Hi.
I've just tried a MIUI a week ago. and i installed 0.6.1 bootmenu and had no problems with it.
later i upgraded to 0.8.6 (as i remember) and i never loaded the phone. I shoud manually install 0.6.1 back.
Now i just upgraded to MIUI 1.6.24, and i installed 0.8.9-defy bootmenu. so i cannot load the phone and need to rolldabck to 0.6.1 menu.
does any1 got such a problem and how can i solve it?
Yesterday i installed MIUI 1.6.24 and 0.8.9 boot menu is already there no need to instal separate....Sorry for my English...
my defy doesn't boot, once there's 0.8.x bootmenu. no matter if i install it manually, or with 1.6.24.
I think you should install 0.8X bootmenu manually and then install miui's newest builds.
I don't use miui so i don't know whether it's right or not.
I just flash my defy to official GB from CM7.
CM7 doesn't have such problem with newest bootmenu.

When i install 0.8.x menu via 2nd init program, phone doesn't boot. It shows menu, some overclocking options, all works fine, until i choose 2nd init boot. and it just shows moto logo for ages.
I met the same issue once, then i went back to the older version.
and what to do? stay with older one?
miui 1.6.24 doesn't booted with older version.
are you sure? I did not see any changelog said it doesn't support old version.

that's weird..
did u try any other sbf?
i use uk 2.2 3.4.3-11 to install bootmenu and it's okay.
or
u could try this.
install cwm 2.5.1.8 not bootmenu
then install 0.8x bootmenu via cwm
then try to install MIUI again.

Just wondering if anyone here might have an idea what's going on...
I was previously running CM7 RC1 but a few things have been a bit strange so I decided to go back to my pre-CM7 nandroid and wipe my phone.
Now, when I flash CM7 I get bootloops. Anyone have any idea what might have happened?
Thanks!
Fixed?
Not sure which of these did it, but...
Installed busybox
Installed rom manger
Installed CM7 via rom manager and picked a different zip file
Seemed to work. CM7 is up and running again (#38 because that's the file I had).
Another question though... whenever I try to reboot into recovery, I get the Android logo with the !. I have to pull the battery and fastboot from my computer. Does anyone know why? I renamed the install-recovery.sh and Rom Manager says I have CWM 3.0.0.5 installed.

Didn't seem to work for me. Thanks though.
Try wiping EVERYTHING and even formatting the "sdcard" partition on the phone. Then flash everything again and flash a custom kernel. Should work.
Everytime I try and restore a backup from cwm the phone reboots to the first mytouch boot screen and just stays there. Is there something I'm missing on how to restore a backup? I'm using cwm 3.0.0.5, I make a backup, then when I want to restore it, I wipe data and cache and hit restore backup. Once it's finished, I reboot the phone, then it just sits on the boot screen until I eventually decide to pull the battery.

Clockwork Recovery 3.0.0.5 will work only with 2.3 (gingerbread ROMs).
Since the stock ROM is 2.2.1 you need to use recovery image 2.x.
you are in luck though. re-Flash CM7 download Clockwork ROM Manager scroll to the bottom "All clockwork recoveries" and flash the highest 2.x version they have. Then you can restore your back up without problems.
Thanks, I actually found that exact answer about 10 minutes after I posted this. I did just that, flashed cm7 then flashed cwm 2.x. I wanted to try cm7 anyway, but after an hour just trying to get the market to work, I decided to just go back to good old iced glacier.

I bet you didn't flash gapps or the newer version of it. That's why you couldn't get the market to work.

I have no idea what I did, but eventually I got it all worked out. I'm now a very happy cm7 rc1 user with a 1.84GHz smartass kernel.

Glad it worked out for you, but you (and others who may have this problem) could save yourselves a lot of this by downloading TrueBlue's zip (from development sub-forum) and flash it. It has cwm 3.0.0.6 plus stock TMO recovery.
With CM 3.0.0.6 recovery (thanks to Option94 for that), you can backup/restore both Android 2.2.x (CM6) and 2.3.x (CM7). TrueBlue's thread OP gives you instructions on how to use it.
It is a modified ROM Manager that "disguises" cwm's 3.0.0.6 and the stock Recovery as cwm 3.0.0.5 and 2.5.1.4 respectively.
PS - if you use it - don't forget to "thank" him (and Option94 also).
UPdate - if you subsequently update ROM Manager, it does not wipe out the above scheme with the disguised cwm's - it still works the same (at least through ROM Manager 3.0.1.0).

Ignore all those BS. Go in Market and download Rom Manager 3.0.1.0 and then flash the latest 3.0.0.5 (orange) recovery image. Then place the GAPP anywhere in your SDCard long as you know where it is. Reboot it in to recovery but selecting it from Rom Manager and then when its booted select Install zip from SDCard> Choose zip from SDCard.
Flash the GApp.zip and be done. Just remember when you flash NB via full wipe you have to flash GApp.zip everytime but if you just mount new NB on top of old one then DO NOT flash GApp.zip again as it will still be on your device as it ment to be installed once in that case.

No you didn't do what I said then. Go to Market> Rom Manager (3.0.1.0)> Download/Install. Then run Rom Manager and flash 3.0.0.5(latest not 2.5.1.2/2.5.1.4). If you use 3.0.0.5 you don't have to worry about 3.x(orange) or 2.x(green) as you can run 2.2/2.3 based without changing it.
3.0.0.5 < not Rom Manager its Recovery.
3.0.1.0 < ver of Rom Manager with 3.0.0.5 Recovery frame.
Problem is for people who don't know it get confusing as 3.0.0.5 could mean Recovery and Rom Manager. As normally other software specify and have different type of scheme for framework and software but in this case they both share same number so it gets little confusing.
ok i installed 3.0.1.0 rom manager from market so now i should have no issues when restoring 2.2.1 roms or 2.3 roms?thanks for the help man im coming from a Vibrant that was lost/stolen..that vibrant was so easy to root lol.thanks again

Well if you flashed 3.0.0.5 Recovery then no you won't have to worry about Green(2.x EXT3) or Orange(3.x EXT4) as you can flash both.
I have ported this recovery from Motorola Defy.
Big thanks to Epsylon3 and TWRP team.
WARNING: Use it at your own risk !!!
It has been tested on my MIUI v4 (ICS) ROM.
BUGs:
- restoring system from nandroid doesn't work
- not working with GB ROMS
Download
Only recovery.
Recovery and ICS bootmenu.
You can use Only recovery package if you don't have ICS ROM installed.
This recovery only replaces recovery in bootmenu.
Anyone tested the bootmenu version with CM9?
It should be working, because I have used bootmenu in MIUI v4 from CM9.
You can also flash only recovery package. It won't delete your bootmenu, it will only replace recovery. Only recovery package won't work, if you don't have bootmenu already.
With bootmenu package replace the whole bootmenu also with recovery.
doubt: why change to this recovery?
Look into Defy thread about it or on the official site: www.teamw.in/project/twrp2

yeah, now I can see the reason...
but I think you should explain how to install it. Can we install via CWM (?), before or later install the ICS ROM (?), can we install it with a GB ROM (?), etc
I installed the recovery only version as i already have bootmenu and i dont have ics. It says it is conpleted and i just need to reboot recovery but i dont see the option from my recovery menu so i just rebooted the phone. I reentered recovery but i still have the same recovery. Choosing latest, stable or stock does not show me the twrp recovery. I then tried to install again but the same thing happens no twrp. Did i miss something?

Yeah, will both the recovery and bootmenu work with GB ROMS? I'd like it on will5's MIUI 2.5.25 GB 2.3.7. Thanks in advance!

I have only tried it with ICS. When I will have some spare time, I will try it with GB roms.
I agree that some more detailed description and "how-to" guide would be useful.
To be honest, I'm not sure what exactly is better on TWRP recovery and why would I prefer it over CWM (what's its functions?), what can it do? How it looks (some screens would be nice)?
How to install it?
I appreciate all your work, so don't take it as (rude) criticism, but as an idea for an improvement of this topic
I bet, it would be way more interesting and more people would use it, if there will be informations, I mentioned above.

Since it doesn't have specified the requirements I pushed the files with right permissions over bootmenu 0.8.6(yes old, but i didn't know about requirements), so adding missing files, patching one script I got it running, touch UI, everything nice, but but but, I fixed the backup, backed up system, then tried to restore and oh surprise, rm -rf /system and then nothing happened. The result? the recovery deleted the whole system folder. so, my progress is on a .tar nandroid that i can't restore(the usual way)...So be CAREFUL.
Sorry about that, I have tested it only with MIUIv4 (ICS) with lastest bootmenu from CM9.
I have never try to restore system from nandroid, I'm always using update.zip for restoring system.
Thanks for your feedback.
Hello,
Does anyone experienced problems to mount sdcard ?
Kind reagrds,
Hi all
I am stuck on an older cm9 nightly from March and desperately want to flash the newer cm9 released a couple of days ago
My problem is that I cant boot into recovery, rom manager doesnt work and the various other apps that I have found people recommending dont work either.
Could some kind soul tell me how to get rom manager back to working order so I can reboot to recovery so I can install the latest nightly? Or suggest another/better way to go?
Thanks in advance!
Try turning off your Tf, and holding the Volume-Down key Before and While you hold the power key to turn it back on. This should boot to your cwm recovery if you have one, if it gives you nothing or the stock recovery download the Recovery Installer.apk in the development section and (You MUST have root, I assume yes on cm9) open it and flash 3.2.0.1 cwm recovery. Once that's done you can flash the newest nightly. Keep in mind that 3.2.0.1 ONLY reads from External SD card (MicroSD) so be sure to get one or NVflash a newer recovery with internal.
Also a tip: Rom manager has had a host of problems for the Transformer, and while it's really good for some supported phones, it's not so good for the tf (just look around Q+A and the dev you see all sorts of ROM manager related problems)
Good luck
Recovery installer apk is actually in apps n themes section. And it read both internal SDcard and the microSd as well.

Actually if you use Gnufabio's version it will flash Roach's CWM 3.2.0.1
It only read from external micro sd card.
There's a modified version of RecoveryInstaller that flash Team Rouge's recovery, that version read from internal and external sd.

After you have install recovery do the manual button method as posted above by Thing O Doom
or use this app
https://play.google.com/store/apps/...sMSwxLDEsImNvbS50cmFuc2Zvcm1lci5yZWNvdmVyeSJd
It's highly recommended you know the manual button method for when you're in a bootloop or your TF is stuck at the Asus page.
Resolved
Excellent, thanks so much for the help all, ended up getting team rogue's recovery....I had tried Gnufabio's one before and it hadnt worked when I installed and used the power & Vol down button(as the recovery image would not boot ever and froze after the first nightly I had installed)
Just a word of warning on the 4ext boot to recovery option, and this could just be me with Rom manager on previously when I tried to fix myself, when I installed 4ext it would freeze on boot totally...only way I got it to work was cold booting linux so just so you know it does seem to have its problems too
But I am now downloading the latest nightly to flash
Cheers!
Hi, i have a question about the install, it is said the latest recovery is needed.
I experimented some troubles on my transformers, my recovery was blocked, but i found a post here to install another. So i was able to install ics by recovery.
That is nice but i want the aokp rom, i tried on my sgs and i would like to have on my tf. I'm ok with the flash, i did 200 times on the 3 sgs at home, so i'm not new to this.
The recovery i now have on my tf is the rogue XM recovery 1.3.0 (CWM-based Recovery v5.0.2.7)
can i use this recovery to flash the aokp or do i need to update to another recovery, if yes, plz tell me how to do.
Thx

Release page.
Just flash the .zip file in CWM, no need to use AROMA or other fancy stuff.
Thx, that worked for the install, got a bootloop, but after a wipe and flash again, it worked.
But now, another problem, i'm in france, my dock is phisically in azerty, but when used, it is in qwerty.
Edit : i found the option, so no more problem with dock, i can enjoy the aokp as i did on my sgs.

and what about installing guevor's kernel v22.6 on aokp milestone 6? after reboot nothing changes, and can't install gapps too. tried with several recovery versions, cwm, touch and rogue.
