Anyone think the Acer screens grainy line effect can be fixed by a ota? - HTC Sensation

I'm trying to ignore it but I don't know this is sad htc very very sad smh

Am I the only one that doesn't have the affect?

People with the sharp screens don't have it some people say they don't have it on the Acer screens this is **** I hope this can be fixed by software but I doubt it...

I may be totally losing my mind but I think rebooting the phones a few times has fixed the problem a lot just throwing it out there

This debate (which I just replied to in the General forum) reminds me of exactly what my Nexus S display looked like after the Gingerbread update from 2.3.2 to 2.3.3.. Lighter, less rich colors. However, after the update to 2.3.4, the colors were SPOT ON and solid.
Also it was not all nexus with the problem. I see them doing an update to fix the color temperatures like they did on the Nexus S

I have an AUO (Acer) panel and I don't have the lines as far as I can tell. The only problem I have is the flickering/ghosting effect when there's white text on black backgrounds.

I have the Acer screen and mine is so grainy that my text looks like the text from the original Nintendo games.. seriously this is horrible!
Sent from my HTC Sensation 4G using XDA App

Have an AUO panel and I haven't noticed any of the grainy lines...so far.

AUO screen, haven't had a reboot in over a week of owning it. Should be getting a sharp as a replacement because this AUO has a smudge underneath the gorilla glass. Will do some comparisons and post them. In the meantime to make this thread more meaningful, the people who have this issue should post their box date and the date in the inside of the back cover.
Having an AUO I did notice some lines on the status bar as well as the icons. As I said I will have a Sharp tomorrow and will post some indepth comparisons.

So those who have had Multiple Sensations

Have you notice any difference with the screens. similar to the mt4g issue?
Im coming up on the end my remorse period thinking about doing a exchange because of the unresponsive lockscreen issuei had yesterday. Just want to make sure there isnt a bad screen version out there.

All I can say is ask for one thats made in China. But Most HTC phones are made in Taiwan and the screens they use there are made from the brand Sharp. And the ones made in China are made from Sony. I might exchange it too. My mytouch 4G that was made in China had better viewing angles, deeper blacks, and the colors being more vibrant. And everything opposite from the one I exchanged that was made in Taiwan. If you do exchange it, take pictures first. Then compare it to the new one. Make sure u ask if they have some made in China. I feeling they do. Post your reseults after comparing them.

mine is made in Taiwan and the screen looks great.
good viewing angles.
no problems.
made in Taiwan vs. China was MT4G issue, not sure if it follows on the Sensation.
I am on my third one and there is an obvious difference.in screens and overall performance. This last one has much better viewing angles and more vibrant picture. I had the Mt4g for a short time and it took five of those to get a decent screen. This device screen reminds me of the fiasco that took place with the Mt4g Seems HTC just cannot get the displays consistent. Mine is from Taiwan made on 6/3/11. So far except for a couple of minor glitches this one(the third) seems good. I really do like this phone, I hope it continues to function flawlessly so that it is a keeper. I probably would not go for a fourth go around.
Seems like most of the devices that has a shipping date starting in June is better.. mines has the shipping date of 5/24 and I have the crazy WiFi issue.. now I know what date to look for. Thanks guys.

Good to know regarding ship dates to look for

Mine was shipped 5/30 from China and I have no problems with it. Great WiFi signal and a beautiful display that is extremely bright in direct sunlight. It's actually there best display I have ever used in direct sunlight. I thought the Super AMOLED was supposed to perform better in sunlight but my Vibrant didn't look any where near as good. The G2X I compared her to couldn't hold a candle in direct sunlight.

So if yours was made in China, it confirms what the other person has said: that the Chinese made screens are better, because it could be a different supplier, maybe Sony. I just hope that if I go back to Walmart to exchange mines, they have some from China.
Just exchanged my Sensation because as I said in another thread. The battery was not charging. When I traded it in they gave me a Taiwan version and I do not notice a difference in the display besides having a dead pixel so I exchanged that one as well. The one I exchanged that one for was lag heaven so I exchanged that one. I just got my 3rd one today and they were all made in Taiwan.
I can tell you guys this. While the screen might not be different besides defects. The sped of the device differs. I have had 4 of them and all 4 have ran different. This 4th one is the fastest one I have gotten so it's a keeper.
Anyone else find this strange?

Save it for HTC support. If they say it's defective, have it replaced through them.
I called my local t-mobile store because my device has legitimate problems (like wrecking SD cards, the touchscreen only working when it feels like, and a general inability to associate to any WiFi network) and they said they're out of stock because a lot of people have exchange theirs and they have to send them back to the manufacturer.
How do you know if it's made in taiwan or china/
How do you check where and when your screen was made?
Sent from my HTC Sensation 4G using XDA Premium App
if u look on the back of ur box on the white sticker it tells u where the phone was made
The box my phone came in says Made in Taiwan. Does that mean my whole phone, screen included, was made there? My screen is gorgeous, no complaints here. I had the bad mt4g screen and the viewing angles blew. For people who say their screen is made in China, how do you know? Does your box say China? Or Taiwan like mine?

Hmm I own Both G2X & Sensation

So I just dropped 598$ for this sensation I love it but I also have the G2X are we sure this is a qhd screen? This can't be a qhd screen my g2x screen pops this seems washed now here's a better one I have my old attix right here also as I type this witch is qhd and I can see better darker colors hmm I'm just wondering why this is also just let me know if you want pics of all 3 of my devices for the trolls and nay Sayers because I'm sure there will be a ass hole comment that reads B.S this guy doesn't even own a sensation Troll Smh........so I will upload pics and write on paper something of your choice .

QHD has NOTHING to do with colors that POP. By the way, I am more than willing to take a picture of my Sensation and G2X next to each other. Sensation display blows it away in almost every aspect. Only aspect I like more about the G2X is it's blacks look better.
They say the HTC Sensation has 2 different companies creating screens for them so maybe the one you have isn't from Sharp which is said to be the better one,the thread about the two different screen manufacturers may have some answers for you

You again??? The great android developer who posted that thread the other day that was barely in english about comparing the sensation to the G2x. Didnt you say something very similar to this thread in that thread Mr. Developer? It seems like you are the one trolling because this is the 2nd thread you have created where you say the g2x is superior. So sell your sensation, keep the g2x and stop *****ing to us about it. and BTW, I do happen to own both the G2X and the Sensation. But seriously dude, this is the second thread you have created that I know of where you say something very similar comparing the sensation to the g2x. True but I think what I see about the nova display on the G2x is the 700 nit of brightness witch the highest of everything on the market iPhone 4 is 400 nit GS2 is 374 nits to give you a ideal

The sensation has a qHD screen because its has 960x540 pixels crammed in the screen. Similarly the galaxy s2 and g2x and similar devices have a wvga screen which is 800x480 pixels. Its not a representation of screen quality but more of how clear the text appears. The galaxy s2 has a far superior screen because it has a super amoled plus screen even though its not qHD. The sensation has a s-lcd screen (i think) so the colours are not as rich but theyre still good. I dont know what the g2x's screen looks like so i cant comment on that however i think maybe you should do some research before posting

So you care more about brightness than anything else on a display? If so then stick with the G2X but other than being bright, it's really not that good of a display. Engadget said it's like a mediocre LCD and that LG skimped on this IPS panel.

You don't even know the difference between screen resolution and screen brightness but still you open a thread comparing screens? XDA forums are not Google search! If you search and can't find what you wan't then post. Those are the freaking rules! Someone must do something about Sensation's forums!

You're an idiot. The brightness of the screen has zero to do with the *type* of screen. qHD refers to resolution, not a technology. Also, the Sensation's display is MUCH nicer than the one on the G2x. Are you sure you didn't forget to pull the plastic off of the screen?
Oh and the G2x has an H-IPS LCD, *NOT* a NOVA panel.
OP is complaining about something he doesnt understand.

Every time I read one of the posts by this guy I want to throw up.
His English, grammar and sentence structure (or lack thereof) is not even on par with that of my friend's 10 year old nephew.
And if English is not your first language, use Google Translate or something. That should spit out better results than what you are coming up with on your own.

I tried earlier roms and ics and hated it, really bad color reproduction, defo grabbing a new one lol
if you just hate the blue tint when you are using a ics sense3.6 rom, take a look at this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1497740
I had one that went bad a week ago, it wasn't from rooting it but it was from taking the battery out rapidly in a matter of a few seconds. I got a new screen though luckily through warranty for free ;P.
Well in the end I went through 2 contract phones and looked at 8 second hand ones before I found the one I have now which is a sharp screen and it looks great :-D
As for the earlier suggestion about rcmix, I had the same color issues with a stock rom

Has anyone replaced their AUO screen with a Sharp?

Does that go for the LCD panel itself or just the Digitizer? Im having a hard time finding out how to tell what type a LCD is before I buy it. They should have printed either Sharp or AUO on the back of it so it would be obvious to buyers lol.

I'd say the odds of the screen breaking would be far greater than those of the Adreno failing. In fact, I've never heard of anyones mobile's gpu being broken, whereas I've come across countless of cases of broken screens etc.
As far as I know there is no difference between the screens, but if you get an XE screen, you'll end up with red buttons. Furthermore, the screens are apparently manufactered by two different companies, being Acer and Sharp. This won't affect the compatibility, however. Source
ohh thanks now i can sleep again best forum ever
