For some reason my Gmail app doesn't show the notification bubble (#) like SMS does, does it have it built in?
make sure it's enabled in the gmail settings inside the actual app
Bubble or notification icon? I don't have any bubble?
On another note, it's weird that there's not an option for the led notification to go off for gmail.. Big miss there.

Gmail doesn't have the notification bubble unfortunately. Only HTC apps have them.

is there any app that displays notifications such as received sms, missed call etc on the lock screen, as a list or something?

Hmmm... you may be able to use FlyScreen which is a lock screen replacement that supports widgets on the lock screen. IMHO it's a little awkward to use at the moment but I'm sure it will get better.
Assuming you can find a widget to list these things you could put that on the FlyScreen.

those show the unread count on the app icon, not on the lock screen.
i was thinking of something more like what desire roms have as they show some notifications on lockscreen

do you know if there is one for the email application as well?
(the one with my exchange account and not gmail)
Is there a way to have the regular email client show u how many unread emails u have??? When I look at settings under launcher pro it only shows Gmail SMS and phone notifications. Would love to have an email notification =)

Regular email client does show notifications in the status bar at the top. Pull down and there is a count.
thanks. is there a way for that number to appear on the dock?
K-9 has that. It's also a better email client IMHO, especially if you use IMAP folders extensively.
hmm seems as if i dont receive emails on k-9.... thanks though.
launcher pro also gives you the option for notifications on the dock bar...

Has anyone tried freezing the mail app to use a different one? I use the Yahoo mail app, but both mail apps cause notifications. How can I get the standard mail app to stop, and can I move the Yahoo mail app to the dock?
I am guessing you are rooted! Use Taitanium back up to freeze the mail app, if that does not work than go to mail app and setting and disable notification. Plus to put yahoo app on the dock just press on icon in app drawer for couple second and when you get it to home screen just put it over the Gmail app.

He wants the app to be in the dock, not on the home screen, correct? In that case you need to go into app drawer, click Menu > View Type > Customizable Grid. Then click Menu > Edit, and press and hold on Yahoo and then drag It down to the dock. Then you can click Menu > View Type again and select Alphabetical if you want them to be ordered again.

Thanks. I disabled the notifications and then I replaced the mail app with Yahoo mail in the dock. I also saw that I could add a folder (another option I wanted). So I made a folder for all my frozen apps.
I was looking for help disabling the app badge notifications for non-Samsung devices. All the searching I have done seems to point at changing launchers. I would like to figure out how to modify the stock rom. What I have tried so far is using ROM Toolbox Pro to disable the 'NotificationBroadcastReceiver' in the 'Advanced Freeze' section on an app that has the app badge notification. The app badge notification went away for a few minutes and then came back. Any ideas/suggestions would be much appreciated!
NOTE: I was thinking I might have to edit some .smali files of the app in question. If so, I use APK Editor Pro to disassemble APK files right from my device.
What do you mean by 'app badge notifications'? Notifications in system bar, or, for example, the number of unread messages for some messenger app that appears on the desktop?

The red bubble with the number that shows up on some app icons like Facebook, Messages, and even on folders if you have folders set up.
Hm, then I don't know either, my only option would be to change launcher as well.
I'm hoping there is a way to disable them by editing the smali code. I am learning smali now, seems similar to visual basic

Hi, for the life of me I can not find the setting which allows you to clear the badge from an app icon when you clear it's notifications.
For some reason if I clear notifications from Textra, the badge goes away too, but not for the email client.
Can you please help me find that pesky setting so I can apply it to all apps?
thanks!
