Sensation or HTC phones are? The screen does not turn on when receiving an SMS when using the native app?
Any apps that I could use to make the screen turn on when I receive an SMS apart from switching messaging apps?
P.S.: Has a solution for the 5 minute LED notification been found?
Thanks so much.

But then what pops up is SMS popup's app right? I just want the screen to turn on as I turn it on usually and see the message on the lockscreen...
I'm sure there's an app for that, but usually when I use it, the popup is gone and the screen will be on and the message In the lockscreen.

Whenever I get a sms message and the quick reply icon pops up the "droid" tone goes off 3x in a row for only one text.

That's probably your messages tone plus hancent tone. Turn of the tones

I went into messenger and turned off through notification tone, now I get the sound twice instead of once. Anymore tips on where this extra tone is coming from?

Might check if you are getting send notifications
Send notifications? What's that? Where is that?

Had the same issue. Sent notifications are when you atte notified when the message is received by the person you sent it to.

Still can't figure it out, it goes off twice now but I cannot figure out why. I only have stock messenger and handscent installed.

Are you sure you don't have anything like SMS Popup, chompSMS, etc? You may have to just start randomly turning off Handcent features until you figure out what's causing the issue, assuming there really aren't any other apps installed.
Hey it's most likely the beautiful widgets pack 2. The sms one sends it. Just uninstall our disable it

ahh thats probably it. Beautiful Widgets....
This actually happens randomly on the sense sms app somtimes too
speaking of handcent, has anyone experienced handcent re-sending old messages out after rebooting?
Is their a way to make the screen lit up when you receive a txt message or another notifications?
Yes but I can not think of the apps name.

I'm really really used to MIUI and other roms that will wake the phone to show me a preview of the text recieved, even if the phone is locked. I tried using MiLocker, and the screen doesn't wake, nor does the SMS icon show me a preview of the message.
I'd really just like the screen to wake when I get a text.
Can anyone help? TIA.
I don't think so. Handcent is always an option.

Yeah I would use it if it wasn't so damn ugly.
You can set the lock screen style to Productivity. This won't automatically turn on the screen, but it will show you incoming previews of SMS, as well as email, appointments and calls (you can turn off any of those you like).
Get an app called SMS pop up, its perfect!

Does Android have an elegant/intuitive messaging app with Emoji support? All of these messaging apps are so goddamned ugly... Even chompSMS isn't attractive to me anymore
Hey that Notifier Pro IS a really good app for those of us coming from the iPhone that liked the IOS pop ups on the screen.
I just DL'd the free version to try it out and with the screen off, if you get a message, text email ect, the screen turns on for a few seconds and you get a short banner type message with a contact pic. Pretty cool.
Hey guys,
Been trying to figure out if there's a setting or a simple app to install to turn on the screen when I get a text?
Sms pop up isn't really my flavor. I don't like the the pop ups and I'm happy with the Sense lock screen sms notification.
Essentially I want to keep everything how it is in a stock fashion, but just have the screen turn on when I get a message.
Thanks.

Have you tried this?
V V V
Popup Notifier
I can't for the life of me figure out why, but, my phone isn't notifying me (making a chime, or lighting up the screen) when I receive a SMS. Even if I'm using the phone I won't get a notification (meaning nothing happens in the status bar) but if I scroll across my hangouts icon I can obviously see I have new unread messages (Tesla unread plug-in). It doesn't seem to do this ALL the time, just most of the time. I've tried switching SMS clients and the same thing happens.
Any ideas?

I've had that happen before, usually the stock message app is interfering.
