This may be a stupid question but I haven't seen it in the thunderbolt forum. So the only thing I hate about CM7 is the camera and I loved the stock one. Wondering if I can just get that onto CM7. Thanks
The sense camera needs sense to function correctly. Have you tried the mui camera? It's popular and better than the cm7 camera imo

Ok so in my opinion, the stock camera.apk is a whole lot better than the one that is on gingerbread, and that is what is keeping me from switching. I use the camera on this thing a lot!i have read where some have tried to replace the new with the old to no avail... Can someone please make this happen, or even suggest a better alternative... In the mean time I will try to do the same
It will work we just need the LG framework again

Same here, I'm reversing back to eaglesblood 1.02 because it has the stock camera.
Try this and report.

Froyo camera doesn't work on gb roms.....

Dam. I really liked the lg cam too
G2x with faux AOSP
I really miss the ability to focus onto any spot on the screen, rather than limited to focusing on the middle of the frame or whatever it does automatically. I have not seen this feature on any of the camera apps in the market.
Vignette does that. It was too laggy for me, however, and I have since moved on to camera360.

This is also what is holding me back from quite a few ROM's and simply getting gingerbread also. I use it so much that it breaks the deal for me.
Any update on this?

Wondering about this.... since we all like the LG app so much better, is there a way to take it out of the froyo build and drop it into the the new gb build? If its possible, it would be nice to know how.

Why is everyone making a big deal about lg camera app?

The camera app is pretty sweet. I don't know how many times I've sold a G2x when someone came in looking for a digital camera.

Why do you come onto every thread and poison it with your opinion that the lg camera isn't important, when you admitted yourself, that you don't even USE A CAMERA?

Thanks guys i am working hard to Port that Cam over.

Why are there so many damn threads asking for the same damn thing? The other 50 threads about this weren't good enough for you?
the miui camera app is pretty good. try that one.
Thanks... shoulda looked harder

I've been torn as to whether I should stay on this gb release, go to cm7, or even miui. I'm not quite sure yet... camera doesn't bother me all that much quite yet.

Will the MIUI camera apk work on CM7, since I believe that's a CM7 based rom?
edit: Tried it...not that simple, lol. Will not install, even after removing the aosp camera app.

Where can I find that camera app? Is it available if I am not rooted?
Sorry for the noob question.
miui is built off of cm7 so I would think it would work. ill upload the apk when I get home if someone doesn't beat me to it.
Here you go. I would make a backup of your rom before trying the camera just in case.
Use any file manager with root access to place the APK in system/app then reboot. The camer should then be in your app drawer. If when trying to open it it force closes it wont work. I think it should work with CM7 but dunno about stock gingerbread.

Because the LG camera app has more features and tweaks the camera to take better quality video and photos. It also has the zoom feat. while recording video which is nice to have. Its hard going back to stock after being used to utilizing the extra feats.
Geah!

I pulled the Miuicamera apk from the miui rom, but doesn't work for me. I"ll try your download now.

So, got this phone, upgraded to gingerbread. Hate the stock camera when you get used to the camera apk on the Sensation...anyway to put that apk on the G2x through a file manager or flashing? Any answer is helpful other than search or why would you do that? answers. I would use search, but when I do I get to windows phones... pointless.
If you want the apk from the sensation, I can rip it and post it or something

Yea I wish they could do that too but apparently they (devs) haven't found a way to port anything from HTC to reg. Android. Its something about the way the apps are written or coded....if they could do that we could've had HTC sense running on this v12 powered phone.
Off topic: I think this phone can handle HTC sense pretty good if it to run it.

hah, sense 2.1. The sensation barely handles sense 3.0
Well damn...I love the click to focus on the sensation (sense 3.0 camera apk?) and especially the focus in video recording!
Cm9 has been ported to stood incredible! Saw it over at rootzwiki.
For reference
Seems they have more stable builds for the incredible.
They are very stable, but still no camera

Camera is going to be almost impossible to do without HTC releasing specific files needed for it, for ICS, as ICS has changed a lot about the camera. It is coming along on a similar device but may take a while to get to the TB.
With what rom i could capture best photos?
No matter what android version. Now i'm using MIUI.us gingerbread.
Try any sense ROM. Sense provides better camera quality.
Endymion should be your choice

Sense ROMs always have better camera
On Endymion, camera app is fantastic. I get better pictures than on CM7.
I don't really think it'd the quality that is affected, but the experience on Sense ROMs are much better.

But, yes, I find it the best camera too.
