You have to have this installed also:

(Microsoft Visual C++ 2010 Redistributable Package)
Thanks worked, I've been trying to figure that out forever!

Hi,
I'm getting "heimdall-frontend.exe-Application Error" problem. Please refer to following error detail.
"The application was unable to start correctly (0xc000007b), Click OK to close the application."
I'm using heimdall v1.1.1 with Windows 7 64-bit. How to solve the problem? I m waiting heimdall in order to flash my SGT.
Thanks,

EDIT:
Problem Solved!!
Install 32bit of Microsoft Visual C++ 2010 redistributables (vcredist_x86.exe) on Windows 7 64bit will solve the problem.
In my case the file MSVCR110.DLL was missing. You will need the following package:
http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=30679
This thread comes up first for a google search for "msvcr110.dll heimdall" so I though I'd post this.
I had the same error and in my case it was because I downloaded the x64 Visual C++ Redistributable for Visual Studio 2012 Update 3 package and Heimdall is on x86. Just download and install the x86 package to fix this like I did
I'm having the same problem here. As per the readme:
1. If you get an error as follows:
The program can't start because MSVCP100.dll is missing from your
computer.
This means that you haven't installed the Microsoft Visual C++ 2010
runtimes. The runtimes can be downloaded from Microsoft's website:
http://www.microsoft.com/download/en/details.aspx?id=5555

Click to collapse
When i go to install I get:
A newer version of Microsoft Visual C++ 2010 Redistributable has been detected on the machine.
Any suggestions?
Problem not solved
I have followed your instructions and I still get the same missing .dll error when opening Frontend.exe in Heimdall Suite. I have uninstalled & rebooted, then reinstalled & rebooted the redistribution package, but the same error persists. I checked to make sure the .dll was actually on the computer and it is, so I even made a copy of it and placed it in the same Heimdall Frontend.exe directory, yet same error continues.
What directory does Frontend.exe check for the existence of the file?
Installing the file you noted as the solution, did not "solve the problem."
I am running Windows 7 64 bit and it is all up to date according to Microsoft website.
Thank you for all help in advance.

okay its my fault for accidentally deleting it but I need the sdk tools. i redownloaded it but instead of a sdk folder there is just a sdk doc file. i read it and downloaded everything through the sdk manager and the tools are still not there. im lost and i looked through the guides and didnt see anything there. so what do I do now?
http://http://developer.android.com/sdk/index.html
Then run the Setup exe
im on a mac...guess i should have said that first but i found it...its just not in the sdk directory anymore...and thats wut i was looking for specifically...the sdk tools now ~/Android/tools
duh...simple answer...just overlooked it trying to get ready for work...lol

Yes you can install adb on windows xp search android dev forum for my thread on how to install adb on windows it will say for windows 7/ 32 -64 but it should work fine on xp good luck
Root-Hack-Mod-Always™
sorry for the post, but i just used the search for sdk tools and thought this would be it, but i guess wrong place. I need the sdk tools for windows 7 phone, but thanks for the reply's guy's much appreciated!!
is there a way to install the sdk phone tools on xp? I have the 6.1v and visual studios 2010. But when i try to install it says i have to have win7 or vista, and i cant put win7 on machine cause it only has 128m ram. I have a patch file that is suppose to let ya install but haven figured out how to yet.
There are ways to get it installed but the emulator requires Directx 10 so that's not going to work. Without the emulator all you can do is write and compile code but not test to see if it works or not. Not very useful.
XP barely runs on 128mb of RAM so I imagine Visual Studio would be absolutely miserable to use if usable at all.
If you wanna develop for WP7 I guess its safe to say it time for an upgrade.
i would say so as well. even a netbook has more capabilities than that
Im not much of a developer in some ways so as for now all im wanting to do is use the toms installer or the reg sdk deployment tool witch i have but when i try to launch program i get this error:
Could not load file 'Microsoft Smart Device.Connectivity,10.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=b03f5f7f11d50a3a' or one of its
dependencies. The system cannot find the file specified.
Then when i try to install the Microsoft XNA Game Studio 4.0 windows phone from the WPDT_RTM_en_iso
i get this error: Microsoft xna game studio4.0 phone ex require visual 2010 or WPDT. install the required app and then relaunch setup. " witch i have the visual studio 2010 installed"
and i have a win7 netbook but have managed to have a kid that spilled tea on it so am trying to figure out the way to do this untill
i can afford to get another netbook.
Thanks for the help and replies guys, very appriciated!!
Ok so I got the xna game studio 4 to install but still getting the phone device connectivity error, is there something I can download to get by this and use the deployment
guess no solution huh
i don't believe so. the way i did it was to use a virtual machine so i could get the phone emulator working on an xp machine (virtual machine has windows 7 on it). but you don't have enough ram for that. you need at least 1.5gb dedicated to the virtual machine alone.
You can try this solution here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=9618980&postcount=81. I just couldn't get it to install still as I kept getting an error saying could not install the following component .NET Framework 4 Multi-Targeting Pack.
i finally found a iso file and downloaded it then opened up the baseline.dat file and edited it according to the patch settings and everything works just like it does on win7 netbook, just wanted to see if it was possible and it is!
Thanks for the replies.
Could you share that info? Ive been dying to get SDK tools on my XP... Thanks

Can you please share that? I have 4 XP computers at home and neither of them can run it. It would be great as I need the SDK to run Chevron unlocker! Thanks!
Link pleaseee
I so desperately need this also
for those that want the tools on windows xp, here you go: http://blogs.msdn.com/b/astebner/archive/2010/05/02/10005980.aspx
I finally got it to install on XP!
Here's what I did,
Download the .iso file (it's at the bottom of the page) :
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/en/details.aspx?FamilyID=04704acf-a63a-4f97-952c-8b51b34b00ce
After, make a new folder on your desktop and extract the ".iso" file into the folder.
Next, I grabbed the ".zip" file from here, : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=9618980&postcount=81
Take the baseline.dat from the .zip file and replace it in the one with the extracted .iso files. Then just run setup.exe from the file. It should work! But make sure you have about 3 gb free from your hard drive. And emulator doesn't work, but I'm sure its fine if your not a developer.
Remember to hit the thanks button if it worked for you!
Hello!
I have a problem with Kies, I've searched around the site but couldn't an answer.
The thing is, I download Kies from the samsung site, and when I open the .exe, I see a green bar and after that it disappears and the installer never opens.
I have Windows XP x64 bit.
Thanks!
do you have a download manager?
It's possibly the download didn't complete properly or is corrupt in some way. I would download again using a download manager (downthemall) is a popular firefox add-on
Failing that try obtaining the installer from a different site, and/or possibly try a different version
Edit: windows XP x64 is a pretty bad version of windows to be on (its not really 64bit) I would suggest upgrading your operating system at some stage

I just installed downthemall and downloaded Kies again, but the same thing happened. The installer won't open.
I've already tried downloading the installer from a different site but the same thing happened.
I have no idea what's the issue here.
Yeah I was planning to update it to windows 7 but I don't know when, I don't like much the way it looks
There are a lot of program compatibility issues with windows xp 64, I would say install on any other machine and it will work
just because its 63 1/2 bit doesnt mean you needs another computer, as i have win xp (almost) (64BiT) as well and ,win 7 on my laptop and regular win xp 32.5 bit and none WORK WITH KIES! ITS SAMSUNG JUST FACE THE TRUTH AND DONT WASTE YOUR MONEY ON A NEW OS JUST TO BE VERY VERY DISAPPOINTED, if their are any compatibility issues they are due to programs not being "MADE" compatible with it. besides i would rather be the one compatible with my computer then my apps

I also have the same problem. Windows 7, x64.
Has anyone found a solution?
Sorry for bringing this thread back to life, but I have a similar problem with KIES, only mine says that my pc is not connected to the internet!!!! OF course it doesn't take into account that I'm posting this as we speak.... Of all the problems an installation could face, internet connection is the one that messes with it?!
Does anyone have a solution?
i tried some months ago to install kies drivers and in my win7 64bit i don't have any problems
but i tried kies programs only first time, then i deleted it.
some days ago i get cyanogenmod to delete jellymod that have a lot of problems, also via usb ( i can't get files to my computer that appear a pop up of windows that says my devices is going off... too strange
anyway i nned to try now with cyano, if i have the same pop up, i guess is a usb cable, or another problem that i need to find and resolve...

Hey, and you checked the kies is compatible with windows xp 64 bit? With Windows 7 is definitely the xp but it is better to check.

I know that is a old post but for information, you could found drivers for xp 64 here without install kies ...
1. Download this files : .h.t.t.p.://drivers.softpedia.com/dyn-postdownload.php/09b2d4250aff0de1122d5694682c3b08/550736e3/179b5/4/1
2. Unzip it on destop for exemple.
3. run "Setup.exe" in the forlder "USB drivers"
4. enjoys, it works for me with a samsung S5830 ..
Has anyone else seen this issue??
I install KIES 3 (have tried 3.1 and 3.2) and after the install it works great. Then I go to install Quicken 2013 Pro or Quicken 2014 Home & Business and after that KIES 3 stops working...cant even open the program as it gives the following error:
"The ordinal 12148 could not be located in the dynamic link library
C:\Program Files (x86)\Samsung\Kies3\Kies3.exe"
Im currently running Windows 8.1 Enterprise. I find it hard to believe that these two programs cannot be ran on the same machine. I have searched the internet for a resolution but nothing I have found works.
Can anyone shed some light on this??
Same issue
Have absolutely same issue, dont know what to do...

Tried installing VC++ 2008 Redistributable but the problem remains.
Reinstalled Kies, removed and reinstalled VC++ 2008 with same result. Any other solution?
That worked perfect to me, Thanks a lot
Worked for me as well. IDK why, but it's working. Thanks for the help.
Hi, Iḿ trying to compile wx_un_do from 5.0.1 source and I have realized that when launch "lunch" command to prepare compilation (rel-st8-l-r2-partner) it needs OpenJDK instead Oracle... Is this ok?
Thnx!
I use OPENJDK, ye. I was confused too. First I had Java 8 and it errors out on me, then I uninstall that and tried Java 7 to no avail, finally kept Java 7 but installed OPENJDK and commented out a line in my build script. Whatever the error it is you're getting, paste the whole thing here.

I have compiled the entire ROM with OpenJDK without errors, so I suppose Nvidia prefers this Java version... Any known remarkable difference with Oracle JDK... ???
Thnx.

It's not a painus in the anus to get your android build machine switched over any more, with nvidia anyways.
I find nothing wrong with OpenJDK, especially for these purposes.
